It's been a while lol, found these on my computer when clearing it out and thought I should upload them :) Enjoy
The Hunter
Naruto woke up to his skull pounding heavily and his ears ringing. It felt as though he had been knocked over the head with a sledgehammer. He let out a groan that was muffled by the floor his face was lying on. His body felt heavy, he couldn't seem to move at all, and he couldn't seem to sort through his groggy memory to remember what happened to him. Waiting for his heart to calm down, he took a couple of deep breaths before finding it in him to push up off of the ground.
There had been a lot of noises in the room that he hadn't seemed to notice until it went eerily silent the moment he moved. Naruto had been able to move so that he was kneeling down instead of stomach down on the ground. His head felt as heavy as if it were filled with water, shown in the way he couldn't straighten his neck properly, so he knelt in a somewhat crouched position, trying to release some of the pressure on his head.
It took a few seconds to clear his head of some of the pressure, but his memories still evaded him. His first thoughts were filled with his vampire and where he was. Without a second thought, he reached out to Sasuke through the bond, hoping to find some kind of solace or explanation from his other half.
"I'm right here Naruto."
Despite the pain he was in, Naruto's head whipped around to where the familiar voice seemed to be coming from.
His eyes immediately found the form of Sasuke standing a mere few metres away from him. His clothing was rumpled, and his hair was a mess, but it was surely his Sasuke. Feeling more relieved his eyes flickered to the other occupants of the room that he hadn't originally noticed. Naruto's eyes roamed over the Uchiha family standing slightly behind Sasuke and in similar states but more or less unharmed.
In that instant, Sasuke moved to reach Naruto- not that the human could actually see it- but seemed to be stopped just before he reached him and was flung backwards through the air into the arms of his mother.
"How many times do I have to tell you?" Naruto froze. The voice sounded so familiar, he remembered something, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. His head turned slowly to look at the man as he continued to growl at the Uchihas.
"Nobody touches my brat until I get some fucking answers!"
Naruto didn't even need to see the man's face to know how it was. The seal, the explosion, the kidnapping, and every single memory he shared with his godfather, Jiraya came racing back.
The human almost passed out again at the sheer amount of information that assaulted his head but instead, he tried to stand. He couldn't fully understand the situation but there was a confrontation of sorts that he really needed to diffuse.
"What's going on?" Naruto spoke softly between his gritted teeth. His brain pounded painfully against his skull as he slowly moved his feet out from underneath him. From the corner of his eye, he could see all members of the Uchiha family (even Itachi) take a step hesitantly in his direction as if to help him stand. Suppressing a smile, he waved them off and yanked roughly at the long white hair of his godfather.
"Ow you brat, when will you stop doing that." The older man groaned as he snatched his hair strands from the hands of the blond.
Naruto rolled his eyes and let himself be pulled to his feet by the man, "when you stop calling me a brat. Now answer my question, what's going on?"
The Uchiha family watched as Naruto stood confidently in front of the man who was mostly unscathed in the fight, he had a couple of cuts and probably a sore arm but they could barely scratch him in the end. The blond's eyes levelled at the older man, unwaveringly despite the clench in his jaw giving away the pain he was still feeling in his body.
"I'm protecting you." The man answered with a shrug.
Naruto's eyes flickered across the room to land on the group of vampires, "from my family, Jiraya, they mean no harm to me."
The immediate answer from Naruto made Sasuke's body vibrate with joy, they were his family.
"They're vampires you brat," Jiraya hissed almost threateningly, his body still angled towards the Uchihas while his eyes never left Naruto's blue ones, "you have to be born one for them to ever accept you as their own, they will always see you as lesser."
From across the room, the youngest Uchiha puffed up in indignation, "he is my mate-"
"He is not your mate!" The roar that bellowed from Jiraya was heavy and indisputable. It was no mystery to the inhabitants of the cabin that Naruto was truly destined for someone else. The fact clawed at Sasuke's heart every day that he spent with the human, and he would never be able to forget it, even if they did fully bond.
A sigh cut through the thick silence in the room, all eyes turned to watch Naruto warily.
"We know Jiraiya," the blond's casual shrug turned into a wince as he remembered the pain his body was in. Once again, Sasuke moved to be closer to his other half in an instant but instead of being battered away, he came face to face with the older human.
The vampire's face was stoic, but his hands were clenched and ready to attack at any moment.
"They have already hurt you Naruto," Jiraya's eyes never left the vampire's face as he spoke. "They forced you to use your powers despite the blood runes that I placed on you. I immediately sensed it when your heart almost stopped; you would've died brat. I wouldn't want to leave you with them even if I could to."
Jiraya watched the pained expression grow on the youngest Uchiha's face as if reliving harrowing memories. The other members of the family shrunk back in shame; another undeniable fact presented to them by the stranger; they had almost killed Naruto.
The tension in Sasuke's body fell away in an instant when warm fingers wrapped themselves around his wrist. Giving into the tug, he easily slid past the older human whose jaw remained clenched and leant into the pull of his mate. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around the shorter man and placed his cheek upon the blond head of hair. As if relieved of all of his discomfort, the youngest vampire sighed happily and breathed in the scent that he could never get enough of.
Sasuke didn't care at that moment who was there or who could see them, he shivered in delight when Naruto's fingers clenched desperately at the back of his shirt. He felt the blond breathe out heavily into the crook of his neck and closed his eyes to savour the feeling that had been ripped away from him before. As if he didn't know what life was like without his human in his arms.
"Enough!"
The two men snapped to attention as if remembering the rest of the room. Naruto turned his eyes to Jiraya without taking a step away from his vampire. The hunter looked at his godson pleadingly.
"Naruto, please, the blood rune has come undone now, you know what you need to do. You cannot stay with these vampires." The Uchiha clan marvelled at the emotions that flitted over Naruto's face as he took in the words of his godfather. They were not privy to the secret understanding the two men had or how they knew each other and so were shocked when the blond tried to step out of Sasuke's embrace.
Without missing a beat, Sasuke pulled the human back into him, wrapping one arm around the smaller man's waist while the other wrapped around his head, keeping his face in the crook of his neck.
"You're not going anywhere, Naruto," he held tighter when the blond tried to struggle, "I only just got you back, you can't leave me again." He whispered desperately into the soft blond tresses that slipped between his fingers.
The futile struggle to escape ceased, replaced with the blond shaking his head back and forth.
"You don't understand Sasuke," his voice was muffled but the whole room heard the tremble in his voice, "these memories that I have now…"
His face pulled back to look the other man in the eye and Sasuke let him.
"They change everything."
Mikoto shuffled the occupants of the cabin further into the room when silence fell among the group. Behind where they had been previously fighting, there was a lightly furnished living room where Sasuke and Naruto sat on a sofa with their fingers intertwined. The rest of the Uchiha family stood behind the couch while Jiraya started pacing in front of the couple.
Fugaku placed a comforting hand on his youngest son's shoulder while looking around the room curiously. There wasn't much on show to explain to the vampire who the mysterious human was apart from a small picture he could see on a table behind where they stood. In the picture was a much younger Naruto smiling cheekily with his eyes scrunched closed, his little hand was held by a red-haired teenager who was smiling softly at the younger blond; Fugaku could only assume that this was Naruto's brother who had been kidnapped. Behind the two boys were two adults who Fugaku was sure were the boy's parents as the two were spitting images of their sons. The Uchiha patriarch stared closely at the picture in curiosity; Naruto had never spoken of any members of his family, except his brother, so he had assumed they had died when he was very young. In the picture, the blond was old enough to still have memories of his parents at his age so they must've been suppressed by the blood rune like his other memories were, Fugaku could only wonder why.
"Done snooping yet, leech?" Fugaku's head snapped back to the older human in surprise.
"I apologise." He bowed his head regretfully.
Jiraya shook his head with a snort, "I'll tell you all you need to know so you understand why you need to let Naruto go." He gestured at the two men on the sofa.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed as he pulled Naruto closer to him.
"As you know, Naruto is the other half of a vampire," Jiraya started out and the Uchiha's listened with rapt attention while the blond fidgeted in his seat, "but obviously not the other half of this brat." He looked pointedly at Sasuke who rolled his eyes.
"But Naruto isn't a normal other half, the power within him has been passed down within his family for generations."
One of Itachi's sleek eyebrows rose, "I've never heard of that happening before."
Jiraya shook his head, "because no one is supposed to know, if any vampire found out they would have come after Naruto and his family to seek the power. It cannot fall into the hands of any vampire, especially not the one vampire it belongs to."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed and his hand clenched harder around Naruto's, "but why?" He hissed in anger, "Why can't we be with him? Who is Naruto's other half?"
A sigh fell from Jiraya's lips, his face suddenly seeming haggard to the Uchihas as they watched the man slump over as if tired of carrying his own weight. "I don't know, I've never been told. All I know is that whoever he is, he is the embodiment of evil. By claiming the power that Naruto has, the world would change as we know it."
Naruto slumped forward where he sat to lay his face in the palm of his hand. Biting his lip, he tried to remove his hand from Sasuke's, who surprisingly let go easily. Hiding his shock, the human turned to face away from the vampire when a hand slipped around his waist and pulled him flush up against the other man.
Sasuke gently raised a hand to cart his hand through the blond hair to rest his head on his shoulder. Letting out a sigh of relief, Naruto melted into the embrace and allowed himself to be comforted.
"And who are you to Naruto?" All heads turned to the matriarch of the Uchiha family whose gaze was pointed steadily at Jiraiya, "Why is it your job to protect him from vampires?"
A smirk grew on the older man's face, "The name 's Jiraya, and for centuries, my family have protected Naruto's family from vampires."
His grin was malicious as he spun his staff around on his fingers effortlessly, "I'm a vampire hunter."
