Kyle is sitting at the table studying hard for his upcoming Maths test, he is muttering to himself as he works on it. For each question he writes the answer and how he got it out twenty times.
He runs his hands through his hair, his brain is tired, but he has to keep going.
However, his older brother has other plans.
Brax leans down and picks up Kyle's books.
"Alright break time," he announces.
He has watched his brother sit at the table for four hours and the only breaks he had was when he went to the toilet.
"What? No! I need to keep studying!" Kyle gasps.
"Kyle, you're going to overdo it. Look, take a break, why don't you bake some muffins or something? I know you love it," Brax says, as he puts Kyle's books up high out of reach.
"Brax! I can't reach them when they're up there, it's not fair!" Kyle protests as he stares up sadly at his books.
"Kyle, you know this stuff. I know you do. I just want you to have a rest, after you bake some muffins then you can study more," Brax informs, as he runs a hand through his little brother's hair.
"Okay," Kyle whispers, defeated.
He goes to the sink and washes his hands and then gets out everything that he needs to make banana chocolate chip muffins.
Brax smiles, happy that his brother is doing something other than studying.
He walks towards his room to watch some TV.
Heath walks into the house to see Kyle in the kitchen and he looks around to see that no one else is nearby. He quickly walks over to him to see what he's doing.
"Yum! What are you making, Bubs?" Heath asks.
He walks behind his brother and wraps an arm around his shoulder.
"Banana chocolate chip muffins," Kyle replies nervously; wondering what his brother wants.
He's still in pain from the wedgie that Heath had given him.
He slowly starts to spoon the finished banana mixture into the muffin tin.
"Yum! I love your banana chocolate chip muffins!" Heath praises and sticks his finger in the bowl to get some mixture and then sticks it in his mouth and then goes to do it again.
"No! Heath, that's unhygienic!" Kyle protests trying to stop his brother.
Unfortunately, he is no match for his brother's strength and Heath sticks his finger in the bowl again and eats some more.
"Very yum, Squirt!" Heath smiles and goes to eat some more, but Kyle stands in front of him.
"No, please stop, Heath!" Kyle pleads.
"Fine," Heath smirks and waits for his brother to turn around.
When he does, Heath gives him a wet willy.
"Heath! Stop it, that's even more unhygienic!" Kyle whines; so sick of Heath picking on him.
Heath smirks and gets an idea as he sees Kyle's briefs sticking out from above his pants.
"Is this unhygienic?" He asks and yanks Kyle's briefs up causing him to squeak in pain.
He holds him in the air and laughs as he struggles.
"Owww! Heath! I'm still in pain from the last wedgie you gave me. Please let me go!" Kyle whimpers.
"I asked you a question! Is this unhygienic?" Heath laughs and smirks as his brother continues to struggle.
"No," Kyle whimpers, "but it hurts, so please just let me go."
"I don't know, I mean, I'm having fun!" Heath laughs.
"Please Heath! I beg you!" Kyle squeaks and is relieved when Heath lets him go.
Kyle breathes a sigh of relief and stuffs his briefs back in his pants.
"I'm looking forward to those muffins, Squirt," Heath smirks and quickly gives Kyle another quick wet willy.
"You told me that you were going to stop picking on me," Kyle mumbles.
"I meant with the pranks. I'm still going to mess with you; you're my little brother. I wouldn't be doing my job right if I didn't," Heath teases as he ruffles up his brother's hair and walks away.
Kyle sighs and drops his head. He then quickly washes his hands before he continues to bake.
It's later and the Braxton's are all sitting down eating muffins.
"These are delicious, little man!" Brax smiles and ruffles Kyle's hair.
"Yeah, Squirt; they're so good!" Heath smirks and pinches Kyle's cheeks, "You're such a good boy!"
Kyle rolls his eyes at his brother's comment.
"Aren't you glad that you took a break from studying?" Brax asks.
"Yeah, I guess," Kyle replies.
He's wondering if he would have avoided the wedgie if he had just been studying; probably not, but there is a chance.
"Can I have my study books back?" Kyle asks.
"Nerd," Heath coughs.
Brax glares at Heath but then looks back at Kyle.
"Of course you can, kiddo," he says and goes and gets Kyle's textbooks.
"Just don't study too hard; I mean it," Brax says.
"Okay Brax," Kyle says smiling, as he opens up his books and starts to study again.
Casey starts to reach out for another muffin, but Brax stops him.
"No more Casey, it'll be dinner time soon," Brax says.
As he puts the lid on the container and puts it away.
"But Brax!" Casey moans, all he wants is another muffin, surely that can't hurt.
"No, Casey, you'll spoil your dinner. Don't you have homework to do?" Brax asks.
"No," Casey lies, the last thing he feels like doing is studying.
"You better not be lying to me Casey," Brax warns.
"Fine!" Casey huffs and stomps off to his and Kyle's room.
Brax rolls his eyes at his brother's attitude before turning back to his other little brother. He sees Kyle back to studying hard.
"That's my bright boy!" he praises smiling, and ruffles his brother's hair, then makes his way to his room.
Heath leans over and smirks at his little brother.
"I had fun again today, Kyle, can't wait until next time," he laughs and gives his brother a wet willy before leaving the room.
Kyle breathes a sigh of relief; he can finally study in peace for the remainder of the weekend.
Come eight o'clock on Monday morning, Casey makes his way out into the kitchen after getting dressed for school.
Kyle is already up early and is currently sitting at the dining table, eating his cereal, whilst reading over his notes for Math.
"Haven't you studied enough already?" Casey moans, as he pours himself a bowl of cornflakes and proceeds to then soak them in milk.
"Leave Kyle alone about his studies; there is nothing wrong with wanting to strive for the best," Brax informs, while cleaning away his own breakfast dishes.
"I'm just saying. Kyle practically spent the whole weekend studying. What a waste of a good weekend," Casey comments and sits down at the table, shoving a large spoonful of cereal in his mouth.
"How Kyle chooses to spend his time is entirely up to him and I should hope you did a little bit of studying for your Maths exam today too, Casey," Brax replies.
"Umm...I looked at my notes a couple of times," Casey answers sheepishly.
Brax lets out a heavy sigh and crosses his arms.
"I tried honest Brax, but it's just so boring and hard, and who wants to spend time doing study; unless you're weird? No offence Ky," Casey moans.
"None taken," Kyle grumbles back; knowing what Casey was like with his ability to speak before he thinks.
"Well, either way I just want you both to do the best you can, though I can't deny it would be nice to see some passing marks on tests from you Casey," Brax comments.
"How can I pass and do my best at the same time?" Casey asks cheekily and gulps down the last bits of his cereal by tipping the bowl up into his mouth.
"Oh crap!" Casey exclaims when he accidentally spills some of his cereal milk down his school shirt.
Kyle glances up from his book and shakes his head; his little brother could be such a grub sometimes.
Brax tosses Casey a cloth to wipe his shirt and notices as Kyle shifts awkwardly in his seat.
"Are you alright, Kyle?" Brax asks and rests a gentle hand on Kyle's back.
"Yeah, just a bit sore still from you know...Friday and..." Kyle mumbles.
"He means when Heath was a jerk and gave him that wedgie!" Casey blurts out.
Kyle shuffles nervously, he doesn't want Brax to know that Heath has given him a wedgie since then.
Brax sighs in frustration; considering if he would have to have words with his younger brother again on the way he treated Kyle with overstepping the boundaries and really hurting Kyle with his wedgie.
"Have you been putting any soothing lotion on like I suggested the other night?" Brax asks.
"Yeah, sometimes but it doesn't always help," Kyle mumbles with a blush.
"You should consider banishing Heath from the house, Brax. All he does is eat our food and pick on us," Casey comments.
"I am not banishing Heath from anything. He is part of this family despite the way he acts sometimes. I'll have another talk with him about not giving you boys such a hard time," Brax explains and rubs Kyle on the back.
"I like my idea better," Casey mumbles.
"Why don't you just go and get ready so I can drop you at school. You too Kyle," Brax instructs.
Casey leaves and heads to the bathroom to clean his teeth, while Kyle closes his book and gets up to place it in his backpack.
Brax grabs both of the boy's used bowls and takes them to the sink to clean.
"Sorry, I was going to do that," Kyle says.
"It's fine. Just go and get ready."
Kyle leaves to go and brush his teeth, just as Casey is walking out of the bathroom.
Casey goes about packing his bag, while Brax is organising the boy's lunches.
Brax puts a piece of leftover zucchini slice, one of Kyle's muffins, a banana, and some rice crackers in each of his little brother's lunch containers and adds a tin of tuna in spring water to Kyle's, and a tin of chicken in spring water to Casey's.
"Here is your lunch, boys," Brax says, and hands the containers to both his brothers; Kyle having just returned from cleaning his teeth.
"Thanks Brax," they both reply and shove their containers in their backpacks.
"Alright, well let's get you both off to school, so I can head into work. I have a busy morning ahead."
Brax grabs his wallet, Ute keys and business books he left on the cupboard and follows Kyle and Casey out.
On his way down the driveway, Brax was met with the sound of his little brothers having a heated discussion.
"I called it first!" Casey argues.
"But you always call it and besides I never even heard you call it!" Kyle retaliates with a frown; his stress levels making him argumentative with his somewhat juvenile little brother.
"I called it as soon as I left the house!" Casey shouts back.
"Well, I didn't hear so it doesn't count," Kyle grumbles.
He really wanted to just sit in the front and feel the security of his big brother in a hope to ease his anxiety, rather than sitting in the back on his own.
"That's not my fault; you were too busy checking your study notes for like the zillionth time," Casey retorts.
"That's not even humanly possible," Kyle corrects.
"Who says you're..."
Casey is quickly cut off from finishing his response of Kyle not being human when Brax approaches the two disgruntled teens.
"Oi: why are we arguing?" Brax questions firmly.
Both teens remain quiet, glaring at each other, as Brax unlocks his Ute.
"I want answers: Kyle, Casey," Brax requests.
Kyle notices Casey's sly move in approaching the front of Brax's Ute and he is determined in getting his chance so makes a dash for the front passenger door as well.
Brax steps in front of them and slams his hand on the door, preventing either of his brothers from entering the front seat.
"Will one of you answer me and do it quickly; I have to get you off to school," Brax orders.
"Casey's saying he yelled shotgun when he clearly didn't," Kyle explains, glaring at Casey again.
"I did! Kyle's just deaf to anything other than the swarms of knowledge inside his brain," Casey retorts.
Kyle shakes his head not willing to bite back on Casey's ridiculous comment that made no sense.
"So, you mean to tell me this petty argument is over who is sitting in the front seat of my Ute to go ten minutes up the road to school? I have half a mind to make you both sit in the back," Brax reprimands.
Kyle moves back to make his way to the back seat, obeying Brax's threat.
"I just wanted a turn for once; Casey always gets to be in front," Kyle says, turning to face Brax.
"That's because I'm younger and taller," Casey teases and sticks his tongue out at Kyle.
"Oi: enough out of you; it is not because you are younger or taller, and just for that remark you can sit in the back. Kyle you can have the front seat," Brax informs, while giving Casey a slight tap with the back of his hand.
"Fine, take his side," Casey huffs and swaps places with Kyle.
"Just get in: the both of you. I don't wish to have to sign you in for being tardy, nor be late for work," Brax orders in his authoritative no-nonsense tone.
Both boys get in and the ride to school is silent.
Casey settles by the time they reach the school.
"Behave today and good luck the both of you on your tests," Brax says.
Casey gets out after saying a quick goodbye and rushes over, to greet: Liam, Ryder, Romeo, and Dex.
Kyle is much slower to get out.
"Hey Kyle; you okay kiddo?" Brax asks, scowling in concern.
Kyle nods, "Just worried about doing my test."
Brax smiles, "You'll do outstanding like you always do. Make me proud!"
Kyle says goodbye and shuts the door then heads over to join Casey and greet his friends, as Brax drives away from the school.
