On Today's Episode: With the rest of the spies incapacitated, it falls to Nick, Rei and Siren to catch up with and take on Helga and Fox's trump card, and it's once again styled after a certain kind of monster. Meanwhile, back on the base, the rest of the spies attempt to figure out how to free themselves from Helga's trap. Can both sides of this conflict come together to defeat Helga and Fox and their trump card, or will this be the beginning of a mutant reign?

Act 3: There's Always Room For a Kaiju

9:34 P.M. – Over the Ocean

When Nick reached the water's surface, with Rei and Siren close behind in one of Rei's bubbles, Nick could now just barely see a large mechanical creature skimming over the waters towards Beverly Hills.

"Do I even want to know what that is?" Rei quipped.

"It looks kinda strange for a machine," Siren noted.

"Well, whatever it is, it's going down like all the rest!" Nick shouted as he flew off towards the machine in question, Rei and Siren following closely behind.

When they got close enough to the machine, they were able to get a good look at it. The machine in question appeared to resemble a large pterosaur that walked upright on two legs with burgundy skin with a spiky chest and three horns on the back of its head, and sprouting from its back were large mechanical moth wings.

"You're late to the party, boy," Helga taunted.

"Can I ask something while we're here?" Nick stated. "What, exactly, is you and our rogues' gallery's whacked-out fascination with sending freakin' kaiju after us?!"

Indeed, the machine resembled a cross between the kaiju Rodan with the wings of Mothra.

"Hey, a classic never goes out of style, does it?" Fox quipped.

"While you've got a point there, I'm sorry to say that my friends and I have to destroy your little pet project," Nick proclaimed, his psychic aura flaring to life around him.

"Oh, just try and stop us!" Helga cackled as the Mecha Rodan turned around to face down Nick, opening its mouth to fire a large blast of compressed air towards him, only for Rei to surround Nick with a shield of water that dispelled the blast without harming him.

"We'd be glad to," Rei proclaimed as she prepared herself. Siren was swimming around the Mecha Rodan, already searching for a weak point on the machine.

"You find it yet?" Nick asked Siren.

"I think so," Siren responded after swimming around to avoid another claw swipe from Mecha Rodan. "It looks like there's a part on the thing's back that's not as armored, just between the wings."

"Can you compensate while I give Siren a hand?" Rei asked Nick.

"No doubt I can," Nick remarked. "We better find a way to get the rest of the spies out quickly, too."

"That's the easy part," Rei stated. "I remember overhearing the destruction of that kaiju is all we should do."

"Well, that'll help," Nick stated.

The Mecha Rodan kept swatting down at the water trying to eliminate Siren.

"I'd hate to find out what'll happen to a shark if it tried to bite the kaiju hand," Nick commented.

"Uh, Nick, speaking of sharks..." Rei stated and pointed at 3 o'clock.

"Oh, crapbaskets!" Nick exclaimed, knowing he might've just become fish food.

"I can send them away," Rei remarked.

She fired some of her shots in the ways of the sharks to make them sense something else.

"Unfortunately, it appears the weak point is somewhere in the water," Nick stated to himself, remembering what Siren had mentioned.

Fortunately, the shots from Rei were enough to get the sharks to avoid Nick and swim away.

"No doubt I have to do this," Nick stated as he equipped the UPWATI once more.

Rei came over to where the two of them were.

"You should deal with your two villains," Rei insisted to Nick.

"Are you sure?" Nick wondered.

"Absolutely," Rei stated. "Siren and I know exactly what to do."

Nick conceded and went up to the surface.

"Consider this you meeting your match," Nick remarked as he took to the sky.

"Damn!" Helga swore at seeing Nick ascend to their jet. "We better am-scray!"

It was no use, as Nick used a Metal Masher Boxing Glove to punch a hole in the side of their jet. After that, Nick managed to get through.

"Be ready for that psychic menace!" Dr. Fox told the army through a loudspeaker.

"Now, who's ready for a beatdown?!" Nick confidently wondered.

The mook army was ready for him as requested.

"You've walked into our trap, rookie," Helga sneered as Nick heard that loud and clear.

"Like I'd be scared of a bunch of mooks," Nick taunted. "And watch who you're callin' a rookie, you nutballs."

A bunch of mooks charged towards Nick, all intent on taking a bite out of him, but Nick simply surrounded himself with a psychic bubble, then snapped his fingers to pop it, the outward recoil blast sending all of the mooks flying backwards.

"And why, exactly, are you wasting your time dealing with us?" Fox taunted, hoping to throw Nick off his game.

"Because I know those two can easily trash your stupid robot," Nick countered. "After all, you two are the ones who gave Rei her powers, and how fitting that is that she's gonna be the one to trash your trump card."

Helga attempted to steer their battered escape jet away, but Nick simply blasted it with a Final Shine Attack, forcing both villains to eject as the damaged jet crashed into the water and exploded.

"And look at that, you're officially buttered toast," Nick quipped, raising his right hand to capture both Helga and Fox in a psychic bubble. "Maybe think these things through a little better next time, so you don't get punked by your own plan?"

Not waiting for a retort, Nick flicked his hand upwards to send the bubbled villains off to containment, just in time for the Mecha Rodan to resurface, roaring loudly, with both Rei and Siren circling it.

The Mecha Rodan attempted to lunge forward and attack with its horns, but Siren whipped her lobster tail out with just enough force to send it backwards instead, giving Rei a prime opportunity to fire a series of exploding bubbles into its back.

As Siren continued to swim around it, the Mecha Rodan went underwater briefly before jumping back up to grab Siren by the legs and drag her back underwater.

"Oh, you just made a big mistake, dino boy," Siren proclaimed. "This is my element, and you're just a big ol' robot."

"I couldn't have said it better myself, Siren," Rei quipped as she dove underwater as well, firing an ice beam from her hands to blast the Mecha Rodan's hands and free Siren from its grip.

The Mecha Rodan roared and attempted to fire a blast of compressed air from its mouth, but Rei responded by surrounding both herself and Siren with a large whirlpool that easily dispelled the blast.

Not one to be deterred, the Mecha Rodan flapped its Mothra wings and attempted to blow both of its attackers backwards, but Rei and Siren split off in different directions to avoid the gust before going back on the offensive.

Siren swam around and tail whipped the point on Mecha Rodan's back she'd mentioned earlier, right between its wings, and this stunned the machine long enough for Rei to launch a pair of crescent water blades to tear off its arms.

Suddenly, the Mecha Rodan charged forward with impressive speeds, attempting to headbutt Siren, but Rei thrust her hand forward, causing a long tendril of water to shoot out and wrap around the Mecha Rodan's waist, allowing her to yank it back towards her.

"No touchie," Rei quipped before firing an exploding bubble straight into the Mecha Rodan's face, sending it reeling. As this was happening, Siren once again tail-whipped its weak point, making sure to keep up the pressure.

At this point, Rei had decided that enough was enough, motioning for Siren to get out of the way, which she gladly did.

Once Siren was at a safe distance, Rei spread her hands out, and this caused a vortex of water to surround the Mecha Rodan, as well as a cluster of exploding bubbles. Rei fired ice beams from both of her hands to freeze the bubbles into spheres of solid ice, then clapped her hands together.

At this, the frozen bubbles all converged on the Mecha Rodan just as the vortex constricted it as well, both attacks being enough to completely tear the Mecha Rodan apart, its remains sinking quickly to the bottom of the ocean.

"And that's what you get," Rei taunted, swimming over to high-five Siren before they both returned to the surface where Nick was waiting. "Sorry we kinda left you out of that."

"Hey, it's no biggie," Nick responded. "I was just having fun watching you two annihilate that thing."

"AHOY DOWN THERE!" Sortiliena called out as the rest of the spies came flying down to greet them, this confirming Rei's suspicions that something in the Mecha Rodan was responsible for keeping the spies trapped, and the barrier would fall when it was destroyed.

"It's really good to see you're all doing all right," Nick quipped.

"We've been worse, trust me," Mat chuckled. "What'd we miss?"

"Welp, Rei and Siren here took down a mechanical Rodan who had the wings of Mothra, for one," Nick stated.

"Aw, man, and we missed a kaiju battle?!" May exclaimed. "Remind me to slap those two villains in the face next time we have to deal with them."

"Duly noted," Nick replied as the spies all headed back towards Beverly Hills so they could check in with Jerry.

10:54 P.M. – W.O.O.H.P. Headquarters
Jerry's Office

"Excellent work as always, everyone," Jerry proclaimed once the spies had all reconvened in his office. "We're sending a team to corral the floating dome as we speak."

"Seriously, how did nobody notice something like that?" Nozomi chuckled. "Do sky watchers just not do their jobs anymore?"

"Probably another question that'll never be answered, sadly," Britney quipped.

"And on that note, we should probably get back to the island," Siren stated. "I'm sure Mr. Bear's probably worried sick about how long I've been gone."

"Before we go, I just wanted to apologize for putting all of you through so much trouble at first," Rei proclaimed. "If I'd have known they were lying to me from the start..."

"Hey, don't worry your stylish hoodie off, a lot of our rogues' gallery just tend to do that," Clover admitted. "They usually brainwash them first, though, so at the very least that's new."

"I'll send you guys back home so you can get some rest after all that," RiCO stated, waving her hand to send all of the spies back to their beach house, with the obvious exception of Sortiliena. "So, Rei, I assume you and Siren are heading back to the island?"

"Pretty much," Siren answered.

"You definitely have a lot of friends to introduce me to," Rei giggled as she and Siren headed out.

10:53 A.M. – The Spies' Beach House
The Following Saturday

After a night's sleep, the spies had some breakfast and they went to do their activities.

Melissa, Bridget, Dawn, and Clover went for the pool while the rest of the spies joined Mat for the next round of the 2009 Motocross season. This time, it was round 7 from Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, MN. The 250cc broadcast on TV was just about finishing up. Jason Weigandt and David Bailey got the call, and GEICO Powersports Honda's Trey Canard joined in the booth since he was out with injury.

"I think we got a series now," Mat told the others after Suzuki's Ryan Dungey swept the motos and pulled within 3 points of series leader Christophe Pourcel on the #377 Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, who went 2-2 on the day.

"No doubt, man," Nick replied. "Didn't you go with Dungey winning the 250 title, too?"

"Yeah, and Dungey looks like he can seize this title after that 1-1 sweep," Mat replied.

"I won't doubt that," Haruka remarked.

The ending highlights replayed a scene from moto 1 where GEICO Powersports Honda teammates Brett Metcalfe and Justin Barcia whipped their motorcycles in opposite directions and touched back tires in mid-flight, and none of them crashed.

"Geez, that's worth looking at multiple times," Mat chuckled.

When the 450cc class began, the moto 1 highlights showed a race-long battle between Suzuki's Chad Reed #22 and Joe Gibbs Yamaha's Josh Grant #33.

After the end of lap 1, Grant got around Reed and that's how it stayed, but Reed was able to tail Grant until the very end, much to Mat's delight. Finishing 3rd was Reed's Suzuki teammate Michael Byrne.

"Well, this should be good," Nick stated.

When moto 2 got under way, it appeared to be a clean start with Honda's Ivan Tedesco #9 in the lead until...

Jason: Oh, we got a bunch of riders down, and one of them is JOSH GRANT! THE 33 IS DOWN IN A PILE! Oh no, that's a disaster! They got through the first turn and then AFTER THAT, RIDERS DOWN, and a bunch of Yamaha people trying to help Grant bump-start that bike! Disaster for Grant... THE BIKE IS STILL NOT RUNNING! Meanwhile, Reed and the rest of the championship contenders are getting away!

David: I think this is what Reed's counting on – ride as best you can...

Grant was still trying to kickstart his YZ450F even after about ten attempts.

"I think it's busted, buddy," Nozomi quipped.

"Yeah, if it didn't work the first ten times, I highly doubt it's gonna work the next twenty," May sighed.

"Well, that's a foregone conclusion, it looks like," Mat stated.

"I'm seconding that," Blaine remarked.

During a pit report from Erin Bates, Mat reacted at Valli Yamaha privateer Jimmy Albertson #47, who crashed in the sand whoops and lost his front fender.

Jason: I'll tell you who's NOT happy though – the 47 of Albertson who just went down at the end of the sand whoops and knocked his front fender off. So, Albertson, who was in 4th is now... about 15th or so. He's got Jeff Alessi and Tyler Bowers, the MotoConcepts Honda riders, battling with him right now.

David: It's gonna be... yeah, Jason, it's gonna be weird to ride without a front fender. That happened to me before, and it just feels like every time the suspension compresses, that front wheel's gonna hit you right in the face!

"That's weird to ride without a fender indeed," May commented.

"I've never seen that very often myself," Mat stated.

A replay showed that Albertson's right hand got knocked off the handlebar, which led to his crash.

"Is that a significant loss, that front fender?" Alex wondered.

"Well, to prevent the filter from all that dirt getting in, yeah, it's a significant loss," Mat replied.

On lap 3, Reed executed his move on Tedesco.

Jason: Tedesco's not going to make it easy... holds it wide open to the outside! Tedesco holds Reed off... oh, and Tedesco makes a mistake, and Reed says, "Thank you very much."

David: Nice move by Chad...

What happened was Tedesco bobbled shortly after the landing, and Reed whizzed around the outside and into 1st place. Mat sighed and began to grin that this was likely win #2 for Chad Reed.

Sam could see how pleased Mat was and gave him a pat on the back. She still stood by him even after how the Supercross series ended in tragedy for Chad Reed because of one lousy 7th at Seattle.

"You're more fun in bed when you're this happy," Sam whispered in Mat's ear.

She knew she had a keeper in Mat for a fiancée, and she'd be crazy to let someone like him go.

"Thanks, hon," Mat whispered back.

With just under half the moto to go, Yamaha's Grant had moved up to 19th place.

"19th... what a comeback for Grant," Haruka stated.

"Yeah, what a comeback," Mat replied. "But it's certainly going to ruin Grant's day for sure."

A while later, there was another pit report from Erin Bates that took Mat by surprise.

Erin: Well, guys, there was that one-week break after Red Bud before here, and Michael Byrne was actually HIS OWN MECHANIC! What he did is he took his entire bike apart and rebuilt a brand-new frame FROM SCRATCH! He said it took him over six hours to do, and it's something he hasn't done in over five years; it was like putting together a puzzle! On another note though, the very first moto, he says that one did not come easy at all. Not only did he fall, his exhaust pipe fell off! He took a rock to the face! He said it was extremely challenging and he was hoping the second moto would be much easier for him.

Jason: You know, that's how cruel Motocross can be. All that stuff goes wrong, and you get 3rd... and then all that stuff goes right in this moto, and here is Byrne in 5th, and he needs some positions here...

"How the heck does that happen?" Nick wondered.

"No kidding," Bridget noted. "You do worse and get a higher place, but do well and you're stuck lower? What even is that logic?"

"It's actually not unheard of, believe it or not," Mat stated. "That's mainly for privateers, but a factory rider like Michael Byrne... super rare."

Chad Reed still led the way in moto 2, and he went unchallenged until race's end. Reed's 2-1 was certainly more than enough to take his second win of the 2009 Motocross season. Ivan Tedesco would finish 2nd, and Honda teammate Davi Millsaps would finish 3rd. Michael Byrne had gotten around Honda's Andrew Short #29 for 4th, which was enough for Byrne to get 3rd overall.

However, there was still racing going on as Josh Grant was still fighting for every position he could. On the final lap, he had worked up to 10th, but he was not able to get Nick Wey #27 for 9th place.

"I'd hate to be Grant right now," Mat sighed, completely sympathetic.

"I agree," Nick stated.

"So, join the others outside?" Nozomi wondered.

"You bet," Blaine stated.

He immediately went to the pool.

Melissa seemed to be waiting for Mat, and when he did come out, she asked if he was up for a cannonball head-to-head contest.

"Sounds good to me," Mat laughed.

Nick suddenly heard rapid footsteps coming from somewhere.

"Oh, no you don't," Nick quipped. "I'm ready this time."

Just as May charged into the pool area, before she could shout what she always did, Nick placed himself in front of May, hoping to catch her.

But she was running way too fast to notice Nick and collided head-on with him, sending the both of them flying straight into the pool.

Melissa and Dawn both stared at the hallway, wondering what had just happened, before bursting out laughing. Quickly, the other spies started laughing as well.

When Nick and May resurfaced, they both glanced at each other.

"...I guess that's karma, huh?" May giggled.

"I'd say so," Nick responded.

All of a sudden, Alex cannonballed into the pool, drenching both Nick and May with a large wave from the impact.

"Oh-ho, so we're playing that game, are we?!" May proclaimed, spinning around with her arms extended to splash anyone who tried to get near her.

"Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is on now!" Melissa exclaimed as the rest of the spies started heading for the pool.

9:23 P.M. – Location Unknown

She continued to glance back at the tunnel she was walking through, still feeling incredibly guilty about having to leave her friends behind.

Even though they were still under his control, they hadn't lost their old personalities.

They were probably wondering why she'd chosen to run.

If only they knew what he was really planning...

She shook her head to dispel those troublesome thoughts. This wasn't the time for any of that. If she focused too much on what he was planning, she wouldn't get anywhere in stopping him.

She had to focus on finding someone that could help her.

First, though, she had to keep traveling through the hyperdimensional pocket until she was absolutely sure she'd gotten far enough away.

After all, she couldn't leave even a single trace of her trail behind.

She'd learned to jump from one pocket to another to throw off any possible pursuers.

...she just hoped it would be enough.

Totally Spies: Nautical Nasties
~The End~

Final Note from Mat49324: Well, that's all for Nautical Nasties. We hope you liked this project, and that you'll stay tuned for our next one. Just like Nautical Nasties, the next one is going to be full of water as well. I say that because it's titled Danger in the Deep Freeze. I'll also say that for the next few projects, I am planning to have a round of the 2009 Motocross season as either the sub-plot or the epilogue until the final round; never fear though – there's only a few left. There are only 4 to go, but as far as the timeline goes, we will have the spies go back to Mali-U for the Fall semester soon. Anyway, the fun's far from over for our eighth season, and we are coming along with our movie fic; however, as I said in our opening note, our 8th season will be completed before the movie fic is posted. For now, here's The Blue Time Ranger for his final thoughts.

Final Note from The Blue Time Ranger: And that's a wrap! We only have ten more to go before the big one, and I'm excited. Rei the stingray mutant was actually based on Rei Bubbles, a stingray Virtual YouTuber I've been enjoying recently. And yes, our season eight guest star (who will be fully revealed soon) is also based on one of my favorite V-Tubers. See if you can guess who.

Like we mentioned above, we're also working on another movie! I know what you're thinking, "so soon after Forgo Dreams"? Well, I got bit by the idea bug, and I wanted to jump on it before it faded. And this movie's going to be very different from our standard fare. This next movie is called Totally Spies the Movie: Another Side, Another Story, and it's essentially an alternate world story of Nick, May and Bridget's arrival in Beverly Hills to join the OG spy team. If I say too much, though, I'll end up spoiling everything I've got planned, so you're just gonna have to wait. Even though we're working on it now, we made a concession to wait to post this movie until after season eight is over, like we usually do.

And finally, the upcoming caper! Next time on Totally Spies: The New Adventures, we're not done with the water shenanigans just yet, as two water (and water-adjacent) villains are teaming up to bring literal cold death down onto the spies, but two of them might be affected more than others. You'll just have to come and break the ice with us next time on Danger in the Deep Freeze, which will be posted by Mat. So, until next time, have a fantastic day, don't listen to the screeching morons, enjoy this preview of Danger in the Deep Freeze, and we'll see you next mission!

"You know what, I'm kinda thinkin' about joining them," May chuckled. "Anyone else want in?"

Before the rest of the spies could reply to that offer, a large blast of blue light shot down from the sky and struck the pool, swiftly freezing it and forming a large dome of ice around the pool, trapping both Nick and Haruka inside the ice dome.

"Okay, who's the wise-ass?!" Mat shouted.

"I think they're up there," Melissa stated, pointing to just above the beach house, where both Frankie Dude and Doctor Gelee could be seen flying inside a large, pod-shaped vehicle.

"I hope you like our little snowy surprise, you uncool dudes and dudettes!" Frankie Dude shouted.

"You've got some nerve making a house call, you know!" May exclaimed as she summoned her anchor and attempted to crack the ice dome...

...only to find that, despite all the power she put into her swings, her anchor didn't even make a dent.

"...okay, this might be a problem," May quipped.

"You have no idea how right you are, little pirate," Gelee laughed. "My new ice formula can't be broken so easily, as I've designed it to be extra thick so that not even your boy toy's psychic powers can break through it. And even if he could power up, I'm sure he'd rather focus on conserving his powers so those two don't freeze to death."

"You want me to fly up there and slap you both into next millennium?!" Alex shouted. "Let them go this instant!"

"Sorry, but that ain't happenin'," Frankie Dude retorted. "If you want any chance of saving them, you're gonna have to put a stop to our little mini-schemes all over the place."

"Tick, tock, the clock is ticking, spies," Gelee cackled as they flew away, leaving the spies to ponder what they were supposed to do.

"Well, this is a pickle, isn't it?" Clover groaned. "And just when we were starting to have fun, too..."

"Clover, focus!" Alex shouted. "We need to find some way to get those two out of there!"

"You guys just get out there and stop whatever they're planning!" Nick exclaimed. "We'll try out best to hold out as long as we can!"

"Hey, we're tough, remember?" Haruka quipped. "You all just take care of business."

To be continued in Totally Spies: Danger in the Deep Freeze...
