Beginnings Part 2 - 9.5/10
Oh my god. I'm nostalgic for both of these episodes. This takes me back and I can't believe this season aired 8 years ago.
True story? I saw both of these episodes for the first time when I was flipping through the channels and watching Power Rangers SPD and School Of Rock at the same time.
That was an awesome weekend. So happy that 5th Grade was almost over too.
How the hell I can remember that is a question best left unanswered.
There is an epic comic book presentation in the very beginning.
Reminds me of those old Spider-Man cartoons I watched when I was younger. I'm hooked with this season from the get go.
We are introduced to Bridge, Syd and Sky.
Syd is sweet but can act like a sinister snobby brat from time to time. Sky is serious and self-spoken and Bridge is frickin' off-the-wall crazy.
They are sent to stop Jack and Z. HOMELESS PEOPLE with running off with things that don't belong to them.
We get some excellent dialogue from the Rangers as I expected Syd to be mopey and be the typical "dumb blonde" of the group but I was wrong from the onset.
Syd: It's a hologram! It's not real!
I like Sydney "Syd" Drew.
Jack and Z run off as Bridge closes the two of them escaping with this line.
Bridge: That went well.
I like Bridge Carson.
The little 5th grader inside of me had a mindset that said "I like the green guy." Real talk.
We are then introduced to the Krybots. The Putties of the Season and they make good punching bags for the Rangers to pound on for the season.
Syd, Sky and Bridge morph for the first time into the Power Rangers.
Syd: I'm Pink! My favorite color!
Bridge: Yay!
Syd: You rock Bridgey! You look good in Green!
Sky: BLUE!? I wanted to be the Red Ranger! :(
The three of them are outnumbered as Jack and Z run off. Z disapproves to help them out but Jack decides to help them out anyway. Despite the consequences they will face.
Z and Jack are later appointed by Cruger a BIG FRICKIN' BLUE DOG to become Power Rangers. Z the Yellow Ranger and Jack the Red Ranger.
At the same concomitant that all five of them become Power Rangers? Grumm is attacking Earth and it's up to them to stop them.
Beginnings is a extravagant opening to the season.
We got some good characters that develop well over time and if it wasn't for the fact that Piggy and Grumm had to hog up some unnecessary screen time? Then Beginnings would be the #1 episode of SPD.
I'll be straight up and post my rankings for the cast of Power Rangers in SPD.
1. Sky
2. Bridge
3. Syd
4. Kat
5. Jack
6. Cruger
7. Nova
8. Z
9. Sam
As you can see? The rankings haven't changed much from my 2013 Power Rangers Rankings.
