Disclaimer: I don NOT own the rights to these characters or settings. Shades of Magic is my favorite book trilogy written by V.E. Schwab. Kell and Rhy are my favorite characters in these books. This was only for fun.
"It is true then?" asked Rhy.
"Yes," Kell confirmed, "it would appear that my father was Veskan and my mother half Faroan and half Arnesian."
The room was silent. The next thing Kell knew was his arms being restrained, not with limiters or iron chains, but still restrained.
Rhy final spoke once more, "Sorry friend but I have to do what is best for Arnes."
Friend? That did make sense to Kell. Rhy always called, or referred to, him as brother.
"Do what Rhy?"
A guard has forced Kell onto his knees.
"You will address the king as 'Your Majesty' " he ordered.
Kell had finally realized what was happening. He was being arrested.
Once his was calm , as much as one can be calm in this situation, he asked, "What is the charge?"
As if out of nowhere Alucard answered, "Betraying the Arnesian Crown."
Looking directly at Rhy, Kell said, "Your Majesty have known me since you were four. I would never do that to you."
Rhy only turned and began to walk away.
"Rhy I'm your brother! RHY !!!! " He shouted towards him but didn't work.
Having to accept that he had lost his brother's trust, Kell simply allowed the guards to lead him to the cells below the palace. Once inside he only laid on the cot and fell asleep.
When He woke up, Kell saw Lila's face. The ship had docked in Red London for the first time.
"Alert the king that the Night Spi- the Grey Barron has returned," Alucard instucted a servent.
Rhy was in a meeting with diplomats from Vesk and Faro when the servent entered.
"I beg your pardon Your Majesty, but the Grey Barron just arrived," the servent reported.
"Well, this is a welcomed interruption indeed," Rhy said. " If you all will excuse me, I will.be going to see my brother." Rhy didn't wait for any one to respond. He just ran off smiling.
Kell and Lila were reached the top of the palace. Rhy could tell that Kell was bothered.
"The same dream?" He simply asked.
Kell nodded.
"You will always be my brother Kell. Always," Rhy reasurred him. The four countinued to walk as the door were closed be hind them.
