Arizona's POV
We have been at Dax's place for some time, its now 1am and everyone seems happy, i watch Leah do some kind of funny dance that is making her laugh like crazy and it makes me smile.
"come join me" she tells me from across the room and I can't deny her, i head her way.
"i've never seen you dance like that before, I didn't think you had that much rythm in you" i say and she acts hurt but we both laugh
"he can do it better" she says pointing at her brother that stopped drinking about an hour ago.
"not with this leg Lee" he says giving her a sad smile
"i'll carry you" she says motioning for him to get up
"never" he says giving her a look that says 'it's not happening'
"i'll dance with you" Dax says approaching us, taking Leah from my side
"she's drunk" Leo says when i take a seat next to him
"yeah" i say smiling
"she's safe right? you'll take care of her?" he asks more to himself than to me but i respond anyways
"i'll protect her with my life is necessary, there is nothing to worry about" i say trying to reassure him
"except there is..." he says shaking his head "our family" he finishes with a worried face
"you know them, how bad would it be if they knew?" i ask now worried myself
"Dad and I are the more understanding ones, but Mom and James not so much" he says and i nod so he continues "James might come along eventually but Mom i'm not too sure about, she's strong willed" he says giving me a sad face
"how bad?" i ask and he has a look like he feels bad for us.
"By now you know they have money, lots of it..." i nod and he continues "she will move Leah back home if she feels like she has to, and you well you're a professor she could make sure you don't get a job ever again" he says worry now settling in his face
"We will be ok" i say trying to reassure him and reassuring myself at the same time "Leah wanted to talk to your mom about her preferences, do you think that would go well?" i ask and he shakes his head immediately
"she hasn't told her in years because she knows exactly how Mom thinks, she's ok with other people but not her kids, i'm hoping the distance helps if she lets Leah stay here"
"if she lets her?" i ask and he nods
"yes, they pay for her school if they stop Leah has no reason to stay here" he realizes what he said so he adds "or they think she doesn't"
"What are you guys talking about?, you look worried" Leah says approaching us, sitting next to me and giving me a kiss on the cheek, which makes me smile.
"nothing important, just telling Arizona how this happened" he says pointing at his leg, clearly lying.
"it's because he's crazy and never careful, he's broken almost every bone in his body" she says and he shakes his head
"you're so dramatic sometimes" he says watching her grab my hand and give it a squeeze
"i'm kinda ready to go, I don't think i can drink anymore and Dax wants another shot" she says worried and I laugh "'ll deal with him" i say getting up
"we are leaving" i say approaching him
"alright but take this one with me" he says handing me a full shot and we take it
"i love that she makes you smile" he says hugging me, clearly drunk
"yeah? you like her?" i say watching Leah and her brother talk from where we are standing
"i love her, she's perfect for you but..." he gives me a look "i worry about you" he says
"why? she wouldn't hurt me" i say
"oh I don't think she would but she's your student, how much trouble would you be on, if the wrong person finds out?" he asks clearly worried
"a lot" i say and it makes me think, i love Leah there is no question about it but i am putting both of us at risk, she loves the university it's her dream school and if her mother finds out she's going to take her out and I can't be the reason why she looses her dream, i take a sip of my drink and worry settles in my stomach.
Leah POV
We are heading home, Arizona is driving and Leo is sleeping in the back, i grab Arizona's hand over the console and she doesn't look my way, she's been awfully quiet since we left Dax's i want to ask her so bad but i'm not sure if i should with Leo in the car.
"everything ok?" i ask and she nods still looking at the road, clearly something is in her head but she doesn't want to tell me, i decide that I shouldn't insist until we are alone and we can talk so i continue watching the road until i'm almost asleep.
"we are here" she says about 10 minutes later moving me softly so i wake up
"Let me take him upstairs" i say and she gives me a questioning look "am i not staying with you?" i ask and she looks surprised, i know she wants to avoid talking but we will.
"I wasn't sure" she says explaining
"just put me in the elevator i know the way sister" Leo says
"none sense" is say "I'll be back" i say giving Arizona a quick kiss and she smiles
Not long after i am back in the car.
The way back is quiet too, Arizona only talks when i ask something and this is driving me crazy, it's not like her something is really worrying her. We get home and she gets down first opening the door for me. I don't say anything until we are inside.
"water?" she asks and i nod sitting in the living room, she's heading to the room but my voice stops her
