Chapter 4: In The Midnight Hour
Matt was leaving Doc's office when he saw all the horses from the livery stable running down the street.
"Marshal you better come quick there's trouble in the stable" some cowboy said.
Some of Gore's men had Hank the stable man dangling from the ceiling of the stable and they were spinning him around.
Matt and the cowboy walked into the liver stable and saw Hank dangling.
"Marshal get me down out of here" Hank said.
"Untie the rope. Alright now just take it easy Hank we'll get you down" Matt said.
Then all of the sudden Matt heard a girl screaming no. He rushed out of the stable to go see what was happening.
Some of Gore's gang was messing with The Fraser girl trying to drag her into a dark alley. Gore's men and Matt got into a fight and one of them was gonna kill Matt till Gore rode up.
Matt stumbled away from the men and into the waiting crowd where he saw Gore's horse and got an idea so he got on the horse and someone tried to get him off but he kicked them in the chest and rode off.
Matt came riding around the corner and did not intend on stopping but some of Gore's men shot him off the horse. People started coming out of The Long Branch after hearing the gunfire. Kitty, Festus and Doc came out with the crowd and saw Matt lying on the ground. Kitty quickly ran to Matt and gently picked his head up and rested it on her lap.
" Doc you gotta do something" Kitty said.
"Nothing I can do"Doc replied.
"Doc he ain't" Festus said.
Doc took Kitty upstairs to her room and poured her a glass of whiskey.
"Come on now I want you to drink this and I will come back later with something to make you sleep" Doc said.
Kitty told the glass of whiskey out of doc's hand. While Barrens stood there watching Doc and Kitty.
