The escape and de after ….. Chapter 2

Remember English is not my native language, I hope the translation is correct, I check it, but sometimes I miss some incorrect, sorry.

I repeat, I am not the owner of the characters, I only rely on them for the sheer pleasure of practice writing stories without any economic interest, and these two characters inspire me.

In mid-July Chandler arrives in NY with his bag of clothes, two suitcases with books and his laptop.

He leaves the two suitcases in storage at the station, and stays in a small hotel until he can reach an

agreement with the friend of Phoebe to share the flat.

Since he had escaped from boarding school Chandler had always lived alone, he had made several

friends in Tampa, but between his studies and the plantation he didn't have much time for fun,

although he always had time for the girls, he had had several girlfriends, it was easy for him to

conquest, but deep down he knew that he had not fallen in love with any of them.

He called Phoebe and they arranged that on Wednesday he would go to Central Perk to meet Ross.-

When Chandler enters the cafe, several girls turn to look at him, despite being dressed simply and

not exactly in NY fashion, he is a very attractive young man.

Phoebe introduces them.

To Monica, regardless of the doubts she had about this friend of Phoebe, the boy seemed very

handsome, he had incredible blue eyes, and a delicious mischievous smile. She suddenly realized

that she was dating, but she told herself that dating Steven didn't stop her from being able to enjoy

a handsome man.

As for Chandler, he sees Ross as a formal young man, with a polite and austere personality, and

precisely these characteristics, from his life experiences, make him sense that he is a good person

and they can surely be good friends. As for Monica, Ross's sister, wow... she is beautiful…. the most

beautiful woman he met in real life, She is small, with incredibly blue eyes, only she is not very

friendly and she looks at him suspiciously.

In turn, Ross finds Chandler very nice, fun and open,.-

Chandler tells them that he lived in Tampa, that he worked for several years on an orange plantation,

the owner Ronald made him finish high school and helped him get a scholarship to study. Graduated

in Information Sciences, for more than two years he worked at a computer company in Tampa and

also continued helping Ronald on the plantation. A few months ago Ronald died, the family sold the

plantation, and although he continued working in that company, he wanted to grow and obtained

a position in a company in NY.

Ross told Chandler that he was a paleontologist, and Monica was a chef. The conversation was

pleasant between Phoebe, Ross and Chandler, but Monica remained silent, studying the newcomer.

She wanted to make sure he wasn't a bad person. Steven had advised her to stay keep alert.

After the talk, the four of them went to see Ross's apartment, number 19, and Chandler liked it,

they agreed to share the expenses and agreed that the next day he would take his things. Chandler

asked if he could put together a bookcase and a small desk in his room, Ross told him that he could

put whatever he wanted.

Early Thursday Chandler brings his things, a bag with his clothes, a suitcase of books and his

inseparable laptop but he had to leave another suitcase with books in the storage room because they are both very heavy. While Ross is working Chandler goes out to buy sheets, a bedspread, a

lamp and buys a bookcase to put together that will be delivered the next day.

He also buys food. When Ross arrives he finds Chandler preparing dinner, chicken and vegetable

ragout for Phoebe…. whom Chandler invited because she had told him that she would be alone since

Monica was going out with her boyfriend. Ross offers Chandler a beer, but Chandler tells him that

he prefers orange juice. "He had bought a juicer and two large bags of juicy oranges."

Ross and Phoebe realize that this boy knows how to cook very well.

That night, when Monica returns, she is surprised to find no remains of Chinese food, since Phoebe

and Ross usually order it when Monica is not there, but Phoebe tells her that they had dinner at 19

because Chandler cooked a delicious meal. This novelty did not sit well with Monica; she did not

want competition. And even less from that stranger.

Early on Friday morning, Chandler prepares breakfast, eggs and bacon, toast with cheese, and cereal

and has breakfast with Ross.

When Monica comes a little later to tell them that she is waiting for them for breakfast, Ross tells

her that they already did it, that Chandler already prepared it. Monica again feels upset with this

man who is displacing her.

At that moment Chandler comes out of the bathroom with only a towel around his waist and when

he sees Monica he turns red, he apologizes and returns to the bathroom.

Mónica notices his shapely and quite tanned body.

Monica leaves, but she tells Ross in the hallway that they are invited to dinner that night, that Steven

wants to meet Chandler to give his opinion on this man.

Ross responds "Monica, we are big enough to know if a person is good or not, that Steven is no one

to give an opinion about my friends."

"Ross is good to have another opinion and he has more experience than us" said Monica

Ross answers, "of course he is the wise old man of the tribe" and Monica makes the gesture with

her fists, and she leaves saying that she is waiting for them at 7 p.m.

Later, while Ross went to work, Chandler receives the library and manages to put it together quite

quickly. On the plantation he acquired strength and skills, he arranges some of his books, when he

finishes he goes to look for the other suitcase and before going up he enters Central Perk for a snack

and coffee. He finds the place pleasant, Phoebe told him that they always meet there in the

afternoons when they come home from work. A couple of girls smiled at him promisingly, but he

ignored them, he still had a lot to do to settle in, in 10 days he would start working.

After lunch, Chandler finishes arranging the remaining books.

An hour later Ross arrives and Chandler tells him that he was looking at a Subway map and wants

to familiarize himself with the ride to work and the time it will take, so he's going to experience it,

he doesn't want to be late for work.

Ross reminds him that at 7:00 p.m. they have dinner at Monica's house. "Ok," Chandler says, "maybe

there's more than two hours left and anyway, ¿Could I miss your sister's dinner, she's a chef right?"

And he leaves smiling.

Despite the embarrassing encounter that morning, Chandler's interest in this beautiful girl was

piqued. While Chandler didn't have a good first impression of Monica, it was more because of the

way she carried herself, but he doesn't usually go by his first impressions, it's something he also

learned. -

A while later Monica and Phoebe go to 19 and find Ross reading, they ask about Chandler and he

tells them that he is so responsible that he went to see the route he has to take to get to work on

time.

Out of pure curiosity, Monica wants to see Chandler's room and finds a perfectly made bed, with a

very manly Scottish bedspread, a perfectly organized library, which includes a small desk where the

laptop is, she opens the closet and sees the clothes properly arranged. , it's not much, but everything

is ironed, Monica thinks that soon he's going to have to buy warm clothes, obviously because of his

clothes, it doesn't snow where he comes from, and she also sees on the wall in front of the bed a

huge poster of a beautiful sunset in an orange grove… She was surprised by how organized this new

inhabitant was, much more so than Ross.

When Chandler returned from his excursion, he took another shower and changed his clothes to go

to dinner at 20 apartment, anyway, the clothes he put on were still simple, not designer, clean and

ironed, but they were rather country.

On the way back Chandler had bought a bottle of good red wine to take to dinner.

Ross told him that it was not necessary, but he replied, "Look, it is good manners to bring something

when you are invited to a house for dinner for the first time". "They are remnants of things learned

in another life."

When Chandler arrived with Ross at apartment 20, it seemed enormous to him, Phoebe and Steven

were sitting on the couch in the living room and Monica was in the kitchen putting the finishing

touches on dinner.

Chandler greeted everyone and while he gave Monica the bottle and she thanked him, saying it

wasn't necessary, Steven had already jumped off the couch and stood next to Monica hugging her

shoulders. Monica introduced Chandler to her boyfriend, Dr. Steven Dawson, who looked Chandler

up and down, studying him and, although he looked like a farmer, Steven did not overlook the fact

that he was a handsome man and therefore a possible rival. He would have to keep an eye on him.

Chandler thought that this guy, with such an arrogant look, must be quite an idiot, he knew it

because during his life, especially before his escape, he had known up close quite a few people who

believed themselves superior to all other human beings, and he It seemed strange that such a

beautiful woman would be with that man, unless she was the same.

Monica told them that the food was ready, and invited them to sit at the table, which was perfectly

set. -

They sat at the table and Steven opened the wine that Chandler had brought and when it was his

turn to serve him, Chandler said: "no, thank you, I don't drink alcohol."

Steven asked, "Why?" raising his eyebrows and with a small smile.

Chandler was bothered by the tone and the way the man raised his eyebrows at him, and he

sarcastically replied

"Doctor, before you ask or think about it, which some prejudiced people normally do, I inform you

that I am neither in rehabilitation nor am I Muslim,"…. "I just don't like drinking alcohol, I learned as

a child that those who drink it sooner or later usually end up hurting someone and I don't like hurting

people."

"But you obviously know about wine, this is very good…" Steven said ironically.

Chandler laughed, ... "No, you're wrong again, Doctor, I've simply learned throughout my life that

when it comes to drinks, the most expensive is generally the best, it's easy to choose that way." and

continued

"But you know, sir, exactly the opposite happens with people, in general when you pull the cork

from the richest or most powerful or conceited, you find that the content is very cheap and stale."

Everyone remained silent, Ross and Phoebe smiled as they found Chandler's speech "delicious", an

excellent and intelligent response to Steven's idiot, but Monica considered him aggressive towards

her boyfriend.

Chandler then added, "Anyway, I'm not a saint, I have a vice, I smoke" and at the disgusted look on

Monica and Ross' faces he quickly added, "but don't worry, I don't do it in closed places, only on the

street or when I sit in the park to smoke"

Phoebe then asked him…. "But you didn't smoke when I met you in Central Park, have you been

smoking for a long time?"

"Yeah …. since I was nine years old," Chandler answered with a smile.

Everyone looked at him in surprise.

Monica asked him, "And your parents allowed you?"

"They were never really home. And I also tend to smoke when I'm stressed."

When they started to eat, Chandler commented that the food was so good that you could tell she

was a great chef.

The conversation drifted into other lanes and when they had finished Monica offered everyone

coffee.

Chandler thanked her for the invitation, but told her that it had been a very long and hard day, he

was tired so he wished them goodnight.
