Chapter 10: Coming Home for Christmas

The rest of the half of the term came to a close and Julian was busy closing his bag that had everything that he needed for his return to Gotham. Professor Flitwick told them that they didn't need to take their trunks with them when they headed back home. Julian wouldn't be taking the train back to London, he would be taken home by Fate. Most of the students that were leaving was going to be sent to the train by another means because the lake was frozen solid.

Once he was back at Wayne Manor his father ruffled his hair while Alfred took his bag up to his room.

"Where's Hedwig?" he asked Julius

"Back at the school," Julius told him. "I didn't think that she would want to come back with me."

"Alfred made you a snack," Bruce told him.

"Great," he said and he followed his father into the dining room.

Julius told his father everything that had happened at school and he told Julius that he had heard what had happened at school. Thankfully no mention of the Howler came up in the conversation.

"Draco thinks that Fudge is trying to control things," Julius told him. "And I'm going to agree with that."

"Zatanna thinks that Fudge doesn't want to believe that there's a chance that Voldemort was only weakened and not gone."

"After that headache that I got, and how Dumbledore looked at Quirrell, I'm going to agree."

"Headache?" his father asked, confused.

Julius told him what had happened during his first Defense class. This got a worried look from his father and he knew how much his dad worried about him. Ever since he defeated Voldemort the first time.

"I think that you should take some lessons from Constantine," Bruce told him.

"Are you sure," Julius asked, knowing how much his father didn't really care for the occultist.

"This is serious," he said. "And I believe that Constantine would be good to learn a bit from."

"I'll write to him," Julius promised. "So what happened while I was gone?"

"Nothing much," his father said. "Saved the world a couple of times."

"Aliens or Luthor?"

"Aliens," his father answered.

"So Lex is taking time off from being a moron," Julius said.

There were other words that he could use for the bald-headed moron, but he didn't want Alfred to wash his mouth out with soap.

"Clark believes that the only reason that Lex hasn't started anything, lately, is that he's planning something."

"I'm going to agree with that," Julius said. "I don't trust Lex as far as I can throw him."

Lex might not be close to as bad as Voldemort, but he was still evil.

"I also have some news," his father said.

"The good or the bad?" Julius asked him.

"The good," his father replied.

Now Julius was really all ears. Anything that happened to his father affected him.

"I'm getting married?"

"Human or plant?" Julius asked him.

"Human, this time," his father said and Julius really hoped so.

The last time that his father had gotten 'married' was when Julius was five and it was one of Poison Ivy's creations. Thank Merlin that no one brought up that, hardly.

"What's her name and does she know about, you know."

The magic, that's what Julius was wondering.

"Oh she knows all about the magic," his father said. "It's Barbara Gordon."

Julius got excited. Barbara was one of his favorite people. Well next to Wonder Woman, but they were more like friends.

"Have you already asked her?"

"Yes and she accepted," his father said. "We are getting married in May."

Enough time for him to ask the Headmaster if he could take a break from study and go to the wedding.

"If I get a sibling out of this. I really hope that he, or she, doesn't have as much of a messed up life as I've had."

Because having some psycho wizard with an inferiority complex, that killed scores of people, would be enough to mess up anyone's life.

"Let's hope so too," his father said. "Because I don't think that I can take another 'adventure' into the Wizarding World."

When his future Stepmother arrived she brought her father. Jim Gordon was a nice man, and he and his father worked together, but he could tell that Jim wasn't all too thrilled about his daughter marrying Bruce Wayne. Of course he really doubted that Jim would make a scene. That was for Two-Face or the Joker to do.

"I don't want to replace your mother."

"Barbara, I didn't know her," Julius said. "So don't worry, you're not replacing anyone."

"Glad to hear."

Julius spend most of the Christmas having fun with Bruce's new ward, Tim Drake. He had come from a bad place and both boys hit it off. Of course he had to steal Dick Grayson's old Robin costume and almost got himself killed. Julius wasn't too happy when Tim came back. Christmas was spent at the Hall of Justice. Everyone that was anyone was there. Taking a break from fighting aliens or their local villains.

All the women had to see Barbara's new finger addition, as Hawkwoman called it, for themselves. It wasn't that large of a rock and Julius thought the whole thing was blow out of proportion.

"Don't worry, son, your time will come."

"God, I hope if it does that she's not surrounded by a large amount of women."

Everyone got something for Christmas. For Julius it was things from his wizard friends. Hermione had gotten him a book on animagi, or wizards that could turn into animals. It included the full process to become one. Draco had gotten him a pair of earmuffs that would block out snoring as well as any 'noise' that might be dangerous to his hearing, Neville got him a book on advance plants, Snape, for some unknown reason, got him a book on Potions. He got a present from Fate, a globe that allowed him to see anywhere that he wanted.

"To keep you from getting too homesick," Fate told him.

"Thanks," Julius said.

There was one last gift under the tree and it was for Julius. He took it and sat down. He noticed a note on the top and opened it.

James Potter left this in my possession. Due to the rule of inheritance this belongs to you. I know that you will use it far better than Harry Potter could of.

He looked at everyone, but everyone either had no clue what the note meant or was giving him a puzzled look. He opened it and found what looked like a huge block of cloth. It looked really nice and felt like touching water. He stood up and the cloth came tumbling down.

"What the hell is that?" Green Lantern asked.

"I don't know," Julius said and when he put it on he found that his whole body had vanished.

"It's a cloak of invisibility," Fate told him. "No one, not even Voldemort, will be able to see you with it."

"Amazing and the Potter family had it," Wonder Woman said.

"James Potter handed it over to the Headmaster," Fate said. "By their laws he has the right to hand it over if a descendent of the oldest son of the original owner is found. That would be Julius."

"Not a bad gift," The Flash said.

"Do you think that James is going to find out what Dumbledore did."

"There isn't anything that can be done," Fate told Bruce. "The law is the law."

"Well I'm going to keep it at the manor," Julius told them. "There's no way that I'm letting the Potter's know that I have something they thought they owned."

"Sounds like a good idea to me."

They had a huge Christmas feast and Julius put away his thoughts of returning back to school. As much as he loved Hogwarts he loved it here as well. The next morning Alfred told him that Bruce, as Batman, had been called away to Russia.

"For what reason?" Julius asked him.

"I have no idea, Master Julius."

He really hoped that his father was careful.

A/N: So now Julius has the cloak, which James will find out Dumbledore no longer has. Next up: Julius returned to school and starts learning from Constantine.
