It was a cold crisp November evening; Aimee was gazing out of the bay window of their living room at the golden and brown leaves falling from the trees. Her boyfriend Trevor was due home and she hoped he was happy. Trevor could have mood swings and he was very controlling of Aimee. He tracked her phone and would phone her all the time. He had been trying to convince her to stop working.
Suddenly the silence was interrupted by her phone ringing. She thought it would be Trevor, but she seen it was her Mum. She longed to talk to her Mum, but she knew that Trevor didn't like her talking to her family.
"Hi Mum" Aimee said
"I've been trying to get you for a while, I'm through in Leeds so though I would treat you to dinner"
"Sorry, I'm busy" Aimee said, she knew there was no way that Trevor would want her going out.
"Uh what a shame, it's been ages since we caught up" Rachel said, she was worried about Aimee she had been so distant lately
"Sorry Mum" Aimee said, she really wanted nothing more than to go see her Mum, and to sit with her and the rest of her family.
"Well, what about the weekend, maybe you could come home for a visit, we missed you at Christmas?" Rachel asked as Trevor came in
"Who are you taking too" he demanded as he grabbed the phone out of her hand
"It's just my Mum"
"Say goodbye" he said as he ended the call.
Rachel was extremely worried; she hadn't seen Aimee in a while and every time she called, she either didn't get through or Aimee couldn't wait to get her off the phone. She came out of the hotel and walked back to her car to drive home. She got into the car and called Eddie; he had been managing the school for the day in her absence.
"Hi, its only me, what's happening"
"I'm making dinner, macaroni for Isabella and I, Michael is going to Jades for dinner" Jade was Michaels girlfriend.
"Can you make enough for me please"
"I take it Dinner with Aimee didn't happen"
"No, Trevor came in, grabbed the phone from her I think and hung up" I don't like this Eddie
"I'm going to just drive up, chap the door and bring her home" Eddie said
"You can't, she is an adult, I don't like her spending time with him either, but she needs to be ready to leave him herself"
"OK, Ill see you when you get home"
It was Saturday morning, a few weeks had passed, both Rachel and Eddie had tried to get in touch with Aimee, but it always went to voicemail. Rachel was sitting at her dressing table putting on her mascara when Isabella came in, she was now 10 and a half, almost 11 years old.
"Mum, I miss Aimee, can I call her"
"She isn't picking up sweetheart"
"But I want to see her, does she not love us anymore"
"Of course, she loves us, but she is an adult so needs her own space"
"I know, I just miss her"
"Why don't you go get dressed and then we can get breakfast" Rachel asked her youngest daughter who jumped off the bed and left to get ready as Eddie came into the room.
"I just spoke to Phil, we are going to take a drive down to Oakwood, see if we can get Aimee to come to her senses, or at least see if we can see her"
"Eddie, I don't think this is a good idea, if she isn't ready to come, she won't"
"It will be all right, just let us try this and see if we can see her"
Phil and Eddie got into Eddies car and drove half an hour to Oakfield, a suburb of Leeds where Aimee and Trevor lived. They parked up along the road and could see Trevor and Aimee's cars both in the driveway. They sat for what felt like forever, but in reality, was about an hour, until they saw Trevor leave with what looked like a gym bag. This was there chance. Once they were sure Trevor was away, they moved the car down the street, and walked up to the door.
"Dad what are you doing here" Aimee said through the letter box
"Open the door and let us see you" Eddie said
"No, I can't, there are cameras" she whispered, "You need to leave" she repeatedly loudly
"We aren't leaving until we see you" Philip said
"Please, just go, I don't want to see you anymore" she lied loudly again so the camera's heard her.
"Aimee please sweetheart, Isabella really misses you" Eddie said
"I miss her too, but Dad, I need you to leave" Aimee said as she spotted Trevor's car "you need to go quickly"
Eddie saw the car and walked down the path; he wasn't going to let this man treat his daughter as badly as he was
"She said Go" Trevor shouted
"I will not leave without at least seeing her" Eddie stated, standing tall. Trevor wasn't a tall man, and both Philip and Eddie towered over him.
"Dad just go." Aimee shouted through the letter box
"We should go" Philip stated as they walked back to the car.
Eddie slammed his fist on the steering wheel of the car. "I don't like leaving her"
"Neither do I, but your mum is right, we have no choice she is an adult, and she has made her choice, we need to respect that.
This is a bit different from what I have written before
