Chapter 4

It was now the next day. Lloyd and Melissa were in an empty classroom, and they were still shaken up about what they did yesterday by saving that boy from getting hit by a truck, and they feared what would happen if anyone found out.

"Oh man, Lloyd, what are we gonna do?" Melissa asked her best friend worriedly. "Someone is eventually gonna find out about what we did. What's gonna happen when they do?"

"Hey, Melissa, calm down. Everything is gonna be fine," Lloyd tried to calm her down. "Look, nobody has found out about what we did yet, so we still got time to find an excuse to explain our actions."

"I hope you're right," Melissa said.

Just then, the principal spoke through the school's speakers and he didn't sound happy, "Lloyd Garmadon, Melissa Zhau, I want you both in my Office RIGHT NOW!"

Lloyd and Melissa jumped at the way he yelled and they both looked at each other with fear and worry.

At the principal's office, Lloyd and Melissa were sitting in silence as Principal Darkley gave a stern look at the two of them. Principal Darkley was a man wearing a brown suit with a red tie and he had black hair and a stern-looking face.

It was so quiet in that office and the tension was so tense, that it needed a chainsaw to cut through it. Melissa was about to open her mouth to speak.

"Don't. Say. Anything, Ms. Zhau," Principal Darkley said sternly which made Melissa close her mouth. "Now then, Lloyd, Melissa, do you two know why exactly you're both in my office?"

"No, sir," Lloyd and Melissa said in unison.

"Really, now, well then, let me tell you," Principal Darkley stood up and walked in front of the two kids. "Now, my prized student, Gene, came into my office and told me that the two of you left the school grounds yesterday to cause some mischief in Ninjago."

Lloyd and Melissa started to get concerned because they knew that Gene was the principal's prized student, and knowing that he followed them and possibly saw what they did was not looking good for them.

"W-w-well, you see, sir, we sometimes leave the school to cause some trouble in Ninjago," Lloyd said as he gave a nervous chuckle. "Is that right, Melissa?"

"Y-yeah, yeah, that's right," Melissa nervously agreed. "We prank some of the people and steal some candy from some kids and mess with the citizens."

"Now, that would be something bad to do which is what my school stands for," Principal Darkley said, but then he gave the two kids his stern glare, "But from what Gene told me, that's not all he saw. He said that he saw you two save a child from getting hit by a bus."

"O-oh, did he now?" Lloyd said nervously as he and Melissa started sweating bullets.

"So, it is true, hmm," Principal Darkley said calmly, but Lloyd and Melissa knew that was not gonna last. "Tell me, Lloyd, Melissa, what is the number one rule in my school?" Lloyd and Melissa were silent because they didn't wanna answer, but then Principal Darkley slammed his fist on the table which made them jump. "Answer the question, now!"

"Do not do anything good or heroic," Lloyd and Melissa said in unison.

"And, what did you both do?" Principal Darkley asked in an angered tone.

"Did something good and heroic," Lloyd and Melissa said in unison.

"Exactly, you both have broken my number one rule," Principal Darkley said now clearly enraged. "Do you two have ANY idea what you both did?"

"W-w-we didn't mean to, sir, honest," Melissa tried to explain. "We don't know why we saved that kid."

"Yeah, she's right," Lloyd agreed nodding furiously. "Please, we promise it won't happen EVER again."

"Oh, I know it won't happen," Principal Darkley said as he glared at the two kids, "Because you two are no longer welcome in this school."

"WHAT?!" Lloyd and Melissa exclaimed.

"Let's face the facts, you little brats. You two are NOT evil at all, especially you, Lloyd," Principal Darkley said as he glared at the blond-haired kid. "You are nothing like your father. You lack the ambition to be one of tomorrow's masterminds, and I can't have no goody-two-shoes in my school."

"Please, sir, don't do this to us. We have nowhere to go," Melissa begged.

"Yeah, just give us another chance, and we'll surprise you," Lloyd pleaded.

"I highly doubt that," Principal Darkley snapped his fingers and Gene and Brad walked into the office. "Gene, Brad, get these two out of my school because they are hereby BANNED from ever stepping foot in my school ever again!"

"With pleasure," Gene said with an evil smirk.

Gene and Brad grabbed Lloyd and Melissa and dragged them both to the entrance of the school and then they threw them out, and Lloyd and Melissa landed in the mud.

"I told you, Lloyd," Gene smirked at him. "You and Melissa would be kicked out in no time."

Gene slammed the door shut, and Lloyd and Melissa were staring at the entrance and realized what had just happened. They have been kicked out of Darkley's Boarding School for Bad Children.

Hours later, it was now nighttime. Lloyd and Melissa were walking through the forest, and they were still upset with the fact that they had been kicked out of Darkley's Boarding School for Bad Kids, and now they had no idea what to do next.

Melissa let out a sad sigh, "Well, what are we gonna do now, Lloyd?"

When Melissa didn't hear a response, she stopped and turned around to see Lloyd sitting on a log looking very upset, and this made her very concerned so she went up to him.

"Lloyd, are you OK?" Melissa asked.

Lloyd just let out a sad sigh, "I give up."

"Wait, what, give up?" Melissa repeated in shock at what she had just heard. "What do you mean, give up? We can't just give up. Look, we just had a minor setback, but we can bounce back and-"

"Oh, what's the point, Melissa?" Lloyd cut her off and then stood up to look at her. "Look at us. Gene was right. Principal Darkley was right. Everyone was right. We're not evil at all, and what we did yesterday proved it." He then exhaled another sad sigh and looked down. "They were right. I'm nothing like my dad, so I think we should just give up."

Melissa just couldn't believe what she was hearing. Lloyd was willing to give up his goal just because they made a mistake in saving that kid's life, and hearing that didn't sit right with her, so something inside of her just clicked.

"No."

Lloyd gave her a confused look at what she said, "What do you mean 'No'?"

"I mean, no, we're not giving up," Melissa looked at her best friend. "Look, we made a mistake, yes, but that's no reason for us to give up. If we give up now, then that means that everyone at the boarding school wins and that they've been right all along about us."

"But Melissa-"

"No, you listen to me, Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon," Melissa cut him off now giving him a stern look. "We are NOT giving up on our goals just because of one mistake. I mean your father never gives up, does he? Did he give up when your uncle banished him to The Underworld?"

"No," Lloyd shook his head.

"Did your father give up on finding The Golden Weapons?" Melissa asked.

"No," Lloyd said now starting to realize what she was saying.

"Did your father give up on his goal to rule Ninjago in his own image?" Melissa asked as she got into Lloyd's face. "Tell me, did he give up?!"

"No, no he did not," Lloyd said in a determined tone.

"Exactly, and we shouldn't either," Melissa stood tall and made Lloyd look at her. "You are Lloyd Garmadon, the son of Lord Garmadon, and we are gonna show Darkley's Boarding School and everyone in Ninjago that they are wrong about us and show them who Lloyd Garmadon really is with me as your second in command. So, what do you say?"

Lloyd was silent for a while as Melissa's words pondered through his mind. He'd never heard her speak like that before, and for some reason, it made him feel warm inside, but he didn't know why, but he did know one thing, his father never gave up, so why should he?

"You're right, Melissa. My father never gives up, and I shouldn't either," Lloyd showed a determined look. "So, I think it's time that we show all of Ninjago how bad Lloyd Garmadon and Melissa Zhau can really be."

Hearing that made Melissa smile, "Now, that's the Lloyd Garmadon I know."

"But, before we do that," Lloyd grabbed his bag and pulled out two hoodies and paint. "We need to look the part."

They both started to customize the hoodies with the paint and utensils they had and when they finished, they put them on. Lloyd was wearing a black hoodie that had a green five on it and it was now painted with white ribs and he wore a purple belt, while Melissa was wearing a red hoodie with a purple six and it was painted with purple ribs and she donned a blue belt.

"Now, this is more like it," Melissa said admiring the hoodie she had. "Now we both look like followers to Lord Garmadon."

"Yeah, we actually do," Lloyd nodded in agreement. "Hey, uh, Melissa, thanks for giving me my confidence back. I'm really glad to have you as my best friend."

That made Melissa blush a little bit, and then she gave him a shy smile, "Heh, well, thanks, Lloyd, and I'm glad to have you as my best friend too."

"Thanks," Lloyd smiled at that. "Now, come on, let's go show Ninjago that there's some new bad kids in town."

Melissa gave a firm nod as they made their way through the forest, and they were ready to show all of Ninjago that Lloyd Garmadon and Melissa Zhau were here and they were ready to cause some trouble.

To be continued...
