Story 102

Not so Honeymoon now

Alva Mon tossed and turned on top of the hotel bed's covers. For what was supposed to be a honeymoon, why did she feel so on edge? After what had happened at the dinner, things were starting to look up. In the few ways that they could in this situation.

"U ̄ n... (Ugh…)" the alpha knight digimon thought and looked over to the bathroom door. What exactly was taking the love of her life so long to get ready? They had a busy day planned and every second counted. At least, in her mind. Whether or not the couple would be able to hit even half of that stuff on that metaphorical list remained to be seen.

"Koko ni iru yo! (Here I am!)" Laura Night Mon announced as she threw the bathroom door open. Alva's gaze swiveled over to her, eyes locked onto her wife's lolita dress. Getting up from the bed, she closed the distance with ease. The perfect time for a romantic embrace.

"Subarashī. (You look amazing.)" Alva cooed and watched Laura look away. Cheeks glowing light gray, muttering escaped her lips. Meeting Alva's gaze, she met for one more embrace. Breaking away a couple seconds later, it felt amazing.

"Arigatō. Anata mo. (Thanks. You too.)" Laura answered, watching her wife's face going 'light pink' for just a moment. Returning to normal and quickly as it happened, a chuckle escaped her lips. Dressed in the lolita suit that they commissioned Usagi to make, she looked absolutely divine. Befitting her position in the Royal Knights. "Mazu doko ni ikitaidesu ka? (Where do we want to go first?)"

Alva looked over to the hotel bed. There, a handful of maps of the surrounding area had been laid out in the hopes of helping with the decision process. Whether or not they actually accomplished that plan, remained to be seen. Alva wanted to believe that they helped, but that could just be the stress starting to get to her.

"Wakaranai. Watashi ga eraba reshi kodomo-tachi to tatakatta ano hiroba ni ikitaidesu ka? (I don't know. Want to go to that plaza where I fought the chosen children?)" Alva suggested, Laura nodding in agreement.

"Watashi ni totte wa umaku ikimasu. (Works for me.)" Laura answered as Alva walked over to a small table set against the wall. A pair of purses awaited use. The one on the left was done up in leather, resembling some designer name brand that likely went for a fortune in department stores. As for the purse on the right, that was done up in pastel pink fabric and shaped like a heart. Had a long strap to boot. Perfect for the couple.

Scooping both purses up, Alva took the time to slip her purse over her arm. Handing the other purse over to Laura, she accepted the gift with glee. Stringing it across her chest, it made her that much cuter. Which was all that mattered to Alva right now, reaching out to her wife's hand. Laura let her grab hold, the couple making quick time to the door. Opening it up, they slipped through.

Outside, the hallway leading to the elevators stared back. Relatively plain and simple, little time was spent admiring it. Rude. Someone no doubt spent a bunch of time getting it looking right for visitors and here these two digimon were, ignoring it in favor of rushing to the place where they could go down to the next set. In this case, that took the form of an elevator. Relatively empty for what was bound to be the busiest area of the entire hotel room, Alva and Laura didn't mind. Reaching out for the button, it was Laura who got to it first. Tapping it lightly, the pair took a step back. While the chances that someone would come out of the elevator were relatively low, it was not zero. All the more reason to air on the side of cau-

Before I could finish that sentence, the elevator doors opened up and an elderly man walked out. Paying no mind to the couple, that didn't stop Alva from staring at him for a couple seconds. Closing her eyes for just a moment, the hotel hallway was replaced by a tube in the middle of a laboratory. Scientists were moving back and forth, one of which holding a cat carrier… for some reason that was beyond the holy knight digimon's grasp.

"Koko wa doko? (Where am I?)" she thought and attempted to stare down. All that accomplished was her head being forced forward. Forced to watch on as the scientists acted like this was somehow normal and humane (it wasn't), feelings of anger and rage bubbled to the surface. How dare these monsters think that they could just get away with this without any in the way of consequences? That someone wouldn't notice and raise an alarm for her disappearance. Someone had to have connected the dots and realiz-

Alva didn't get the chance to finish that thought, a slight shake being enough to wake her from the nightmare she had accidentally slipped into. Eyes forced open, the holy knight digimon found herself still standing in front of the elevator. Laura now stood in front of her, cradling her hand to the best of her abilities.

"Nani ka mondai ga arimasu ka? (Is something wrong, dear?)" Laura cooed as the pair stepped into the still open elevator. Stopping once inside, Alva met her wife's gaze.

"Un. Watashi wa kimyōna yume o mimashita [sore ga sōdatta to omoimasu]… chūbu no naka ni tojikome rareru to iu akumudeshita. (Yeah. I had this weird dream [I think it was that]… a nightmare that I was trapped in a tube.)" Alva explained as she pressed the button for the ground floor. Not even looking to see the elevator doors close, her gaze shifted back to her wife. "Soreha... Amarini mo riaruda to kanjimashita. (It felt… too real.)"

Feeling her hand get squeezed, a slight relief echoed across the holy knight digimon's body. Squeezing back, she could only hope that the same feeling was carried through into her wife. Even if it wasn't, there were other ways to show that she cared. Shoving that thought away, Alva caught a smile from her wife.

"Kanōsei no han'i kara wa denai to omoimasu. Seikaku ni dono yō ni shite roiyarunaitsu ni kuwawatta no ka sae omoidasemasen. (I guess it isn't out of the realm of possibility. I can't even recall how exactly we joined the Royal Knights.)" Laura added and watched her wife freeze. Of all the things to forget, that felt like the worst thing to have happened to her. Closing her eyes, she did her best to recall. All it accomplished was showing her a picture of an old tv fuzz. In color, no less. Opening her eyes back up, she met Alva's gaze. "Mada nani mo arimasen. Anata wa dōdesu ka? (Still nothing. How about you?)"

Alva looked away. Muttering something at the elevator floor, her gaze shifted back up to her wife. A part of her wanted to lie here of all places and come up with a story that worked perfectly for this situation. Sadly, nothing came to mind that would feasibly work.

"Kisū. Watashi mo omoidasemasen. (Odd. I can't remember either.)" Alva muttered as the elevator stopped. Watching the doors open up, the couple stepped out with a sense of grace.

Unlike the hotel hallway where they had stepped into the elevator, the hotel lobby was rather large and spacious. Few in the way of digimon though. Even at the rate they were returning to the Human World, it would be years, if not decades before the population was at least equivalent. Which wasn't accounting for global events devastating the entire world and or any other mess that could possibly occur in that large amount of time. Nonetheless, the holy knight digimon reached out to her wife's hand. Giving it a light squeeze, the couple headed for the door out to Japan proper. Didn't stop their gazes from scanning for any possible threats. Finding none, their gazes returned to each other.

"Koko de kon'nani piripiri suru no wa hendesu ka? (Is it weird to feel so on edge here?)" Laura inquired and Alva shook her head. They were on the home turf of their former enemies, perfectly normal.

"Mattaku nai. (Not at all.)" Alva answered as they exited the hotel. Outside, everything looked right. The sky was a bright shade of blue, the sun was shining and tourists were doing their best to get to their destinations. "Yappari watashitachiha roiyarunaitsuna ndesu. Mochiron darekaga jū o ransha surudarouga (We're Royal Knights, after all. Of course there is going to be someone gunn-)"

The holy knight digimon didn't get a chance to finish her statement, a fireball collided with her side. Doing little to her suit, Alva still stopped. Looking around for the source of the fireball, she didn't need to look far.

A Fla Wizarmon stood proudly atop a nearby building, eyes directly on the pair. Jumping down from their high point, they got ready to let forth another barrage.

Dejitaraizu obu Souru! (Digitize of Soul!)

Letting for a couple green energy beams, it was quite easy to snipe this strange threat out of the sky. Watching them land, the couple closed the distance. Waiting a moment for their opponent to land, they were met with a middle finger. Of course they were. What else could they do with their hands at this point that wasn't any stupider than that?

"Naze koko de makeikusa o sentaku suru koto ni nesshin'na no ka oshietekudasai. (Care to tell us why you're keen on picking a losing fight here?)" Laura inquired and leaned forward. The middle finger remained up, almost in the hopes that it would actually accomplish something and not make them look even more stupid than they had been a couple moments before.

"Kono sekai ni shi o motarashita kaibutsu-tachi yo, shine! (Die monsters, for the deaths you've caused to this world!)" Fla Wizarmon announced and Alva rolled her eyes. Of course that was the default greeting gone for here.

"Meikūmon no konran - chū ni jūmin o koroshimashita ka? (Did you kill any citizens during that whole Meicoomon mess?)" Laura asked and got a shrug from her wife. Not in a dismissive way, more of an 'all I did was fight the chosen children and commit property damage' sort of way. A massive difference here that needed to be understood and acknowledged for the sake of this conversation.

"Sō wa omoemasen… sukunakutomo chokusetsuteki ni wa? Orudinemon no shutsugen ni yori arawareta gunzei wa machigainaku ki ― (I don't believe so… directly at least? The armies that showed due to Ordinemon's appearance no doubt ki-)" Alva started, only to be treated to a slap from Fla Wizarmon. Tempted as she was to headbutt them back, it would do little good in the situation. No, best to keep her cool.

"Uso-tsuki. Orudinemon no kiru wa anata no kiru demo arimasu! Watashitachi ga ushinatta hitobito no tsugunai o shite kudasai! (Liar. Ordinemon's kills are your kills as well! Pay for those we lost!)" her opponent announced, Alva taking the opportunity to keep the annoying digimon an arm's length away. While helpful, that didn't change the fact they had someone more than intent on kicking their asses for the slightest misfortune thrown their way was cause for concern. There was no telling who else might want to kill her and Laura here.

"Kore wa DA 03 no hito-tachi no koroshi-yada to omoimasu ka? (Do you think this is some hitman from those DA03 people?)" Alva whispered and Laura looked away. While it wasn't out of the realm of possibilities, this didn't feel like their kind of MO. Or however you're supposed to pronounce that particular phrase. Words are hard, okay?

"Watashi wa sore o utagau. Kore wa mushiro urami o motta akutō dejimon no yōna ki ga shimasu. (I doubt it. This feels more like a rogue digimon with a grudge.)" Laura answered, watching Fla Wizarmon continue to flail about in the vain hope that he would somehow get free. In turn, Alva's grip tightened on her target. Wouldn't want them getting away because she didn't hold on as tight as this body allowed. "Sōdesu ka? (Is that the case?)"

Fla Wizarmon raised their middle finger once more. Trying to aim it at either Royal Knight, they failed in the process.

"Sōdattara dō narudeshou ka? (What if it is?)" Fla Wizarmon announced and was treated to a pair of looks from his captors. Very much not amused at the moment, that didn't change the fact they would need to deal with this behavior until the fire wizard digimon decided they had gotten their fair share of the fun. However long that might take.

"Sōdesune, anata o DA 03 ni makasete mo īdeshou. (Well, we could just hand you off to be dealt with by DA03.)" Alva announced and watched Fla Wizarmon gulp. Middle finger finally coming back down, they muttered something to the ground. Then it's back to staring at their captors.

"Sore igai wa nani demo! (Anything but that!)" Fla Wizarmon announced and watched their captors look at each other. Then it's back over to them. Very much planning to go through with it regardless, perhaps a deal could be struck in their favor.

"Wakatta. Soredewa, anata o dōsureba īdeshou ka? (Okay. Then what should we do with you then?)" Laura answered and watched their captive gulp. Why did they have to be the one to decide the punishment? Couldn't they figure that out themselves?

"Wakaranai? Watashi no tsuitachi o sugosa sete kudasai, soshite watashitachiha tada furi o suru dakedesu - (I don't know? Let me go about my day and we just prete-)" Fla Wizarmon announced, Alva doing just that. Taking a couple steps back for good measure, her wife did the same. Just to be on the safe side, of course. Wouldn't want this to end up like some kind of twisted trap and have to deal with the consequences for that stupid action. Instead, the pair was treated to their opponent booking it to the best of their abilities.

Looking at each other, a sigh escaped the couple's lips. By no means the way they were expecting to start their day, it would serve as a good warm-up for anyone else dumb enough to think that they could just take on two Royal Knights and somehow win. Shoving that thought out, the couple headed off once more.

"Ano hiroba o mita nochi, chotto shokuji o shita hō ga īdeshou. (After we see that plaza, we should probably get a bite to eat.)" Laura announced, just catching a nod and smile from her wife. Turning her attention ahead, the process of rebuilding was in full swing after the mess with Ogudomon and all the evil digimon that she had brought forth with the intention of creating chaos (the force, not the person). Now, it was up to the people to fix it. While they were doing a good job, the threat of yet another attack on the horizon was likely to create new problems. Problems once thought of as impossible, now on the cusp of boiling over into worse issues. Not something worth thinking about right now. No, this is supposed to be a happy moment in the couple's life. Now if the rest of the world would get that message, things would be all good.

"Tokuni ikitai basho wa arimasu ka? (Any particular place you want to go?)" Alva inquired and Laura brought a hand to her chin. Taking a moment to think it over, nothing was really coming to mind beyond… breakfast. It didn't particularly matter what form it took, just that she and Alva got it at a decent time. Which wasn't to say that her standards were low and/or up for anything. She had the bare minimum of standards. The same could hopefully be said of her wife. If not, it wasn't the end of the world (hopefully).

"Amari? (Not really?)" Laura answered as she reached out to Alva's hand. Grabbing hold, Alva squeezed back. Feeling quite good, her gaze returned to the path ahead. Met with construction, someone had gone through the trouble of setting up an alternate route. "Kore ga dareka ni yoru wanadenai koto o inorimasu. (Hopefully this isn't someone's attempt at a trap.)"

Alva nodded.

"E ̄. Korede wa yahari watashitachiha hiroba de orosa reru hazuda. (Eh. This should drop us out at the plaza all the same.)" Alva answered, ignoring the nod from her wife. Making the turn, the couple took the time to look for any possible assailants. Finding none of the sort, they cautiously entered the detour. Relatively cramped for one, they didn't mind. That was just part of the charm of these kinds of things. Though, they were probably the only ones who thought that. Just one more thing that set them apa-

A large chunk of rubble from a building cut off that particular thought. Landing right in front of the couple, their gazes shifted up to the building roof. While relatively limited in what it could show, the couple could just make out a man. Very clearly not happy to see them, that was almost to be expected here.

"Etto… mizu ni gareki o otosanai kamo? (Uh… maybe not drop rubble without looking?)" Laura announced, her words falling upon deaf ears. Figures. Of course the height difference would prevent the message from coming through. Even if it hadn't, would the other side of the conversation even listen to what she or her wife had to say? Most likely not. That was just their luck today.

"Dare ga anata no yōna nezumi o kenkyūshitsu kara oidashita nodesu ka? (Who let rats like you out of the labs?)" the mysterious rubble tosser announced and the couple froze. Why did that phrase sound so familiar? No one other than that strange person had shouted such a phrase their way before this point. Yet, it was worth investigating. If nothing else, she could get a step closer to understanding what the heck was being brought by their honeymoon. If not, then maybe this would be a good stepping stone to that point.

"Wakarimasenga, soreha yaminoshihaisha no seidesu. (I don't know, blame the dark masters for that.)" Alva announced and made her ouryuken appear. Pointing it in the general direction of the rubble thrower, all that accomplished was more rubble being thrown down. Narrowly avoiding the couple, Laura made a shield appear. Holding it up above her head, it would serve as a good defense against any stray rocks intent on braining her. While a touch overkill, it was a necessary evil. Brain damage is no joke, after all. Nor should it be used as a punchline for one.

"Yokumo son'na koto o mochidasu nda na. Watashi jishin ga soko ni itte anata ni taisho suru hitsuyō ga arimasu! (How dare you bring them up. I'll just have to come down there and deal with you myself!)" the rubble thrower announced and inched up to the roof's edge. Walking right off, the rubble thrower plummeted to their death with an unsatisfying splat. Making their weapons disappear, the couple took a step back.

"Kore o ittai dō yatte tōkyoku ni setsumei suru tsumorina nodarou ka? `Darekaga watashitachi o karakai, sono kōtan ni mukatte aruki satta?' Soreha bakagete iru yō ni kikoemasu. (How the heck are we going to explain this to the authorities? 'Some guy taunted us and then walked off to the edge?' That sounds ridiculous.)" Alva muttered and felt Laura set a hand on her back. So much for reaching their destination in a timely manner. Of course this sort of thing had to happen. Tempted as she was to reach out and maybe touch the body to find something, that wasn't in their best interests. No, they needed to find someone to actually call the police and in turn, report what had happened. If anyone was willing to let them use their phone in the first place. Secondly, there was the matter of them being believed. They were foreigners and some people no doubt thought they were strangely dressed cosplayers. Honestly, I wouldn't blame them for thinking that way. Hopefully, someone would be willing to look past those facts. "Shikata ga nai. Nanika o kangaete mimasu. (Oh well. We'll figure something out.)"

Laura nodded in agreement. By no means the way they expected their honeymoon to start, they could salvage this… hopefully.
