Total Drama Grand Act: Diverge Play

Prologue: A New Ensemble

Day 0, Grand Studios

"So, you're here for the host's position?"

"Yes." the second voice firmly answered. "Though, you didn't have to let me know on such short notice."

"Well the person who fit the job most got… hospitalized, so there's that."

"Oh, I see."

The sounds of a pen briefly scribbling on a piece of paper echoed across the room as two voices continued their conversation. It didn't help either that the office room adorned with minimalist furniture had walls that could emphasize even the softest of noises so the scribbling pen just made it seem… annoying.

"Congrats, Miss Blaineley." said the first female, who looked to be in her early twenties. Her thick, light caramel brown hair just reached down past her shoulders. Her rather fair skin complimented the mint green long-sleeved blouse she was wearing that was just tucked under a pair of white dress pants with matching heeled sandals on her feet. "I'm excited to work with you."

The second woman, the woman with blonde hair in a red dress known as Blaineley O'Halloran made a quick smirk. It was the first time that she got accepted into hosting the actual Total Drama competition instead of being some smarmy aftermath host. She thought it would be a new stepping stone for her.

"Why of course," Blaineley flipped her blonde hair smugly. "Being a solo host for this show wouldn't even be difficult."

"Oh no. You're not the only one hosting." The other young female flashed her a grin, complimenting her rather cheeky mocha brown eyes. "The show starts tomorrow by the way so it's best to get to know at least what the contestants look like."

Blaineley scoffed. "I didn't get your name yet."

"Oh sorry, my bad." the girl chuckled. "Juliana Curie."

"Oh like the scientist?"

"Don't even ask if I'm related or any of the sort."

"Duly noted." The hostess in red said in a sing-song voice. "So now can you please show me the contestants?"

Juliana stood up from her seat. "I'll show you the files."

The girl in green grabbed an organizer from her drawer, and out came around eighteen folders.

"These are the females," Juliana fixed one pile together before gesturing to another pile. "And these are the males. Don't even bother looking at what they are wearing because we had them all wear white for their picture."

"Let's see this one." Blaineley grabbed a random folder from the neat pile on the right and opened it, not even caring about Juliana's last statement. She immediately looked at the picture.

The first male looked like your typical, tall, British prince charming you see in high school. He had golden blond hair that was short and neatly gelled together. His skin was fairly rosy and had a few freckles on his face. His eyes were in a deep blue color that could mesmerize even the most cold-hearted of people. Blaineley was secretly pleased that the first guy on the pile of files was a hot one.

"Oh, who's this handsome fellow?" Blaineley chuckled.

"That's David Jerome Rutherford. Probably just some guy who has girls chasing after him." Juliana took a peek at the file. "Basketball player… can play the guitar… eh, nothing special." She looked back at the older woman, who was staring at his picture. "Hey, aren't you like, in your late thirties? Pretty sure you're married by now."

"Oh dearie, age is just a number." Blaineley scoffed. "And how did you know I was married?"

"...wild guess."

The blonde sneered at the brunette before gesturing to the file the latter was holding. "What about that one?"

"Oh this? Let's see…" Juliana opened the folder. It showed a picture of a tall, skinny, Scottish-English girl with thick, straight, shoulder length ginger colored hair and hazel eyes. Her skin was a fair complexion and her light makeup suited her looks. "Faith Carrington, veteran stage actress, choral director, and playwright. Wow, looks like we have a winner already."

"I'm already excited for this lady." Blaineley cracked a smile. "Just by reading her information, she sounds like a chaotic drama queen."

With that, the blonde hostess grabbed the next file of the guys. As soon as she opened it, she showed the file to Juliana. "Looks like we got ourselves a vocal critic."

"Oh, Lee Chang. Yeah, he's been judging in vocal competitions since he was sixteen." Juliana read a brief portion of the file. "At least that's what it says here."

Lee appears to be a lanky Chinese young man with a yellowish complexion. He has black monolid eyes with short black hair that looks as if he forgot to comb it this morning. He looks really familiar, as if he was in another season, that is, in the future.

"Eh, he's fine. Though he's making it sound like the first guy can't sing." the middle aged hostess commented.

The younger hostess couldn't help but nod in agreement. "Yeah. Should've focused more on talent and not on visuals that just want attention." She grabbed a file from the other pile. "This next girl is Tracy May Laidel, resident magician."

Tracy had her dark blue hair done in low pigtails. The rather short and averagely built American's lightly tanned skin had a few blemishes here and there especially with that light scar on her left cheek. Her eyes were in a deep blue color, and she doesn't appear the type to wear makeup as she only had on a lipstick shade that looks as if it has seen better days.

Blaineley chuckled. "She sounds like a scam."

"It says here that she's a licensed professional." Juliana replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Like cutting bodies in half and fire tricks kind of professional?"

Juliana nodded.

"Okay, now I'm scared." Blaineley winced and looked at the third file that she was about to grab.

This slightly muscular Japanese guy had on an olive green headband wrapped around his forehead, which was primarily used for athletics. He had his short-medium length jet black hair that looked as if it was styled in somewhat poofy spikes. There was also another picture of him in the back but it wasn't attached to the application paper. He looked the same, but his hair was in some sort of bowl cut.

"Kenzo Uchi. Student-athlete, plays a lot of football, but for some reason, he isn't that muscular for a football player." Juliana summed up as she read the file Blaineley was holding. "Ahhh he stopped for a bit."

"Yes," Blaineley nodded in agreement. "Could be one of the only reasons why he lost some muscle. Either that, or those pictures are old."

"Eh, he's kind of boring." the brunette added. "The producers took him into the cast. I have no idea how though. Anyway, I'll show you this next one: a personal pick from me since I know she'll be able to bring some entertainment down the line: Naomi Quain."

Naomi was Canadian and had tanned skin and a look that was as if she had authority over everything. Her dirty blonde hair was styled in a short bob, though it said in the picture that it was taken about a year prior. Her blue eyes were so icy that it felt like they could pierce through your soul, though her red plump lips curved into a mean girl-like smile.

"She seems like the snarky type." Blaineley instantly commented, though this earned her a snicker from Juliana herself. "What?"

"Well, you're not wrong." She shrugged. "I just don't think snarky was the right term."

"Eh, well this next file I'm holding probably gives off the same vibe." Blaineley added. She read the name on the file. "Zade Heussain. Hmm, he already sounds kinda filthy rich."

Zade looked extremely well groomed with a pair of brown eyes, tanned skin, brown-black short hair trimmed neatly and a slight stubble on his chin. His facial features looked as if he were more on the Arab side, though his head seems to be looking a bit lower so when he smiles, he looks kind of… mean.

"He and that Naomi girl would make great opponents." The red hostess commented, her finger pointing towards Naomi's portrait.

"Either that or they become a couple."

"Yeah, that works too."

Juliana handed Blaineley the next female file for them to look at. "I did not pick this one, but I kind of forgot who did."

"Yuju Jang." Blaineley read. "Oh wow, she looks… kinda intimidating."

Yuju wasn't smiling, though the Korean girl's expression could easily be deduced as it was only like that for the sake of intimidatingly aesthetic, ivory-complexioned visuals. Her makeup was also soft and light with her lips in just a peach color and her really dark brown hair was straight and silk, reaching just above her lower back. Her black eyes were just as scary as Naomi's, sharing the same piercing gaze.

"What's with these people and their snarky vibes? We have like, three in a row now!" Blaineley almost complained for a bit… until she grabbed the next file from the males. She sighed in relief as she saw a smiling boy. "This one is Caspian Dove. Odd name though."

Caspian was of South American descent with a tanned complexion. His black hair is a bit long and messy as if he just woke up but for some reason, he still looks pretty tidy compared to Kenzo's try hard spiky hair. His mouth was parted into a smile that his brown eyes also looked as if they were smiling too.

"Ehhh…" Blaineley had one eyebrow up. "He looks way too happy that it's almost creepy."

Juliana had the same, equally confused look but it was directed right at Blaineley. "Hmm? I thought you didn't like snarky people and now you're starting to get creeped out by people who look too happy?" She asked. "Wait till you see the next girl after this one."

She held up a file from the girls' pile. It read: Andrea del Luna.

Even though the photo didn't capture her full body, a quick glance at her and you could tell that she was short, frail, and rosy pale in stature. She had straight pearl blonde hair that drapes down to her upper back. This was styled as a French braid, tied with a white ribbon. Her eyes were a bit big giving the doe look and they were icy blue in color, but they look rather frightened.

"She definitely would not last long in the competition." Juliana guessed.

Blaineley jeered at her soon to be co host. "Now now dear, it's not right for you to judge people based off of their looks."

"...You're not my mom." scoffed the brunette. "Now let's look at that next file, shall we?"

"Bryson Millan." Blaineley read, before her eyes started to widen. "This guy would definitely be part of that one boring, fairytale-esque couple with that Andrea girl before him."

Juliana took a peek at the file, skimmed through the information, the picture, and the name. "...Yup, I agree."

Bryson had shaggy brown hair that the bangs almost reached the top of his green eyes, pale skin, and an expression that looks as if he just wanted to shudder and hide. Out of everyone so far, this Canadian boy was one of the only people who wasn't smiling in their picture, other than Yuju.

"We had two boring people in a row now, let's not hope for a third one." Blaineley grabbed the file Juliana was holding and opened it in an instant.

The next one was a pretty happy and peppy girl named Sanya Briar.

In all of the cast so far, Sanya was shown to have the happiest smile. Her grin was from ear to ear, showing off her blue braces. Her chocolate brown hair was curly and it reached her mid-back. Her blue eyes also complimented her tanned skin and her Spanish visuals.

Blaineley grimaced a bit. "Oh come on, she's even more boring!"

"She's not boring, Miss Blaineley. She's more annoying." Juliana retorted. "At least that's what I think."

"Well, thank you. Next!"

Juliana scrambled the remaining three male files and grabbed one from the pile. "This one is—"

Blaineley snatched it from her and opened it. "I'm reading this one, thank you very much. Hm… Hanson Laurent… ehhh…"

Hanson had really light blonde hair that was up to his neck, though he managed to trim and gel it well. His skin was a bit tanned and his eyes were bluish-green.

Juliana stared at the file for a bit. "I'm not sure what to comment about here. The producers picked him… but he seems too… normal."

"Well who knows," Blaineley placed the file back. "Maybe he could make some drama happen. We never know."

Grabbing the next file, Juliana took a quick sip of some coffee that she had on her desk before Blaineley came in. "Wow, this is already cold… Well, here's the next one: Miss Jaydee Juniper."

Jaydee's features highly screamed the phrase 'bad girl.' The Canadian girl had her makeup in a dark shade, her ponytailed black hair had light streaks of red, and her set of black eyes looked as if she was going to do something evil. It doesn't help that she was smirking either.

"Now this is what I call an exciting contestant!" Blaineley couldn't help but chuckle. "Can't wait for her!"

Once Juliana sipped her coffee, she looked at the file again. "Wow, sometimes the producers know how to pick contestants. And sometimes they just pick whoever."

"I'll be waiting for this girl." The red hostess rubbed her hands vigorously. "I hope she doesn't disappoint. Let's see this next one."

"Urson Granger." Juliana read the label, before giving off a surprised look. "Wow, this guy's got a pretty inspiring background to him."

Urson was a rather muscular young man with dark skin and dark brown hair in a buzzcut. He also has brown eyes that don't seem too happy but at the same time, they don't look sad either. His overall appearance though looks as if he is a person to be respected.

"This guy's family owns the Granger Groceries downtown." Juliana continued.

"Then why join Total Drama if they have the money?" Blaineley asked, taking a seat on the black leather office couch. "Some people are just weird."

"Well he doesn't seem weird." the 23-year-old shrugged. "And neither is this next one."

The next girl had her mid-length, dark brown hair in a half up style with a green vintage bow to hold it up with. Out of every girl in the cast, she had her makeup done expertly, with the mocha colored makeup accentuating her lightly tanned skin, almond brown eyes, and facial features perfectly.

"Mary Grace Salac." Juliana smiled as she read the information. "Sounds like my kind of girl."

Blaineley gave her the side-eye.

"...Not like what you're thinking of."

"...Yeah. Yes." Blaineley cleared her throat as she read the file herself. "Does she really prefer being called Mary Grace?"

The other host just shrugged as an answer.

"How many do we have left? This is actually getting quite boring."

"Two more." Juliana answered, finishing her coffee. "This next one's Xian Augustine. The last person I picked."

The aforementioned was Chinese-American and looked serious because of the way his dark eyes were shaped but with a small smile on his face. He had yellowish tan skin and black hair that was gently swept to the side.

"This guy's a fencer." Juliana stated. "...And he's the only one in the cast without any musical experience of any sort."

The co host gave her somewhat of an accusing but confused look. "Isn't that a bit unfair that everyone else has some experience and he doesn't? Like, he can't sing or dance or play an instrument or even act?"

"Hey, I was expecting a lot of them not knowing how to do any of those." the brunette retorted. "Besides, maybe he did pick up a thing or two in the past without mentioning it in his application. I mean, this last one says that she knows how to 'act but not that much'." She added, grabbing the last file that read Stephanie Madison.

Stephanie looked a bit on the skinnier side, judging by the picture. Her hair was long and wavy, being light chocolate brown at the top and blonde towards the bottom. Out of all the girls in the cast, she may probably be considered the prettiest to guys due to her sweet and innocent look (not as doll-like as Andrea, though).

"Well, this isn't what I considered to be 'save the best for last.'" Blaineley could only shrug. "I'm guessing that's all? Reading all these is tiresome."

"Sure is." Juliana stood up from her seat and began to tidy up all the forms. "Well, now you know what they all look like at least."

"I probably can't get them all memorized in my head, but we'll see, heh." She laughed.

Once the files and forms and photos were kept safely in the drawers, the two began to head for the door.

"Come on, I'll treat you to something to eat before we call it a day."
