Roman isn't sure how Grace found out about Brex. She moves in the same social circles as the Roys, likes the parties and the drugs. Roman pretends to like all that too, but can only see Kendall unconscious on the bathroom floor whenever someone hands him a pill or a bag of powder, so he'll just toy with it politely and then put it down when no one's looking. He's good at acting high, just his normal personality but with even less of a filter.
The point is, rumours about Roman and his personal trainer have gotten back to Grace (and to Shiv too, to her delight). Brex must have blabbed after he was fired, despite the NDA. Maybe Roman really will sue him this time.
"Everyone's laughing at me," says Grace, her face flushed, tears in her eyes.
"Oh, bullshit. No one cares. Everyone knows trainers who charge those kind of fees offer extras."
"So it's true?" Grace demands, hands on her hips. It would be kind of hot if Roman wasn't panicking underneath.
"No. I'm just saying, who cares what people think?" He only really cares what his dad thinks.
"I care! Look, if you're gay just tell me. It would explain a lot."
"I'm not gay!" he says truthfully. He's not sure what he is, but he's definitely interested in women, even though he can't fuck his girlfriend properly.
"Well you'd better do something about the rumours. Because gay or not, I won't stay with someone who's unfaithful."
"Or really?" He calls her bluff. "You'll give up your connections to my family? You'll give up having all those opportunities for your daughter?"
She glares at him and he knows he's won. "Just be more discreet in future," she says finally, and turns away.
He can be discreet. When the whole thing with Gerri starts, he's with Tabitha and they have an understanding that she's free to sleep with whoever she likes, since he can't satisfy her in that area. Still, she probably wouldn't be too happy to learn that a woman twice her age turns Roman on more than she does.
With Gerri he has the unbelievability factor on his side, he can tell a room full of people I jerked off in Gerri's bathroom last night, and everyone including Gerri just rolls their eyes.
It's only because of his stupid jealousy of stupid Laurie that he blows it, sends that pic in haste to the wrong recipient and goes from potential CEO to laughing stock in less than a minute. It's even worse for Gerri. It hadn't occurred to him that he was endangering her position until the damage was done.
Sitting alone with a martini in Gerri's favourite bar, he wonders what would have happened if he hadn't sent that picture. Maybe Gerri could have got him to CEO, like she said. She could have been Chair, and they could have kept their relationship, or whatever it was, their little secret, until they were ready to go public. His dad might not have decided to sell, wouldn't have told Roman to fire Gerri, wouldn't haveā¦
These thoughts are unbearable. He drains the rest of his drink and looks over his shoulder one more time, in case Gerri has decided to show up.
She hasn't. She's probably at home counting the money she got from her Waystar payout. He looks at the photo he sent her of his martini, hoping she would recognise the bar and come and join him. Seen, but no reply.
He resists the urge to message her again, begging her for one last chance. He messages Kendall instead.
