Eda and Raine looked inside of Skara's room, seeing that she was still asleep. They felt sad that this girl has pretty much had her life messed up... twice. First the Apocalypse happens, then she finds out her parents died several months before that.
She had suffered more in a few months than either of them combined. At least Eda and Raine still had their parents alive into their adulthoods.
And they had each other but Skara didn't have anyone. Eda held the papers and she just needed Skara to sign them to make it official.
"Do you think she'll be okay with this?" Eda asked, looking at Raine. "I'm not saying I'm against it but she might feel like we're trying to replace her parents."
"I know but that's fine if she doesn't accept us as parents. She could see us as just guardians but in the end, we still want to help her." Raine said, putting a hand in Eda's shoulder. "Come on, let's go in."
The married couple slowly pushed the door open and walked into Skara's room, making sure not to wake her as Raine used a little magic to cancel the noise from the floor.
The two saw how peaceful she looked, they almost hated that they had to wake her up.
"Skara?" Eda said, gently shaking her.
"Mmm." Skara let out, slowly opening her eyes.
"We have something you need to sign." Eda said, "Then we'll bring you anywhere you want."
Skara slowly sat up and yawned.
"Sign what?" Skara asked, rubbing her eye.
"Something that will help your current situation but it's completely up to you." Raine said softly as they sat on the bed next to Skara.
It didn't even register that her hero was sitting next to her, she just grabbed the papers and signed them, not even reading them. Not like it could hurt her even more. She handed the papers back to Eda.
"Okay." Eda said, rolling the papers up, and using magic to send them to Lilith, "That should take a few days, and then you'll be the newest Clawthorne-Whispers."
"Okay." Skara said as she yawned again before she stopped. "Wait what?"
"Yep, we can't let you live in this giant empty mansion all alone." Eda said, "So yeah, you're our kid now."
Raine pulled Skara into a hug.
"You don't have to see us as replacement parents, you can see us as guardians if you want." Raine said, "And don't worry, the Manor will legally be yours when you turn 18."
"B-But-But…..w-why?" Skara asked, the news of this slowly sinking in.
"Because, we don't want you to be alone." Eda said, "I know what it's like to lose everything, it took a long time before my life finally got back to normal, and I'm hoping I can help you get your life back to normal faster."
Skara just looked down at the ground, not saying anything.
"Come on, let's go get something to eat, you look like you need it." Raine said, feeling Skara's ribs through her shirt.
Right as she said that, Skara's stomach growled. Skara blushed from this as Eda and Raine chuckled from this.
"O-Okay." Skara muttered.
"Don't worry, kid. I know a good place that will fill you up good." Eda said, patting Skara on the back.
The new parents walked out of the dirty manor, as Skara looked back at it, as if she would never be able to come back.
"Skara?" Raine asked her.
"What….What will happen to my parents?" She asked them.
"They'll get a proper burial, don't worry, we will make sure that everything will be okay." Raine said, putting a hand on the girls shoulders.
"…Will I be able to visit them?" Skara asked.
"Anytime you want." Eda said, holding Skara's left hand. "I promise."
"Come on, let's go get some food and introduce you to your new baby brother." Raine said.
Skara nodded to them as they continued walking away from Melody Manor, holding onto Eda's hand tightly.
As they did, in another part of the Isles, Amity was running with Luz through the town.
"Can you explain why you're so worried?" Luz asked, grabbing her hat to make sure it didn't fly off, "Or why you're suddenly to run at mach one?"
"The others will explain it when we get there!" Amity said, pulling Luz.
Luz felt a bit of fear, as she hasn't seen them since the intervention. Luz had managed to fix things with her girlfriend but not her other friends.
Amity knew that, and she had plans to deal with that, but first she wanted to focus on the problem at hand.
"We're almost there!" Amity said to Luz.
It wasn't long before she ran into Willow's house and up the stairs before practically throwing the Titan in the room.
"We're here!" Amity shouted as she slammed the door behind her!
"Are you ever going to explain the sudden speed you had?" Luz asked.
"Not important." Amity said, "What's the problem?"
"We saw the person that mutilated Cat." Willow said.
"How can you be sure?" Luz asked, remaining calm.
"How many people go around wearing an eye as a ring?" Hunter asked.
"Her eye?! They used her eye as a ring?!" Amity shouted in outrage.
The three nodded, both Amity and Luz felt sick at the thought of that.
"We only managed to catch a glimpse of them before they vanished into thin air. Either by teleportation or invisibility." Gus said.
"We need to find them, they need to pay for what they did." Luz said, punching her hand.
"And we need to plan accordingly if one of us sees them and decides to follow." Amity said before turning to Luz. "Also, you need to face your fear."
"Fear? Why fear?" Luz asked, looking at Amity.
"This fear." Amity said, gesturing to Gus, Willow, and Hunter. "Our friends."
"Amity, I-" Luz was cut off as Amity held her hand up.
"Luz, I am not going to argue with you on this." She said.
"But Amity-"
"No buts, Luz. And no escape." Amity said before making a barrier appear over door and windows. "Not until this is finally resolved."
Luz looked at the barriers before she gave Amity a look.
"You really think that could stop me?" Luz asked.
"It will if you don't want to destroy Willow's home." Amity said.
"I can teleport away." Luz said, putting her hands on her hips.
"I'll teleport you back." Amity said, her hands on her hips.
"No you can't." Luz argued.
"I'm fully of surprises, honey. Just try me." Amity said, smirking a tiny bit.
Luz growled at her.
As the two girlfriends locked eyes in a stare down, the Emerald Trio were left watching in somewhat awkward concern.
"Are they arguing or flirting?" Gus whispered to Willow.
"I'm... not sure." Willow whispered back.
"I'd be more concerned about what Amity said, that Luz is afraid of us." Hunter whispered to both of them, concerned and confused.
"Let's just let them talk it out." Gus said.
Luz and Amity argued for a bit, before Luz finally had enough.
"Okay, fine, I'll talk with them!" Luz shouted.
"Great!" Amity said with a smile.
She then draw a spell circle and made abomination chairs for all of them to sit on. Amity sat down first and acted as a moderator.
"Now, Luz, please tell us what the problem is." Amity said, gesturing to Luz.
Luz sighed through her nose as she sat down in a chair, glancing at the Emerald Trio as they did the same.
"My problem is…….that I don't feel I can trust them when I know I should." Luz muttered, glancing to the floor.
"And why is that?" Amity asked, wanting Luz to continue.
"Because….Because of what you guys said while you were puppets." Luz said, pulling her hat down a bit.
Amity began writing in a pad.
'Where the hell did she get that?' Luz thought.
"Okay. Now how do you three feel about this and about what happened?" Amity asked, looking towards Gus, Willow, and Hunter.
"Luz, we never meant what we said in that place." Willow said.
"Maybe not, but we all know that's not true. Deep down, you all have resentment for something I've done." Luz said, glancing up at Willow with one eye. "What if I cause more problems that makes that resentment grow?"
"Luz, you'd never do that." Gus said to her.
"You don't know that, Gus. You LITERALLY don't." Luz said, shooting a glance at him. "Do you guys remember what you said and did there?"
"What we said and did?" Willow asked but Luz could tell she knew. "What do you mean?"
"You KNOW what I mean." Luz said to them.
"Um, Luz. You know we-" Luz cut Hunter off.
"Do you guys remember what you said and did there?" Luz repeated firmly.
The three got quiet.
"Yeah, we do." Hunter said, "And you know what? I don't regret it."
The room was surprised.
"Truth is, I'm glad you know about how we feel deep down, because now we can move past this and start again." Hunter said, looking at Luz with burning determination. "Luz, deep down, I do wish you never came here, but you never heard what I else I had to say. I wish you never came here, because I was happy, I followed what I was told, I believed I was doing good. So yeah, I hate that you came here... but I'm even more glad that you came here because you showed me a new way of life, a better life. I can look around this room and see people I can be honest with, I see people I can trust to have my back in a fight. I can look around this room and see people that have had their lives changed to for the better... because you showed up. No matter what we feel deep down, you showing up was the best thing to ever happen to us."
Out of all the things Luz expected Hunter to say, THAT was NOT one of them. Not even close and the same could be said for Gus and Willow as they took deep breathes and spoke their parts.
"He's right Luz, you showing up has been the greatest thing ever." Willow said, smiling at Luz.
"Yeah, despite all the chaos and trouble we got into, that was never your fault. In fact you help us get out of trouble most of the time!" Gus said before pulling out a paper clip. "If it wasn't for you, I never would've really understood human culture and learned what things like this can really do."
"Amity and I wouldn't be friends again." Willow said.
"I never would've stood up to my mother." Amity said, "You have done so many things for us."
"But if you knew what I did, you-"
"Amity told us about what you did in the past." Willow said, cutting off Luz.
"And I told them what I learned when we were put inside of Belos's mindscape and the research I did when we were trapped on Earth." Hunter added.
"It doesn't matter what you've done in the past, you literally fought to save witches who discriminated against you, that's all that matters." Gus said, giving a thumbs up to Luz.
"B-But what if something new comes along and I screw up again?" Luz asked, looking down as tears fell from her eyes. "I don't want to be the cause of my second home being in danger again."
"You won't screw up. And do you want to know why?" Amity asked.
"Why?" Luz asked, wiping away her tears.
"Because we're with you." Amity said, putting the clipboard away.
"No matter what happens, we're going to be here, through life and death." Willow said.
"Because you would do the same." Gus said.
"Luz... do you trust us?" Hunter asked.
Luz looked down and thought about it. That's when she had an answer.
"With my life." She said to them.
The group smiled, before Amity lowered all the barriers and they all rose up. Luz smiled at them as she walked to the door and opened it.
"Now let's go get that witch." She said, her trust in her friends fully restored.
