Kawaii-Cherri: There's plenty more to come, though I may have to have a reshuffle of some chapters, I'm thinking about adding some certain scenes. I wish i could go to a concert but with three under 7, it's impossible, lol.
AnonGuest: I know it wasn't the most interesting chapter but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
A/N: The site seemed to have issues yesterday and I literally couldn't update. Sorry!
Chapter 33: Fuck around and find out.
Penny put down the crisps she had brought and sat on a chair as she began to yank off her shoes. Her eyes examined Rina carefully and she grins. 'I'm assuming last night went well?' She said with obvious inflections. Rina's face went a little pink and she distracted herself by grabbing Mochi's kibble and filling up his bowl noisily. Penny got up and wandered over to her best friend, she poked her on the neck, where a rather clear love bite was peeking. 'Seems like you really made the marriage official, huh,' she laughs.
'Penny!' Rina whined and covered the mark with her hand. 'Damn, I'm going to have to find one my hoodies or something,' she moaned. 'Oh, Yoba, what must you think of me?' Rina said with a sigh.
'Hey, you said yourself that Sebastian loves you, it's not surprising that you'd have sex,' Penny said as she crosses her arms and looks at Rina. Penny knew that Rina clearly hadn't told Sebastian how she felt, despite what she said on their engagement night, which is why Penny insisted on having a little chat with him on the bridge. Rina finished feeding Mochi and looked at Penny with worry.
'Do you think I'm a shitty person?' She asked, holding her arm and looking at the floor. 'Tell me the truth, I'm gross, aren't I?'
Penny sighs and shakes her head, 'look, it's not great. Y'know, not telling the other person what your true feelings are, could make them feel like they took advantage when they find out. Thing is though, Sebastian, he cares about you and he'd understand. Besides, I'm assuming you didn't just pin him to the bed and those are actually his attempts to escape?' She said with a grin.
'What? No! We talked about it all and made clear what it would mean and things,' Rina said honestly. 'It was all speculation and then… it kinda just happened. A lot.'
'Well like you said, he loves you so why isn't it a good thing? You're married and that's what people who are in love and are married do, so…' Penny said with a pointed inflection and Rina sighs.
Rina's shoulders fell, 'ugh. I am the worst,' she moans.
'Worst at telling someone your true feelings perhaps, though by the sounds of it, seems like you have no problem telling him what you like in bed,' Penny teases.
'Penny!' Rina gasped, her face going red and she stifles a laugh.
Penny wore a wicked grin as she went to the table and poured them both a glass of wine, 'and it was good?' Penny asked, wanting to know all the details. Her relationship with Sam had progressed but it hadn't gotten that far and Penny was curious to know. Rina put away the kibble box and took the wine glass from her with a thanks, the clinked glasses and took a sip before continuing the conversation.
Rina's face was pink and she bit her lip as she looks at Penny. 'It was soo weird,' she said simply.
'Weird? That's not good, does it like, bend to the left in some way? Like a right angle?' Penny replied.
'What? No! No! Yoba, Penny, that's not what I was going on about,' Rina laughs, coughing a little on the sip of wine that she had taken. 'No, no, that's fine. More than fine. That is good,' Rina clarifies. 'No, what was weird was that… it wasn't weird at all. Like at all. There was no real awkwardness and no, "I can't believe you're seeing me naked!" kind of stuff. It was just, hot and fucking sexy. The way he held me and kissed me, he was careful and gentle, yet firm and dominant,' Rina sighs happily as she remembers it all. 'We just seemed to know what the other wanted and were so in tune with what was going on. I can honestly say, it was the best sex I've ever had,' Rina said.
'Rina!' Maru complained as she came through the front door. 'Oh, Yoba, please don't be going on about my brother like that all night,' she whines. 'If you're gonna do that, I'm going home,' she warns.
'Oh, Yoba, Maru, I'm soo sorry, I didn't know you had come in,' Rina apologised, giving a side glare at Penny who was facing the door and would have seen. Penny just grinned and tipped her glass in her direction. Rina was apologising profusely when Emily, Leah and to her surprise, Abigail turned up. All of them had something to contribute and strangely, Abigail was civil enough.
At the reception of the wedding, not a lot was seen of Abigail. She had behaved through the ceremony and then was seen drinking shots like her life depended on it. It was only a couple of hours after that that she was seen being taken home by her father and neither of them had returned. Caroline on the other hand spent most the night with Robin and Jodi getting absolutely trashed and enjoying their night to the full. Rina hadn't spared a second thought about Abigail and was too busy dancing with her friends and Sebastian.
The girl's night carried on in a relatively enjoyable ambience, all of them chatting and having playful disagreements about certain actors in popular films. The topic of the wedding didn't appear, perhaps because her sister-in-law was there and his technical ex, either way, Rina was grateful. It was getting on and they were a few bottles of wine in, when Sebastian came home. He did as he said and just popped his head around the door to say hello and let Rina know he was going to bed. Rina got up and walked over to him, they had a brief, private word and Sebastian rolled his eyes, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. He took out two and held them out of reach of her, making sure she saw that he was wearing a serious expression. 'You can't complain when you wake up tomorrow and your mouth feels like you've licked a donkey's ass,' he says with a grin.
She pouts and then nods, giving him a light kiss when he passes them over. 'Oh, and your lighter, too, please,' she adds as she tucks one behind each ear.
'Lucky, I love you,' he mutters as he fishes it out his pocket, making her giggle, 'alright, I'm going to bed. Be good,' he says with a smile and kisses her forehead. 'Night, ladies,' he said giving everyone else a wave. There was a chorus of goodbyes and he vanishes from sight. Rina bounces back over to her glass and finishes the rest before grabbing a hoodie that was thrown over one of the chairs.
'Alrighty, I'm nipping out to enjoy a sin, line the next film up, will you? I'll grab some more pretzels on the way back,' she said feeling good.
Emily shook her head, 'you shouldn't be smoking, it's a bad habit,' she said honestly.
Rina stuck out her tongue, 'hey, after the night I had, I'm surprised he only gave me two,' she said making some of them whoop and a couple others groan and look away. Rina laughs and feels the warmth of the alcohol in her stomach as she steps outside into the chilly air on her porch. She pulls herself up onto the railing and lights up one of the cigarettes, inhaling deeply. 'Oh fuck, Yoba, I've missed youuu,' she croons at the little white stick. She was on her own for a couple of minutes before her front door opened again and there was Abigail. 'Hey,' Rina said in a friendly tone. 'Too hot in there?' She asked.
Abigail dropped her hip as she folded her arms and looked at Rina. 'Y'know, I tried, I really did, but I just don't think I like you,' she said bluntly.
Rina blinked a couple of times, not surprising, but a little rude, she thought. In the end she shrugged her shoulder. 'Alright, fair enough. Who said you have to like everyone?' She said simply. 'You gonna stay and watch the last film, or you going to head off? If you do go, just text one of the girls and let us know you got home safe.'
Fury crossed Abigail's features. If she could spit fire, it would have happened. 'See! This bullshit! Everyone thinks you're soo sweet and nice and you're just so nasty. You pretend to care about everyone but only if they're of some worth to you. I'm nothing but a reminder that Seb had a life before you arrived and so you cut me out! You divided the group and now Sam barely talks to me and Seb won't even look at me! Ever since you arrived, you've manipulated everyone to think that the sun shines out of your asshole!'
'Are you done?' Rina asked in a bored voice, exhaling smoke into the cold air like a dragon.
'No!' Abigail snaps, she moves up into Rina's boundaries. 'You've got an agenda and I'm the only one that sees it. You've twisted everyone so that you can have your perfect little life. Somehow you even convinced Seb to marry you! Did you know that he hated the idea of marriage? That he always said it was something he didn't want, that he doesn't even want kids!' She says nastily. 'You don't know him, you just spread your legs for him. How convenient it was that you got hitched only months before the assessor was due. That you almost had to go running back to daddy and your silver spoon life!'
Rina just blinks at her before speaking bluntly. 'Fuck you, Abigail.'
'Excuse me?'
Rina rolled her eyes, 'No, I won't excuse you,' she said simply, seeing the vein in Abigail's temple throb. 'What?' Rina added. 'Did you really think I was going to just let you rip into me and have nothing to say about it? I don't have to justify any aspect of my life to you. I thought we were going to be friends but you've done everything you can to stop that,' she replied, trying to keep calm, she took a drag on the cigarette before stubbing it out on her rail and flicking it into the dark. 'I don't get why you feel like I'm such a threat. Is it because I came here and built my life up from nothing? That I worked my ass off getting this farm going and at the same time, managed to cultivate real relationships with people? Just because your life isn't what you want doesn't give you the right to turn around and be such a bitch to me.'
'You use everyone!' Abigail screamed at her. 'Only when you want something do you try to talk and meet people. I know, I watch. You could have told Seb that I didn't invite you to his damn birthday gig, instead you made out like you were a victim; you got hurt and took all his attention, making his family look after you. You make me sick,' she hisses.
Rina stood up, forcing Abigail to take a step back. 'Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm a terrible person. The difference between you and me, though? I don't blame others for my shitty actions and behaviour. I didn't tell him that you didn't invite me because I didn't want to start an argument between you both, you ignorant cow. Same thing as when you didn't invite me camping. I've never held your actions against you, always tried to see the best in you and defended you against those who said otherwise.'
Abigail seethed and narrowed her eyes but Rina wasn't finished. 'Also, for your information, he hates being called "Seb", but I bet you never even asked him, did you?' Rina said simply, wanting to light the other cigarette desperately. 'Did you ever knock on his door and respect his privacy? Ever ask him what he prefers to be called? Ask him if he's, okay? That the reason he was calling or texting so much was because he wanted to talk, or have human contact?' She stood far too close to Abigail and leaned forward into her face. 'Don't assume so much, Abigail. You're aren't as smart as you think you are and this conversation shows it.'
There was a moment of silence before Abigail reached back and slapped Rina across the face, hard. The sound echoed in the night. There were tears in her eyes and she shook with anger. 'How dare you-'
Rina saw red and for the first time in her life, she was gonna throw hands. Abigail didn't get much more of her sentence out as Rina swung around and clipped her in the eye. Abigail's head snapped sideways with the force before she looked at Rina with a deathly glare and a vicious curse was spat out before she jumped onto Rina. The women kicked out at each other and hit with elbows, teeth, nails. They crashed to the decking and Abigail was one her feet first. She swung her foot into Rina's side several times before Rina managed to roll out the way and get up. There was a moment of heavy breathing before Rina stomped hard on Abigail's boot with her heel, making her cry out and when Abigail's head bent down, Rina took a full palmful of Abigail's hair and pulled viciously, slamming her into the brick of the house.
'How dare I? How dare you!' Rina snarls as she holds her arm over her head to block the punches that Abigail threw. Rina had no doubt that Abigail could kick her ass but she wasn't going to go down without a few blows of her own. 'You're just pissed that Sebastian chose me and not you!' Rina screamed at her, knowing it was petty but she wanted to hurt Abigail. She had had enough.
'He wouldn't have chosen you, if he knew the real you!' Abigail shouted back, before Rina tackled her around the waist and pinned her to the floor with her knees on Abigail's arms.
Abigail bucked and swore, lashing out with her legs and cursing Rina to hell. 'Get the fuck off me, you bitch!' Rina didn't reply and instead punched her in the face solidly. Abigail had tears streaming down her face but Rina had given up caring. She was just about to punch her again, aiming to break her nose when a pair of hands grab her under the arms.
She was pulled firmly away from Abigail, Sebastian had soundlessly appeared and he stood in front of Rina, protectively. 'Touch her again and I'll do something I'll regret,' he growls at Abigail who just lies there, shocked at his words and actions, 'Abigail. I think you should leave.'
Abigail gets to her feet with a wobble, blood dripping from her nose. 'You just don't get it! Even now, she insulted me and I defend myself and somehow, I'm the bad person!' Abigail wept.
Rina almost shoved past Sebastian in her fury. 'Fuck you, bitch! You're fucking lucky I only punched you!' Rina screamed back at her, she held her cheek, pain aching in her jaw, her lip felt split and she was sure that there was going to be some heavy bruising.
Sebastian moved in front of Rina and glared at Abigail. His tense body language showed his anger. 'Pheebs, breathe,' he said turning his head towards his wife and knowing better then to tell her to calm down. 'I heard everything!' Sebastian shouted at Abigail. 'The damn bedroom is right there with the window open!' He pointed out. The defiant expression on Abigail's features said it all. 'You knew that though, didn't you? You wanted me to hear. You were hoping that Pheebs would say something…' he muttered, shaking his head. 'I don't know what you're playing at, Abigail, but Pheebs is my wife, I married her because that's what I wanted, because of what we have between us,' Sebastian turns his back to her to check on Rina's face that was going red and looked sore. 'Go away, Abigail. I don't want you here, at my home.'
Abigail's face scrunched up, there was clear indicators of broken skin and bruising. It didn't matter, Sebastian didn't care about the fact that she was hurt. Abigail wipes the blood from her mouth as she barges past Sebastian, not caring that her shoulder rams into him as she does so. Sebastian looks at her with exhaustion, he was tired of this, two yearlong vendetta that she had. Abigail pauses and glances at them both. 'One day, you'll see. I'll be there and I'll be the one picking up the pieces,' she mutters before pulling up her hood and striding away.
Only once she was out of sight did Rina allow herself a pained hiss as she almost bent over. 'Fuuuuck,' she moans, holding her ribs. 'I think she cracked something,' Rina grimaces.
Sebastian picks her up gently and places her on the railing once more, steadying her in place as he looked at her face. 'What the hell were you doing, Pheebs? Fighting?' He said, obviously worried and clearly annoyed. 'You know what she's like-'
'So, what? She just gets a free pass for being an asshole? No! Fuck that! She hit me first, she came out here and started spouting shit, so I did what I did, I cut my knuckles on her teeth and gave her a bald spot,' Rina grunted as she straightened her back.
'You've never been in real fistfight, Pheebs. We used to play fight all the time, Abigail can really do some damage,' he said in concern as he checks her lip and cheek.
Rina stuck out her tongue before hissing in pain, 'look, I don't give a fuck. I may come from a pandered life but she's gonna wake up in the morning feeling like hell. I may not win the fight but I'll go down swinging. The only reason she doesn't have a broken nose right now is because you pulled me off her,' Rina pointed out. 'Now next time she starts mouthing off, she knows I won't hesitate to knock eleven kinds of shit out of her.'
He sighs and shakes his head, wondering what he was going to do with her. Eventually, he decided that this could be addressed at a better time. 'Last I heard, there was only seven kinds of shit,' he mutters as Rina pulls the spare, rather sorry looking, cigarette out from her bra.
'Well, I'm sure if I hit her hard enough, we'll discover some together,' Rina said as she giggled painfully and looks around for the lighter which had rolled out her hoodie pocket. Sebastian picked it up and then took the depressed cigarette out her mouth and chose a fresh one from the pack he had in his tracksuit bottoms.
He lit it and passed it to her gently, exhaling the smoke aside. 'Please… don't do this again,' he said quietly and Rina nodded, it wasn't something she wanted to do in the first place. He presses his forehead against hers and they both go silent.
It was broken by Maru bursting through the front door with the other girls behind her. 'Where is she? I'm gonna tear her damn eyes out! Picking on my sister-in-law? I'll fucking end her!' Maru howled in an intensely deep voice. Penny explained that they heard everything and caught the end of the fight through the kitchen window and Maru couldn't help herself any longer. Emily held Maru, who was breathing heavily through her nose and looking around with crazy eyes. She caught sight of Rina's split lip and shoves Sebastian aside. Gingerly, she passed the cigarette to her brother, ignoring Rina's complaints. 'Oh hush, let me look you over,' she said simply, making her go quiet.
Rina complained at the touch but was grateful for Maru's expertise. Emily scowled as she took a look at Rina's fresh developing bruising. 'I hope you gave her what for,' Emily mutters, there was no love lost towards Abigail, they weren't particularly close.
With a smile, Rina winks at Emily, 'she got as good as she gave,' Rina reassured, making Emily snort.
The girls talk amongst themselves and Penny walks over to Sebastian who looked stressed. 'This is going to travel around town fast,' Penny mutters to Sebastian who simply nods and inhales on the cigarette. 'This isn't going to end well.'
So how much do we hate Abi? Because in the original ending... she didn't improve. I've written more of a redemption, but i can go back to the original -winky face-
