Training in the Jungle
After everyone finished eating, Lana, Kiawe, and Mallow approached the group.
"Okay, everyone; because you passed all our trials, you can now take on Kahuna Olivia's Grand Trial." said Mallow.
"Oh boy!" said Ed.
"And also, now that you completed your trial here, you are now free to capture Pokemon here." said Mallow.
"Splendid; now we can capture more Pokemon for the Poke Pelago" said Edd. Mallow then walks to the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy and gave each of them two pokeballs that were yellow and green striped on top. "What kind of pokeballs are these?"
"These are called Nest Balls." replied Mallow. "These can capture Pokemon easier if they're weaker than the Pokemon you're battling them with."
"Then that should be no problem with us." said Eddy with a smirk. Mallow then looks in her pot and saw there was still some Super Mallow Special in it.
"Perhaps I'll let the Totem Lurantis have the rest of this." said Mallow. "Don't want good food to go to waste."
"It was really good food, Mallow." said Ed.
"Thanks, Ed." said Mallow.
"So where is the Grand Trial anyway?" asked Sarah.
"Well, first you return to Heahea City, then you go through a tunnel south of there called Diglett's Tunnel." said Mallow.
"I know that tunnel; that's where I found Larvitar's egg." said Maxiley.
"Really?" asked Sarah.
"Yeah." replied Maxiley.
"Once you get through, you'll arrive at Route 9; once there, travel east through Memorial Hill and then the Akala Outskirts, and then travel north of the Akala Outskirts and you'll arrive at the Ruins of Life where the Grand Trial will take place." said Mallow.
"Thank you for the information, Mallow." said Edd.
"My pleasure; enjoy the rest of your journey, you too, Ed." said Mallow, winking at Ed, making him smile goofily. She, along with Lana and Kiawe, walked away.
"You know, guys; my hometown, Konikoni City is west of Route 9." said Maxiley. "Maybe we can stop there; there's a store there that sells evolution stones where my dad works."
"First things first; we should take the opportunity to capture more Pokemon here to help develop the Poke Pelago, as well as train our Pokemon in preparation for the Grand Trial." said Edd.
"Great idea, sockhead." said Eddy. The group went deep into Lush Jungle. As Maxiley looked around the grass, he sees a small brown Pokemon walking out of the grass.
"Hey, a Bonsly." said Maxiley. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at the Bonsly.
"Bonsly, the Bonsai Pokemon. If its body gets too damp, it will die. So, in a process reminiscent of sweating, its eyes expel moisture." said the Rotom Pokedex. Maxiley takes a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Crabrawler, go!" said Maxiley, throwing Crabrawler's pokeball and releasing him. "Okay, Crabrawler, Rock Smash!" Crabrawler's pincer glows white and he smashes Bonsly with it, dealing super effective damage to it, knocking it to the ground. Maxiley quickly takes out an empty pokeball and tosses it at Bonsly, hitting it and sucking it in. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Yes! Bonsly's mine!"
"Way to go, Maxie." said Sarah. Edd looks at the Rotom Pokedex to look up Bonsly's information.
"Okay, Maxiley, it says here your Bonsly's a girl, she knows Fake Tears, Copycat, Flail, Low Kick, Throw, Mimic, and Feint Attack." said Edd. "She has the Sturdy ability."
With Edd, he was exploring a large patch of grass when he comes across an apelike Pokemon with white fur, gray muzzle, hands, and feet, wearing a purple shawl on its back, and holding a fan made of leaves and a purple handle. He points the Rotom Pokedex at the Pokemon to see what it was.
"Oranguru, the Sage Pokemon. Oranguru don't get along with each other, so they're always engaging in battles of wits to decide which one is superior." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Intriguing; this Pokemon prefers to battle with its mind." said Edd. He takes out his Ariados' pokeball and lets her out of it. "Ariados, please use Sucker Punch!" The Oranguru was about to do something when Ariados jabs one of her front legs that was coated in dark energy forward and hits its stomach, doing super effective damage, just as it releases a small blast of blue psychic energy, which sends Ariados flying, doing super effective damage.
"Now please use Bug Bite!" says Edd. Ariados crawls at the Oranguru and bites down on it, doing super effective damage to it. Edd then quickly pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Oranguru, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball then wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Success." said Edd. "Good thing I double-checked Ariados' data a while ago and learned he now knew Bug Bite, as well as Fell Stinger, Swords Dance, and Focus Energy."
"Way to go, sockhead!" said Eddy. Edd watches as his new Oranguru is teleported to storage. He looks up his new Oranguru's information.
"My new Oranguru is a male, he knows Confusion, After You, Taunt, Quash, Stored Power, and Psych Up; and he has the Inner Focus ability which prevents him from flinching." said Edd.
"Look, you guys!" said Ed, pointing at a white and black, lemur like Pokemon wearing half a pale green coconut shell on its head. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at the pokemon.
"Passimian, the Teamwork Pokemon. Berries are its weapons as well as the staple of its diet. The one that can throw a berry the farthest is the boss of the troop." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"I'm going to catch this Pokemon!" said Ed as he pulls out a pokeball. "Flaaffy, come out!" He tosses Flaaffy's pokeball and releases her. "Flaaffy, Charge!" Flaaffy becomes covered in sparks and her special defense increases. Passimian leaps at Flaaffy while raising an arm up while it glows white and smashes it onto Flaaffy. When Passimian lands on the ground, it begins twitching and it becomes surrounded by static.
"It would appear that Flaaffy's Static ability has taken effect on Passimian; now it's paralyzed." said Edd.
"Flaaffy, use Electro Ball!" said Ed. Flaaffy forms a ball made of electricity and launches it at Passimian, hitting it and knocking it back.
"Very good, Ed; by using Electro Ball after using Charge, it became more powerful." said Edd. Passimian runs at Flaaffy, but paralysis stops it in its tracks.
"Tackle!" said Ed. Flaaffy runs at Passimian and rams it in the gut, knocking it to the ground. Ed takes out one of the Nest Balls Mallow gave him and throws it at Passimian; it hits Passimian and sucks it in. After it wiggled around, it clicks and stops. "Yeah! I caught a Passimain, you guys!"
"Way to go, monobrow." said Eddy. Passimian's Nest Ball vanishes and is transported to storage. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and looks up Passimian's information.
"This says Passimian's a boy, he knows Tackle, Leer, Rock Smash, Focus Energy, Beat Up, and Scary Face." said Edd. "He has the Receiver ability which gives him the ability of a defeated ally; for example, if someone defeated your Yungoos, Ed, and you bring out Passimian, it would gain Yungoos' Stakeout ability."
"Cool." said Ed.
"Ooh, a Comfey!" said Sarah. Everyone else looks to see a Comfey. Sarah pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. "I'm catching this Comfey; come out, Salandit!" She throws Salandit's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Salandit, use Smog!" Salandit releases a black smoke from her mouth and it hits Comfey, dealing super effective damage to it. Comfey responds by somersaulting in the air and releasing glowing green leaves that hit Salandit, but not dealing much damage to her. "Salandit, Scratch!" Salandit jumps towards Comfey and scratches it, knocking it to the ground. Sarah takes out a Nest Ball and throws it at Comfey, hitting it, and sucking it in; after a few seconds of wiggling around, it clicks and stops. "Yay! I caught a Comfey!"
"Good work, Sarah." said Maxiley.
"Thanks." replied Sarah. Comfey's Nest Ball vanishes and is transported to storage. Edd uses the Rotom Pokedex to look up Comfey's information.
"According to this, Comfey is female, she knows Helping Hand, Vine Whip, Flower Shield, Leech Seed, Draining Kiss, Magical Leaf, Growth, Wrap, and Sweet Kiss." said Edd. "She has the Flower Veil ability which protects her ally grass type Pokemon from status conditions and prevents any of their stats from being lowered."
Jimmy looks around another part of the jungle when he comes across a Paras.
"I'll catch this Pokemon to help the Poke Pelago." said Jimmy as he releases his Butterfree from his pokeball. "Butterfree, use Gust!" Butterfree releases a large gust of wind from his wings, hitting the Paras, doing super effective damage, and knocking it onto its back. Jimmy quickly pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Paras, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"That was easy." said Jimmy. The pokeball suddenly teleports to storage. Jimmy then looks up the Paras' information on the Rotom Pokedex. "My new Paras is a boy, he knows Scratch, Stun Spore, Poison Powder, Absorb, and Fury Cutter. He has the Effect Spore ability which could poison, paralyze, or put to sleep, any Pokemon hitting him with a part of its body.
Meanwhile, in another part of the Lush Jungle near a large, moss-covered rock, Eddy and his Eevee were facing down a brown, bug Pokemon that had large, spike-covered, pincers on its head.
"What's this Pokemon?" asked Eddy. Edd hands the Rotom Pokedex to Eddy, and he uses it to see what the Pokemon was.
"Pinsir, the Stagbeetle Pokemon. Although it's tough, it can't handle cold well. When night falls, it buries itself in leafage and sleeps." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"This Pokemon looks tough." said Eddy. "You want to battle it, Eevee?" Eevee turns and yips in response. "Okay, Eevee; use Bite!" Eevee runs at the Pinsir and bites down on it, hurting it, and causing it to flinch. "Now use Tackle!" Eevee then rams into the Pinsir's face, making it stagger back. It suddenly glows with an orange aura and it explodes out, hitting Eevee, and knocking him to the ground.
"That was Revenge, Eddy!" said Edd. "Fighting type moves are very effective against normal types like Eevee." This fact made Eddy nervous. He holds out Eevee's pokeball to return him, but Eevee shakes his head in refusal.
"You want to keep battling?" asked Eddy. Eevee nods in response. Eddy then reaches into his pocket, pulls out his Normalium-Z Crystal, and inserts it into his Z-Ring. Eddy does the poses that Ilima showed him, and Z-Energy transfers from him to Eevee, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of him.
"Okay, Eevee! Use Breakneck Blitz!" said Eddy. Eevee moves at very high speed towards the Pinsir, and slams it so hard it goes flying into the moss-covered rock that was there. Seeing that the Pinsir was stunned, Eddy quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it, hitting the Pinsir, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking. Eddy lets out a sigh of relief.
"That was quite a tough battle." said Edd.
"Yeah." said Eddy. The Pinsir's pokeball is teleported to storage. Eddy checks out its information on the Rotom Pokedex. "This says my Pinsir is a girl, she knows Vice Grip, Focus Energy, Bind, Seismic Toss, Harden, Revenge, and Vital Throw; and she has the Hyper Cutter ability which makes it so his opponents can lower her attack power." All of a sudden, the moss-covered rock that was there suddenly started to glow.
"Why is that rock glowing? Is the moss luminescent?" asked Edd.
"Never mind the rock; look at my Eevee!" said Eddy. Everyone looks to see that Eevee was glowing.
"Your Eevee is evolving!" said Maxiley. Everyone watches as Eddy's Eevee starts to change. When he was done, his body was bigger, longer, yellow with a few green protrusions coming out of him, his ears and tail looked like green leaf fronds, and coming out of his forehead was another green leaf. Eddy holds the Rotom Pokedex towards his newly evolved Eevee to see what it was.
"Leafeon, the Verdant Pokemon, and an evolved form of Eevee. It gets its nutrition from photosynthesis. It lives a quiet life deep in forests where clean rivers flow." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Congratulations, Eddy!" said Edd. Eddy looks at his new Leafeon's information.
"This says he now knows Razor Leaf, Grass Whistle, Magical Leaf, and Giga Drain. He now has the Leaf Guard ability which makes him immune to status conditions when it's very sunny out." said Eddy.
"Speaking of the sun, it's starting to set." said Edd. Ed starts to yawn.
"Ed is sleepy." said Ed.
"We should head back to the Pokemon Center." said Maxiley.
"Good idea." said Sarah. With that, the group leaves the Lush Jungle and start heading back to the Pokemon Center to rest up for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, on a boat, out on the ocean; Eddy's brother was wobbling all over the deck due to boat rocking back and forth on the waves. He suddenly teeters too close to the side of it and falls overboard.
"Help!" yells Eddy's brother.
Somewhere underwater, a small baby shark sees Eddy's brother's lower body kicking around. It swims over to him and bites down on his butt.
"AUUUUGGGGHHHHH!" Eddy's brother screams as he writhes in agony. A life preserver hits his head and he grabs onto it. When he's hoisted out of the water, the baby shark was clinging to his butt. Grumbling, he pulls it off, and tosses it back into the water. "This had better be worth the pain I'm going through!" Once Eddy's brother's butt was bandaged up, the boat continues on towards the Alola Region.
