Rachel and Amie were sitting in the car, neither speaking both comfortable in the silence that almost felt familiar.
"Honey, we need to call the police" Rachel said.
"Not yet, I need to borrow your laptop first, I'll show you when I get in".
Aimee knew Trevor had wanted a baby, a couple of months ago he had thrown away her contraceptives and he had stopped using a condom. One of his friends had recently had a son and Trevor was always wanting what others had. At this point Aimee knew she had to try and get out, she had managed to set up a new Gmail account on her work computer and had been recording some of their interactions and emailing then to herself, she had been terrified they had gone to their shared iCloud account but thankfully they had not.
They got into the house and Rachel logged into her laptop and handed it to her daughter who logged into her email account. Rachel was horrified about what she was seeing and hearing, she placed her arms around her little girl and held her close.
"Oh Sweetheart, I never knew it was this bad, we need to go to the police, I don't want any other girl to ever go through that".
"I'm scared Mum".
"I know you are baby, but you have been so brave so far, can you be brave for a little bit longer" she tucked a stray piece of her behind her ear.
"OK, I'll try"
Rachel smiled and kissed the top of her head; she was so happy to have her baby back.
Aimee went up stairs to rest for a while, whilst Rachel made lunch when her phone rang, it was Eddie, probably wondering where she was when she just disappeared.
"Is she home" he practically shouted down the phone, not in anger but excitement.
"Yes"
"Why didn't you tell me".
"She didn't want anyone to know just yet, she just wanted some time with her and I".
"I'll come home".
"No, she is asleep anyway, look let me have some time with her, I think she would prefer to do this gradually than everyone descending on her at once".
"OK, but please don't keep this from me, I had to find out from Janeece who saw her go into your office, half the staff know now".
"Oh, Bloody hell, I should have told her to keep quiet, can you have a quiet word and ask her to keep quiet, I don't want the kids finding out before we tell them".
"Sure, but I think I better tell the kids, at least Philip and Danielle, Rachel, how is she?"
"Sore, it was much worse than we thought, I'm hoping after lunch we could call the police, it won't be too long before he knows she has gone".
"You don't think he would come here".
"I have no idea Eddie".
"Look I got to go, I think Aimee is wakening up and lunch is almost ready".
"OK, please just keep me in the loop and I will go find Danielle and Philip".
Danielle and Philip had been together since high school, they now had a little red headed girl, 6-year-old Truly, the lived in a lovely semidetached 3 bed houses just around the corner from Eddie and Rachel. They were both teachers now, Philip teaching Desing and Technology and Danielle teaching English.
Eddie found Danielle and Philip eating in her classroom.
"Are the rumours true, I heard Steph telling Matt that Aimee is home" Philip said the second Eddie was in the door.
Eddie motioned with his hands for him to calm down "Yes, its true, I just found out myself, she is home with Rachel, she doesn't want to see us just yet" Eddie quickly added as Philip was making his way out of the classroom.
Back at home, Aimee had gone back downstairs she had changed from her work clothes and was now wearing leggings and an oversize jumper, Rachel had made her favourite lunch which she really appreciated. "Thanks for this Mum, remember when I was 13 and this was all I ever wanted to eat".
"I do, and now you can have toast and ravioli every day if you want, but we really need to call the police now,".
"I was thinking maybe we just leave it".
"I am not going to force you, but I don't want him coming anywhere near you, or your brothers and sister, Isabella and Truly are just little".
"Maybe I should leave then find somewhere else to stay, he won't be a threat to you if I'm not here".
"No, absolutely not, this is your home, you stay here with us, but I really think we should call the police".
"What if the police say I'm just stupid and don't believe me".
"That won't happen, why don't we call John, get him to come along and he can tell us what is best to do". John, was a police sergeant one of Eddies friends from the gym and the pub, latterly in their older age it was the pub they were meeting in. Aimee had always liked John to had helped her when she had gotten into a bit of trouble with some local gangs when she was younger.
"OK"
Half an hour later, John was sitting in the living room with Aimee and Rachel, he had agreed that they should make a formal complaint and report Trevor. He called another officer in who took her statements.
"You were very brave to get all this evidence".
"Thanks, just such an idiot that I let him do this to me".
"You're not an idiot, do you know how many times I have sat with a young woman to take statements like this, this is not your fault, you have done nothing wrong".
"Thanks, what happens now".
"I have a friend who works up in Leeds, I'm going to call him just now and see if he can put a rush on this. They will go and arrest him; do you have any idea where he is just now".
Aimee looked up to the clock above the fireplace" He should still be at work, he said he had meetings all day today, which is why I knew he would be busy and distracted so I left today" She gave the address to John, who soon left.
"Mum, you don't have any pregnancy tests in the house do you".
"Funnily enough I don't. I do have some in work, but not here" Rachel had at least a few times a year have girls come to her or Kim thinking they were pregnant and had kept tests for them, thankfully 9 times out of 10 the girls weren't pregnant.
"Can we go to Tesco and pick some up".
"Are you sure you want to know just now; would you rather wait a day or two" After Aimes comment earlier about going back to Trevor if she wasn't pregnant, she was trying to hold off for a while before she took a test.
"I need to know; I know what I said before, but I don't want to go back. If I am not pregnant then the chances are I will be next month"
Rachel drove to Tesco and picked up 2 tests, Aimee went into the bathroom in Rachel and Eddis en-suit to take the test.
"I can't look Mum" Aimee said as she came out of the bathroom and sat on the bed next to her Mum. Rachel took the test off her and flipped it over.
