Chapter 1!

I wanted to write something with a younger, early in her career, Rumi. I also went ahead and did some different stuff with Izumi per usual, personality and quirk wise, so hoping that goes over well too.

Disclaimer: I don't own BNHA

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

Waning Moon

*Rumi POV*

Rumi grumbled as she glared at the new rankings.

While she had only been a full hero for two years, the rabbit woman had managed to break into the top 20, number 20 exactly, but the issue was the person who was ranked number 19.

"Oh my," that irritatingly confident voice called out to Rumi, "unfortunately for me, it seems I've missed your reaction."

"There's still 18 people ahead of you," the rabbit woman growled, glaring from the corner of her eye as the other hero neared her.

"And there's 19, including me, ahead of you," the newly arrived greenette pointed out once more and the white haired woman clicked her tongue.

Midoriya had gone to the same school, graduated the same year, and also went into heroics like Rumi but now was one step ahead of her. While the two hadn't been classmates, they had run into each other enough and were considered rivals by the other students. The main reason was that the two of them didn't get along well due to their personalities. Rumi found the greenette to be a too stuck up and Midoriya made it clear that she found the rabbit woman to be almost unbearably brash.

The next biggest reason was that, within the school, the two often competed for the title of the fastest. While Rumi had her rabbit quirk, Midoriya's quirk gave her the wings and some of the powers of a tengu. The greenette had four black wings, the top two slightly smaller than the bottom ones, that she could retract into her body as well as the ability to summon a fan that let her control wind and lightning. Regardless, the two were always at odds when they met.

Even if they were both off duty, the greenette still had her black wings proudly on display as always and Rumi scoffed at the way Midoriya showed them off, "Wonder what those idiots were looking at when they decided to rank you above me," she shot back but the tengu woman gave a short, subdued, laugh.

"I'm simply faster and more efficient than you," the winged greenette stated, not lacking even a single bit of confidence.

"You call flapping your useless wings and waving your silly fan more efficient?" Rumi prodded back, knowing exactly how easy it was to begin riling her up.

"You sound jealous since you can only skip about like a child in a candy store," the green haired tengu retorted, one hand coming up to her mouth as she eyed Rumi up and down like she was assessing something of little value.

"As if I would be jealous of those molting wings of yours," the rabbit woman shrugged offhandedly, "stow them away already," she demanded, watching how the black feathers bristled at the insult.

"They are not molting," Midoriya chided immediately, "and there's no reason to insult myself by hiding them," she stated since she took so much pride in them.

"All they do is take up space," the white haired woman prodded some more and Midoriya narrowed her eyes.

"I'll have you know I resent that," the greenette huffed but her gaze soon turned predatory, "I hope you remember what you said before though," the tengu woman added and now it was Rumi's turn to reel.

The rabbit woman knew exactly what she was talking about and there was no denying that her words had now put her in a tough spot. Not only had Rumi said that she would break into the top 20 before Midoriya, but the white haired woman had also gone on to say that if that didn't happen then she would get on her knees and admit that the tengu woman was better than her. Apparently she had been far too cocky and the fact that the green haired woman was ranked directly in front of her somehow made it worse since making it into the top 20 should have been something for Rumi to celebrate.

"I never promised you anything," the white haired woman reminded while the winged woman nodded at her words.

"No, you didn't," Midoriya agreed readily, "I simply thought that you never stated anything you didn't mean or would regret," the greenette stated with poorly veiled provocation but Rumi wasn't going to back down.

"I don't," the rabbit woman assured and the green haired tengu brought the back of her hand up to her lips and smiled.

"Then I look forward to seeing you on your knees," Midoriya told her without hesitation, a small show of satisfaction on her lips at the thought, "be it a week from now or a month, I'll gladly receive it."

Before the tengu woman could continue on, Rumi quickly took her lips, pressing close to Midoriya, and after she broke the short but deep kiss she lightly glared at the stunned greenette.

"You beat me this time, so let it go already," the rabbit woman demanded while Midoriya tried to regain her ability to speak.

"You...you vulgar woman," the greenette mumbled in disbelief, a scarlet color running across her face, "what if someone saw that?"

"Well put those overgrown wings of yours to use then," Rumi told her, her hands already on Midoriya's hips while the greenette placed hers on the rabbit woman's shoulders.

"They are-" the tengu tried, but Rumi cut her off with a quick peck on the lips.

"Right, they're pretty, they're pretty," she complimented as the four black wings curled around them like shields to defend from wandering eyes.

"Remember it well then," Midoriya commanded her, her face still flush but her expression back under control, "and perhaps I'll allow you the opportunity to properly appreciate them," the greenette enticed.

"So my place or yours?" Rumi asked bluntly and Midoriya scowled at her, poking the rabbit woman's cheek with a finger.

"You aren't supposed to comment you beast," the green haired tengu told her but she just shrugged it off.

"So yours."

"Obviously."

"Tonight then," Rumi confirmed happily and Midoriya nodded, pleased with the outcome as well.

"You'll look perfect on your knees," she noted, her gaze dangerous, and the white haired woman closed her eyes and rested their foreheads together.

"Fuck," Rumi whispered, having hoped to have snuck that past her.

At least Midoriya gave her a consolation kiss.

Notes: Notes and Stuff

So I had it that they're the same age, 20 in this particular part, and went to the same school but weren't classmates. Also, they're not currently 'officially' dating.

Along with her quirk giving her powers like a tengu, Izumi falls more into that personality line too. Prideful, confident, and prim, which I thought would be fun for a pairing with Rumi who's brash and would butt heads with her. Guess I just have a thing for these particular kinds of interactions.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
