What if Maddy had returned at the beginning of Season 3? A review of the season with Maddy involved but also the drama of their new relationship, and discovering about this new compulsion they both have that makes them act so differently with each other.
A/N: Lets ignore the fact that I am a full on adult writing about a kids show and enjoy it shall we? I'm pretty much just making this up as I go along and the chapters will get longer as I get into it, so bear with me. Any reviews would be greatly appreciated.
Chapter 1: Maddy.
When the missave from Segolia had arrived to tell them that she could go home, Maddy was speechless, but that was nothing compared to how she felt now. As she stared at the British coastline drawing ever nearer it felt that if she were to open her mouth at all, her throat would close up and she would forget how to breathe.
Her parents stood a little way back to the side to give her some space as the ferry started to dock. The first thing she did was look over the side of the boat and onto the waiting area below. There was no one there. Maddy knew that this was understandable because they still hadn't made any contact with her friends yet. The confirmation of her assumption caused a brief respite from the tension that had been brewing since they'd boarded the boat. Unfortunately, she couldn't help the bitter feeling of disappointment that still clouded her thoughts.
Soon, she and her parents were ready to leave with what little luggage they had scrounged together in Canada. They had finally made it back onto home soil, and Maddy breathed out a sigh of relief that their absence had only been very short.
As the sea air shifted and changed direction slightly, a sharp scent clouded her nostrils making her head whip up. She had only seconds to take in the form running towards her before she was met with the sight of someone's t-shirt as they collided with her body. Cradling her in a fierce hug.
Rhydian.
Her brain didn't seem able to create any other cognitive thoughts. Unconsciously she reached up and buried her nose into his neck to reassure herself of that familiar smell of home. Reason returned as she heard his sigh of response, causing her to drop her bag and tightly wrap her arms around his waist.
It was like all of her senses were on overdrive. Smell presided, calling deep to whatever instincts ran throughout her to tell her she was home again. Then hearing kicked in and the sound of gulls faded to focus just on their combined breaths and rapid heartbeats. Her hands grappled onto the rough texture of his coat and she leaned back to look at his face.
He looked amazing. Those twinkling eyes stared down at her as if into her very soul. They highlighted the huge bare tooth smile that spread from ear to ear. He had grown a beard. That came as a bit of a shock. It was only a small one from not shaving for a couple days, but still, it changed the shape of his face somewhat.
Something struck deep inside of her that told Maddy that she liked the beard very much and she grew curious to what it would feel like against her skin. Surprised by her train of thought, she blinked and looked up into his eyes and spotted a very similar look to what she must have been sporting. All pretences forgotten, he leaned down and…
"MADDY!" Two other bodies suddenly collided with their still intertwined forms, causing them to break apart as Maddy was swept into hugs with both Tom and Shannon. With the spell broken her surroundings came back to her. Immediately reminded of her parents who stood a few feet behind her, she gave Rhydian a small smile and turned to Tom and Shannon to ask about how they had got here so fast.
To her delight, she soon felt Rhydian's calloused hand envelop her own. Grasping on tightly as if just checking to see if she was still there.
