Sam Part 1 - 8/10
I'm not totally sure if you guys have forgotten about Elizabeth "Z" Delgado.
Well truth and be told? Z was probably the most forgettable of the Rangers as she really didn't contribute to anything in SPD aside from having potential with being a love interest to Sam, which didn't really go anywhere.
Speaking of Sam? We are subjected to know who this kid is.
Sam is easily prone to bullying from other kids that would mock him as Sam would try to play basketball with them.
Sam is seen to have magical powers and just happens to cause more harm than good with his powers.
We got some intense fighting here in the Sam saga in SPD and it's some of the best combat displayed here until the tail end of the season. Hence it's high placement in the rankings.
The Orangehead proves to be a worthy adversary against the Rangers and for once? We didn't get to see the Rangers be triumph at the end of the episode.
Something fresh, thought albeit it wouldn't be thanks to the multiform of two-part episodes we would get in SPD.
The episode closes with Jack and Z getting both of their hineys whipped and they both try to WHIP IT GOOD like Devo but alas they couldn't as the Orangehead is too much for them and the episode closes on a cliffhanger.
People were also turned into dolls from Bugglesworth but nobody cares about that.
We get some nice battering action done in this episode.
And episodes like this that include nothing but action and fisticuffs I'm happy with. Even if Jack, Z and Sam are not the most likeable characters ever in Power Rangers.
I'll talk more about Sam in the next write-up...
Mighty fine episode all things considered.
