Here's the next chapter.
Guest - WHAT!? I'm unimaginative! Well, your just…you're…you…you're unimaginative! Ha! Bet you didn't see that coming! Huh? What do you mean that they're not going to read this. Does anybody read these replies?
Djinn - Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it. I think Monoma may have something to say about Lewis hanging about with the 1B girls, hopefully Lewis can endure. Hope you'll enjoy the next chapter.
Neo Infinity - Thanks so much. Sorry for the late update. I'm trying my best to ignore the date of my last upload [Sweat drops]. I always felt that Pony, since she enjoys manga so much, would pick up the subtle signs of a harem romcom. Setsuna, on the other hand, likes to talk a big game, but gets embarrassed once you break through her shell. I should probably have Pony be the main driving force for Lewis' harem for her enjoyment.I can't wait to write more about her. Thanks for reading.
Foxfire573 - Creo que tienes razón. Pony parece el tipo de persona que haría eso. Gracias por leer.
wellingtonlucas282 - No problem, I'm happy that you enjoyed it.
spedyalarm - Let's ask Lewis, shall we?
Lewis: T-the girls in their…pyjamas!? [Blushes and looks away] They're just items of clothing…It's inappropriate to think of them like that.
Victor: Err…there's blood coming from your mouth.
Lewis: …That's normal.
Victor: No it isn't! Okay, moving on, Momo why were you embarrassed about the photo?l
Momo: Because it showed me in my swimming costume!
Victor: But it showed less than you're her costume?
Momo: That's different!
Victor: What!? How!?
Looks like I'm not going to get straight answer from either of them. Thank you so much for reading.
Scoolio- Nope! Otherwise, his ego will inflate tremendously.
FanSuperAnime - Thank you so much, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Yeah, the criticism can be harsh (I mean look at the first Guest review), but I I try my best to ignore them, no matter how insane they are. However, it is readers, like yourself, that really encourages me to write and I really appreciate from the bottom of my heart. That's why I love replying to reviews.
On another note, good work with the Alice In Wonderland theme. Most of Lewis' character (like his name and where he lived) are inspired by the book and its author. It's rather fun coming up with little secret references.
Thanks so much for everything and I hope you will enjoy the next chapter.
Caligbolt - It would take some planning, but yes, I'm sure he could. I'm still trying to find a way to apply it to everyday life.
Guest - Ooo! That would be cool! We'll have to see.
Josephplayz303 - Here you go. Sorry for the wait.
Kenrio- I guess it is the best I can back in the day. Some of my early work isn't as great. Thanks for reading anyway.
Guest - Hello Guest! Thank you so much, you're too kind. Secondly, I haven't thought of doing one because…[whispers]…I never watched Naruto before. I know right, at least 90% of fanfic on this site involves Naruto and I only know hardly anything about. However, I did the same thing with One Piece. I watched it, got obsessed with it and now writing another story based on it. So you never know. I'm happy to hear that you like how I write my OCs, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for all the reviews :)
Chapter 34: Training Camp
U.A Shuttle Bus Terminal
Lewis yawned and rubbed his face to relieve some tiredness from his body.
He didn't mind early mornings, but trying to organise over a dozen excited teenagers onto a bus alongside Iida and Momo was not an easy task. Especially, since their teacher decided to take a nap instead of helping. However, he couldn't blame his classmates for being excited; he was as well. After everything that had happened at I-Island, it would be nice to some normal highschool activities and hanging out with his friends.
They had gathered outside the shuttle bus terminal at the back of the main building; they were all lined up and ready to get onto the bus… but they were held up by one person.
"…a hand drill," Lewis sighed as he took out the tool from Mineta's bag and held it up so Momo can jot it down in her notes, "Why do you need this?"
The shorter boy ignored his and Iida's accusatory glare and looked away, "I thought it would be useful…in case we need to make a raft or something for a camp activity."
"Rejected," Lewis muttered as he threw it into the confiscated pile at their feet.
"What about this? Night vision goggles?" Iida questioned as he picked up the piece of equipment out of the bag.
"In case we're walking in the dark."
"Rejected," he firmly said as he placed in on the confiscated pile.
It was Lewis' turn once again, "A balaclava and black ninja outfit?"
"You can't prove that's mine! Someone must have planted it!"
"It's exactly your size and nobody in this class is as big as a six year old. Rejected," he declared throwing in onto the pile.
"Oh come on!"
The rest of the class watched on with various looks of disgust. They had expected something like this from Mineta, but not to this extent. It seemed like there were more equipment used to spy on the girls then there were of actual essential items. Sero, whilst keeping his eyes on them, leaned over to Kirishima beside him.
"We're going to be arriving at camp at night at this rate," he whispered, "You think we can go on ahead?"
Kirishima shook his head, "Nah! We'll probably be here while Class 1B leaves."
"Can you explain this, Monoma?"
They heard the rough voice of Class 1B's homeroom teacher behind them and turned around to see what was happening. Vlad King glared down at his student with his hands on his hips while Kendo held up a rucksack and a packet of greyish dust in her other hand. Monoma sweat nervously as he looked from his rucksack in Kendo's hand to Vlad King. The rest of Class 1B watched on in disappointment.
"I've never seen that packet of itching powder in my life. Someone from Class 1A must have planted it," he told them.
"How do you know it's itching powder then," Kendo questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"…well."
"Rejected," Vlad King said, making him squawk in disbelief.
Setsuna rolled her eyes at him, "Really, Monoma. Are you elementary school or something?"
"Nice to know there's weirdos in both classes, huh?" Sero hummed, earning a nod from Kirishima.
Meanwhile, as Lewis was taking yet another piece of equipment out of Mineta's bag, he saw Aizawa walk up to them with his yellow sleeping bag draped over his shoulder. Lewis assumed that he had woken up just to tell them to hurry up and get on the bus already, but he was intrigued when he saw him wave his hand as if calling him over.
"Fleetwood, come with me," he sighed tiredly as he walked away.
Lewis blinked in surprise before he handed Iida Mineta's bag, "I'll be back."
"Of course, I'll continue the inspection," he promised before he looked down at the rucksack, "Huh? Stitches? Mineta did you sow something inside the lining of the bag!?"
"Damn it!"
Lewis followed his teacher over to the side of the terminal and stopped in front of him with a curious look, "Sir, is this about I-Island?"
"It isn't," Aizawa muttered, "And don't worry about that. The media preferred to cover the actual attack and All Might's fight than what you did," he told him, much to his relief, "What I was going to ask is it you've got the things I told you to get."
"Oh yeah," he said before he flicked his hands and made a blindfold, earphones and a pair of nose plugs appear, "I've got them right here. What do I need them for?"
"They're for you. You're going to be wearing them for the entire journey there."
Lewis blinked in surprise, "Excuse me?"
"I read the report you gave to the police in I-Island," he told him, "You were able to escape your captors by making your equipment appear despite not knowing where you were. That's when I realised something, you've been practising using your quirk to places you've never been before, but you haven't been doing the opposite. If you've been captured again and don't have time to pull off what you did back on I-Island then you'd be dead, Fleetwood. So, on this trip, you will not know where the location of the camp is; so no seeing, hearing or even smelling until I say so. Then, once we get there, the real training begins. Understand?"
Lewis frowned slightly at this. Personally, he didn't really like the sound of that.
"Doesn't that sound a little extreme. I mean, we already don't know where the camp is."
Aizawa sighed and glanced around the area as if checking to see if anybody was listening in, "Look, this isn't coming from me and you better not tell anybody or else I'll expel you on the spot. Ever since the the incident at the shopping mall where a member of League held Midoryia hostage-"
"Ha! Something I wasn't involved in," Lewis interrupted happily, "You see I'm not that much of a nuisance."
…
…
…
"…I'm really sorry. Please continue, sir."
Aizawa rolled his eyes, "As I was saying, ever since that incident, the Hero Commission has breathing down on our necks on U.A's safety. Principal Nezu has been particularly targeted."
"But that's not his fault," Lewis said, "It's not even U.A's fault. It didn't even happen on school ground."
"Doesn't matter to them. All they want is their backs to be covered and for somebody to do something. And one of the things they're concerned about is the summer camp…and you, Fleetwood."
Lewis took a step back in shock, "Me? But I-"
"It isn't personal. It's just your quirk is convenient for spying that's all. And you have gained quite a lot of attention in a short space of time," he told him, making him sigh sadly, "I know you won't do anything and so does Nezu and every teacher in U.A. But the Hero Commission won't take any risks. If they had it their way, they won't even allow you on the trip, but I and Nezu managed to convince them. Which is why…" he tapped the blindfold, "…you need to wear this. Sorry, this is the best we can do."
Lewis looked down at the equipment with a small frown, 'I guess it could be worse,' he thought before he looked up at his teacher, "Right. Thank you, sir."
"No problem," Aizawa grumbled before he began to walk away.
"So, does the school reimburse me for the equipment or-"
"Yeah, just sign a form and we'll pay you back," he called back with a lazy wave.
"What form?" he asked as he began to follow him, "Sir, what form!?"
Bus
"Hey Neko-chan, over here!" Mina called out as soon as she spotted Lewis enter the packed bus. He saw that she was pointing to an empty space right beside her on the third row on the left; Toru and Ochako sat in the seats behind while Shoko and Aoyama sat in the seats on the other side, "Saved you a spot right here!"
Lewis smiled thankfully and sat next to her, "Thanks Mina. That's kind of you."
"No problem," she told him brightly.
It was actually quite a problem to arrange all of this. It took some planning, a few bribes in the form of sweets and chocolate and a number of long thought-out estimations of when to enter the queue onto the bus, but she managed to do it. If she had put this much effort into their Finals then she would have probably passed with flying colours. She was now going to spend the entire journey to camp with him at her side. This was the first time they actually spent time together since the shopping trip; their schedules never matched up, they were too busy training or studying and then the incident at I-Island happened. However they now have that chance; a long bus trip together was the perfect opportunity.
"This is going to be fun," Mina chirped as she rummaged through her rucksack, "I have games, snacks, we can listen to music and I have some extra pillows in case you want to- ack!" she suddenly cried. She had just looked up in time to see Lewis tie a blindfold around his eyes and reach for his headphones, "Err…what are you doing?"
Lewis sighed miserably and turned his head to her, "I'm sorry, Mina. I would love to that, but Mr. Aizawa says I need to wear a blindfold and headphones for the entire journey. It's for my quirk."
"Damn it, Aizawa!" Mina yelled angrily as she clenched her fists tightly.
From the seat at the front, Aizawa whipped his head around and glared at her intensely, "You got something to say, Ashido?"
Mina shrunk under his glare, "N-nothing," she uttered with a gulp. As soon as his head turned back, she sighed and leaned forward in defeat, "Aww, but I wanted to spend time with you," she pouted miserably,
"Well, I'll still be here," he told with a reassuring smile, "And we can try our best to play some of the games. Just tap on the shoulder if you want to talk to me."
"I guess," she hummed before she smiled brightly, "I can also feed you snacks myself. How does that sound?"
Lewis frowned slightly, "I mean…" he hesitated slightly. He was about to say that she could simply put the snack in his hand and he can feed himself, but stopped himself before he could make that mistake, "Sure, sounds great!"
Mina smiled happily at that, took out a packet of pocky sticks and held it up to his mouth, "Okay! Open up," she said with a small blush.
He blushed as well as he opened his mouth and allowed her to put it in his mouth, chewing contently on the chocolate biscuit. She giggled as she watched him eat before she felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Hey Mina, can I have one?" Toru asked over the seat.
"Me too," Ochako chimed in.
"Sure," Mina said as she placed a pocky stick in each other their mouths like she did with Lewis.
"Me too, please," Mineta said, suddenly appearing in the aisle next to their seats, "Can I have one?"
Mina immediately put the pack into her rucksack, "Sorry, all run out."
"There were only three sticks in there!"
Before Mineta could continue to complain, the class attention was caught by a sudden arrival. Kendo stepped onto the bus with a thoughtful expression on her face and gave them a small, polite wave to them.
"Hey guys, don't mind me. I'm joining you on your trip," she told them.
Lewis, recognising the voice, turned towards the front, "Kendo? Is that you? Shouldn't you be with your own class?"
Kendo was about to reply, but Aizawa stood up and stepped in front of her, "No questions," he sternly told them, "There's not enough seats for everybody in Class 1B so Kendo volunteered to go with us," he turned his tired eyes onto her, "You can sit at the front."
"Right," Kendo said before she took her seat.
"Huh? That's weird," Ochako murmured, "They look like the same type of buses so there should be enough room."
Mina shrugged, "Ah well, it's not like we're going to different places. So why not?"
Lewis hummed suspiciously, 'That is weird. Maybe it has something to do with our training,' he felt Aizawa's piercing glare on him and instantly put on his soundproof headphones, 'Fine, I'm putting them on.'
A couple of hours later and the bus had left Musutafu and was heading through the countryside towards the mountains. The students were either talking to each other, playing games or simply watching the scenery as the past by. Shoko glanced over at Lewis and Mina in the seats beside her and frowned slightly when she saw her feeding Lewis another sweet and, despite having a blindfold and earphones, he did his best to respond to her with thanks. She looked down at the food her sister packed for her; she had a bottle of water, a few rice crackers and a thermos filled with soba. She briefly pondered if soba was an appropriate meal to give to someone on a bus when she head a groan of pain from next to her. Shoko turned to Aoyama who looked very pale; sweat was pouring down his face, he held his stomach with his hands and he had a sickly look as he stared down at his feet. He looked like he did when he overused his quirk, but somehow it seemed different.
"Are you feeling alright, Aoyama?" she asked calmly.
"J-just fine, m-madame," he groaned wearily, "Just…feeling a petit…unwell."
"Oh. Would you like me to get you Aizawa? Or Fleetwood?"
"Non, merci," he moaned as he began to shake, "I get a little…car sick, that's all. It will pass."
Shoko gave him an unsure look, "Are you sure, you don't want some water or something to eat…or maybe you would like to lie down on the seat…"
"A lie down," he repeated shakily, "That's sound tres bon."
She stood up and immediately Aoyama rested his head on her seat, hugging his stomach tightly and closed his eyes tightly. Shoko looked down at before she realised she was standing in the middle of the aisle and should probably take a seat before she was thrown off her feet by a sharp turn. She tried to find somewhere to sit before she saw Lewis next to her. For a second, she recalled a scene almost like the one she was in on an episode of that romcom that Fuyumi likes to watch. She tilted her head curiously, considering if this was appropriate before she shrugged and tapped Lewis on the shoulder, catching his attention so he could pull the headphone off his ear.
"It's only me," Shoko calmly told, "Don't panic."
He and Mina frowned in confusion.
"Panic about wh-"
And that was all about he managed to say before she sat on his lap. Lewis was confused for a few seconds at what was happening before his mind finally connected the dots; as soon as he did, his face blushed bright red. Mina, on the other hand, gawked in disbelief.
"Shoko! What are you doing!?" she gasped.
The stoic girl looked down at her and titled her her head, "Aoyama is feeling unwell so he wanted to lie down on the seats. Since I don't have any other place to sit, I chose the best alternative."
'Damn,' Mina thought, 'I don't know what's worse. Her upstaging me or me not having the idea first,' she looked towards the front of the bus and saw Aizawa not too far away, "Mr. Aizawa! Is there another seat for Shoko that she can use?" she asked, only to see him not responding to her shouts, "He's asleep, isn't he?" she sighed.
She leaned past Shoko and gave Aoyama a sweet smile, "Hey, Aoyama. How you feeling over there?"
"Not…great, mon ami," he mumbled.
"Aww, I'm sorry to hear that," she cooed, "Would you like some paracetamol or ibuprofen or pain killers or a soda or a snack or literally anything to make you feel better?"
"Some rest…will do," he muttered, much to her disappointment.
The bus suddenly swerved tightly around the corner and Shoko, caught by surprise, almost fell of Lewis' lap. However, Lewis felt the shift and automatically reached out and held onto her waist to keep her steady; Shoko looked down and blinked as he felt the warm arms hug her from behind and felt her face heat up a little. A ghost of smile appeared on her face as she gently held onto his hands that were resting on her stomach. Mina, seeing this, bowed her head and gave a mournful sigh before she stuck out her hand for Shoko to shake.
"What's this?" the stoic girl asked.
"Game recognise game," Mina told her.
"Huh?"
'Don't have a nose bleed. Don't have a nose bleed,' Lewis chanted in his head, 'Don't have a nose bleed. Please don't have a nose bleed.
Countryside
More hours have passed since their departure and the bus had taken them through the pleasant green lands and around the high mountain roads as they wound its way through the beautiful scenery. It had been a long time since they've seen a town or village or even a motorway petrol station and now all they passed was forest after forest after forest; trees so thick and dense situated in the deep mountain valleys that it was like looking at long green river underneath them.
However, Lewis was completely unaware of any of this; the only thing he knew was that he was somewhere not at U.A and it had taken a long time to get there. Aoyama was feeling better and so Shoko had returned to her seat (although a little reluctantly) so his only indication that he was still in the bus with his classmates was Mina feeding him sweets ever so often.
However, he finally felt the bus pull to a stop and the constant vibration of the engine stop suddenly. He frowned curiously before he felt his headphones removed from of his ears.
"Okay. All of you get out. We're stopping here," Aizawa ordered tiredly as he tucked Lewis' headphones into his pocket.
He heard the sound of people clambering out of their seats and took it as his cue to stand up; he blindly stepped into the aisle of the bus, only to be almost knocked off his feet by somebody running by. Luckily, Mina had grabbed onto his shoulder to keep him steady.
"Hey Mineta!" she cried out as the short boy ran past and off the bus, "Be careful! You almost knocked him over."
"Gotta pee! Gotta pee! Gotta pee!" was all he yelled out as he desperately tried to find a bathroom.
Mina kindly helped lead him down the aisle and down the steps of the bus which he really appreciated. The last thing he needed was to be injured before he got there. Unaware to Lewis, the bus had stopped a motorway rest zone where vehicles, who have been travelling a long way, could stop for break. It overlooked the mountain valley with a mountain forest stretched out below them. Te rest zone was completely deserted other then their bus and another car parked not too far away. The students stood and looked around in confusion as they wondered what they were doing here. This was definitely not the camp nor was there a petrol station where the bus can refuel. They turned to their teacher for answers.
"Hey, what's going on?" Kirishima questioned.
"I wonder where my class are?" Kendo mused, still not too sure why she was here.
"B-b-bathroom?" Mineta squeaked desperately.
Aizawa sighed and stuck his hands into his pockets, "To say there's no ulterior motive would be a lie," he muttered, to their confusion.
Before they could ask for a clarification, the doors to the car swung open and two people stepped out of the vehicle. They were two women who looked to be their late twenties. The first was had brownish red short hair in a bob cut, fair skin and brown eyes; she wore an interesting costume which consisted of a short red skirt, a red and white sleeveless jacket that showed off her midriff, a headset which resembled cat ears and a long red tail that protruded from the back of her skirt. She also had red markings over her face which looked like whiskers and a pair of oversized white gloves which looked like cat paws. The other woman had long blond hair which spiked up at the back and hung over her face, fair skin, bright blue eyes and a slim body. Her costume resembled the first woman's but it was blue instead of red and her tail was white with blue stripes on it; over her face and covering her eyes was a clear visor. They stepped out of the car and smiled happily at them.
"Hey Erasure, it's been a while," the first woman said before she leapt into the air and spun around dramatically, "Your feline fantasies are here!" she announced as she posed.
"Strikingly cute and cat-like!" the other woman joined in as she spun and posed before like her colleague.
"Wild Wild Pussycats!" they proclaimed before them as they struck their pose, "…half version."
The students stared at them in stunned silence, not quite sure how to process…whatever just happened. However, Lewis gasped in joy and began to shake in excitement.
"Cats!" he cried out, "There are cats here! Where! Let me see them!"
"Oh no, it's better then that, Fleetwood," Midoryia told him, his eyes wide in excitement at seeing a new pro-heroes, "There one of the four hero teams that founded the union affairs office! They specialise in mountain rescue operations and providing essential care to places effected by storms or natural disasters!"
"…so there are no cats?"
"Nope, they just dressed like that."
"Aww," Lewis moaned as he slumped forward in disappointment. Shoko patted his back comfortingly, trying her best to cheer him up, "I wanted to see a cat."
Midoryia gave him a sheepish smile before he turned back to the other students, "They are hero veterans with at least twelve years experience in the field! Isn't that awes-"
"I'M EIGHTEEN AT HEART!" the blond woman yelled as she clamped her paw glove to shut him up.
"Thank you, Midoryia," sighed Aizawa with a roll of his eyes, "They're all yours, Mandalay."
"Thanks Aizawa," the brown haired woman, now named Mandalay, said before she pointed to the forest below, "This entire area is privately owned land that's owned by us. And over there…" she pinpointed a building at the foot of the mountain across the the valley, "Is where you will be staying."
"Huh? So far away," Ochako mumbled, "Why did we stop if we haven't-"
She trailed off as realisation settled upon the students. Ever since they arrived at U,A, they had learned the hard way that their training is tough. Tougher then their wildest imagination could conjure up. And so, because of that, they had come to notice when something was going to happen to them; something that would probably cause them pain. Which is why they all suddenly decided that they should probably get back on the bus.
"Hey," Sero gulped as he took a step back, "Why don't we leave now."
Mandalay, seeing them about to retreat, grinned wickedly, "It's nine thirty right now," she told them, "If you hurry then you probably get there by about twelve."
"Oh crap!" Mina cried.
"To the bus hurry!" Kirishima yelled as they all began to charge to safety and escape their doom…
…but it was too late.
"I'm sorry everyone," Aizawa sighed as he stepped to the side and pulled a confused Lewis back by the collar, "But your school trip…has already started. Pixie Bob."
"I've got it," the blond woman, now known as Pixie Bob, leapt in front of them and slammed her hands down on the ground.
Suddenly, the ground began to shift and move beneath them before it ruptured into a massive tidal wave of dirt, sweeping them off their feet and throwing them of the cliff. They screamed in terror as they were swept by the sudden landslide, falling down the valley before landing on a soft pile of dirt; completely unharmed, but shook up by what had just happened. Every single student had been thrown off the cliff and into the forest…except for Lewis who was stood beside Aizawa and trying his best to work out what the hell was going on.
"What the!" Lewis yelled out in shock.
At the sound of the ground exploding and the screams of his classmates, he reached for his blindfold in order to take it off, but his teacher stopped him before he could.
"I told you not to take it off until I say so," he grumbled.
"But sir-" he began to complain, but he felt his capture tape wrap around his shoulders and pull him away to somewhere.
"Come on. You still need to get to where you need to go," he muttered before he called over his shoulder, "Mandalay, Pixie Bob! I'll leaving it to you, okay!?"
"Sure thing," Mandalay chirped back brightly.
"Leave it to us!" Pixie Bob laughed as she pumped her fists in the air, "Let's see what these kittens are made off when they go against my terrifying beasts!"
"Beasts!?" Lewis cried out in shock before Aizawa dragged him back onto the bus.
Edge Of The Forest
This time, the journey was far shorter, but he didn't notice. Lewis was too occupied on worrying about what happened to his classmates. He was sure they were fine, it's not as if they'll kill them or anything, but the point remained. He was led by Aizawa off the bus and through the forest; fair to say that his teacher wasn't as caring as Mina as he had almost tripped a few times. Eventually, he heard the sound of excited chatter up ahead, recognising a few voices amongst them.
Vlad King watched over his students with a stern look before hearing the sound of Aizawa and Lewis approaching, turning his head over to them with a serious look, "Ah, you're here. Good we can finally start."
"Sorry for the delay," Aizawa sighed as he pushed Lewis forwards a little.
"Huh? What's Fleetwood doing here? Tetsutetsu muttered as the class took notice of them, "And why is he wearing a blindfold?"
"Oh great," Kuroiro muttered bitterly.
Shiozaki hummed thoughtfully, "Has this to do with Kendo's sudden absence."
"Of course, it is," Monoma declared dramatically, "This is Class 1A's ploy. Stealing Kendo away and replacing it with him. It's so simple, but effective!"
"…Yeah, but why would they do that?" a chubby boy with pale blue hair asked him.
Monoma hesitated slightly before he rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "…I'm sure there's a reason."
"There is a reason," Vlad King grumbled, silencing his class in a second, "It's because Fleetwood is going to be part of your training on getting to camp."
"He is!?"
"I am?" Lewis questioned, completely caught off guard, "I wasn't told this," he told Aizawa, only to get silence in reply, "He's already gone, isn't he?"
Vlad King cleared to gain their attention, "I and your teachers have been observing you and your progress over these past months and we can clearly see how much you rely on Kendo for help. She's your first point of call for work, you ask her for homework advise and tips to improve your fighting skills. She is an essential asset in your class and it clearly shows. Which is why we have to take her away from you. In the pro-hero world, you work with and for many heroes with different sets of skills and experiences. You're not always going to be a class after you graduate. You need to spread your wings, cooperate and communicate with others in order to accomplish tasks and save lives. Therefore, your task today is to complete the following: bring Fleetwood to camp safe and sound," he told them, taking them by surprise, "As you can see, Fleetwood is wearing a blindfold as in unable to use his quirk. You will lead him through the forest, find the camp on the other side of the valley and deliver him to it whilst overcoming obstacles and challengers on the way. Failure to do so will mean no food for tonight."
"Doesn't seem to hard," murmured a boy with black hair tied in a braid, "With the use of our quirks, we'll probably get there by mid-day."
Vlad King raised an eyebrow, "That's the thing. Fleetwood will be your team leader and you will have to take orders from him if you need to do anything."
"What! No way!" Monoma cried out in dismay, sickened by the fact that he had to take orders from somebody in Class A, "How is he suppose to give orders without knowing where he is?"
"With communication and team work," their teacher told them, "You will be his eyes and he will give you instructions. Is that clear?"
The blond haired boy blinked in surprise before a smirk appeared icon his face, "Who to say that we can't do things ourselves," he whispered deviously to his classmates, "We can just pretend that we're taking his orders when we're actually doing something else."
Vlad King gave him a stern look, "You will be closely monitored from afar. Failure in communicating with Fleetwood would mean an automatic fail."
Monoma slumped forwards in disappointment, earning an eye roll from his classmates. Lewis, however, looked in the direction of the teacher and called out to him.
"Err…Vlad King. If I'm here. Then what is Kendo doing over at my class?" he asked.
Vlad King paused for a few seconds before replying, "Let's just say that it's something similar to what we're doing here."
In Another Part Of The Forest
"Right, here's what we're going to- Huh?" Kendo and Momo said at the same time, making them look at each other in surprise.
"Oh, sorry," Kendo apologised earnestly, "This is your class. You can give the instructions."
"Oh no, but you're our guest. Please go first," Momo insisted sheepishly.
"I feel uncomfortable to do so since I don't know any of you."
"It's really no bother at all. After you."
"No, after you."
"No, after you."
'Can either of you stop and please do something,' Class 1A thought miserably as they watched the two out-polite each other.
Back With Class 1B
"Oh, okay," Lewis uttered, a little confused by what he meant.
Vlad King gave a firm nod before he began to walk away, "You lot better get going if you want to get to camp by lunch. Good luck," he gruffly said before he stop and looked over his shoulder, "Oh, a word of warning, obstacles and the terrain will not be the only thing stopping you. Make sure to watch out for other dangers," he warned before he marched off out of sight.
An awkward silence fell over them as they waited for somebody to take charge. The class, although some a reluctantly, turned to Lewis expectingly. The hero in training frowned at the scenario he was thrown into, not liking the fact the he was the centre of attention.
'Come on,' he thought to himself, 'They are depending on you to take charge. You can do this,' he decided before he looked up at them, "Right. First things first. My name is Lewis Fleetwood. My quirk is called Disappear and it allows me to teleport around as long as nobody is looking at me. However, I can only do it if I know where I am or know where I am going which is why I'm pretty much stuck here. I don't know all of you nor do I know your quirks. So the best cause of action is for me to get as much information from you as possible. Let's go down the class register and tell me your names and your quirks. As much detail about them as possible, please. Let's start with the person in seat one."
"That would me," said a boy with spiky black hair pulled up by a bandana, "My name's Yosetsu Awase, nice to meet you. My quirk is called Weld. I can basically weld stuff together. Even to my own body…I don't know how that could be handy though for this exercise."
"We'll think of something," Lewis reassured him.
Up next was another boy with blackish brown shaggy hair and dark eyes, "I'm Sen Kibara," he sighed, rubbing the back of his head, "and my quirk is called Gyrate. I can make any part of my body spin fast."
"Good for offensive attacks," Lewis mumbled thoughtfully.
"Togaru Kamakiri," muttered the next student. He was a tall, intimidating boy with a green mohawk and a face that resembled a praying mantis with sharp mandibles on either side of his face, "And I rip stuff to shreds."
"I'm sorry?"
"He's quirk is called Razor Sharp," Kibara helpfully told him, "He can produced blades from his body."
"Hey! Did I give you permission to tell him that!" Kamakiri shouted, glaring at him with his sharp eyes, "I'll kick your ass, you little punk!"
"Take it easy, man. I was just trying to be helpful," Kibara said, backing away with his hands.
Lewis smiled at the exchange, "I see you've got your own Bakugo, huh?"
"WHO THE HELL YOU CALLING BAKUGO! I'M 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THAT SHRIMP!"
"Yep, that sound like something Bakugo would say," Lewis said with a nod while Kamakiri growled, stuck his hands pockets and backed away, muttering curses at him, "Who's next in the class register?"
All eyes turned to the black skinned boy in the class. His tutted in annoyance, shoved his hands into his pockets and looked away in disinterest. He was about to tell him to 'go to hell' but Komori trotted over to him and tapped his shoulder.
"Hey Kuroire. It's your turn," she whispered to him, causing him to blush at the contact.
He coughed to clear his throat before muttering, "Shihai Kuroire. My quirk's called Black. I can merge my body into anything black."
"Oh cool," Lewis said, "That would be pretty good for stealth missions. How long can you stay-"
"You should move on. We don't have all day," he grumbled bitterly.
"Oh…right. Who's next?"
"Me."
Lewis yelped in surprise as Kodai spoke up right next to him. He didn't even hear her move.
"Kodai…did you have to do that?"
"Do what?" she answered plainly, although he could detect a hint of mischief in her tone.
"Never mind," he sighed, "I remember your quirk allowing you to change the size of objects. That could be useful."
"Then it's us, Fleetwood," Komori happily said as she made her way up to him, much to Kuroire's annoyance, "Oh sorry, it's Komori and Shiozaki."
"Good day to you," Shiozaki kindly greeted.
"Hello again. Your quirks are Mushroom and Vines, right?" he asked, earning a positive response from them, "Good, who's next?"
"A pleasure to meet you, Fleetwood. My name is Jurota Shisida. My quirk allows me to transform into a strong beast," a tall boy, who was covered in thick brown fur, had sharp teeth and wore glasses, informed him.
"My name is Nirengeki Shoda. Vice Class president," greeted the short boy from earlier, "My quirk is called Twin Impact. Basically, if I hit a target then I can remotely hit it again, even at a distance. The second impact will be much stronger than the last one."
"Pony Tsunotori!" Pony greeted, "My quirk is called Horn Cannon. I can shoot…horns from…head."
"Hi, my name is Kosei Tsuburaba," said another boy with brown hair with oval shaped eyes and pupils, "My quirk is called Solid Air. I can create walls with the air I breath out. They're not that strong, but I'm trying to improve them."
"Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu!" roared the silver haired student, "If you need stuff crushed them come to me! With my steel skin, nothing will stand in my way!"
"Hey, it's Setsuna here. I can split my body up a few times which means we can-"
"Moving on," Lewis urgently said.
"Aww, come on. I didn't even say anything," Setsuna teased.
"My name is Manga Fukidashi," greeted a boy with a word bubble for a head as he shook a Lewis by the hand enthusiastically, "Can't wait to work with you. My quirk allows me to make onomatopoeia appear in real life like a comic book. So if you need a 'zing!' or a 'Wallop!' or a 'BOOM!' then I'm your guy!"
"Juzo Honenuki. I can soften any non-living thing I touch," explained a grey haired boy with oval shaped eyes and a lipless mouth, revealing his teeth, "I can also swim though the things I soften as well. I can probably swim underneath any obstacles in our way just by me softening the ground I'm standing on."
"Kojiro Bondo," said a large boy nervously said, her had waxy yellow skin and head the head of a glue dispenser with seven eyeholes on the front of it, "I-I-I can stick stuff together with the glue I produce. It's pretty gross, I admit."
"As if, I'm going to tell you," Monoma sighed, crossing his arms over his chest and smirking proudly at him, "Who knows what sort of advantage you can gain over us with that knowledge. If you want to know then you will have to admit that Class B is far superior to the cockroaches in your class!"
"…Monoma…I know you can copy other people's quirks. I saw you do it at the Sports Festival. Don't you remember?"
…
…
…
Monoma sweat dropped with a sheepish expression on his face, "Haha! I was tricking you. I wasn't using my real quirk back then."
'You absolute liar,' Lewis thought with a sigh.
"It's…err…it's me, Yanagi," the spooky girl hesitantly greeted, "I can move things around with my quirk. I can only managed a couple things at a time and there's a limit to how much weight I can carry."
"And I'm Hiryu Rin," greeted the boy with the braided hair, he had an unusual accent in his speech which may imply that that he was born abroad and raised in Japan, "and my quirk is called Scales. I can sprout scales over my skin and, if I try really hard, I can shoot them out like bullets, They're good for defensive and attack."
"Great!" Lewis said as the entire class finally introduced themselves, "It's good to finally meet you all," he told them before he hummed thoughtfully, "Let's see…we need to know where we're going first. How big is the forest we're in?"
"It's huge," Bondo told him as he twiddled his large fingers together, "I was watching it from the window of the coach. It'll probably be impossible to find our way without a map or GPS."
"Then we need a couple of scouts," he told them, "Setsuna, Honenuki, since your quirks allow you to avoid obstacles, can you go ahead and find any sort of trail of sign of the camp."
"Sure can do," Setsuna agreed.
"Yeah sure," Honenuki said with a nod.
"Now my second concern is getting past any natural features. Rivers, ditches, fallen trees. Anything can get in our path," he said, "Kodai, Shiozaki, Bondo, Awase and Kodai. I can think of a few ways your quirks can be useful in that. You will be the trailblazer team," he told them, making them nod in understanding, "Thirdly, Vlad King warned us about any potential threats. Kaibara, Kamakiri, Shishida and Tetsutetsu you will be short range attack team while Pony and arena will be our long distance attack team," he told them, earning a enthusiastic yell from the silver haired teen, "Finally, we need a defence team to help protect the attack teams. They will be Kuroiro, Komori, Shoda, Tsubaraba and Fukidashi."
"Wait a moment," Monoma cried out, "What the hell am I doing then!? Everybody else has been put in a team except for me!"
Lewis turned his head to him, "well, I thought that, since your quirk is so adaptable, then you can switch teams when you want. If one team needs help then you can aid them. You're like the queen piece on a chessboard, you are able to do any sort of job."
Monoma blinked blankly at him before a smug look appeared on his face, "Ha! Of course. You naturally admitted how great my quirk. Probably greater than any of Class A's quirks all out together. Finally, you're making sense," he put closed his eyes, put his hands on his hips and pushed out his chest proudly, "Just call me the queen of Class B!"
Everyone sweat dropped at that.
'Does he even hear himself?' they all thought at the same time.
Lewis cleared his throat to gain their attention, "Look, I know that our classes are pretty divided and we don't usually have the time to spend time with each other, but I would love that we all work together during our time at U.A and grow stronger until and after we finally become heroes. Obviously, you have no reason to rely on me, however, I count on all of you, even those who I just met, to get through this challenge and make it to camp, because I want all of us to succeed. So, let's do our best and get to the goal by lunchtime. Whose with me!?" he questioned, really hoping that they wouldn't turn him down.
Luckily, Tetsutetsu lend him a hand.
"Hell yeah!" he yelled as he pumped his fists in the air, "Let's go and do this! We'll get you through to the end, Cheer-wood!"
Lewis slumped slightly in despair, "Do you mind now calling me-"
"Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood!" he began to chant until, one by one, the entire class was chanting his nickname louder and louder, "Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood! Cheer-wood!"
He sighed and rolled his eyes, "Whatever."
Somewhere In The Forest
"Meow! The kittens haven't made their move yet," said a cheerful female voice, "What do you think should we attack them now?"
"Not yet," a masculine voice grumbled back in reply, "Let them get to the river and we trap them there."
"If you say so, meow!"
The first part was the worst so far. They had waited half an hour for Setsuna and Honenuki to return and tell them which direction they needed to go in. Once they had returned, orientated them in the right direction and left to scout for more, they headed on out. It took a while for them to get used to the terrain; navigating through the thick trees, stepping over mud plains and avoiding wild animals were by far the biggest problems they faced.
However, Lewis made sure their moral raised and providing them ways of getting over obstacles in order for them to keep on going. He even insisted that everybody took frequent breaks ever so often. Lewis was thankful that Tetsutetsu was on his side, the boy's enthusiasm and confidence was infectious and it spread through the class like a wildfire.
"Tetsutetsu," Lewis told him as Manga helped led him through the forest, "In ten minutes, we'll stop for another break. So, if you guys have anything to eat then here's your chance."
"Alright!" the steel boy yelled enthusiastically at his side before he turned to his class, "You hear that, guys! We're going to rest in ten minutes! Then we're going to push on through to camp! Oh yeah!" he proclaimed as his pumped his fist in the air, earning joyful shouts in return.
"Nice work with Tetsutetsu," Manga complimented, a thumbs up sigh appearing on his head.
"Thanks. If he's anything like Kirishima back in my class then I know he'll be good for moral," Lewis responded, "So, what were you saying about your powers?"
"Oh yeah," he happily chirped, "So, I can do things like attack or block and stuff like that. Which is awesome, but I don't really know what else to do with it, you know? I keep coming with more onomatopoeia, but nothing seems relevant to evacuating civilians or settling disputes."
"I'm sure there are some ways," he reassured him, "I'm setting up a club next semester where people can learn skills not associated to hero work. Everybody is welcome so if you like to come, then you're more than welcome."
"Awesome. I'll be there," Manga said happily.
It was at this point, that Pony trotted over and took Lewis' other arm, "My turn Manga…thank you," she happily said.
"Okay. Make sure to not walk him into any trees."
"That only happened once!" Rin shouted in protest, overhearing their conversation.
Manga laughed and patted Lewis' shoulder, "See you later," he said before he left him with Pony.
The shorter girl gripped on his hand and kept her eyes to the ground, "Hey Lewis, how's it going?" she asked in English, "Having fun yet."
"Great," he chuckled before he hummed thoughtfully, "No sign of the dangers that Vlad King warned us about. We should be more alert."
"I guess," she said before a bright smile appeared on her, "Anyway, this is a good opportunity to talk to you about something."
"What's that?"
Pony giggled, "You're harem, obviously."
Lewis tripped over his own feet, but managed to catch himself at the last moment.
"W-what!?" he uttered in shock.
"I told you a few days ago. You're the perfect candidate for a harem protagonist so I'm going make one for you," she told him, much to his disbelief, "Now my favourites in the run are Todoroki and possibly Kodai. You like Kuudere, right? Ha! What am I saying? Everybody does. So, if you start dating one of them and manage to convince them to take in another girl then that create an opening-"
"Wait! Hold on!" he exclaimed, "Why would you want me to do that? I can't two time my girlfriend…if I had one."
"Not with that attitude, you won't," Pony remarked, "In fact, it's that attitude that's going to be a problem. I think the term is 'Herbivore'. You're a total Herbivore. It's not a bad thing, per se, but it does get tiring. You need to be more of a 'carnivore' and take control. Otherwise, it's going to drag on and on and on and it's going to get boring."
"I have no idea what you are talking about?"
"Gosh darn it, Lewis. Do I have to spell it out for you? The girls in your class like you."
Lewis felt his mind go blank, his brain turning fuzzy like a television without a signal, "They…do?"
"Well, not all of them," she said with hum, "You hadn't managed to ensnare that brunette and the frog girl..."
"Ensnare? I don't think I ensnare people?"
"…but the rest of them do. Oh, and some of the girls in my class as well. Komori, Kendo, Setsuna, yeah, they all like you. I've been watching you guys since the Sports Festival. It's been very entertaining," she said, earning a sweat drop from Lewis, "However, I want it to progress it more. Develop it something before it's too late."
"But I-"
"Lewis," Pony sternly said, catching him off guard, "Are you seriously going to deny having a harem?"
Lewis thought about it a for a second, "Well…I don't like the term harem. It makes me sound like own them and be like some sort of pervert. And I definitely don't want to do that…however…" he thought of all the girls in his life, remembering how they made him feel and whether he would be willing to date all of them, "…I don't want to upset anyone. All of them are my friends who I trust and I would love to date any of them if they want to. Whoever it is, I make sure to make them as happy as possible and be the best boyfriend I can be. If it's multiple people then I have to be sure to love all of them equally and make sure they care for each other…kind of like a family. I…just don't think that it is possible, especially since we're still training to be heroes."
Pony squeezed his arm gently, "Lewis…that's exactly the type of wishy-washy bull crap I'm talking about," she kindly told him, making face fault, "Just trust in me, okay? I'll be sure to guide you."
"I haven't said I want to. We'll…see what happens, okay?," he pointed out, "but what about you? What's your angle in all of this? This is really weird to offer something to somebody."
Pony grinned, "Oh, that's simple, really. I like to read a lot of harem manga, but some of them are just plain bad. But now I have an opportunity to create my own real life manga right in front of me. That I can mould and shape as I please and make it far superior then anything. It's the difference between watching football on T.V and playing it, you know. Much more exciting."
"…so, what you're saying is that you're doing this because it's fun."
"Yep," Pony chirped.
"I feel like I should be offended by all of this.
"This is why you're such a herbivore. But we'll work on it, okay?"
Lewis sighed before he and Pony felt them sink into the ground slightly, making them take a step back in shock. The dirt ground seemed to ripple and turn as if it was made of water on mud. Suddenly, Honeuki's head popped out of it and looked up at them.
"Sorry for surprising you guys," he said, "But we have a problem up ahead."
The class stood on the stony banks of rushing river cutting through the forest from east to west. Lewis expected something like this; being in a valley in between the mountains is likely to have a few rivers dotted around, but he wasn't expecting it to complete cross their paths. He listened as the water bubble and splashed pass before he turned to his two scouts.
"How wide is it?"
"Very. At least 20 meters," Honenuki answered, "And deep as well. So swimming across it won't do."
"Is there away around it?"
Setsuna shook her head, "Afraid not. Camp is a mile away on the other side. I checked up and down it, but the nearest crossing is about five miles away."
"We can't do that either," Lewis sighed, hearing the sighs and grunts of the students, "We're all exhausted enough. We can't let them go through all that," he muttered thoughtfully.
"Then what are we going to do?" Pony said sadly.
"Oh dear," Monoma smirked as she slid up beside Lewis, "Looks like our leader, who was forced unto us, had hit a snag! Not so great now, are you!?"
"This is neither the time of the place, Monoma," Honenuki told him in annoyance.
Lewis stepped forwards and griped his fists together, "We're not done yet," he told them before he turned to the class, "We're going to build a bridge across it."
"HUH!?" they all cried out in surprise.
"You're kidding?"
"How are we supposed to do that. We've got no tools or materials."
"We've got everything we need here," Lewis told them with a bright smile, "Trailblazer team. This is where you come in."
"Us?" Shiozaki said with a puzzled frown.
"Precisely," he said as he reached down and felt the ground beneath him. His hand brushed against a single pebble and he picked it up and held it out, "Kodai, can you increase the size of the pebble to a boulder."
"Sure," she blandly said, taking the pebble from him.
"Great. We need two for every five meters. One boulder on either side of the bridge," he instructed, "Bondo, I need you and a few volunteers to find as many stickers and twigs as possible and glue them together in a bundle. I say the need to a meter wide and five meters in length."
"Y-yeah, of course."
"Awase use your quirk to weld each other these bundles to the boulders Kodai is making. These will be the legs that the bridge is going to rest on as we cross it," he explained, earning a nod from Awase, "Shiozaki, I know it is a lot to ask for, but I need you to grow as much vines as possible. They need to attach to each other these legs and serve as the footpath across. Do you think you can do that?"
"I shall try," Shiozaki hummed, "If I stay in the glorious sunshine and make them in bundles then I can achieve it."
"Thank you," he kindly told her, "We're so close. Camp is just on the other side and we're going to cross it, but I need everybody's help. We need people to help place the legs and find enough sticks for Bondo. I'll try to do my best to help as I am now," he turned towards Setsuna and Honenuki, "Guys, I need you to stay on look out. This will be a perfect time for an ambush so stay on alert."
"Aye aye," Setsuna agreed with a toothy grin and a lazy salute.
"I'll do my best," Honenuki said with a nod.
"Great. Let's do this everyone," he proclaimed, earning a round of cheers from the other students.
They instantly set to work, some of the class went and helped Bondo; others helped plan where to put the boulders; while the last few people were keeping a lookout in case an enemy comes and attacks them. All the while, Shiozaki began to grow her long vine hair in preparation for the construction. Lewis did his best to instruct them all; if they had any questions or advise on what to do, he would come up with an idea to help solve it.
A little while later and the bridge was just about half way done. Manga and Tsuburaba were trying up another bundle of twigs that was waiting for Bondo to glue together when they noticed Monoma and Kuroire standing together off to the side. They were keeping to the shade of a nearby tree, leaning against its trunk as they glared at Lewis who was talking to Pony. The boys shared a look before they sighed.
"Should we?" Manga asked.
"Yeah," Tsuburaba agreed before the headed over to their classmates, "Monoma! Kuroiro! What are you doing? Aren't you helping?" he asked as soon as they got close enough.
"Help?" the blond scoffed, "As if I would help him with his silly plan?"
Kuroiro tsked in annoyance before he went back to his glaring.
"Aw, come on now," Manga enthusiastically said as he pumped his fist in the air, "That's not the right attitude! We're all in this together! And Fleetwood's a good guy! I know one when I see one!"
"He's deceiving you. He may pull the wool over all your eyes, but he won't do it to me. I know who he truly is."
Tsuburaba raised an eyebrow, "Are you talking about the rumours about him after the Hero Killer thing? Come on, Monoma. You can't listen to everything you read on the internet."
"Oh not that," the blond calmly replied as he pushed himself away from the tree and stood with his back to them, "I know who he really is. Something that the media and the teachers have not picked up. He's been playing innocent for all this time, but I've been watching him since the Sports Festival and I now know what his true intentions are," he turned dramatically to them with a serious look, "He's building a harem with our classmates."
….
….
….
….
"Really?" all three boys said at the same time, even Kuroiro doubted what he was saying.
"Of course. It make sense," Monoma said with a maniacal grin, "He's playing cool so the girls will get friendly with him; they start inviting him to lunch, go on shopping dates and next thing you know he would be fully dating them and gain all the popularity. He's biding his time to strike. One by one, he will ensnare every single girl he comes across. First his class and then from our class and then our entire year and then the entire female population of our school will fall in to his nice guy routine. That has to be the reason."
"No…not Komori…" Kuroiro said, his eyes widened in shock.
…
…
…
"…o-or Kodai or Kendo or Shiozaki or Pony or Yanagi," he nervously stammered.
'Just admit that you like her, dude,' Tsuburaba and Manga thought.
Monoma chuckled and stalked his way towards Lewis, "I'm going to uncover his deception right this second. I will stand for this no longer!"
They watched him leave; already feeling how awkward this was going to be for them. Manga sighed and turned to Tsuburaba with a question mark on his face.
"You really think Fleetwood the type of guy who can, as Monoma say, 'ensnare' a girl?"
"Nah, of course not."
Meanwhile, Monoma marched over towards Lewis and Pony, determination evident in his eyes, 'This will show him. I will not let him make a fool of Class B!' he thought as he coughed to grab his attention, "Hello Fleetwood," he spat, "You're reign over us is coming to a-"
"Oh Monoma," Lewis said, recognising his voice, "Perfect timing. Awase needs help with the welding so do you mind helping him out?"
The blond faltered slightly, his face red in anger, "I'm not going to do that, you fool!"
"Oh sorry," Lewis earnestly apologised, taken slightly back by his outburst, "If you don't think you can do it then I won't force you…"
Monoma's eye twitched.
"…I just thought your quirk would be useful in this situation…"
Monoma's other eye twitched.
"…you're definitely much more useful then me right now. So, you can do whatever you want," he kindly told him.
The blond stared at him for a few seconds before he twirled around and marched towards where Awase was on the bridge, "I'll show you how useful my quirk is! Finally, you're starting to see reason and admit that our class is better than yours!" he boasted, "Our class can build a bridge four times faster than your class can so just watch me!" he declared as ran off to help.
"Oh…okay, then."
Over to the side, Manga, Tsuburaba and Kuroiro face palmed.
"He's way too easy," Manga muttered.
"Should have expected it."
Kuroiro growled in anger and marched towards Lewis as well, making the two boys looks at him in confusion.
"Kuroiro, now you as well."
"I'm just going to talk to him," he muttered before he darkly thought, 'You've pestered me enough, Fleetwood. You're not good enough for Komori and I'll be damned if I let you get your hands on her. I just have to unleash the dark forces that rest in my soul and set them on you,' he decided with a smirk. He approached Lewis from the back and tsked in anger to catch his attention. Lewis turned around at the noise and raised an eyebrow, "Hey Fleetwood, I want to tell you someth-"
"Pony, your time is up. It's my turn to look after Fleetwood."
Kuriro froze in shock as the voice and turned to see Komori, of all people, making her way over to them with a small wave. Pony said her thanks and trotted away to help somebody while Komori stood beside Lewis and tapped his shoulder.
"H-hi Fleetwood. I'm here now."
"Thanks Komori. I'll leave my safety in your care," he said, earning a giggle from her. He then turned his head back to Kuriro, "Sorry, what we're you saying? You said you wanted to tell me something?"
The dark student gulped as he glanced from Komori and then back to him nervously, a bead of sweat pouring down his face at the unexpected arrival of his crush. Eventually, he coughed and looked away.
"I-I-I just wanted to say…that the skies are clear. No chance of rain."
"Oh, thanks," Lewis said in mild surprise, "That's good to hear. That's the last thing we want right now."
"I agree," Komori chirped while Kuroiro physically slumped in despair.
"Coward," Tsubaraba and Manga thought.
"Fleetwood!" they all jumped at as an urgent shout rang out through the forest. They turned and saw the flying head of Setsuna fall towards them and into Lewis' arms. She was slightly bruised and her breathing was deep as if she had just escaped from an attack, "they ambushed us," she quickly said, her playful tone replaced with fear, "They got Honenuki. I escaped just in time."
"Who did!" Lewis demanded as the rest of the Class listened in, "Who attacked you?"
Setsuna's eyes suddenly widened in shock, "Them! Behind you!"
The class snapped their heads around, just in time to see two figures posing on top of a nearby hill. One was a young woman with long green hair, fair skin and wide, round yellow eyes. She grinned enthusiastically down at them as if what they were doing was the most exciting thing, raising her arms and scratching the air like she was cat. The other was a much taller and more broader man with a muscular physique with short brown hair and black markings around his narrow white eyes. The two wore similar costumes to Mandalay and Pixie Bob earlier; with the woman having a bright yellow costume, headset and tail while the man had a brown version with a greyish headset and a brown, golden and white tipped tail. They leapt down from the hill and twirled around dramatically.
"Allow us to lend a helping paw!" the green haired woman declared as she twirled around.
"We're champions serving up justice!" the man growled, his posing being much more intimidating than cute.
"Wild Wild Pussycats!" they proclaimed as they posed together, "…half version."
"Eh!? A woman and a pervert!?" Kamakiri cried out in shock.
"Who the hell you calling a pervert, you bastard!" the man shouted at him.
Lewis, however, whipped his head around frantically, "Cat!? Are there cats here!? Can I see them!?"
"No, they're just people dressed as cats," Komori told him, causing him to slump forwards.
"When are there going to be cats in this forest!" he moaned, "I'm tired of these tricks!"
"Fleetwood," Setsuna's voice broke him out of his stupor, "They're the ones that attacked us. They're the ones that Vlad King warned us about!"
The green haired woman giggled as swiped her paw gloves in the air, "That's right! My name is Ragdoll and this is Tiger! We're your camp councillors for the summer, but, right now…" she pointed at them and grinned happily, "We're here to completely annihilate you, cute kittens!" she declared with a laugh, making them all take a step back in surprise. She moved her finger towards Tetsutetsu and Honenuki, "Those are the first ones, Tiger. Take them out!"
"Roger that," Tiger growled before he launched at the two.
"What the!" Tetsutetsu cried out as he saw Tiger flying towards him.
He grunted in pain as his large fists punched him in the stomach before he could turn his body into steel, sending him flying back. The hero then flipped forwards and sprang back at Shishida and kicked him right on his side; taking one of the strongest students in Class B down in a single hit. He was much agile then they were expecting him to be.
"Damn it! Tetsutetsu and Shishida's been taken down!" Kaibara yelled in shock.
Tiger smirked and glared at the class with deadly intent, "I thought your teacher warned you about us? I'm not holding back any punches. If you're truly Plus Ultra then you'll come at me with all you got. Unless you want to give up and handover our target."
Kamakiri growled and ran towards him, two long, sharp blades coming out of his thin arms and ready to strike, "You scumbag! I'll kill you!"
"Wait stop!" Lewis shouted at him, but it was too late.
Kamakiri leapt at Tiger and swiped his blade arms towards him…only for the hero to bend backwards at a near impossible angle and dodged them both. The student's eyes widened in shock as hits missed only to yell as Tiger's arm twisted backwards and up and punched him in the jaw, knocking him off his feet. He spotted his next target, which happened to be Kaibara, and twisted his body around like a coiled spring and launched at him. Kaibara, taken by surprise, raised his arms up in front of him and began to spin them rapidly like a drill in order to protect himself. However; it was in vain as Tiger broke through his defence easily, knocking him out.
"That's the big hitters gone," Tiger growled before he pointed at Lewis, "You're next."
Pliabody; it allows him to stretch, flatten, and bend his body in ways that would normally be impossible
"He's got them as well!" Tsubaraba exclaimed.
"Damn it," Lewis muttered before calling out to the students, "get to the bridge and behind me everyone! Tsubaraba create a defensive wall around us!"
"Right!" he agreed.
Once everybody had ran behind Lewis, Tsubaraba took a deep breath and breathed out a solid wall of air in front of them about two meters high. He the made another one on the left and then another one on the right, boxing them in with the bridge to their back.
"Manga can you make smoke with onomatopoeia?" Lewis asked.
"Let me try," he told him before he cleared his throat, "Ahem, 'Plume' 'Plume' 'Plume'!" he chanted, creating physical onomatopoeia from his head.
The onomatopoeia floated in front of them and began to create a thick smoke that quickly filled up the box they were, concealing them from the outside and from Tiger.
"Everybody get across the bridge!" Lewis ordered, "We need to leave now."
"But it's not finished," Shoda cried.
"Well, get as far as you can," he told them. As they nervously stepped foot across the vine bride, Lewis called out to the glue-headed student "Bondo, I need you to cover the ground in front of the bridge in glue. Tsuburaba's air wall won't last long, but it will last enough for us to trap Tiger."
"R-right," he agreed.
He was about to open his head and construct a trap for the heroes…when they heard a knocking on the solid air wall. They frowned in confusion, wondering what was going on, when they heard a voice chirp from the other side.
"Hey kittens! It's me, Ragdoll, remember me from earlier," the other pro-hero laughed from the other side, "I told Tiger to hold off on the attacks for now, because I want to give you guys a chance to escape, but only for a few seconds, okay?"
"What why?" Lewis called out.
"It's more fun this way, meow!"
Manga hummed thoughtfully, "She's stalling for time so the other hero can attack us."
"Nope, nope nope," Ragdoll chirped, somehow hearing his comment, "There's no point, because I know what you guys are capable of and there's no way you're going to stand for long. I only have to use my quirk and search your next move. Clever trick with the glue trap, but all I have to tell Tiger to avoid it and we're all good."
Search: it allows her to observe and monitor up to 100 people at a time, including their location and weak points. This Quirk also stored the data it gathered in her memory.
The students flicked at the fact while Ragdoll cackled with laughter.
"Okay, kittens. You have sixty seconds before we're coming in to get you. 60…59…58…"
"Fall back," Lewis ordered as Manga and Bondo ran across the vine bridge towards the other students.
As soon as they reached the others, they turned to Lewis desperately.
"What are we going to do?" Komori asked him.
Lewis frowned in deep thought before he came up with an idea, "Alright, here's the plan."
"…4…3…2…1…ready or not, he we come!" Ragdoll cried as she twirled around on one leg.
Tiger roared and, with one strong punch, brought down the solid air wall, shattering it into pieces and dispelling the smoke that were coming from Manga's onomatopoeia. He sprinted onto the bridge and spotted, amongst the crowd of students, Lewis standing at the unfinished end with his back towards him. He was about to twist his body into a coil and spring towards him like last time, but Rin got in the way, held out his arm and fired his scales towards him. Tiger had no choice but to dodge by ducking and pressing himself flat against the vine bridge. He was about to get up when he suddenly felt several vines wrap around his waist and held him down, courtesy of Shiozaki stood to the side in deep prayer.
"Now!" Monoma yelled as he and Awase each grabbed ahold of his arm and held it down to the bride.
Their hands began to glow brightly as they began to weld his arms to the vines; with Monoma having taken Awase quirk from earlier. Bondo then leapt at his feet and stuck him down with a layer of thick glue, making sure there was enough to keep him down. Tiger pulled and struggled against his bindings, but he was stuck…for now. Seeing her colleague trapped, Ragdoll ran up to help him, but was stopped when Komori, Shoda, Kodai, Manga and Yanagi got in front of her, keeping her at bay.
"Did they take the bait," Lewis called back to them.
"They did. Now get out of here!" Monoma shouted after him, "They're after you, not us! Don't disappoint us, you Class A cretin."
Lewis nodded in understanding, "Pony are you ready?"
"Sure am," she said as she lowered her head slightly, aiming the tip of her horns at him.
She narrowed her eyes and focused before she fired both of her horns out of the top of her head; they were almost instantly replaced by a similar pair of horns which sprouted from in her head. The horns flew towards Lewis and caught him under his armpits; remotely controlling them, Pony was able to carry Lewis up by the horns and fly him over the rest of the river before dropping him off at the other bank. He stumbled forwards blindly before he took off into a sprint dead ahead. Ragdoll poked her head around and hummed thoughtfully.
"Ah, I see now. That's how you were going to let him escape, huh?" she said before a wide grin spread across her face as she laughed, "Meow! How exciting! Didn't see that coming!"
"I told we shouldn't have given them time," Tiger growled.
Ragdoll shrugged, "Aww, come on. It's not that too big of a deal. Besides, our target is still a mile away from the borders of camp and has a blindfold on. I'm sure it'll be okay."
"Hey," Manga said, "Catching her attention. You might want to use that Search quirk of yours. Fleetwood is not alone in this."
The pro hero hummed curiously before she used her quirk to track Fleetwood's movement. What she saw made her eyebrow raise in fascination.
"Ah, I see now. Meow!"
"Watch out for that branch."
"Ow!"
"And that root."
"Ah!"
"And that tree."
"Oof! Can you give your instructions a little quicker please! There's no point telling me if you're not going to tell where they are."
"Fine. Watch out for that rock on your left."
"Oof! Ow!"
"I meant on my left."
"Your left is my left! We're facing the same way!"
Lewis was…well, not exactly running, but rather stumbling as fast as he could through the forest, crashing and smacking against almost everything as he went. He was not alone; Kuroiro had joined him by entering his black blindfold with only his sharp eyes appearing at the front; supposedly being Lewis' eyes as they as fast as they could to the summer camp. However, to Lewis' confusion, Kuroiro has been everything but helpful to him; in fact, he was starting to think he was enjoying his collisions.
He slowed down and stopped, after crashing into another tree, to catch his breath; bending over and putting his hands on knees as he hung his head.
"What you doing? Don't stop?" Kuroiro berated, his eyes narrowing down at him, "Those pro heroes are not too far behind us."
"Give me better directions and I'll get us there," Lewis sternly told him, "Do you know his hard this is?"
"Tsk! You should have thought that before you choose me to lead you."
"Having somebody lead me would just slow us down. It should be faster then this," he sighed as he straightened himself up, "Look, if you want us to get to camp and have a meal at the end of the day, then you have to be more specific. I don't want to let the others down."
Kuroiro snarled in anger as he thought about the others in his class. Before he arrived at U.A, he was not the most sociable person and hardly had any friends. Some of them were intimidated by how creepy he looked or the way he talked and acted due to him being one with the dark abyss. That and the fact that he was incredibly shy...they never really paid him any attention. However, his classmates were different. They actually spoke to him, trained together, invited him to study groups; they made him feel as if existed.
"Hey...it's Kuroiro, right?," he remembered the person say to him on their first day; he was sat at his desk, trying his best to not stand out, when he was caught by surprise, "Some of us are going to karaoke afterwards. Do you want come with us?"
He remembered how pretty she was; the first person to ever talk to him on purpose. Her long brown hair, her eyes with white crosses over them and the bright smile that he would never forget in his lifetime. It felt amazing. His class were the best thing to happen to him in ages.
'Damn it,' Kuroiro muttered in his head before he looked down at Lewis, "Okay, I get it. Let's go," he told him.
"Thank you," Lewis gratefully said.
"Oh fates of the endless void, why do I have to work with my rival," he sighed miserably.
"Rival? What do-"
"Fleetwood! DUCK!" Kuroiro suddenly shouted, his eyes widening in shock as he spotted something hurtling towards them.
Lewis ducked just in time as Tiger sailed over him, twisted around in the air and landed on all fours; his white eyes looked on him in determination, "Pretty smart move, trapping me like that," he grumbled as he stood to his full height, "But that way of fighting ain't Plus Ultra. Fight like men, kittens."
"Meow! That's right, right, right!" called out the voice of Ragdoll as she appeared in a tree out of nowhere, "It took me ages to get Tiger out of there!"
"I told you to not give them a chance to escape," Tiger growled up at her colleague, "They're here to be trained. Not to be coddled by us."
"Boo," Ragdoll said with a wave of her paw glove, "It's not fun if we don't at least give them some prep time. But this the last time I'm going to do that. We have to be serious now," she told them as she frowned and pouted slightly as she placed her hands on her hips; it seemed like she was trying to appear serious, but ended up making her look cute, "We're not holding back anymore. Isn't that right, Tiger?"
Tiger grunted in agreement, "We sure are. Tell me, kittens, do you know what 'Plus Ultra' means?"
"Err..." Lewis hesitated slightly, "It's a catchphrase used by All Might."
"Wrong. It's is far more than a catchphrase," Tiger said, closing his eyes and gripping his paw gloves tightly, "It's a feeling that convey the true meaning of a hero. Two words that symbolise what it means to put on a costume and defeat evil day after day after day. It encourages to go the extra mile and not to do anything half-assed, because the moment our focus shifts is the day people get hurt or be killed by the hands of the villains. That feeling is entrusted with every single student at every hero school in the world; it moulds us, shapes us, allows us to get better and be better. Which is why I can't allow you to simply walk away..." he opened his eyes and stopped when he saw that Lewis and Kuroiro were gone, "WHAT THE!?" he yelled as he snapped his head towards Ragdoll, "Ragdoll, why didn't you tell me that they left!?"
The pro hero wiped a tear from her eye and sniffed, "I didn't want to stop your speech. It was beautiful."
"Never mind that! Where did they go!?"
Ragdoll shook her head and focused on her quirk, "There not too far away; heading in that direction," she told him, pointing further into the forest, "I searched their skills. The class B student can be easily knocked out with a single punch. Once he's out then our target is helpless. Better hurry! They're close."
"Right," Tiger said as he sprinted after them.
Lewis ran as fast as he could while Kuroiro guided him. Based on what Setsuna had told them, the camp wasn't too far away. All they had to do is get there and they would have won. Kuroiro looked backwards and saw Tiger coiling his body around to spring towards him and instantly called down to him.
"Duck again! He's about to launch at you!"
Hearing this, Lewis ducked and jumped over to the side as soon as Tiger leapt at him. However the pro-hero twisted his body around and landed on his feet before he leapt forwards and reared back his fist, aiming a punch at Lewis' stomach.
"Jump back!" Kuroiro urgently ordered, "There's a tree behind you, so look out for that as well!"
Lewis immediately jumped back, narrowly avoiding the hit, and leapt back onto the tree. He pushed off it and, allowing his instincts to take over, leapt forwards and over Tiger. As soon as his feet hit the ground, he took of running forwards as fast as he can.
"Keep going straight! Jump over the root now! Watch out for the low hanging branch on your left!" Kuroiro ordered, looking back and seeing Tiger sprinting towards them again, "We're almost there! Don't stop now!"
"Okay!" Lewis called back as he sprinted even faster.
His legs were sore and his breathing was deep, but there was no way he wanted to stop right now.
"You're wasting your time, kittens!" Tiger called out to them, making Lewis flinch "You can never escape from my paws of justice! Be a man and fight me, you cowards!"
'Almost there,' Lewis thought to himself, 'He's only telling you this to get you to stop. But I'm not going to! Not for anything in the world!'
...
...
...
"...I have a cat here," Tiger called out, "You can pet him if you want?"
Lewis gasped and turned his head around, "Huh? For real?"
"OF COURSE NOT, YOU IDIOT!" Kuroiro roared at him in anger, "KEEP RUNNING!"
"R-right, sorry," he stammered as he continued to run, "You can't fool me with your mind tricks!"
Tiger roared, and once again, coiled himself into a spring and launched himself at them, "I GUESS I HAVE TO SHOW YOU WHAT PLUS ULTRA FEELS LIKE!" he yelled as he reared back his fist, "CAT PUNCH!" he cried as he swung his arm forward at Lewis' back.
"Jump now!" Kuroiro ordered.
Lewis jumped forwards and avoided the attack. But the punch landed right on his feels, rupturing the ground beneath by sheer force and throwing him off his feet. Lewis and Kuroiro fell forwards and he landed in a roll before eventually coming to a stop. The landing managed to knock Kuroiro out of his blindfold and onto the ground as well. Groaning in pain, they picked themselves up and turned upwards to where Tiger is looming over them; the pro-hero seemed to radiate a deadly aura that made them gulp in horror despite the costume he was wearing; even if Lewis can't actually see him, he still knew that he was not an enemy to take lightly.
"You really done it now, kittens," he growled threateningly, tightening his hands into tight fists.
They flinched in fear and tried to do something to fight back...
...when suddenly another voice grumbled down at them.
"Congratulations Kuroiro," Vlad King said as he reached down and pulled off Lewis' blindfold off his eyes, "You were able to deliver Fleetwood to the camp."
"What!?" Lewis and Kuroiro cried.
Lewis blinked as the sudden sunlight blinded him. Once it had died down and he put his glasses, that he had in his pocket the whole time, on his face, he saw that they had landed on the grounds of a large estate in the middle of a large forest clearing at the foot of a mountain. It was largely made of grey concrete and glass and was comprised of several buildings built together It was three stories high and had a paw symbol above the main entrance. The two boys blinked at it blankly before it finally registered.
"We made it," the uttered; Lewis smiled happily while Kuroiro stared in disbelief.
Vlad King grunted and nodded his head, "Well done, you were able to get through the forest through active communication and team work. Your classmates will be proud," he told them sternly before they stepped around them and headed to the forest, "Speaking of which, I will retrieve them now. Go inside and relax for now."
"Damn it!" Tiger cried, falling onto his hands and knees as he started punching the ground, "I was so close! If I only I had been more Plus Ultra!"
Ragdoll skipped out of the forest behind him and giggled happily, "Aww, that's a shame. Don't worry Tiger. We've got the whole week to get back at them!" she cheered as she waved her hands in the air.
The two boys got onto the feet; Lewis chuckled and rubbed his face tiredly.
"That...was exhausting," he sighed, "I'm so glad I can see again," he turned to Kuroiro and stuck out his hand, "Thanks for taking care of me. If it wasn't for you then I'll be stuck in a ditch somewhere. You were the one who won it for your class."
The white haired teen looked at him with a raised eyebrow before looking down at his hand. He sighed and shook it reluctantly, "Yeah, yeah. But don't give me all the credit. You were the one who led us here," he muttered before he thought, 'Alright, I guess he's not that bad...once you get used to him.'
Lewis chuckled, "You know, your quirk is really interesting. If you want, I'm setting up a club next semest-"
"Pass," he muttered as he turned his back to him.
"Huh? So cold!"
Outside Eating Area
Evening drew nearer on a long and tiring day and the students were celebrating getting to the camp in one piece by stuffing their faces with as much food as they could handle. Rows of wooden tables were set outside the main building and covered in a mountain of food that Mandalay and Pixie Bob had kindly prepared for them. Ragdoll and Tiger had things to prepare for tomorrow's activists and so they were unable to attend along with them. The students were chatting, laughing and eating together; glad to be out of the woods and to enjoy some comfort while it lasted.
Lewis had his fair share as he ate a bowl of rice. He was relieved to no longer where the damn blindfold and can now enjoy spending time with his friends as they talked about what they experienced.
"…suddenly, another giant monster came out of nowhere and pounced on us, but Bakugo was able to blow it away in one shot," Kirishima said excitedly as he sat opposite Lewis at the table, "It was totally manly!"
"Hell yeah!" Tetsutestu agreed next to him, "Nice one, Baku-bro!" he cried out across the eating area.
"You're being too loud!" Bakugo yelled at them from his table before he want back to his meal.
"Man! That sounds insane!" Manga laughed as he sat next to Lewis on the right, "It must have been like 'rooaaar' and 'grrrooowwwll' and he must have been 'BOOOM!' 'Pow!' 'Wallop!'," he said, making the sounds effects appear on his face, "I would have loved to see that!"
"Yeah…something like that," Karminari, who was sat opposite him, said with a sweat drop, "At the time though, it was more like…running around and trying not to get crushed by the giant dirt monsters."
"Sounds awesome!" Manga proclaimed with a thumbs up.
Awase who was sat on Lewis' left shook his head, "Honestly, you guys sound like you had it rough. All we had was one scary dude and to try and not lead Fleetwood into a ditch."
"And I really appreciate that," Lewis happily said, earning a chuckle from the other boys. His eyes were suddenly drawn across the eating area where he saw a young boy. He looked no older than eight years old with short black hair, fair skin and narrowed angry eyes. He wore a plain white shirt, shorts and a red baseball cap with two horns stuck onto the front. Lewis hummed thoughtfully as he watched the boy leaning against a wall as he glared at them with a hateful look and nodded at him to the people he was with, "Who's he? Does he live nearby?"
Kirishima and Karminari looked over their shoulder before turning back to their food.
"Oh, that's the kid who punched Midoryia in the balls," Kanminari said.
"W-what?" Awase said, "When did that happen?"
"Just as we arrived. Midoryia tried to talk to him and he totally punched out of nowhere," Kirishima explained, "So unmanly."
"Very unmanly," Tetsutetsu agreed.
"Is he okay?" Lewis asked.
Karminari shrugged, "I don't know. He might be sore, but you have to ask Midoryia."
"No, I meant the kid," he clarified, "He's done nothing but glare at us for the past half hour. Shouldn't he be eating as well?"
"Can't say for definite. But he's Mandalay's nephew so you can always ask her."
Lewis nodded at the information, before he spotted the boy slip away from the eating area and out into the woodland. He was about to say something, but Pixie Bob clapped her hands together to catch their attention.
"Alright, kittens! The baths are all ready so, once you're done eating, head on in. Make sure you shower first okay?!" she told them as she waved her paw gloves in the air.
Kirishima sprang up and pumped his fists in the air, "Oh yeah! I need a bath after today!"
"Me too!" Tetsutetsu cried as he jumped up, "Can't wait to wash all this grime off!"
"They're really are like two peas in a pod," Awase sighed as he rolled his eyes before he joined the group of students heading to the baths.
Lewis, however, hang back a little bit as he saw Mandalay and Pixie Bob picking up the dirty plates that were left behind, feeling a little bad about leaving them to clean up for them.
"Hey Fleetwood," Manga called out from the doorway to the main building, "You coming?"
"Go ahead. I'll catch up!" he called back to him.
His new friend gave him a thumbs up and headed in while he began to pile the dishes to make it easier to carry them to get them washed. Mandalay looked up from her cleaning and gave a polite smile.
"Don't worry about them, Fleetwood," she told him with a wave of her hand, "You must be tired after today. We'll take it from here."
"I'm fine. I honestly not that tired," he told her as he picked up a few plates from the table, "I'll join the others later."
Mandalay cast a look to the far table where Aizawa and Vlad King were seated. Seeing them talking to each by other and not looking over to them, she assumed that they don't mind if he helped.
"Well, if you insist," she told him with a kind smile.
"No problem at all. I was actually going to tell you that your nephew went into the forest," he said, nodding in the direction he took off him.
She glanced over to where he nodded at and frowned sadly, "Damn, I told him to stop doing that," she muttered before turning back to him, "His name is Kota and he's actually my cousin' son. Don't worry about him, he…does that a lot. But he knows the forest so he won't get lost."
"Oh, I see," Lewis hummed as they carried the plates and bowls into the house and down the wooden hallways towards the kitchen, "Did he not want to join us for dinner?"
"Sadly not tonight," Mandalay sighed with a thoughtful expression as they entered the kitchen, "I'll make sure he does when gets back. For now, do you mind putting the dishes on the side over there," she said, pointing one her gloved fingers next to the sink where Pixie Bob was happily doing the washing up, "Thanks Fleetwood, but we'll take it from here. You should enjoy your first day here."
"Wait, Fleetwood," they jumped in surprise at Pixie Bob's yell as she looked around from the waving up, "You're Fleetwood? You're the guy who we sent that workplace placement, aren't you? I thought I recognised you."
Lewis blinked at her before he remembered the Wild Wild Pussycats hero agency on the list a few months ago, "Yes, I remember now. You did send me an application. Thank you so much," he said as he put the plates down on the counter.
"But you turned us down."
"Errr…"
"Ryuko," Mandalay warned.
"I'm joking," the blond laughed, "You can always work with us next time. After all, that quirk of yours is useful for mountain rescues. So drop us a line if you want an apprenticeship, okay?," she said with a wink
"I will, thank you so much," Lewis promised.
"Great. Tomorrow, why don't you drop by and I'll introduce you to Ragdoll and Tiger. I'm sure they'll love to meet you properly. Just as long as you like cats, then we'll work well together."
Lewis face lit up in excitedly, "Like cats? I love cats!"
"So do I!" Pixie Bob chirped, "What's you favourite!?"
"All of them!"
"Correct answer!" she said giving a thumbs up, earning a playful eye roll from Mandalay, "All cats are cute and adorable!" she declared before her eyes looked him up and down, "And talking of cute. You're not too bad yourself," she said, licking her lips.
"…I'm sorry?" he asked in confusion before he gulped at the lecherous look she was giving him.
She began to walk around him like a predator encircling its prey, looking him up and down as if she was conducting and inspection, "Very nice. Tall, not too muscular, nice hair, not a big fan of glasses, but they do suit him so I'll let it slide," she murmured to herself while Lewis gave her an odd look, "can you cook, little kitten?"
"Err…yes and bake as well," he answered before thinking, 'little kitten?"
"Good, good," she said with a nod, "You getting good grades?"
"Yes, I suppose."
"Do you live in an apartment or a house?"
"I currently live in my uncle's house."
"You keep it clean and tidy?"
"I clean it every Saturday."
"Ever thought of getting married? Ever thought of having kids? Have you thought of the names yet or how many you want? Does your family have a history of illness or health conditions? How do you feel about dating an older, but not that old, woman?" she questioned rapidly.
"Why are you writing this down?" he asked nervously, looking down at the pen and notepad suddenly in her hands.
"Don't worry about it," she told him with an eager smile "hypothetical question: if your future romantic partner comes home after a long day of hero work, would you rub her feet and make her a nice dinner as a treat?"
Before Lewis could give an answer, Mandalay grabbed her by the scuff of her uniform and pulled her away from him.
"That's enough. What did I say about scouting for future husbands," she scolded.
"But I'm eighteen at heart so it's okay," Pixie Bob complained as her colleague dragged her out of the kitchen.
"That's not what the law will say."
"At least let me take a photo of us together so my parents can get off my back on finding someone!" Pixie Bob complained while Lewis sweat dropped at what just happened.
Men's Changing Room
Lewis had to admit that the was a little worried about the baths.
In his life, he had never bathed with other people. He's been to pools and worn a swimming costume, but that was about the most exposed he had ever been around others. Don't get him wrong, he wasn't ashamed of his body nor was there anything weird about the experience, he just had to break down the mental barrier that was holding him back.
He took of his clothes and glasses and put it a locker before he wrapped a towel around his waist and opened the shoji door that led into the outdoor baths. The heat hit him hard, despite being outside in the cold, the warm water vapours of the steam baths enveloped him in its warmth. It was a large steam bath with plenty of room for both classes to fit in comfortably; the floor was laid in stone slabs that were warm to the touch and decorated with bamboo plants growing from plots of earth; all of it was surrounded by a tall wooden wall for privacy. On one side, there were a row of showers and, on the other side, a partition wall that separated the male and female baths. He saw his male classmates sitting in the shallow waters or washing under the showers.
They all looked like they were having fun; Kirishima and Tetsutetsu were competing with each other by posing to show of their muscles; Iida and Shoji were talking to Honenuki and Shoda about what they were expecting from the training camp; Awase, Sero, Karminari and Tsubaraba were playing a game; Fumikage and Kurorio were brooding in the corner and talking about…something about the abyss and the dark, Lewis wasn't really too sure. Even Monoma and Bakugo were keeping quiet and not picking a fight, which was extraordinary in itself. Lewis couldn't help but smile at that; Class A and B working together and having fun was exactly what he wanted. After all, they were all trying to be heroes and competing with each other won't help. The effects of the U.A Sports Festival was slowly coming undone and Lewis couldn't be happier.
All he had to do now is build up relations with the other classes. How hard can that be?
"Excuse me, Fleetwood," he heard. He squinted and saw the blurry form of Midoryia coming towards him with somebody in his arms, "Can you check on him? He fell of the division wall."
Lewis looked down at the person in his arms and, after a few seconds, recognised who it was, "Oh, this is Mandalay's cousin's son, isn't," noticing who the young boy was from earlier before he checked for any injuries, "What happened?"
"I'm not too sure. He fell suddenly and I caught him before he could hit the ground. He just passed out."
"What was he doing up there?"
"Security, apparently."
"Security against what?" he asked before Midoryia nodded towards the wall in reply. He squinted at where he nodded and saw Mineta lying on the stone tiles unconscious; he then saw the sticky balls that was stuck to the wall and Lewis quickly pieced what happened, "Ah, I see. He's a hero in the making, then," he hummed before he nodded in satisfaction, "He's fine. He just needs some rest. I think there's an infirmary down the hallway."
"Right. Thank you," Midoryia said before he swiftly left the baths to the infirmary.
'At least put your clothes on first,' Lewis sighed as he saw him run out in only a towel.
He turned back around and entered the baths, taking extra care to not trip or slip. He showered before he he sat in the warm waters and exhaled contently as its soothing properties relaxed his muscles. He leaned back his head on the side, closed his eyes and smiled to himself. He would join the others in few minutes or so, but right now, he felt like he needed time for himself.
"Hey Lewis! Are you there?"
His head shot up and his eyes widened, looking around for its source. He was confused; why did it sound feminine and nobody else called him by his first name…except for…
He turned his head to the division wall and blinked in bewilderment, "Pony? Is that you?"
-A Few Seconds Ago -
Female Baths
Setsuna placed her hands on her bare hips as she grinned up at the division wall. She didn't bother covering herself up with a towel in front of the other girls as she felt there was no reason to and shamelessly stood proud with her back turned to them. Eventually, she turned her head towards them and grinned mischievously.
"So, the boys are right behind the wall, right!" she said as she gave them a thumbs up, "Want me to use my quirk and give you the details?"
Some of the girls blushed while others laughed while others shook their heads in disappointment; one or two of them doing all three in that order. However, it was Shiozaki, a towel covering her front as she sat on the side to cover her modesty, who was first to glare at her in disapproval.
"Setsuna. That is unacceptable. Please refrain from such sinful acts," she scolded.
"And cover yourself up. I don't want to see that," Jiro chimed in from the water, trying not look bothered by how more endowed she was I'm comparison to her.
"Bah! What a bunch of prudes you guys are," Setsuna scoffed, "You don't complain when Toru does it."
"It's not like I have a choice," the invisible girl pointed out, her only indication she was there was a human shaped gap in the water.
Komori, who was over in the shower area, looked over her shoulder at her, "You shouldn't joke about that. You can get in serious trouble. If you do that."
"She's right," Momo agreed, wading neck deep in the water "You wouldn't like it if the boys did the same to us."
"She won't do it," Kendo firmly said before she glared at Setsuna, "Because she knows better. Isn't that right?"
Setsuna raised her hands up in front of her, "Alright, alright. I'll be good. I won't use my quirk," she promised before she glanced over at Yanagi, "Hey, mind doing me a favour and using quirk to float me up."
"Very funny," Yanagi sighed, rolling her eyes.
Over at the far side of the baths, Shoko and Kodai sat together with their hair up in a towel and cup of tea in their hands.
"I wouldn't mind if she looked at the boys," Shoko said before she sipped her tea, "However, Fleetwood is off limits."
"Agreed," Kodai said with a nod of her head.
"When did you they become friends?" Mina whispered in bafflement as she perched on a rock with a towel around her shoulders.
"Oh Fleetwood, huh?" Setsuna said as her grin grew wider, "I wonder if he's there. You think he'll be embarrassed if I call out to him, knowing the girl he's talking to is totally butt naked?"
"Setsuna, that's enough," Kendo sighed, "Don't bother him with-"
But before she could finish, a voice called out across both baths, making the girls' blood run cold.
"Hey Fleetwood! Are you there?" Pony called out, appearing right next to the division wall right next to Setsuna.
Like her, she had also not bothered with covering up anything, making the others clearly see her little fluffy tail as it wagged excitedly above her round rear end. Setsuna's eyes widened in sheer shock and leapt back away from her; almost in disbelief at what she was doing.
"Pony," she hissed at her, "What are you-"
"Pony? Is that you?" the unsure voice of Lewis called back, making the girls, apart from Pony, Shoko and Kodai, clam up.
"Yep, it's me. How are you enjoying the baths? I always wanted to go to one back home."
"Y-yeah, it's great," he replied hesitantly, "Pony…I don't think we're supposed to talk to each other through the wall. It's a little inappropriate."
"Aww, I don't…mind," she said, waving her hand dismissively, "In… places they have… mixed bathing… so it ok."
"I mind," Setsuna whispered at her, having retrieved her towel and wrapped it around, "I don't want to talk to him knowing that I'm…" she motioned to herself, her cheeks red in embarrassment.
"She changed her tune fast," Kodai hummed.
"An easily embarrassed pervert. That's an oxymoron," Shoko said with a nod of her head.
Setsuna whipped her head towards them, "Shut up, you two! Since when did you becoming a double act, huh!?"
The two blankly stared at her before they sipped their tea, making her hum in annoyance.
"So, anyway," Pony continued, "I was… thinking…more about your… love life and how…to expand on it."
"WHAT!?" some of the girls yelled in shock.
"I don't think that this is the right time for that," Lewis responded anxiously, having heard the exclamation.
"Oh no, it is. I can…give you…the details on everyone… here," she told him excitedly, much to the other girls' shock.
"Hey! Pony!"
"What the hell!?"
"Refrain from such sinful behaviour!"
Pony ignored them, "So, what are you a boob guy or a butt guy? Or are you both?"
"Why would you-"
"Wait, hold on…let's hear him out."
Lewis hesitated slightly, "Err…I guess I don't have a preference."
"Kind of lame answer."
"I'm actually relieved."
"Pony, ask him if he likes thighs instead!"
"Aww, that's sweet…" Pony chirped happily before she narrowed her eyes in determination, "…but seriously now. Which one?"
Kendo delivered a swift chop to her head before she could say another word, making her squeak in pain and rub the sore part of her head.
"I dealt with her, Fleetwood," Kendo called out to him, trying her best to not sound bashful when doing do, "You continue…doing what you are doing," she lamely said as she dragged Pony away by the arm.
"Thanks Kendo," Lewis replied back.
"Aww, what about my romcom," Pony whined with a pout.
"What are you talking about?" Kendo sighed wearily before she lifted her up by the shoulders like she was stuffed toy and placed her down next to Kodai, "Sorry, but can you look after her, Kodai. I'm worried that she's going to keep on bothering the boys."
Kodai nodded while Pony childishly poured and crossed her arms in front of her. As soon as Kendo left, Shoko leaned forwards to look at the shorter girl and raised an eyebrow curiously.
"Romcom? What do you mean by that?"
"Oh," Pony said, her head perking up at the attention, "I'm planning a harem for Lewis. Do you want to hear it?"
….
….
….
….
Shoko and Kodai glanced at each other and shrugged before they nodded in agreement.
"You see, this…why you guys are… my favourite."
Boys Baths
Lewis turned away from the division wall and noticed the pregnant silence. He looked around and saw the rest of the boys staring at him in disbelief, having witnessed him talk to a girl on the other side of the wall. He stared blankly at them before he smiled sheepishly and pointed at the wall.
"Americans, am I right?" he joked with a nervous laugh, "What we…do without them."
…
…
…
"Wait, you're not American," Bondo suddenly question in confusion, earning a miserable look from him.
The Forest
The night seemed way too short.
After their baths and only a few hours of sleep, they were forced by Aizawa out of their comfortable, cosy rooms and into the cold early morning. The sun had barely inches its way over the tree tops and yet they had to be in their P.E uniform and ready to start their training.
Lewis groggily looked over his fellow classmates, his glasses slightly askew on his face. They all seemed to be in some state of exhaustion; students like Kaminari, Mina and Sero looked more like zombies as they stumbled and groaned through the forest while students like Jiro, Midoryia and Asui looked unfocused and yawned frequently. Even the more studious students like Momo, Iida and Bakugo had dark rings around their eyes. The only one who didn't look tired at all was their homeroom teacher who was leading the pack…although Lewis supposed that this sort of thing was normal thing.
Eventually, as they reached a grass clearing, Aizawa turned around and to address them, "Good morning," he muttered, "Had a good rest? Feeling ready for your training?"
"Is he serious?" Sato groaned and yawned.
"Good to hear," Aizawa said, ignoring their complaining, "Today we begin a rigorous round of reinforcement training. This trip's mission is to strengthen everyone's quirks as a whole, thereby allowing everyone to achieve their temporary licenses. This is preparation to stand against and up to real hostility and aggression from the enemy. Prepare you hearts and minds," he explained before he took a ball out of his pocket and tossed it towards Lewis. He was briefly taken by surprise by the hall but caught it with only a little fumbling, "With that said, Fleetwood, throw it using your quirk."
Lewis looked down at the ball and noticed the familiar object, "Isn't this the ball we used to throw on our first day?" he asked out loud.
"Your records indicate you recorded a toss of over ten million meters, from U.A to England. Let's see how much you have improved since then," Aizawa told him.
Lewis frowned unsurely, closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on his quirk.
"I don't think you can do much better than over ten million," Ojiro whispered from the group.
Ochako nodded, "Unless, he manages to make it disappear to the other side of the world… I don't know where that is exactly."
"It's Brazil," Momo told her, "Most of Japan's Antipode point is located in or off the coast of Brazil."
"Anti- what?"
Ignoring the whispers, Lewis continued to focus on using his quirk, but it was difficult. Sure, he could use his fading technique to send the ball to somewhere he has never been before, but he wouldn't know what way to go in since he has no idea where he was. Aizawa might as well have put a blindfolded him and asked him to walk to the South Pole himself.
'I see what he means now,' Lewis thought, 'I have barley improved my quirk at all since I came to U.A.'
He sighed, reared back his arm and threw the ball as hard as he could; only managing to toss the ball a few meters out in the forest. His second throw was pathetic to his first throw.
The other students were surprised by the lack of enthusiasm but, before they could ask what was wrong, Aizawa stepped before them.
"Thank you Fleetwood for proving my point," he said, "You might have done well on your first try but, once I push your quirk to its peak, then cracks start to show. And it's the same for all of you. In three months, you have gained a lot of experience and, of course, certainly grown. But that growth has been emotionally and technical. Now the time has come to concentrate on physical advancement as well. As you can see, your quirks themselves have only improved at best by a marginal amount. So, starting today, we will focus on upgrading your quirks. I will be punishing you beyond your limits…" he said with an evil grin that made them shiver in fear, "…so, this is going to be the worst week of your lives."
As the student gulped at his dangerous tone, Lewis hung his head and sighed, 'This is going to be hell.'
That's it for now, thanks for reading.
Sorry for the late update, but I hoped you enjoyed it nonetheless. This turned out way longer then I was expecting. But now we're at the Training Camp Arc, I wonder what will happen.
Thanks for reading :)
Omake - How kuudere make friends
Girls Bath
As the girls laughed and chatted to each other as they soaked in the warm waters of the baths, Shoko and Kodai sat next to each other with the water up to their chests. They said nothing to each other; Kodai simply sipping a cup of tea that she brought with her and Shoko staring out across the baths. Eventually, Shoko turned to the other stoic girl.
"You want to talk?"
Kodai glanced at her and lowered her cup; "About what?"
"I don't know. Anything?"
"Oh…" she sipped her tea, "…no."
Shoko nodded and looked away, "Good. I didn't feel like talking."
"Me neither."
…
…
…
Kodai brought out another cup from her bag, "You want some tea?"
Shoko shrugged, "Sure."
Kodai poured another cup from her thermos and passed it to Shoko. The two then sipped their teas and sat in silence.
The two became friends after that.
