Author's Note: This a quick one shot horror story that brings Generation Defender's DEVASTATINGLY UNDERAPPRIEATED Goten Black with Death from my Piccolo story I wrote a while back! Happy Halloween Everybody! Also I understand if some of you are annoyed by my long gaps between updates this year but understand I've had alot on my plate compared to last year and I don't have my stories pretty much planned out like I did for my first story last year. One more thing the next update will definitely take awhile cause I just started a new job and I got the new Spider-Man game so they'll pretty much consume me for possibly a good month so yeah not much writing opportunity but I do promise to keep my content consistently good and well written!
It truly is a tragedy what happened to the second son of Goku, Son Goten. What was one the sweet cinnamon bun if the son family as become an insane genocidal maniac with five solar systems worth of blood on his hands. What's even more shocking is that this drastic turn to the dark side occurred within just a month's worth of time. How did Goten fall so far, so quickly? It was a disastrous combination of loss, manipulation and demonic possession. You see Goten was from a separate time stream of existence, an alternate universe, that no longer existed. Why? Because a grand tournament of power was held by the lord of all Grand Zeno to determine the strongest universe. However it had a gargantuan caveat. The losing team's universe's would be erased completely. No afterlife or anything, just gone, forever. Goten was shocked to discover that Goku had a hand in this tournament that threatened his and their entire family and home being held in the first place as he had asked the god to give him an opportunity for a good fight to satisfy his Saiyan battle cravings. And unfortunately for everyone the worst case scenario came to pass, all universe seven combatants were thrown off the ring, resulting in that universe losing and being erased. Goten could no nothing but watch as his beautiful home earth became a pitch black void and one by one all of his family and friends vanished before his eyes, never to be seen again. Just as Goten himself was about to be erased however Zamasu, a supreme Kai trainee from another timeline that Goten had befriended a month prior appeared using a time ring and just barely managed to transport themselves back to his timeline. Devastated by the loss of his family and home, Goten became filled with an unfathomable amount of hatred and fury at his father, believing that he never cared about him or anybody else, vowing to get his revenge on the Goku of the new timeline he found himself in, if he couldn't save his family, he'd at least save another version of them from meeting the same fate. Little did Goten know that Zamasu previously had serious misgivings about mortals, their destructive tendencies and their right to exist. His friendship with Goten did make him see a light he hadn't seen before, however this catastrophe had for the supreme confirmed that everything he had believed about mortals was in fact true. And now, he no longer saw Goten as a friend, he saw him as the perfect weapon for his Project Zero Mortals. Luring the poor irate boy in with promises of power and revenge, Zamasu took Goten to Hell itself. There Zamasu revealed a body of dark water that was the domain of the legendary ancient creature of darkness, Umibozu. Zamasu ordered Goten to dive into the lake and the boy did so and within its depths he had merged with the demon. Arising from the water, Goten was no longer a pure hearted angel, he was now a deranged freak with an cruel streak, an insatiable bloodlust and a fractured psyche that made him hallucinate and lose control of his anger frequently. With his mind and body corrupted, it took little convincing for Zamasu to command Goten to start killing all mortals with the promise of growing strong enough to one day destroy Goku with his own hands and leaving a vacuum for the two to reshape the cosmos in their own image. The devilish duo didn't take one thing into account however, nature abhors a vacuum, especially ones it didn't want to be made.
On the Sacred Planet of the Kais In Universe Ten
"Your getting better at cleansing planets without Super Saiyan my student, I can honestly say I'm very proud of you Goten" Zamasu complemented his apprentice on his latest purges. "You really think so?" Goten asked childishly with a big grateful dark smile on his face his fangs dinging with the sunlight. "Indeed I do, now go forth and cleanse the next planet, should take you no longer than a day or two to complete, it's civilization is already in a fragile state due to a recent war so the number is quite low and resistance will be minimal, not that it would be issue for you anyway" Zamasu informed Goten putting the obedient boy on a pedestal to further entice him to do his bidding. "Aw come on Zamasu! Give me something more challenging! Killing these ants is too easy!" Goten whined at the lack of any pressure the mission would put on him to increase his strength. "Be patient, there will be more difficult planets eventually, we do have twelve whole universes of disgusting mortals to exterminate remember?" Zamasu assured his apprentice. "Oh alright, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll be one stand out to entertain me for awhile" Goten hoped with a fanged sinister grin on his face. "There ya go Goten, that's the proper godly spirit, now off you go" Zamasu commanded encouragingly throwing the time ring for Goten to get to his assigned planet. Goten caught the ring and bowed before running out of the temple with gusto to complete his task. After making sure Goten left, Zamasu leisurely walked into a part of a temple with a crystal ball sitting on a table. "I should probably find a harder planet for Goten by the time he gets back so he doesn't whine for it again" Zamasu said to himself in a somewhat annoyed tone. Taking his seat Zamasu began concentrating on the crystal ball making it glow as Zamasu mentally programmed it to seek out a planet full of mortals strong enough to give Goten a decent challenge. Just as the ball had chosen a promising world, the image of said world was abruptly enveloped in a strange thick black fog. "Huh? What in creation is this?" Zamasu asked bewildered by the peculiar phenomenon, in the countless times he used the crystal ball, this had never happened before. Zamasu strengthened his concentration and mental focus to its max but the black fog wouldn't dissipate within the sphere. The devious supreme Kai was starting to lose his patience and frustration was rising within him when he suddenly heard a chillingly quiet foreboding voice in his ears say "you always have been rather blind for a god Zamasu". "What?! Who said that?!" Zamasu yelled out startled by the voice looking in every direction across the room but he saw no one anywhere. Zamasu looked back at the blackened crystal ball only for him to be shocked when out of the bottom part of the ball emerged a swarm of spiders that all began crawling directly towards him. "What in the name of-?! Hey?! Get off me!" Zamasu screamed in horror and disgust as the spiders started crawling up his feet and legs. The Kai tried swatting them away like any other spiders, but for some reason it was like he wasn't hitting them at all, they just kept crawling up, right up to his chest. "H-how is this possible?! Ahhhh!" Zamasu screeched in agony as the spiders went on to cover his neck and they started biting every part of his body they had already encompassed. "Let's make it official then!" The mysterious voice returned again in Zamasu's ears. Then suddenly the dark crystal ball began to rapidly crack, shattering expelling the black fog and out of it sprouted a hand made out of nothing but bone. The boney hand then quicker than lightning grabbed Zamasu by the face, two of its fingers stabbing and puncturing his eyes out. "Ahhh! No, no! Ahh-ehhh Ah gag gag..." Zamasu tried to scream in pain as the spiders reached his head and crawled into his mouth and now half empty eye holes suffocating the once revered Kai.
On an Alien World
Goten had just finished purging the planet of its inhabitants. It had taken him less than a day to take out any form of military the species had developed and only a couple hours to hunt down and kill any survivors in hiding. The demented child could now be seen wondering around in a castle that once housed the king of this world. The planet's red sun rays filtered into the palace through the broken glass that was made by Goten's earlier attacks. He bore an expression that emoted boredom and annoyance as he looked around at the remains of the mortals he had just exterminated. "I'm really getting the hang of this! Wahoo! Zamasu will be so proud! I am the god of justice!" Goten declared in triumphant joy at his accomplishments. "I'm number one! I'm-splat-huh?" Goten's celebration was cut short when his foot stepped onto the head of an alien child's corpse. The sight of this in Goten's eyes made the boy gasp as some of his old personality resurfaced feeling a great deal of guilt and sadness over what he was doing. However his face re hardened with resolve before he could shed a single tear. "There lives mean nothing, there mortals that are destroying the universe, they must be destroyed" Goten stated to himself resolutely. "I do this to please my master and avenge everyone I loved! And someday I will have my revenge on you son Goku! You hear me?! Vengeance shall be mine! I am Goten! The grim reaper of justice! Ah ha ha ha ha!" Goten bellowed out in an insane evil laugh his black eyes turning grey as umibozu enhanced his rage and further diluted his already fractured psyche. As Goten laughed however another lower key sinister laugh was starting to be heard from an unknown source. Goten's ears perked up to hear it once his own laugh had died down enough, the boy left puzzled, was that just his laugh with echos? Umibozu had made him see and hear weird things since he had merged with the demon so it wasn't the craziest conclusion. "The grim reaper of justice? He he heh...now I've heard everything" The voice suddenly said after it halted its laughter. Startled by the gravely voice Goten unnerved scanned the hallway for the mortal he clearly missed speaking to him but found no one there. Unknowingly to the confused child a shadow with no earthly source passed right behind him. As Goten rechecked to make sure he hadn't missed anything he noticed the rays of the planet's sun changing color. Goten ran to look out of one of the broken windows just in time to see the previously small red sun to turn a ghostly green, grow larger to the point he could almost see its surface and emitting various noises. "Huh? What's up with the sun? I'm pretty sure stars aren't supposed to do that" Goten questioned himself bewildered by the strange phenomenon. "There are forces in the universe beyond your imagination Goten" The voice spoke again only when Goten turned around to find the source, this time he saw something, a pair of eyes glowing the same color the planet's sun was, the rest of the being hidden by a dark area at the end of the hallway. "Though that being said a lot is beyond your imagination as it is rather feeble so perhaps that's not much for me to say" the mysterious entity said insultingly belittling Goten. Goten, not registering what the entity had said just shrugged his shoulders and smirked slightly. "Whoops I guess I missed one" Goten deduced raising his hand to point at the man, charged up a ball of black ki and fired it. The entity however partially revealing itself to be one wearing a black cloak merely swiped the ball away with one of its cloak covered hands like it was just a housefly. The boy was left flabbergasted by this. Since he had acquired the power of umibozu and became a god nobody except Zamasu had been able to survive any of his attacks let alone parry them away unharmed. His befuddled expression soon morphed into an excited one getting into a proper fighting stance his fangs glistening with predatory anticipation. "Alright, finally someone harder to kill! Your definitely different from the rest of the puny ants of this planet" Goten complemented the stranger smugly. "Well your not wrong, but your not right for the reasons you think" The stranger stated cryptically. "Who are you?" Goten asked very curious as to the identity of the stand out opponent. "Really? You seriously don't know what I am?" The figure asked in a deadpan tone as if he expected Goten to know him. "Should I?" Goten countered cockily. The cloaked figure let out a very deep tired sigh. "You mortals and your persistent ignorance of me and my work is as baffling as it is infuriating" The figure quoted ominously with a slight growl to its speech. For Goten however, all the troubled boy heard was the word mortal and he went deaf to everything else said as his anger bubbled up. "Hey who are you calling a mortal!? I'll have you know I am a god!" Goten furiously cemented insulted that this lowly insect dared to call him one of the disgusting mortals he had recently severed ties with. "Huh, are gods normally children infused with demons?" The man questioned in a a fake curious manner now appearing behind Goten startling the child. "Wha?! How-when did you get over there?!" Goten interrogated the man half freaked out, he didn't see or even hear him move. "Heh heh I think your in a need of a better title, might I suggest, Refuse?" The man suggested in a condescending tone. "Refuse? What the hell does that mean?" Goten asked befuddled by the figure's suggestion. "It means no value, something that isn't needed, or wanted, bottom line, you should not be here" The figure answered in a serious stern voice. "Say what?!" Goten shouted enraged by the insult as he threw a punch at the figure's hooded face. However instead of maiming the man like Goten intended, the punch went through the man's face like he had just punched air. "Wha? Grrr! Ahhh!" Goten cried as he went for a kick but this time the man caught it with his hand. The demon child trying freeing his foot but the man's grip was too strong, not showing an once of struggle to keep hold of his foot. Turning frustrated, Goten thrashed his other three limbs at the man but all his punches and kicks phased right through him, at some point Goten was partially taken over by umibozu, his skin turned pale grayish and his eyes became soulless looking pitch black with white glowing dots inside increasing his savagery and power but this did nothing. "Impossible! How can he be holding me and be intangible at the same time?!" Goten thought flabbergasted and panicking in his head. The boy kept desperately flaying around to free himself until the man simply let Goten go which caused him to be hurl himself into the wall from the abrupt release, making the possessed child fall out of his demonic state. "You are nothing but a tiny remnant of a dead universe that you miraculously escaped sharing the fate of due to the intervention of a cumbersome Kai" the figure stated matter of factly, his glowing green eyes flickering brighter. Goten's eyes widened realizing that this man knew his past, something only he and Zamasu could have known. "How-how do you know that?" Goten asked fearfully now really starting to doubt if he could best this opponent with all the strength, intangibility and knowledge he seemed to possess. "But what neither of you false gods realized was that no one can escape me, sooner or later, I claim all" the figure said menacingly as he sleeked both of his hands out of the black cloak revealing them to have no skin at all, they were made of nothing but bone. Goten's eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sight. "What are you?!" Goten screamed at the figure out of a combination of fear and anger. "Death!" The figure now identified as Death yelled out revealing its skull face, the glowing green eyes now showing to be within skull eye holes. The demonic child was left aghast at the revelation of whom or what he had encountered, the personification of death itself. After a few moments of sheer terror however Goten's face morphed into a thoughtful one and then changed again into an insane smile laughing. One of Death's skull eyes somehow creaked open wider upwards as if he was cocking an nonexistent eyebrow. "Oh is that all?! Ha! You don't scare me Mr Grim Reaper! I'm a god and you know what that means?! I am immortal! I can't die!" Goten boasted triumphantly thinking that he had absolutely nothing to worry about from Death. "Heh heh heh that's funny because your buddy Zamasu has said the same thing so many times I stopped bothering to count and well..." Death laughed at Goten's foolishness and naïveté as he reached into his cloak and with one swift pull and a swing he showed off the corpse of Zamasu. The unsightly scene sent Goten into a whirlwind of shock, confusion and sadness. "Zamasu! Nooo!" Goten screamed tears rapidly forming and streaming down his face as he ran towards Death who nonchalantly dropped the corpse just in time for Goten to catch it in his arms. "Zamasu! Zamasu! Wake up! You can't be dead!" Goten screeched at the top of his lungs begging for Zamasu to respond and prove his immortality he had heard about but it did no good. Staring into Zamasu's bite covered body and half gouged out lifeless eyes it soon sunk in for Goten that his mentor, savior and only companion he had in the entire multiverse was gone. "Zamasu...this-this doesn't make any sense! He told me gods can't die! H-how can he possibly..." Goten's words failed him as his mind proposed an answer to his inquiry, did Zamasu lie to him? "Your surprised?" Death confirmed appearing next to Goten much to the latter's surprise, both at Death's speed as well as it seemingly reading his mind. "Considering he lied to you before when you first met you really should have been expecting that" Death pointed out referencing to when Zamasu was staying in the woods for a month before the Tournament of Power telling Goten that he was a superhero on a secret mission instead of just telling him that he was a Supreme Kai in training from another timeline studying mortals. Goten gasped in realization after his mind recalled that fact. "What to know what else he lied to you about?" Death asked Goten as he levitated closer to the boy raising one of his hands and pointer finger. Before Goten could think about the question Death decided for him by placing his pointer finger onto Goten's head and in that moment transferred some of the last memories Zamasu had before he died. In them he was reliving every moment he had spent with the Kai, however this time Goten could hear Zamasu's thoughts as the events transpired. There were also a few a memories of Zamasu being alone when Goten wasn't with him. And one by one they revealed the truth about Zamasu, he had always hated mortals and had gone to earth not to inspect them but instead to see if he couldn't utilize Goku as a tool to wipe them all out, the injuries that he had told Goten about was just a means to gain the child's trust so he'd take him directly towards his father. Though his friendship with Goten did actually manage to convince Zamasu that mortals were not inherently evil this didn't last long as the tournament catastrophe reinforced and confirmed that belief. And through some sick twisted sense of humor and justice Zamasu decided to use Goten as his weapon for Project Zero Mortals. The most heartbreaking moment of the whole revelation was that in the memory of when he was about to be baptized and he had shown hesitation to go through with it he heard Zamasu's thoughts and learned that his supposed savior and friend fully intended to kill him if he refused. With a startled gasp the visions stopped, Goten fell to his hands and knees barely feeling the scratch made on his forehead by Death's finger. "I... I don't believe it...Zamasu's been using me" Goten realized shuddering raising his hands up to his face. They appeared clean at first but after a quick eye blink their cleanliness was revealed to be a mild hallucination and they were in fact tinted red all over with blood. "Which means what he said about mortals was wrong...and I...oh no...no! What have I done?! I'm a monster!" Goten wailed tears flowing down his face in despair and pain as he realized he had destroyed at least a few billion innocent lives in the name of a deranged luny Kai and all just to get revenge on one person. No matter how warranted that revenge was, it did not justify the atrocities he had committed. Death watched Goten's mental breakdown unfold and chuckled to himself finding it amusing. "Heh heh I should make mortals have self realizations before I take their souls more often it's very entertaining" Death remarked before his eyes glowed slightly brighter and reached into his cloak bringing out a scythe"All that being said I have a job to do so the show ends here" Death declared in a getting down to business manner walking slowly towards Goten dragging and sparking his scythe on the ground. Goten gasped, his body tensed up and teary full eyes shot open with shock and terror upon hearing those words escape the reaper's mouth and heard the clang of the scythe. "No! Wait! No please! I beg you Mr Grim Reaper don't kill me! I'm so sorry for all the good mortals I murdered! I swear I'll never do it again! I can fix everything! I promise! Pretty Please!" Goten desperately begged for forgiveness and a chance to repent for his sins, hopefully by gathering the dragon balls of this timeline to wish everyone he had murdered back to life. "I care not that you killed anybody nor that most were what you call "innocent". The only thing that matters to me is that your an expired soul that has destroyed many other souls whom were not meant to die for some time. Your mortal concepts of good and evil are at most window dressings for your souls to me and I can't risk you going on and disrupting my schedule any further. Extinction is meant for those that can now only bring disorder and destruction to the greater spectrum of existence which is why I thank you thank you Goten...cause you proved my point" Death thanked Goten in a half mocking half dead serious tone raising his scythe with both of his hands over his head. Goten's pupils shrank with fear as the reaper's words sank in and he saw his scythe rising to smite him. "No! Ahhhh!" Goten screamed as he quickly rolled out of the way just as Death swung his scythe at him, conjuring up blazes of fire on the ground where the scythe skidded. Goten stood up and began running away down the castle's corpse filled corridor as the fire rapidly spread across the structure as Death raised his arms upwards. Goten kept running scared and uncertain what to do or if he could really do anything. "What am I gonna do?! Death is after me! I wish someone was here! I need help!" Goten wished in his mind. "Oh we can help you" a distorted voice abruptly said. The boy spun around and to his horror saw one of the rotting corpses of his many victims getting up. It's head was lowered until it reached eye level and then it looked up at Goten with the same pitch black with green glowing dot eyes Death had. The poor child was left hyperventilating in intense fear at the sight and it only got worse when he saw that all the corpses in the chamber were also rising some of them covered in fire all having the eyes of Death. "Help kill you" a little girl looking added in a equally distorted girly voice. "Just like you did to usss..." all the undead corpses said in unison surrounding Goten. Goten shook and sweat profusely as the corpses lumbered closer to him and then one lunched itself onto him prompting the others to do the same piling on the young demi saiyan. "No! Stop it! Please! I don't wanna die! Let me go!" Goten cried horsely doing his best to keep the undead at bay as they tried biting and scratching him. Growing more and more consumed with terror and frustration Goten went super saiyan two and let out a burst of explosive energy freeing himself from the the undead's clutches as well as blowing the entire flaming castle into bits. Seeing this as a possible opportunity to escape Goten took the time ring on his finger, concentrating on going to Earth to hopefully find this timeline's version of his family. The ring had started making a portal but then it suddenly stopped and appeared to rapidly rust and crumble apart off Goten's finger. "What?! No!" Goten screeched in disbelief. "It wouldn't have done you any good, no matter where you go, so am I" Death stated as the entity fazed into view right behind Goten. Goten only had enough time to let out a quick yelp before Death used psychokinesis to hunk the boy into the air and then struck right back down by Death's scythe appearing mid air. "Ahhhhhowww..." Goten groaned loudly in agony his back having been sliced open by Death's strike too in pain to stop himself from splashing into the lake just outside from where the castle was. The child instantly recovered himself after shooting a few feet underwater and quickly swum up to the surface. After inhaling some air Goten intended to exit the water completely only for the water to suddenly freeze solid trapping Goten's lower body in the lake. "Gah! Please! Let me live! Ack!" Goten's plead was cut short by more undead corpses that came out of thin air grabbing him by his throat plus his two arms. Another apparition of Death appeared in front of the demi saiyan as he struggled tears flowing out his eyes wordlessly pleading to Death one more time to spare him. "Sorry kid" Death denied Goten's plea shaking its head no as it took its free hand pressing the tips of his pointer finger and thumb. "Lights...Out!" Death yelled snapping his fingers. Right as Death snapped it's fingers, the planet's sun went supernova. The blast reached the planet in a matter of microseconds Goten screaming helplessly as he was incinerated along with the planet, the soul survivor of a lost universe was finally laid to rest and in Death's cold unfeeling eyes, balance and order was restored.
