Helping You Move On

Over the next three days, or months if you were on Earth, Leo learned to control his whitelighter powers. This proved easier said than done, however. First to appear was orbing, which is the ability to move from place to place via bright lights. Leo learned quickly that you must be very precise in where you wanted to go when he orbed into the wrong living room. Sensing, or locating someone, turned out to be easier but he still ended up sensing and orbing to the wrong person. The easiest by far was healing. Gideon, his mentor, said it was because unlike the other two it was instinctual. Orbing and sensing both required a location or a specific person whereas healing did not. After learning to control his powers he was taught the history of magic, which for someone raised Catholic was enough to make one's head spin.

The hardest part Leo discovered wasn't learning to control his powers. It was not being able to contact his family. This became even more difficult when he started to feel his wife, Lilian's, daily pain. Not being able to withstand the pain anymore Leo contacted the Elders for help. Getting their okay Leo orbed into his and Lilian's apartment. The bright light from the orbs waking her instantly. "Leo? How?" she asked confused.

"It's okay Lilian you're just dreaming." Leo comforted trying not to scare her.

"What are you doing here?"

"I felt your pain."

"I miss you so much."

"I miss you too, but you need to let me go."

"How can you ask me to do that?"

"Because the grief will tear you apart."

"Are you asking me to not mourn you?"

"No, I'm asking you not to let it consume you. I'm in a good place you don't have to worry about me. Let yourself move on."

"Move on?"

"There's another love out there for you but you won't be open to it if you're still grieving."

"I don't want anyone else but you."

"Don't do that to yourself. You can't spend the next fifty, sixty years alone because of me. Promise me you'll let me go."

"I'll always love you; you know that. But I'll let you move on. If only so you can find peace. I love you."

"I love you too." Leo said kissing her for the last time.
