Things Were Going Good…
Summary: Drake, walking home, takes in the changes that happened to his town and gets a surprise question from his child.
Timeline: Nearly a month had passed since the Jacob Incident, and nearly three months had passed since the Day of Unity was thwarted.
Drake sighed with contentment, a soft smile playing on his lips. The florist was heading home from the store, shopping bag in hand. He was taking his time getting home so he could take in the sights.
All around him, witches and humans interacted like it was a natural thing to do. He looked to his right and saw a young witch couple cooing at a human baby. He looked to his right and chuckled as he passed the local theater.
Just as many witches were waiting in line to see the latest GWA movie as there were humans. Drake shook his head as he remembered a witch telling him the Good Witch series was peek comedy.
"Well, to each their own," he muttered and sighed. "Grandpa, I wish you could see your dream finally become real."
Drake decided he dragged his feet long enough and picked up his pace. He got home and frowned as he noticed something.
"Wait, didn't those Blacklight Roses just bud a few days again?" Drake wondered, staying at the fully bloomed plants he kept near the stairs to his home.
He made a note to check on his flowers later and headed upstairs.
"You're late!" the playful voice of Sally retorted.
Drake smiled at this and made his way to the kitchen. He set the shopping on the counter to the right of his wife and wrapped her in a gentle hug.
"Sorry," he replied playfully, "Got lost in the sights again."
Sally shook her head and gently grabbed her husband's chin. She kissed him on the cheek, "accidentally" smearing dough on his chin.
Drake chuckled at this, let Sally go, and grabbed a towel to wipe his chin.
"Well, I leave you to do it," he said, cleaning his chin. "Call if you need anything else."
Sally nodded as she went back to making her homemade garlic bread. He checked his chin to make sure it was clean and then headed into the living room. Drake grabbed the remote, took a seat on the couch, and turned to the local news.
It wasn't long before Drake felt a pair of eyes on him and looked to his right. He saw his child looking at him with an all-to-innocent smile and smiled.
"What's up, Mash?" the florist asked casually.
Masha looked at their father in the eyes as their expression turned serious.
"Well, you know how we have a long weekend?" they asked curiously, and Drake nodded. "Well, turns out that so does the demon realm, and this is one weekend while Vee and her friends get knocked down."
Drake cocked an eyebrow as he searched his memory for the term's meaning. It clicked with him a second later, and he remembered that being "knocked-down" was a slang term for the rejuvenation process that has become all the rage in Boiling Isles.
Drake smiled as two scenarios popped into his head. "And you want to head over there to babysit your little girlfriend?"
Masha suddenly turned a little bashful and blushed slightly as they said, "I was thinking about getting "knocked-down" and seeing the Isles through kid's eyes."
Drake laughed good-naturally at this and reached over. He gave his child a quick pat on the head, which caused Masha's face to get a little more red with annoyance, but didn't say anything.
"I don't see a problem with it," Drake said lightheartedly, then turned serious. "But you also need to get your mom's okay as well. This isn't something I can make without her input."
"What do you need my input about?" Sally asked as she strolled in from the kitchen.
Masha wasted no time telling their mother what they wanted to do for the weekend. Sally frowned in thought and looked at her husband. Drake shrugged, showing that he was fine with the idea, and the newspaper writer looked at her child.
"I'm not against the idea," she said.
Masha beamed at this and looked ready to bolt for the door. Sally stopped her by holding up a hand.
"But if we allow this, you have to promise us that you will listen to your babysitters," Sally said firmly.
Masha groaned and slumped slightly. "C'mon, I'm not a baby."
"Not yet," Drake pointed out, "And remember, the Boiling Isles is a dangerous place. But if you promise to listen to the Clawthorne and Mrs. Noceda, then we will let you go."
Masha groaned again but nodded. "...Fine!"
Drake smiled and said, "Then you can go!"
Masha cheered and rushed out of the room with another word. Drake shook his head and settled on the couch to continue watching the news.
"Yeah, Grandpa, you would really like what we're building here," Drake mused softly, "True peace for both of our races."

Jacob stepped out of the "Witch House" with magic potions in hand. He grinned as he finally had the means to end the witches' taint on his town, and their creations would bring that about.

So, I don't know if I screwed this up somewhere, but at the beginning of the "Family That Will Grow Forever," a month had passed since the Day of Unity. That entire story takes place over two months, so the Day of Unity happened three months ago.
Also, we reached the point of Masha's story arc in the managed story, so that means we're finally learning how someone like Jacob could beat witches like the Clawthornes.
