To Reclaim His Home

As planned together with his retainers, Sun Ce entered the large audience hall that Yuan Shu had in his palace where the man himself was sitting and smirking as Ce approached him, prostrating himself before Yuan Shu and bowing. Yuan Shu's arrogance faded from his expression when he saw the despondent look on Sun Ce's face.

"What troubles you, Sun Ce?" He asked, knowing he had to keep up at appearance of at least being caring.

Sun Ce spoke softly, doing his best to keep things up. "I cannot keep doing this Lord Yuan Shu. My family are trapped in their own home in Jiangdong, all due to Liu Yao and his lackeys ruling those lands after being appointed by Dong Zhuo and they are cut of the same cloth of him."

Yuan Shu nodded slowly. "Well...that is unfortunate, but what could you possibly be thinking, you're not in any way to do anything about it?"

"I would save them and remove those...creatures from Yang Province with my own hands if I could." Sun Ce replied. "But I have no army, no means to do so...not on my own."

Yuan Shu's expression tightened. "Hmmm...you're meaning is plain, you want troops from me, and provisions, to what, go and conquer Jiangdong. Why should I allow that?"

"I serve you, Lord Yuan Shu, it would bring the lands of Yang Province under your command...I would save my family and I would only be borrowing the troops from you." Sun Ce insisted. "If you need a token of my trust, then I would offer this as collateral."

With that he pulled out the Imperial Seal and presented it to Yuan Shu. Sure enough, there was an unmistakable gleam in Yuan Shu's eye.

"That's...so it's true, your father did find the seal...you would give it to me?" He gasped.

Sun Ce nodded. "Yes, in return for troops and provisions in order to conquer Jiangdong in your name."

Yuan Shu reached out without any sort of hesitation and Sun Ce handed over the Imperial Seal. Yuan Shu took it and smiled, eyes gleaming.

"Very well, I must make an announcement."

With that he hurried to leave the room.

"So, that's how you trick Yuan Shu into giving you those troops?"

Sun Ce grinned. "Yes and now with your troops, we're even more ready for this fight, thanks Zhou Yu."

Sun Ce's oldest friend Zhou Yu smiled back and nodded.

"Of course my friend, I am always eager to help you." He remarked. "I even have a plan in mind to deal with this."

"Well, let's hear it, your plans are always welcome to me." Sun Ce agreed.

Cheng Pu quirked an eyebrow as he listened to this. "Are you sure that's wise my Lord, no disrespect Master Zhou Yu, but you are rather young and…?"

"I assure you, Master Cheng Pu." Zhou Yu replied with a bow. "I know exactly what I'm doing and I have faith in my abilities. We will win, of that I can be certain."

"Foolishness." Cheng Pu groused. "There is no certainty in war."

But he offered no further complaint and soon they were gathering their men and provisions and preparing to march, as they did so, Zhou Yu detailed his plan to them all. In addition to the retainers that had followed Sun Ce to Yuan Shu, two unexpected people had joined them as officers, two sisters Daqiao and Xiaoqiao, the respective wives of Sun Ce and Zhou Yu.

"You seem troubled, Master Cheng Pu?" Han Dang remarked as he rode alongside him.

Cheng Pu shook his head. "I know my Lord has faith in Zhou Yu and in those ladies...I am just worried he might be taking too much of a risk."

"I wouldn't underestimate them, Cheng Pu." Huang Gai laughed. "The Princess herself actually showed them how to fight and you know how she is."

Cheng Pu gave a smirk. "I suppose you're right, well...forgive me for being so worried about the brashness of youth, I think I must just be showing my age."

The three veterans just laughed at that and continued onwards as they made their way to Sun Family Manor within Jiangdong.

It wasn't long before they were reunited with Sun Jing, Sun Quan and Sun Shangxiang, as well as Shangxiang's friend and bodyguard, Lianshi. They shared their plans there, their real plans, to claim the lands of Jiangdong for himself, to rebuild his family legacy and for them all to form the basis for a new land, one to end the chaos. They were eager to help and soon they too joined Ce's army and they began sending out word, looking to recruit retainers and add to their army.

"Well, we've done well, haven't we, now we have a real chance." Sun Ce said with a grin.

Zhou Yu nodded. "I agree, now my plans will come to fruition and we will achieve your goal, my friend, let us begin."

Sun Ce nodded and began talking to and getting to know their new recruits, most prominently were three men, Lu Su, Lu Meng and Zhou Tai, impressed with their obvious strength and capability they were all given appropriate places within the army and they began to march out, ready to begin their attack, meanwhile, as expected, Liu Yao had heard of their arrival and plans and had panicked, sending out warnings throughout Yang Province, soon the conquest of Jiangdong would begin.
