CHAPTER FORTY: THE PLACE THAT PRAYERS REACH

The giant Cube that the Tartaros guild hall was located on continued to move through the sky. In the cells, both Lisanna and Lyon were panting as Natsu turned to look at them.

"Pull yourself together, Lisanna! Lyon!" He said.

"I'm burning up, Natsu..." Lisanna informed.

"I'm not doing so well either." Lyon muttered.

"Damn!" Natsu cursed as he continued to bang on the cell door. "Dammit! Let us out! Let us outta here!"

"It's no use, Natsu. These cuffs and this cell seem too tough for humans to break..." Lisanna said.

Natsu grits his teeth. "No, I will figure a way out! We need to get out and save Erza and Mira too!"

"That'd be pointless." A voice said.

"Huh?! Say what?! There's no way to know without trying!" Natsu argued.

"Honestly... Even behind bars, you're one noisy kid." Silver said, holding two cups.

"You..." Natsu mumbled.

Silver offers the cups of water through the bars. "Come here, you two." He said as a purple glow came from his hands.

"It's not poisoned, I hope!" Lisanna accused.

Natsu sniffed the cups. "Nope. Seems like ordinary water." He informed.

"I can't let ya go for obvious reasons, but I also can't stand to see a young lady and a fellow ice wizard suffer." Silver claimed.

Natsu turned to look at Lisanna and Lyon. "What are you two gonna do?" He questioned.

"I'm going to trust him." Lisanna replied.

"We really don't have much of a choice." Lyon added.

Both Lyon and Lisanna walked over to the cups, taking a drink.

"Well?!" Natsu questioned.

"Yeah, it's fine." Lisanna responded. "Thanks. I feel alive again."

"I do feel refreshed." Lyon mumbled.

"Hey! Give us food! I'm starving!" Natsu complained.

Silver only grinned before walking away. "Wait! Just who are you?!" Natsu asked as Silver just raised his arm up.

"Natsu..." Lisanna muttered.

"He smells just like Gray and Shun." Natsu stated.

Lyon hummed. "I'm not surprised you noticed." He said, causing Natsu and Lisanna to look at him.

"You know something, don't you?" Natsu asked.

"Indeed. I do know when the dragons attacked after the Grand Magic Games, my future self told me he had an encounter with him. Except now I am my future self." Lyon snorted.

"Shun will go through two life-changing events at the same time... Very soon, actually."

Lyon narrowed his eyes, recalling his future self's words. "Just how soon was he talking about?" He wondered.

"Natsu... Nah, it couldn't be." Silver mumbled to himself.

Franmalth cackled. "Do you think you can locate Jellal, Mr. Former Chairman?" He questioned.

"Hold your horses! I'm trying to concentrate here!" Crawford made quotation marks with his fingers. "'Concentrate!' I'm trying to use my Super Archive Magic to search for all wizards on the continent in real time!"

"We just need to kill Jellal to activate the Face now! Just how much will its power be worth?! How much?!" Franmalth questioned.

"I will find him." Crawford promised.

In the torture chamber, Erza gritted her teeth in pain. "Do it." Kyoka ordered as lightning struck Erza's body, making her scream in agony. "Stop, Yakdoriga."

Erza collapses to the ground. "Where is Jellal?" Kyoka asked again as Erza glanced up.

"Let... Mira go..." She demanded.

"Continue, Yakdoriga." Kyoka ordered as she gripped onto Erza's head. "I will heighten your sense of pain even further."

Erza screamed once more.

Jellal was breathing heavily, trying to catch his breath. "Jellal..." Meredy mumbled.

"You say you're going to free us? What can you possibly do?" Midnight questioned.

"I will defeat you all." Jellal declared, shocking the Oracion Seis members. "Prepare to be extinguished here!"

Zero soon appeared. "You're the one about to be extinguished, Jellal!" He shouted, sending an attack towards Jellal.

"Zero?!" Angel exclaimed.

"When was his seal lifted?!" Racer questioned.

"He's still alive?!" Cobra said as Jellal's eyes widened.

The attack goes straight through Jellal's stomach. "Jellal!" Meredy shouted.

Zero grinned as something caught Crawford's attention.

"What's wrong, Mr. Former Chairman?!" Franmalth asked.

"Silence! Silence! Silence!" Crawford responded.

"Have you found Jellal?!" Franmalth questioned.

"Just be silent!" Crawford ordered as his eyes widened.

Jellal laid on the ground with a hole in his chest. "Impossible..." He mumbled.

"Jellal!" Meredy rushed forward in a panic.

"S-Stay away... Run..." Jellal mumbled weakly.

"I can't do that, Jellal! I can't just leave you!" Meredy protested.

"Run... Meredy..."

"No! It's not over yet!"

"Yes... We..."

"...are finished!" Zero exclaimed, slamming onto Jellal as he laughed evilly while Meredy froze in shock.

"Have you found Jellal?!" Franmalth questioned again.

"Something bigger has happened." Crawford responded.

Meredy could only look at the empty crater. "Jellal..." She muttered as a burned boot fell.

"He vaporized..." Angel mumbled. "Jellal vaporized..."

"Yes." Hoteye agreed.

"Is this for real?!" Cobra questioned.

"With just one attack..." Racer muttered in disbelief.

"You're the one who's gone now, Jellal!" Zero laughed before he split into two, causing Midnight's eyes to widen. The illusion of Zero soon shattered.

"Jellal?! How...?!" Meredy questioned in shock.

"He shattered... my nightmare...?!" Midnight muttered in shock.

"Whoa..."

"He damaged his own eyes?!"

"No way!"

"That's insane!"

Golden beams soon surrounded the Oracion Seis members.

"What is this?!"

"Light?!"

"No! It's...!" Angel started to say.

"Multiple Magic Circles?!" Racer finished.

"When did he...?!" Cobra trailed off.

"May the seven stars bring judgment upon you!" Jellal called out, placing his hands together as gold light soon fell from the sky. "Grand Chariot!"

The gold light struck down and attacked the Oracion Seis members. "Curse you!" Midnight yelled.

Jellal soon placed his fingers down as wind picked up around him. The sky turned dark.

"True Heavenly Body Magic?!" Midnight exclaimed in shock.

"Sema!" Jellal shouted.

A meteor stuck down and engulfed the entire section. When it dimmed down, a crater remained as all of the Oracion Seis members laid defeated.

Jellal pants as he tried to catch his breath. "What incredible magic..." Hoteye mumbled.

"I concede... Kill me."

"I intend no such thing." Jellal replied.

"You're... gonna throw us back in prison?" Angel questioned.

"No. Join our independent guild, Crime Sorciére. Your prayers will be heard. I promise you that. But... think about what needs to be done right now." Jellal grabs Midnight's collar. "We share a common adversary. Let us defeat Zeref together."

"Have you found Jellal, Mr. Former Chairman?!" Franmalth questioned.

"No, something even better has happened. The 'key transfer' was a success, all thanks to my 'Super Archive' ability!" Crawford replied.

"Huh?"

"In short, the key in Jellal's possession is now mine!" Crawford explained.

"Yours?!"

"That's right! So if I just transfer the key to someone else now, we can kill them to break the seal!" Crawford explained.

"What do you mean, someone else?" Franmalth asked.

"It doesn't matter who! One of the captive fairies will do!" Crawford replied.

"H-Hold on a moment, please! Are you saying that you're the final key right now?!"

"Yes! That's what I just said!" Crawford extended his arms up. "I had no idea this was possible... My Super Archive ability is truly fearsome, if I do say so myself! Now we can unseal Face once and for all! The world is as good as ours!"

"I find it hard to believe that such a heavily concealed key could be transferred so easily, though." Franmalth said.

"Chalk it up to my 'power and authority' as the former chairman!"

Franmalth had a dark look on his face. "Is this all true?" He questioned.

"Of course it is! My Super—" Crawford's sentence gets cut off as Kyoka stabs him.

"This will break the seal, then?" Kyoka interrupted as Crawford collapses to the ground.

"Huh?" Natsu said.

A loud rumbling was soon heard, shaking the entire building.

"What the...?!" Natsu questioned.

"I don't like this..." Lyon mumbled.

"It's shaking hard!" Lisanna informed.

"Oh, my, oh, my!" Franmalth exclaimed.

"Even the Cube is reacting. The Face's seal has been lifted." Kyoka said.

Natsu crashed head first onto the ground. "Y-You okay, Lisanna, Lyon?!" He asked.

"Shun..." Lyon thought.

"Big Sister Mira... Big Brother Elf!" Lisanna thinks to herself.

In Fairy Tail's basement, Elfman had tears falling out of his eyes. "Lisanna... I love you..." He muttered as the purple Lacrima was glowing.

Somewhere deep underground, three 'seals' glowed white as a large statue with a face on top appeared from the ground.

As the Cube moved, Natsu, Lisanna, and Lyon were slammed into the cell wall as Natsu's chains broke, getting Lisanna's attention.

"Natsu! Look!" She exclaimed.

Natsu soon spotted a sword. "A sword!" Natsu said.

"Maybe it can cut these chains!" Lisanna stated.

"Worth a shot." Lyon added.

"What a turbulent reaction." Kyoka commented as Franmalth was holding onto a pillar.

"No doubt about it! The Face has been unsealed!" He said.

"What are its coordinates?"

"Let's see here... It's quite a bit off from where we expected it to appear!"

"No matter. Activate it." Kyoka ordered.

"Well, actually..." Franmalth trailed off as the rumbling stopped. "Oh! The shaking has stopped!"

"This is our chance. Activate it now." Kyoka ordered.

"I'm afraid we can't from here." Franmalth informed.

"What?"

"We can't control it remotely. The Face can only be activated manually now. The former chairman could've controlled it remotely, though..." Franmalth explained.

"I've blundered. I was too hasty." Kyoka said. "So be it. We'll have to send someone there."

"Let's just hope Fairy Tail doesn't try to interfere again." Franmalth said.

"That won't be a concern." Seilah spoke up, walking into the room. "Very shortly, Fairy Tail's story will come to an end."

"Oh, no! What if you're born early because of this shaking?!"

TARTAROS KYOKA SQUAD / LUMMY.

"Just kidding! There are no worries..." Lummy's face turned serious. "...at all! Because you've already regenerated!"

"This is my body?" Tempester asked.

"That's right, Tempester!" Lummy replied.

"'Tempester?' Is that my name?"

"You turned out pretty cool, huh?! I decided to make you into a handsome hunk!"

"My appearance is unimportant." Tempester claimed.

"Aww, man. Only he gets to be handsome? That's not fair." Jackal complained.

Lummy moved closer to him. "But you've always been cute, Jackal!" She said.

"Get away. You creep me out." Jackal insulted.

"'Jackal?'" Tempester questioned.

"What? Don't you remember me, Tempester?" Jackal asked.

"Tempester loses his memory every time he regenerates. Probably because of the Bane Particles. The poor thing. Still, I'm always..." Lummy's face got serious again. "...here for you!"

"That fireball and that blue cat are gonna pay! I'm gonna slaughter 'em! I swear it!" Jackal said.

"You're so hot when you're mad! It gives me new life!" Lummy commented.

"Shut up!" Jackal retorted as they soon heard footsteps.

"Who's that?" Tempester asked.

"Who are you?!" Jackal questioned.

"Oh! I forgot!" Lummy said.

"So this is 'conjury'... I'm brimming with power."

Minerva soon appeared as a demon. "She's a former human Big Sis Kyoka caught. Her name's Minerva or something. Girls don't interest me one bit, though." Lummy explained.

"Minerva..." Tempester muttered.

"A new comrade of ours, huh..." Jackal said as Minerva smirked.

Lummy spun around. "Speaking of not caring, maybe it's time I transform this one too! Mira, was it?" She asked as Mira was in a tube. "You and that stupid, cute face of yours... I'm gonna turn you into the ugliest caterpillar the world's ever seen."

Elfman continued to stare at the purple Lacrima as Cana entered the basement. "You're definitely acting weird, Elfman. What is that Lacrima?" Cana asked. Her eyes widened as Elfman charged at her.

"Get away!" He ordered.

"Whoa! Elfman?!"

"Don't interfere... Don't interfere! Don't interfere!" Elfman shouted as Cana glanced over.

"A bomb?!" She exclaimed.

"Say goodbye... Say goodbye, Fairy Tail!" Elfman shouted.

"Someone!"

Cana only ended up getting slammed down into the ground by Elfman.

"Is he being controlled?! If I don't do something...!" Cana thinks to herself.

Levy stood up. "I found them! I've pinpointed the enemy's location!" She announced.

"Oh!"

"Way to go, Levy!" Lucy complimented.

"Well done!" Makarov praised.

Levy pointed her finger upwards. "Directly above." She said.

"Huh?!"

"They're directly above!" Levy informed.

"Come again?!" Makarov said.

"They're right above us?!"

"I'm sure of it! When Happy escaped, they were near the Bosco border! Given their speed and direction, they should be directly above Magnolia now!"

Seilah, Kyoka, and Franmalth had the Fairy Tail guild on screen. "It should be anytime now." Seilah informed.

"They came to us?!" Gajeel questioned.

"Let's go save Natsu and the others!" Lucy informed.

"Aye!" Happy agreed.

"Let's go!" Makarov instructed.

"Yeah!"

"Ly, I'm coming." Shun thinks to himself. "That bastard deserves a good slap to the face. How could he be so idiotic?!"

A bright light suddenly appeared followed by a purple glow, getting the citizens of Magnolia's attention.

The Fairy Tail guild hall soon exploded.
