Baby Christopher
As promised Leo returned to the meeting spot with Baby Chris several months after introducing his parents to older Chris. "We have been waiting for you." his mom greeted as his dad and she appeared.
"I'm sorry it took so long but I was dealing with some things and couldn't be around him." Leo admitted for the first time out loud.
"Couldn't be around him?" his dad asked confused.
"Does this have to do with the other Chris?" his mom ventured.
"I couldn't save him." Leo answered, breaking down.
"Oh Angel, it's not your fault." his mom comforted pulling him close.
"No one saw that coming. But Wyatt and Chris are safe."
"Chris is dead."
"No, that version of Chris is dead. You still have Chris."
"Then why does it hurt so much?"
"Because there's no greater pain than losing a child." his dad informed him. "We went through it when you died and there were days we didn't even want to get out of bed."
"How do you get over it?"
"You don't get over something like that, but the pain does lessen with time."
"Plus you have an advantage most don't. You have his baby self to raise and keep you feeling that connection." his mom added rocking Chris.
"I didn't think of that. It just hurt being reminded of him."
"But you can't push him away. He deserves a relationship with his dad."
"Yeah, he does." Leo agreed quietly. "You're right I do have an entire lifetime to experience with this Chris." he added taking the baby from his mom. "I love you Chris." he whispered into the baby's ear. Not wanting to disturb the father/son moment Christopher and Maggie quietly disappeared.
