Battle for Wu Part 2

It had taken some time, but after working on securing the area they had conquered and winning the hearts and minds of the people and other important figures, as well as in some of the surrounding areas, the Sun army was ready to continued their campaign.

"If we can take control of the area ahead we can really open up our plan." Zhou Yu remarked. "That's when we'll have the full force of Liu Yao and his allies before us, particularly Yan Baihu and Wang Lang."

Sun Ce nodded. "True, we'll have to be ready, we can't let the upcoming battle be too...problematic for us."

Huang Gai laughed. "I don't see that being a problem my Lord, look."

They looked over and Sun Ce grinned. True the enemy were waiting for them, but they'd already been told about the duo waiting for them, Ze Rong and Xue Li. They were known in these parts for their ineptitude and only earned their place in Liu Yao's army for their fawning over him, but Sun Ce was also trying to work out something else.

"I wonder...any sign of that guy, Taishi Ci?"

Cheng Pu grunted. "A scout reported that he's stationed in a small camp just past where Ze Rong and Xue Li are waiting for us. Really my Lord, I do not understand why you-?"

"I want him on our side." Sun Ce explained. "He is a great warrior and he's the sort of guy we'd want within our army."

The others paused at that, considering carefully what Sun Ce had said, but they quickly focused as they saw that Ze Rong and Xue Li had readied themselves and were already trying to attack.

Readying his own army, Taishi Ci was troubled by what had happened recently. He couldn't understand why Lord Liu Yao would make him pull back despite the fact that they needed to stop the invading Sun Army.

'But Lord Sun Ce is more than I expected...he's a true warrior and when I fought him, it was like…' He mused to himself.

But he was cut off when he heard sounds of screaming and shouts and turned to see the remnants of Ze Rong and Xue Li's armies fleeing. They had been defeated which meant only one thing.

"He's coming, Sun Ce is coming, everyone stay on guard." Taishi Ci cried out.

With that he quickly mounted his horse and, despite cries from his men, he immediately rode out, twin rods at the ready. Sure enough the Sun army soon came across him and they all readied themselves.

Taishi Ci then cried out. "Come Sun Ce, let us finish what we started."

"Foolishness, do you really think-?" Cheng Pu began.

Sun Ce cut him off however. "Gladly, I look forward to seeing what you can do."

With that both men charged out towards each other and began fighting hard. Before long they were lost in combat while both armies watched in amazement, while Sun Ce's officers began setting themselves up, taking advantage of the distraction to prep for the next stage of their plan, especially when scouts reported that local barbarian tribes were looting nearby villages and needed to be dealt with too.

Once again the fight between Taishi Ci and Sun Ce was awe inspiring as both men fought, evenly matched. The battle only ended when finally, despite protests from Taishi Ci, the order came from Liu Yao that they had to pull back, yet again cutting the duel short, most notably after a scout had informed him that such a duel was taking place. Regardless it enabled the Sun army to gather and set themselves up and send out words to calm down nearby villages and try to claim more territory. Sun Ce was breathless but in good spirits.

"That was an incredible workout." He said. "This is even better than I thought. Next time I have to make absolutely sure that we win Taishi Ci's allegiance."

The others merely shook their head, knowing only Sun Ce would find a huge tiring duel like that to be enjoyable.

Finally Zhou Yu spoke. "Well, you should rest Sun Ce, let us handle the rest of things here."

Sun Ce nodded and went to do so while calling over his shoulder.

"Alright Zhou Yu, everyone, listen to Zhou Yu, he'll give you the details for our plans."

All eyes turned to Zhou Yu and he nodded.

"Alright, we'll need to split into three units, Master Cheng Pu, Han Dang, Huang Gai, as discussed we're relying on you to take down Wang Lang. Lord Sun Quan, Master Zhou Tai, we'll need you to stop the barbarians who are ravaging the villages, the rest of us will attack Yan Baihu."

With that they took their orders and went to carry out their part in the plan, knowing that if this worked, they'd have severely broken Liu Yao's power and taken control of most of Yang Province in one fell swoop.

Sun Ce stood anxiously, waiting for news, meanwhile their army was gathering and preparing for their next move, their final move. The attacks had been successful, their enemies felled and Yan Baihu slain. Wang Lang had fled and now they were once more working to placate the people and restore peace to the lands they controlled, all the while trying to extend hands of friendships to influential clans and people within the Province, another warrior Dong Xi had joined their ranks. But it wasn't all good news, the bandit attacks had been an ambush and Ce was trying to reassure Quan who was wallowing in guilt.

"You heard what he said, Quan...Don't blame yourself, this is something Zhou Tai decided to do by himself." Ce explained.

Quan shook his head. "I can't just...accept a man throwing away his life to defend mine, not like that."

Zhou Tai had responded to the ambushes by defending Sun Quan, using his own body as a shield to protect him and thus was currently wounded badly and receiving treatment from a physician who luckily had been passing, Hua Tuo. It was in that moment they saw one of the guards from the camp gate rushing up to them.

"Lord Sun Ce, it's Taishi Ci, he's come for another duel."

Sun Ce smirked. "About time, alright, this time I'll win him over, no matter what."

So word soon spread and everybody that could began to gather and bear witness while Sun Ce rode out with his weapon at the ready to meet Taishi Ci who was waiting for him, also holding his weapon at the ready.
