Now that Sonic had all three spiritual stones, he was ready to see the princess. But as Sonic headed back to the castle, the sky suddenly grew dark in the middle of the day. "That's weird," thought Sonic. Having known about Impa's ability to change the weather, he wanted to ask her if she made the sky dark and gloomy and if so, why. But as Sonic headed closer, the drawbridge came down and a white horse galloped past Sonic with Zelda and Impa. Zelda tossed something to Sonic, but he missed it entirely and it fell into the moat. Just as Sonic was about to turn around and bend down into the moat to grab it, another steed blocked his way. This steed was black, and it carried the dark lord that everyone has been talking about. He looked really frustrated. "Argh! I lost her," he muttered. Then, he looked over at Sonic. "You, over there, little hedgehog." Sonic looked up. "You must've seen the white horse gallop past just now. Which way did it go? Answer me!" Sonic didn't say anything. He just brandished his quill-sword. The man chuckled. "So, you think you can protect them from me? You've got guts, hedgehog." The dark man chuckled at Sonic again. "You want a piece of me? Very funny. I like your attitude." Sonic was about to charge at the dark lord with his quill-sword, but the man knocked him back with a blast of his dark magic. "Pathetic little fool, do you realize who you are dealing with?" asked the man. "I don't even know who you are…" replied Sonic weakly. "I am Ganondorf. And soon, I will rule the world!" cackled the man evilly as he galloped away on his black steed. Sonic got to his feet. He still wanted to see what was in the water, but he was very disoriented. Shaking off his doubt, he jumped into the water. Holding his breath, he dove underwater and found the hidden treasure that Zelda left behind: The Ocarina Of Time! He was soon blinded by a mystical light.

"Sonic, can you hear me? It's me, Zelda…" said a voice. Sonic could see a vision of the cute little princess before him, but he could not speak to her. "Sonic, when you hold this ocarina in your hand," said the princess. "I won't be around anymore." She gave a sigh and had a big frown on her face. "I wanted to wait for you, but I couldn't, so I threw the ocarina of time to you. I also threw you the spiritual stone of the forest. You will need all three to open the door of time." Sonic found a shiny green stone right by his foot. Carefully, he picked it up. "Now please listen to this song…" And she started to play an unusual tune. "This song opens the door of time," she said. It didn't take long for Sonic to memorize it by heart. Soon, he was able to play all the correct notes in the "Song of Time."

"Now Sonic, play this song in front of the altar in the Temple of Time," said Zelda. "You must protect the triforce!"

Sonic was very proud of himself as he picked up the green spiritual stone from the water and climbed out of the moat. By the time Sonic had the stone carefully and safely tucked away in his bag, the drawbridge had come down and he could go to the Temple of Time. He sped through the marketplace towards what looked like another castle. But, when Sonic headed inside the building, he saw that it wasn't a castle at all. It was the Temple of Time. It was huge and echo-y inside! Sonic saw what looked like a large table right in front of him. "This must be the altar," he said. He put the three spiritual stones carefully on the alter. Then, he took out the ocarina and was ready to play the "Song of Time" again. "Here goes," he said. Taking a deep breath, he began to play the "Song of Time" on the ocarina. Together, the "Song of Time's" magic and the magic of the glowing three stones, the door of time that had been sealing the triforce soon opened. Inside, Sonic found the triforce as well as a stone block with a sword stuck in it. "What's that?" he asked. Navi flew up towards it and examined it closely. "I know what it is!" she shouted excitedly. "You do? What is it?" asked Sonic. "It's the legendary blade. The Master Sword!"

Hmm, Sonic thought to himself as he stepped up towards the block and grabbed the big sword with both hands. "I wonder what would happen if I pull it out," he said as he pulled the sword out of the block with a grunt.
