Calling Home
After Lincoln and Nemona had lunch, they leave the restaurant and walk around Mesagoza for a while before Nemona remembers something.
"I have something to give you." said Nemona.
"What?" asked Lincoln.
"It's in my dorm room; I'll go get it." said Nemona before running off towards the academy, leaving Lincoln to himself. He lets his Pokemon out of their pokeballs to keep him company.
As Lincoln and his Pokemon sit at a table in the central plaza; he looks at his Rotom Phone and decides to call his friend, Clyde, back in Royal Woods.
"I wonder how Clyde's doing back in Royal Woods?" said Lincoln. "I hope he hasn't been too lonely without me; but he still has our other friends to hang out with." He begins dialing the number for Clyde's device.
Back in Royal Woods at the McBride residence, Clyde, Rusty, Liam, and Zach were watching an episode of Operation: Dessert Storm, in the living room. Rusty sees that Clyde really wasn't into the show right now, and he knew why.
"Still miss Lincoln?" Rusty asked Clyde, who just lets out a depressed sigh.
"I still can't believe that his family would just toss him out onto the streets over something as dumb as luck." said Clyde.
"Wasn't right of his family to do that." said Liam.
"I'm pretty sure just about everyone in Royal Woods feels that way, too." said Zach. Clyde's dads come into the living room with a tray of fruit.
"Here's some snacks for you while you watch your show, Clyde sweetie." said Harold as he sets the tray on the coffee table.
"Thanks, dads." said Clyde. Just then, his device starts to ring. He looks at it, and sees he was getting a call from an unknown number.
"Who is it?" asked Howard.
"It doesn't say." said Clyde.
"Just let it go to voicemail and we'll see who it is. It could be one of the Louds again." said Howard.
"Their voices are the last things I want to hear." said Harold. A few seconds later, they all hear a familiar voice that made Harold make an exception to what he just said.
"Hi, Clyde; it's Lincoln. I'm calling to..." Lincoln started to say on the phone; but before he could say anything else, Clyde quickly answers.
"I'm here! I'm here!" says Clyde as his dads and friends gather around him. "Hang on, I'll put you on video chat." He does so, and Lincoln's face appears on the screen.
"Hey, everybody." said Lincoln with a smile.
"Lincoln! Are you okay?!" asked Clyde with worry in his voice, and tears in his eyes.
"How have you been?" asked Howard.
"Where are you?" asked Harold.
"I'm fine, everybody." said Lincoln. Clyde lets out a sniffle, and wipes tears out of his eyes.
"Lincoln, I am so sorry me and my dads weren't here when your family kicked you out onto the streets!" said Clyde, surprising Lincoln.
"How did you find out about that?" asked Lincoln.
"Your sister, Leni, blabbed it to a couple of friends of hers, then they posted it online." explained Rusty.
"So, the entire city knows about what they did to you, and they definitely didn't approve of it." said Zach.
"Everyone's been pretty much against your family." said Liam.
"Your parents have been arrested." said Clyde.
"Yes; apparently your family didn't know that throwing someone under the age of eighteen out of his or her home is very illegal." said Howard.
"All your sisters' friends have turned their backs on them." said Clyde.
"Bobby dumped Lori." said Zach.
"Normally, I would've been happy to hear that; but after what Lori did to you, I don't really care." said Clyde.
"Luan's Funny Business went down the toilet." said Rusty. "Pretty sure that parents won't hire a birthday clown who mistreats kids."
"And we're pretty certain that Lori, Leni, Luna, and Luan won't be getting any babysitting jobs anytime soon also." said Zach.
"Lynn was kicked off all her sports teams." said Liam.
"Yeah; Ronnie Anne's been doing all sorts of stuff to Lucy, the twins, and Lisa at our school." said Rusty. "She's been shoving Lucy, Lola, and Lisa into trash cans and giving them swirlies; but since Lana would've enjoyed those, Ronnie Anne just shoves her into lockers and hangs her from the school's flagpole."
"Isn't that a little too much?" asked Lincoln.
"Why should you care what's happening to them?" asked Rusty.
"Even if they did treat me unfairly, they're still my family." said Lincoln.
"It's very mature of you to not hold a grudge against your family." said Harold.
"Even though they deserve what they're getting." said Rusty.
"So, where are you right now, buddy?" asked Clyde.
"I'm in a place called the Paldea Region, in a city called Mesagoza." said Lincoln. "I'm attending a school called the Naranja Academy."
"What's it like?" asked Clyde. Just then, Sprigatito and Pawmi each jump onto one of Lincoln's shoulders and look at the screen, getting Lincoln's friends' attention.
"Is that cat green?" asked Liam.
"Maybe it's an alien." suggested Zach.
"And what's that orange thing on your other shoulder?" asked Rusty.
"That's Pawmi." said Lincoln. "And the cat is Sprigatito."
"They look so precious." said Howard. Cleopawtra and Nepurrititi jump onto Clyde's lap and look at the screen, seeing Sprigatito, making them paw at the screen while Sprigatito did the same to Lincoln's Rotom Phone screen.
"AWWWWWW." everyone says in unison.
"What are those supposed to be?" asked Liam.
"These two are Pokemon found here in the Paldea Region." said Lincoln.
"Pokewhat?" replied Rusty. Lincoln goes on to tell everyone about everything he's learned about Pokemon in the Paldea Region.
"Pokemon sound so awesome!" said Clyde. Lincoln thinks about something for a second.
"Do you think you can head over to my family's house so I can talk to them?" asked Lincoln, surprising them.
"Why would you want to talk to them after what they did to you?" asked Clyde.
"A part of me still misses them, especially Lily." said Lincoln. "I don't hold anything against her at least."
"Well, Lily hasn't gotten any bad treatment." said Clyde. "I heard that she's been very depressed since you've been gone."
"Awww, man. I don't want Lily to be sad." said Lincoln. "Now I really want to talk to them."
"Well, if it's that important to you, then we'll head over there right now." said Harold.
"Yeah, they haven't been answering any phone calls anyway; since from what I've heard, they've been getting nothing but ones from people chewing them out for what they did." said Rusty.
"And your parents couldn't come over here anyway since they've been put under house arrest." said Zach. They stayed on the phone as they all exit the house, and get into the McBrides' minivan, then head over to the Loud House.
When they arrive, they see parts of it covered in toilet paper, and the mailbox was knocked over, even though they don't know whether someone pushed it over or it fell over on its own. They also see Lana grabbing a few sheets of the toilet paper, and rubbing it on her cheek.
"At least they're using two-ply." said Lana. She then notices the McBrides, Rusty, Zach, and Liam; pulling up into their driveway. The passengers exit the vehicle and start walking over to Lana, making her a little nervous.
"Hi, Lana." said Clyde in a monotone voice.
"H-H-Hey, everyone." said Lana. "How have you been?"
"A lot better." said Clyde, before he shows Lana his device's screen with Lincoln's face on it.
"Hi, Lana." said Lincoln in a neutral tone, surprising Lana.
"Lincoln!" said Lana as she snatches Clyde's device out of his hands. "Where are you?!"
"Is the rest of our family there?" asked Lincoln. "I want to talk to all of you."
"Hang on a second!" says Lana as she runs into her house, with the McBrides, Rusty, Zach, and Liam; following after her. Once in the living room, she calls for the rest of her family; and they soon gather there.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" asked Rita. The Louds then see the McBrides, Rusty, Zach, and Liam were there.
"What are they doing here?" asked Lynn Sr, nervously.
"Probably want to chew us out in person." said Lynn Jr.
"Actually, Clyde's on video chat with your brother." said Howard as he gestures to Clyde's device in Lana's hand, surprising everyone.
"Lincoln?!" says the other Louds as they gather around Clyde's device and look at the screen to see Lincoln on it.
"Lincoln! Are you okay?!" asked Rita.
"Wincoln! Wincoln!" says Lily as she reaches for the screen.
"Are you hurt?!" asked Lola.
"Where are you?!" asked Lori. Lincoln looks at his family with a blank stare.
"I'm okay." said Lincoln in an emotionless voice. The family knew why he didn't seem too happy to see them.
"Lincoln! We are SO sorry for kicking you out of the house!" says Luna.
"We were stupid and wrong to do that over a superstition!" said Lynn Sr.
"And speaking of superstitions; we think LYNN has something she has to say to you!" said Lori as she points Clyde's device towards Lynn Jr, who has a look of shame on her face. Tears build up in her eyes as she looks at Lincoln on the screen.
"I am so sorry I blamed you for me losing that softball game, and accusing you of being bad luck!" said Lynn Jr.
"LJ, remember the new house rule?" asked Rita. Lynn Jr lets out a sigh.
"Never use the L-word in this house." replied Lynn Jr.
"Remember that the reason he was at the game that started the whole thing in the first place was because you made him go to it." said Luan.
"By threatening him with a baseball bat!" said Rita.
"How did you know she did that?" asked Lincoln.
"Lisa saw it on her home surveillance system and told us." said Lori.
"Oh." said Lincoln. "I still can't believe that you all kicked me out of the house; especially after that promise that Mom and Dad made before."
"What promise?" asked Lynn Sr.
"That one promise you made after we thought you were getting rid of us but you were talking about your tie collection." said Lincoln. "You told us you would never get rid of any of us."
"Oh, that promise." said Lynn Sr as he slaps his forehead.
"I can't believe we forgot about that." said Rita.
"I thought you all didn't love me anymore!" said Lincoln, surprising his family.
"Lincoln! Don't ever believe that!" said Lori.
"We, totes, love you!" said Leni.
"How is throwing him out onto the streets in his pajamas over a superstition without a second thought showing that you love him?" asked Clyde.
"You got us there, dude." said Luna as she and the rest of the Louds, except Lincoln, look away with shame.
"Lincoln; please come back to Royal Woods!" said Lori.
"We miss you!" said Lola.
"But I like it here in Paldea, and the Naranja Academy." said Lincoln.
"What does that dumb academy have that your old school doesn't?!" asked Lynn Jr. Sprigatito jumps onto Lincoln's shoulder, surprising the Louds.
"Kitty-cat!" said Lily.
"Why is that cat green?" asked Lana. Lincoln goes on to explain to his family about Pokemon, what he's learned at Naranja Academy so far, and shows them the ones he's caught already.
"These Pokemon as they're called are such fascinating creatures." said Lisa.
"Pawmi looks totes adorbs." said Leni.
"I like the bug ones! They're big!" said Lana. "Makes me wish I was there in Paldea so I can eat one."
"Lana; unlike the bugs in America, bug Pokemon are capable of defending themselves; so if you tried to eat a bug Pokemon, it'll make you wish you didn't." said Lincoln.
"Oh, okay then." said Lana.
"I'm planning on sticking around here until I finish my education here." said Lincoln. "I have the scholarship, so I might as well make full use of it."
"Well, I guess if you want to, then we suppose it's okay." said Rita.
"After what we did to you, it's the least we can do." said Lynn Sr.
"Maybe later today I can give you all a video tour of Mesagoza and Naranja Academy." said Lincoln.
"That would be great." said Lori.
"Why not do it now?" asked Lola.
"A friend I made here is meeting me here for something." said Lincoln.
"I'm glad you're making friends there, son." said Lynn Sr.
"So, what's your friend like?" asked Lori.
"Well, her name..." Lincoln started to say.
"Her?!" said his sisters in unison with joy.
"You met a girl?!" said Lori with glee in her voice.
"What's she like?" asked Lola with excitement. Lincoln easily figured out why his sisters were acting the way they are right now.
"Hey! Nemona and I are just friends!" said Lincoln. "Anyway, she's the president of the Naranja Academy's student council, and she's a champion-ranked Pokemon trainer at the academy."
"She sounds like an interesting person." said Rita.
"Well, anyway; I'll call you a little later and I'll give you all the tour." said Lincoln. "I'll call you all in about an hour."
"Sounds good, son." said Lynn Sr.
"Clyde, can you tell Ronnie Anne that I called?" asked Lincoln.
"Sure thing, buddy." replied Clyde. "She'll definitely want to talk to you."
"Have fun with your 'friend'." said Luan with a smirk on her face. Lincoln sighs as he ends the call.
End of Chapter 6
Authors' Note: We know we said we didn't want Lincoln's family or friends joining him in the Paldea Region, but maybe just having Clyde joining him wouldn't hurt. We'll let you decide in a poll we'll be making. And for Ionocoln shippers, that will still be the main pairing in this fanfic, and some other girls will probably show interest in Lincoln also.
