After hatching out of her egg, Delta called for help. She wasn't looking for a trainer and the two legged fleshy wanted to make her do stuff. It wasn't fair that her sibling, Blue, got all the affection. She could smell that he was faking his body language.
So when she tried to bite him, she could smell he was faking it. His smell and intentions never line up with his body language.
He sat lax but she could smell he was tense. He fakes weakness often and rewards Blue for coddling him. That night delta cried out again for help, for someone to save her from the two legger who kept trying to take her instincts away.
As the days went by she began to ponder, 'Maybe blue couldn't smell that well?' She didn't know, but if that was the case then she shouldn't be left in charge. Blue is the biggest and oldest but Delta has the best senses and instincts.
Instincts that the fleshy two legger was trying to 'train out' which to delta ment they got a treat if they ignored all common sense and instinct.
Delta could tell that Echo could also smell the faking but not as well, her sense went as good as Deltas.
Charlie seemed to not smell the faking but often ignored her and instead followed Blues command easily. Echo didn't seem to want to listen to blue either, but when she tried to fight back she lost, earning a scar on her face and an offset jaw.
Echo didn't try to fight Blue after that and instead bonded with Charlie. She was relatively friendly towards Delta but she could tell that Echo was avoiding her. Especially after the white coats began making fun of her and calling her 'Elvis.'
She wasn't sure what that meant but soon she realized she was very alone. She cried out one final time for someone to love her before drifting off to sleep.
ooOoo
Delta woke up somewhere new. She wasn't in the white room, or the fake room with tall walls, she was laying on something dark and soft. There was something bright on top of her, it smelt like a fleshy two leg but wasn't as contradicting as Owen's scent, she didn't know if that was his name but that's what the white coats called him.
As she smelt around she located where the fleshy two legs that smelt nice were. She carefully got off the soft thing and landed on a soft light floor.
After landing she followed the scent to a bright room with lots of smells. She could smell meat but it wasn't as wet and smelly as the one she was used to. She also smelt something fresh and juicy, she wasn't sure what it was but she desperately wanted a bite.
She looked at the two legged who was standing by a warm dark box and noticed he was looking at her. He made that face Owen does to Blue and offered her a piece of the boy wet meat. Delta walked over and carefully took it from him, it didn't smell bad so she ate it.
The two legger offered her another piece but she didn't accept, instead she went towards the talk thing where the fresh juice smell was and waited for him to get it. He made a funny face and then put the meat back. He walked over and grabbed the fresh thing, offering it to her. It was a little brighter than she expected and was the color of the wet stuff, red.
She eagerly accepted it and ate it, it was so juicy and sweet she loved it. She hissed out a thank you to which he responded, "no problem." She stared at him in shock.
He made the nice face again and grabbed another juicy thing. "You could have just said you wanted a strawberry. You're very clever, do you have a name?" He asked.
Delta accepted the 'strawberry' "River mouth, you speak?" She asked with awe, "no fleshy two legs speak." She informed him. He made a loud noise and then a nice face, "yes I can speak, do you live with a human?" He asked, "they're the fleshy two legs." He clarified at her confused head tilt.
Delta chirped, "Yes! I live with Noble-Born and three Hatchlings."
"Are they your nest mates?" The two legger asked.
Delta thought for a minute, "no, they all are from different nests , but Blue and Charlie look like nest mates. They both are light dark and not good at smelling."
The human moved his head up and down, "you must like in a research facility or something. Do you see white coats a lot?"
Delta chirped, "yes, they put us in boxes and make us fake quick sleep."
The human's scent changed to a new one, it was darker and less open. "That's not very nice of them." The scent was dulled suddenly as if it was pushed aside for a more open and friendly one. The human sat down and offered her more strawberries. "How old are you?" He asked.
Delta gobbled up a strawberry, "I hatched 23 sleeps ago."
"So a little over three weeks." Delta didn't know what that meant so she just ate another strawberry.
"Do you have a name?" She asked.
The human moved his head up and down again, "I am home-ruler," then he switched back to the human tongue, "or Harry in English"
Delta copied Harry's way of affirmation and moved her head up and down. "Did I do it right?" She asked. She must have done it right because he made a nice face and then made the loud sound but softer. "Very smart, it's called nodding. People, humans, do it to show we understand or to signify yes."
Delta nodded again, "so yes?" Harry made the nice face and nodded, which made delta very happy. "What is a nice face called?" She asked. Harry looked confused so Delta tried to copy his nice face. "Oh!" He exclaimed. "It's called a smile, people smile to signify happiness or feelings of joy."
Delta nodded, "I like smile"
Harry made the quiet loud sound. "And what is that sound called?" She asked.
This time Harry knew what she ment, "it's called a laugh, people laugh to express happiness and joy, laughing is very common when someone says something funny." He explained.
She nodded and then tried to smile, it made Harry laugh again. She decided she likes Harry's laugh.
Harry was in his cabin when he felt something enter his wards. Which was weird because he could feel a pulling to go to it. When he arrived at the location there was a small reptilian creature lying curled up.
He could see it was about to rain and decided to bring it in, it had a dragon-like teal hide with a tan underbelly and lower jaw. He could tell that it was just a baby and couldn't sense anyone nearby. Was the baby abandoned because of its lack of wings? Was the baby even a dragon or something else entirely.
He wasn't sure what to do but decided it was best to take it one step at a time, so he wrapped the baby in his arms and brought it inside. After laying her, him? On the couch he put the yellow blanket on the baby, who was shivering.
The baby curbed up under the blanket and relaxed. Harry decided it was best to begin making food for the baby. He wasn't sure if it was a fragon of some kind so he decided to bring out both fruits and meat. He was in the middle of cutting the chicken when he heard the baby walk into the kitchen.
It seemed weary and unsure, perhaps it had never been inside? He wasn't sure but as soon as the baby spotted him he decided to offer it a peice of the chicken. He fed her one and tried to offer another but the baby didn't want any more instead the hatchling walked over to the counter that held the fruits and stood infront of the strawberry's. He knew the hatchling was too small to see the fruit but when offered a strawberry he got a tail wag in response.
After devouring a strawberry she hissed out a Thank you, to which he responded with , "no problem." She froze and stared at him with what had to be surprise and then began waging her tail happily.
It made Harry smile and he offered her another strawberry, "You could have just said you wanted a strawberry. You're very clever, do you have a name?" Harry asked.
The baby ate the strawberry before responding, "River mouth, you speak?" She asked with awe, "no fleshy two legs speak." Went on to inform him.
Harry laughed at her response before replying, "yes I can speak, do you live with a human?" He asked, she tilted her head in confusion. "They're the fleshy two legs." He clarified.
Delta chirped in understanding, "Yes! I live with Noble-Born and three Hatchlings."
"Are they your nest mates?" Harry asked, trying to think of a way to return her home.
Delta paused, "no, they all are from different nests , but Blue and Charlie look like nest mates. They both are light dark and not good at smelling."
Harry nodded and then tried to think of where she could live that would put different variants of a species together with one main handler. Owen must be in charge of the nestlings, "you must like in a research facility or something. Do you see white coats a lot?" He asked, trying to see if his guess was correct.
Delta chirped, "yes, they put us in boxes and make us fake quick sleep."
Harrys mood darkened at the thought, 'so they probably put them to sleep in order to examine the hatchlings. He noticed that Delta was responding to his scent change so he tried to force the emotion down and keep the conversation lighter.. "That's not very nice of them." Then a thought hit him, how old was the baby. "How old are you?" He asked, offering anothe strawberry.
Delta gobbled up the strawberry, "I hatched 23 sleeps ago."
"So a little over three weeks." Harry said, mentally doing the math as he fed her another berry.
"Do you have a name?" Delta asked, curiousity in her voice.
Harry nodded, "I am home-ruler," then he switched back to the English so she knew what it sounded like, "or Harry in English"
Delta stiffly noded. "Did I do it right?" She asked.
Harry nodded with a laugh, he could guess what she had copied what had done, and figured out what it ment. "Very smart, it's called nodding. People, humans, do it to show we understand or to signify yes."
Delta nodded again, "so yes?" Harry smiled at her gear expression with a small laugh. Delta was very cute when exited. "What is nice face called?" She asked. Harry must have made a confused expression because Delta tried to copy what he had done. She looked like she was trying to smile. "Oh!" He exclaimed. "It's called a smile, people smile to signify happiness or feelings of joy."
Delta nodded, "I like smile"
Harry laughed at the seriousness in her young voice.. "And what is that sound called?" She asked.
This time Harry knew what she meant, "it's called a laugh, people laugh to express happiness and joy, laughing is very common when someone says something funny." He explained.
She nodded and then tried to smile, it made Harry laugh again. She was just too adorable.
