Corruption
A/N: This is a short update as I felt this chapter was needed before we get into the nuances of the Lestrange twins, 5E Lore and spells as well as start setting up the rest of first year and what will occur going forward. Furthermore, I wish to state that I have no intention of Lilith ever having a redemption arc or anything really "good" about her. It is my intention for her to go down paths that put her at odds with the Mistress of Ravens, Dumbledore & Tom.
Act 1: The Raven Queen of Slytherin
Chapter 7: Wandless Lessons
If Lilith had questions about Delphine's training with Marvolo Slytherin, she could clearly see the results, as her… friend? Duelling against her cousin Tonks, Delphine was skilled, but Tonks had experience and knowledge on her side and was using it. The duel itself didn't last for too long, 10 minutes at most, but none of the other students had been able to take their eyes off of the action, the others in their year across the houses had come to an understanding and that was simply, don't be on the other end of Delphine's wand.
Tonks had won, through trickery, displacement and various other forms of magical knowledge and application that Delphine simply didn't have. But being the daughter of Bellatrix Lestrange came with a certain expectation and she showed just why she was a Lestrange, and technically a member of the Black family. Tonks herself was a member of the Black family and Lilith expected that meant she was taught by Andromeda who would have had the same training Bellatrix had, not quite as extreme but still the basics and expectations of being a daughter of the House of Black.
The other first-year Slytherin's had crowded around Delphine after that class, asking her questions about her skills and where she learnt, she gave no real reply no indication. The ones in the know kept silent around the entire exchange.
Lilith had managed to slip away from everyone during their free period where some of the clubs had set up their little displays in the Great Hall and students were allowed to gain information regarding them and whether or not they would want to join the clubs.
She found her way into some unused area of Hogwarts, using her knowledge and the shadows to set up a warning system for herself before she entered an abandoned classroom deep in the dungeons. Hela flew off of her shoulders and then her body morphed in a burst of shadows and feathers.
The Mistress of Ravens peered through her mask down at Lilith who knelt obediently, shadows dancing at her fingertips. She took a few moments to use her power to briefly scan the surrounding area detecting any foreign magic that may interfere with them and finding none. Mystra's presence in this world was very much finite and it would seem that most of these wand wavers had barely any magic from their ancestral pact with the goddess of magic. Something that benefitted her and her champion.
"Lilith, this place is perfect for taking our lessons to the next level. It is saturated in ancient magic yet none of the modern wand waving magics will interfere with what I teach you. Now we will begin your journey into the arcane magics. Starting with two spells I expect you to master within the month, you have ample subjects to test them on after all. We will begin with the Sleep and Spook spells. Sleep will allow you to put any number of weak-willed creatures into a forced sleep, while spook forces any attacking creatures to feel intense bouts of fear when looking at you. We will begin testing on these mere rats and should I be satisfied; you will begin on your classmates."
"Yes Mother."
Lilith's spare time for the rest of the week and the one following was spent slipping away from her house-mates and everyone else, traversing the same shadowed path and having her mother watch over as she cast the two spells over and over again on these rats, her wands were placed on the table behind the Mistress of Ravens. While it allowed magic to come to her easier, her mother had simply said "what will you do if you have neither wand available to you nor you're about to be killed?". All of her training would be without a wand, but she found that during classes with her wand her magic flowed easily and without much force or control being required. She would later practice the same school spells without her wands in her own time away from training.
Then she started practicing on her classmates, Gryffindor's who eyed her with suspicion and malice suddenly felt an oncoming sense of fear as they looked at her and would flee. Studios Ravenclaw's would fall asleep in the library where she was studying despite not being tired.
The fires of Avernus burnt bright and hot, even as Zariel and her forces continued the battle with legions of soldiers. The devils of the cosmos, like many of the other almost God-like deities had caught onto the same thing that many of them did. The absence of the Mistress of Ravens and the increased activity of her enemies as well as the almost constant presence of her current champion ferrying souls.
Archdevils and Archdemons constantly at war, taking souls from the realms and using them to fuel their legions of disposable soldiers. And even then, the devils have all noticed another presence alongside the Mistress of Ravens. A girl, mortal, for the moment but she contains a touch of the domain of death making her a highly valued individual to all domains. It was whether or not they could reach her for the briefest of moments the Mistress of Ravens was absent, that they could have mere moments to influence her.
Lilith, a name that suited the girl. Many already has seen her potential and are frustrated at the claim already lain upon her by the Domain of Death. However, as is with these unique beings, she didn't solely belong to the Domain of Death. There was something within the girl that the others could sense, an emptiness that could hold a sliver of the girl's true power. And that is why many tactics from the different Deities were being revised and the girl taken into account. A cold war between the realms for the one potential weapon that could strike its enemies from existence entirely. It was now imperative that their followers and agents make contact with the girl in her realm, when the Mistress of Ravens was not around.
It was for this reason, and that the girl had a direct connection to the Raven Queen's magic, that Orcus sought out one of his most powerful subjects; Vecna. The human he aided in ascending to being the first lich and now he had tasked Vecna with finding a way into the girls' realm to get to her and make her one of his followers. Once he had the girl and her direct line to the Raven Queen, he would use it to finally take over the Domain of Death as the most powerful deity of Death.
"My lord, there will be countless others attempting to reach the girl. Many champions may be at the same level as I am. Are you sure you want me to be working on finding a way through to her realm?" Vecna asked hesitantly.
"Much like yourself, Vecna, this girl is destined for more. And would you argue with how I've guided you?" Orcus growled.
"No, of course not. I was merely stating that the others will also be after her leaving them slightly more vulnerable while their efforts are focussed," Vecna replied.
"And if they get the girl then whatever attack we have made will be undone," Orcus slammed his fist against his throne crushing a skull. Orcus would be first, he had to be first lest his power lose out to the Raven bitches' again, no, with the girl under his influence he would be able to kill the Matron of Ravens and take over as the God of Death.
