Miroku's voice resounded like thunder, his tone not allowing a retort of any kind. InuYasha and Kagome withdrew their hands from the wooden bowl immediately. Carved on the object, there was a lush tree that seemed divided in two, as if a lightning bolt, or some evil, had split it.
Three days had it taken them to arrive at that place, and another whole day to find that piece that had the whole village on edge. Weeks, had the inhabitants been hearing the spirits of the departed, coming from the forest, and fearing the disasters that their negative energy could bring. And there was a legend, passed down for generations, speaking about the curse that had been placed on that object by the one who carved it.
Miroku approached it cautiously, and wrapped the bowl in a piece of cloth he used to touch it.
