Pre-Story Notice: Greetings. This is the official continuation of Fox McCloude's "Emerald Knight" story. I actually have been in communication with Fox in regards to this story for awhile. I wanted to make a continuation of their story, because I saw great potential in the premise. I mean, an Izuku Midoriya who became a Green Lantern? Of course I had to try and continue it. While the whole story, by and large has been planned for, I will need a fair bit of time to flesh out the story minutiae. If anyone knows the GL mythos it's... hefty. As for the MHA parts, at least for the earliest tales, they don't factor much (besides Izuku himself). Also for those reading on AO3... the only reason I hadn't uploaded a version on here was because I wanted to make a cool Cover Art for this story (yes the Cover Art is made by me and is on DeviantArt too). The OG story had Cover Art from another artist on DeviantArt, and I just didn't want to use that if I could avoid it.

Chapter 4: Welcome to Green Lantern Central

"WHAAA!"

"Pipe down kid! You're givin' me an ear ache!" Kilowog (aka. the huge alien) shook his head.

Izuku tried...he really did, but the rush from flying through space, at impossible speeds, wasn't something he could get used to - at a moments notice.

"Young man...please calm yourself...it's really hurting our ears how loud you are." Sinestro (aka. the debonair alien) took a different approach to his comrade, who always preferred the blunt way of things.

"I-I-I'M SORRY!" Izuku bawled out his apology, hands waving haphazardly, with the trademark Midoriya waterworks in tow. Waterworks so voluminous one could mistake it for the tail of a comet (if they were observing from afar).

Kilowog was getting really annoyed by the kids' antics. His fists were balled up, and veins were popping on his head. "Again with the yelling! Kid...do ya want me to knock ya out till we get to HQ!?"

With that Izuku closed his sprinklers and kept as quiet as can be - till they reached their destination.

From that point on the journey was relatively quiet, besides the zipping sound made from the trio streaking across the stars. The sights Izuku saw while flying through interstellar space were...something he couldn't imagine in his wildest dreams! With his dad being an engineer and astronaut in the US, Izuku had plenty of exposure to 'space stuff' and thought what he'd read about them, was already marvelous. However, being able to see things like other star systems, galaxies, star clusters and nebula in the flesh, was a whole 'nother experience.

Arriving in Sector 0, near Planet Oa, Headquarters of the Guardians of the Universe and Green Lantern Corps...awaiting hails from Oa security

Izuku was curious what that meant exactly. Also...'where did that voice come from? Did the others hear it too? Am I going crazy from space radiation exposure!?' The greenette boy couldn't help but flail about, worried about potentially life altering, and life threatening details in minutia.

Sinestro spoke up: "Looks like we're in Sector 0 now, should be getting a call from system security any minute now." The red alien, with pointy ears waited for security to message the trio.

[This is the Oa security detail, on behalf of the Guardians of the Universe, and the Green Lanterns. Confirming your identities...]

[This is Thaal Sinestro, Lantern of Sector 1417, returning to HQ. Security, we have a new lantern with us, from Sector 2814...] Sinestro paused, quiet for a few moments. Izuku looked on and saw that even Kilowog was solemn, and he knew why. 'Abin Sur...' The boy's head also hung low.

[I'm...sorry but we lost Abin Sur...]

Kilowog and Sinestro flew quietly, their pace slowing a little (with which Izuku obliged). Oa Security was also quiet, but a reply soon came:

[Acknowledged...a terrible loss for the Green Lanterns]

[It really is...Abin Sur was the best among us...]

[Confirming Sinestro's group...]

'Man they don't mess around do they.' The giant of an alien piped up: [Lantern of Sector 687, Kilowog returning to HQ]

After a few awkward moments of silence:

[Acknowledged...welcome back Kilowog]

[Good to be back]

[Now confirming, new Green Lantern of Sector 2814...]

Izuku was quiet until Kilowog elbowed the teen, "Ouch! What was that for!?" The 'huge alien' snorted, "It's your turn, introduce yourself to Lantern Security kid!"

Remembering the inspirational words of All Might: 'puff out your chest, hold your head high, and announce, I AM HERE!' Izuku readied himself for his introduction to the Green Lantern Corps.

[My name is Izuku Midoriya, Green Lantern of Sector 2814...reporting for duty!] Izuku couldn't help but salute, yet it was to no one in particular.

[Acknowledged...welcome Izuku Midoriya].

The three lanterns, with permission from planet security, flew towards their destination.

/Headquarters of the Green Lanterns and Guardian's of the Universe - The Planet Oa

"Welcome to Lantern Central kid."

"Wow! Haha! This. Is. AMAZING!" Izuku marvelled at everything on Oa. From the futuristic (and admittedly alien) architecture, to the lanterns buzzing around his side of the planet. Oa, was far beyond anything he could imagine, and he's seen basically every sci-fi movie made since the 20th Century.

The greenette could hardly contain his excitement. 'Too bad I don't have a notebook on me. Maybe I can ask for a digital pad for taking down notes!?'

"Say Mr. Sinestro and Mr. Kilowog. Could I get a note pad or something so I can write down what I've seen?"

"Note...pad? What is that? Is that some sort of transcription device?" Sinestro had never heard of a 'note pad' and by Midoriya's description of it, the tool was likely some sort rudimentary transcription device. Perhaps like those ancient ink boards his people had centuries ago?

As for Kilowog he had a better idea of what the boy was talking about. His people were just coming into a new technological age, so still used ink and partchment for transcribing things.

"Yeah kid, we'll get ya one of our digital transcribers - has oodles of data to store your notes on. From what I remember it works like one of your world's personal computers, but...much more advanced."

Izuku beamed at his large companion. He couldn't wait to scribble everything he'd get to see on that digi-pad. Hopefully no Kacchan's were around that would explode the device. 'Though...it's made by the lanterns so likely is super durable - perfectly suited for space travel.'

"Anyway...young man, we must report to the Guardians about your circumstance and to officially welcome you into the fold. Please...follow me and Kilowog." Sinestro and Kilowog took the lead, and headed towards the very large, central structure on the planet. It was easily the largest piece of architecture that Izuku had ever seen.

'I'm gonna have to get used to this...aren't I?' Izuku swallowed hard, nervous energy vibrating through him. He was taking a huge leap into/on a new world! As his mom would say: Best foot forward honey!

/HQ - Guardian's Tower

Up close the central building - known as Guardian's Tower - was even more maginificent. Izuku really wished he had something to take notes with - but he made a mental note to bookmark this as a retrospective.

Entering into the building he could see that it was abuzz with activity. Izuku's eyes widened as he took in the myriad of species that made up the Green Lantern Corp! Many weren't even remotely 'humanoid' and he was honestly glad that Earth had people with similarly strange appearances. Otherwise he'd...definitely be freaking out right now!

"Wow! So much variety, and only some are vaguely humanoid, meaningthatscientistsweredefinitelywrongaboutthediversityoflifeoutthere-"

"Hey kid! KID!"

As per usual Izuku was fully absorbed into his own internal world of mutterings and musings. SO much so, that Kilowog had to shake some sense into the boy. Due to still being clad in his lantern uniform (with the accompanying powers), Izuku was...a lot harder to shake out of it. He was about to chop Izuku on the head (as light as possible of course), but just as that action occurred to the large alien, Izuku's focus snapped to something in the distance. "Oh! Mr. Kilowog, Sir! Is that where we're heading?"

Kilowog looked in the direction Izuku pointed and - "Yeah. That's the Central Chambers - the meeting place for the Guardians." Kilowog looked serious and then turned to face the young human boy. "Kid. Be on your best behaviour. The Guardians are a no nonsense bunch. Just introduce yourself...politely. They may ask you a few questions. If they do: answer them respectfully. They're arguably the most powerful beings in the universe, and certainly more powerful then us Lanterns. Don't. Piss. Em. Off!"

Izuku felt extremely nervous after that. His entire body was shaking - comically so. However what disturbed Kilowog and Sinestro, was that his bones were rattling along with his nerves. "Um...kid? You okay?"

"R-r-r-r-right. Y-y-y-y-yes. Ch-chchchch-chipper!" The boy gave an unconvincing thumbs up, so Sinestro decided to help him out.

"Young man...don't be nervous. The Guardians are tough but fair. Just approach them with the respect they deserve and all should be fine. Your nerves only fail you in that respect."

Kilowog slapped Izuku on the back, causing the boy to jump a little. However his shaking did stop. "That's right kid! The Guardian's can be a bit stuffy, but they're keepers of the peace and order in the universe. So long as you approach them with respect and don't make a complete fool of yourself – you should be fine!"
