Prologue - Leftoverture
This story begins as most of this style do;
A human from our world is transported to a one previously only seen as fiction. A world of dreams - escape, rather than ambition, though one can easily pick up the one as easily as the other.
Their memories are intact, they are given a means of survival - here, for Laine, both sword and a Devil Fruit, though neither are specifically built for combat in mind -, and they are placed near or upon the tracks of that barrelling locomotive called 'Canon'.
Some run towards it, hoping to catch the train that will help them make a mark on the world. Some run away, well too aware of the danger held within the iron horse known as 'plot'. And others, balancing ignorance with pessimism, simply assume that they are not so important as to catch the interest of such a beast.
All of them, in their own way, are wrong.
All of them, in their own way, will be caught by the creature regardless.
One's only prayer is that they may be caught by a kind one.

Author's Notes
This chapter's title is based on Leftoverture (the album by Kansas).
This is the Luck of the Draw rewrite (proper). The current plan is for Raine to have an adventure minus the Straw Hats - Story L Side A, while Side B... well, it'll be contextualized when we get there. The planned length for the whole thing is 9 chapters (though it might not fit that neatly together, it is the current plan), and then she'll synergize into the Witt and Redux story once this one is complete + that one reaches the same point (I'll be writing and posting both in an order that lets that work, though they'll be as separate fics to reduce confusion).
How this relates to Shuffle Odyssey: same base world state but different starting points lead to immediate timeline changes. The world is a mix of the Anime, Manga, video games, and Live Action adaptations of One Piece, with a bit of original stuff to act as glue.
Raine timeline - West Blue, OC Crew
Laine timeline - East Blue, Straw Hat Crew, coincides with Witt's journey (slightly ahead, so that's why Novel A style treatment).
Without Raine's (and to some degree, Witt's) landing in West Blue, a large number of the crew from that side of the story do not survive their stories. And the ones that do mostly just… have regular lives, save for a few who were already entangled In Some Shit that wasn't actively lethal.
