Future Potter-Prince's
Chapter One: Children from the Future
Harry was sitting in the Great Hall, trying to eat breakfast on the first day of classes of his sixth year of Hogwarts. He was sore, despite it being a good few weeks since he left the Dursleys and their loving treatment. It also didn't help that his stomach was cramping something fierce, and his head was pounding from all the noise in the room.
He was just standing up to leave; having decided that he had had enough of, well, everything; when a tornado of gold, silver and purple, powerful magic erupted in the middle of the Hall causing more chaos throughout as people screamed in fright and the teachers stood with their wands at the ready.
Harry felt his magic and instincts burst to life, a connection building between him and the tornado as the magic disappeared, only for four young children to be left in the middle of the room.
A connection that he had been dreaming about since he heard he was a bearer.
The four children (Harry didn't think he had ever seen children so beautiful) were clearly terrified, the teachers faltered, other than Dumbledore anyway, their wands dropping to their sides in confusion. And the students were silent. But Harry just felt hope, and love, and the need to protect them coursing through his veins. He also noticed that Professor Snape had an awed look in his eyes, though he tried to remain impassive.
"Hello, dear children, may I ask who you are and how you got here?" Dumbledore asked, his wand lowering slightly, but not all the way.
Harry started making his way towards them, needing to be close to them.
"H-hello, sir. Erm, I am Phoenix James Potter-Prince, this is my younger brother, Leo Severus Potter-Prince, my younger sister, Aurora Lily Potter-Prince, and my other sister, Remi Eileen Potter-Prince. We are the children of Lord Severus Tobias Potter-Prince, and Lord Harry James Potter-Prince. I don't know how we got here," said the oldest of the children who looked about ten, he had Harry's bird nest of black hair and Sn-Severus' deep black eyes.
Harry heard gasps sparking up throughout the room, but his attention was mostly on his children, his future children. At least, it was until in his periphery he saw Dumbledore wave his wand at them and a spell heading their way. He jumped in front of them with a powerful protego bursting from his wand, causing the spell to ricochet and hit the floor a few yards away. A few pieces of stone broke free from the floor and flew a further few yards away.
"Harry, my boy, what are you doing?" Dumbledore said, his grandfatherly voice tinted with a little bit of anger.
"Protecting them," Harry said, his shield never dropping, even as Severus stepped beside him and also cast a shield.
"I wasn't going to hurt them, my boy. I was just going to take them somewhere to question them,"
"Why would you need to question them?"
"Because, my boy, I think you understand what is going on at the moment. Who's to say that this isn't a trick?"
"Right, because Voldemort would pick four random kids off the street and send them here to pretend to be mine and Snape's children. For what purpose would he do that exactly? It is besides the point, though, because I know they are telling the truth, and I believe the Professor does also?" Harry looked at the man beside him and grinned at the nod he received.
"How can you possibly know they are telling the truth?" Dumbledore said, his eyes almost glaring at them.
"Because I am a bearer," a lot of the students, and even some of the teachers gasped, "And because I can feel the bond that forms between a bearer and their children,"
"I can also feel the bond that forms between magical parents and their children," Severus added, a small smile quirking at his lips.
"Harry," Ron yelled from the Gryffindor table, "You can't be saying you have children with Snape?" he sounded and looked revolted.
"Clearly I do in the future, Ronald," Harry said.
"But what about Ginny?"
"What about Ginny?" Harry asked, his eyes wide in shock.
"You're in love with her. You're supposed to marry her," Ron said, pointing at his sister who seemed to be putting on the waterworks as she gave Harry puppy dog eyes.
"I'm not in love with her, Ron. I never have been and never will be. What part of 'I'm a bearer' do you not understand?"
"Mummy," Remi said from behind him and Harry spun around, awe shining in his features as he knelt in front of them and took Remi into his arms, holding her close.
"Hey, baby. It's okay, I have you," Harry whispered as he placed a kiss on her dark hair that Harry could see also had hints of red in it.
She had his eyes, too.
"Severus, my boy, you need to think about this. How could what they are saying be true? You and Harry both have your roles to play in this war. You can't possibly do that if this supposed future comes to fruition," Dumbledore said and Harry tensed.
"We don't know when they were born, Albus. They could have been born after the war, after Harry and I had completed our roles. In fact, they probably were, given that Harry and I wouldn't dream of bringing a child into the world if the war was still happening," Severus said as he stepped back towards them, never lowering his shield, "Especially considering our roles in this war. It would be far too dangerous, don't you think?" Severus placed his hand on Harry's shoulder and Harry relaxed slightly, and did so even more, smiling as the other three kids came and held onto him and Remi.
Then he felt a tug at his navel, a spinning sensation, and then he was on the floor, the kids clinging to him, of a completely different room. Severus squeezed his shoulder for a second before marching over to a portrait covered door and waving his wand over it, muttering words Harry couldn't quite understand but based on the powerful magic that flowed over him he sensed that Severus was adding to the wards of the rooms.
When he was done Severus came back over to them, kneeling on the floor opposite Harry and looking at him and the kids in awe, love and happiness shining in his dark eyes.
"Daddy, I thought we weren't supposed to use the Portkey?" Leo asked, confused as he went to Severus, sitting on his knees and leaning into his chest as Severus' arms wrapped around his small body.
"Why wouldn't we use a Portkey, Leo?" Harry said, smiling as Severus looked at the young boy in his arms in awe.
"Because of the baby in your belly, mummy," Aurora said, laughing slightly as Harry and Severus looked at her in shock. She went over to join her twin on Severus' knees and Harry smiled as the older man wrapped his arm around her, holding her and her brother close.
"Right. Well, how old are you all?" Severus asked.
"I'm ten," Phoenix said from his place on Harry's knee. Remi, who was still clinging to Harry, perched on his other knee.
"We're seven," the twins on Severus' knee said together.
"I'm three," Remi said into Harry's neck and Harry rubbed her back gently.
"And the baby will be here in five months," Phoenix said cheerfully.
Aurora nodded, a beaming smile on her face, "We are going to have a baby brother,"
"Daddy likes to joke that this baby will be the last, but then mummy tells him you have to beat the Weasleys in numbers," Leo said, a little giggle escaping.
"Uncle George thinks mummy is trying to create at least a couple of quidditch teams," Aurora giggled.
"And uncle Fred says daddy is whipped and will do whatever mummy wants," Phoenix said, grinning, "Why do you whip daddy, mummy?"
Harry blushed and was surprised to see that Severus was blushing also, "I am sure I don't whip your daddy, Nix. It is just something people say sometimes, it doesn't really mean I whip him," Harry explained, trying not to sound too embarrassed.
"Then what does it mean, mummy?" Leo asked, his little head tilting to the side in thought.
"It means… when a person is so in love with their partner that they will do anything for them," Harry said quietly, trying to imagine what it would be like to have that kind of love in his life and so very happy that his future self found it.
Even if it was with someone he had never really considered as an option, what with their past and how Severus was treated by Harry's family.
But even despite all that Harry found himself wanting to make it work between them. He just couldn't fathom a world where he didn't have these children in his arms. His children. He didn't want a world without them.
Yes, he had only known them for about half an hour or so, but he wanted them more than anything else. So, whatever it took, he was determined to learn about the man in front of him, and he knew, just looking at him with his arms around two of their children and the look of love and awe in his face, that he could fall in love with that man. Eventually.
"Mummy, I'm sleepy," Remi said, and he looked down, concern in his eyes, to find that she was practically asleep already.
"You feeling okay, baby?" Harry asked, lifting his hand up to feel her forehead, but she didn't have a temperature or anything that he could tell.
"Mhm, just sleepy," she whispered and Harry looked at Severus for help, although in his periphery he could see the others looking at her worriedly also which didn't help his concern.
Severus looked at her in concern also, "I suppose it has been a rather long morning for us all, hasn't it?" the kids nodded, "How about we get some sleep for a few hours?"
"Can we sleep with you and mummy, daddy?" Leo asked quietly, a pleading look in his eyes, which, despite the blush on both Severus and Harry's cheeks they couldn't deny.
So Severus led them to his bedroom, Harry taking the time to look around the man's quarters. It was nice, homely even. It was clearly in the dungeons due to the large window in the living room that showed the inside of the lake and cast a pale green-blue light over the place. The furniture was a mix of deep greens and blacks, as expected, but it looked nice. There was even a small kitchenette and dining area. As well as bookshelves stacked full with books.
The bedroom was the same, a massive window looking out into the lake, a black bed frame and deep green sheets, pillows and duvet covering the larger than king-sized bed. There was plenty of room for them all to lay on it comfortably.
Severus transfigured the older three's clothes into pyjamas and the three climbed into the centre of the bed, laying next to each other comfortably.
Harry tried to place Remi on the bed also but she clung to him tighter.
"No mummy, don't leave me," she said sleepily.
"I'm not going anywhere, baby, I promise," he said, holding her close and rubbing her back to try and comfort her, his concern growing by the second.
He smiled at Severus slightly as the man transfigured her clothes and ran his fingers through her hair gently, worry in the dark eyes.
"Is she okay?" Harry whispered.
"I will check them all over when we wake up, just to be on the safe side," Severus said quietly in return, his lips quirking at the sides slightly as he leaned down and placed a kiss on Remi's head.
Severus transfigured Harry's and his own clothes into pyjamas and went round to the other side of the bed and crawled in, pulling Phoenix close to him, and holding Leo's hand. Harry smiled as he climbed into the bed himself, Lyra not letting go of him even in her sleep, and he held Aurora's hand as she slid closer to him.
The kids were the first asleep. Severus and Harry watched over them, smiling and yet concerned.
"We need to find out how they got here. Our future selves must be worried out of their minds. Especially with the pregnancy," Harry said. He had read up on bearer pregnancies as soon as he found out he was one. He knew how delicate they could be. He knew that stress, especially a lot of stress, just wasn't good. And he imagined that his children going missing would be a rather large stressor.
"Indeed," Severus said, looking at Harry with awe and worry in his eyes, "We also need to talk, just the two of us,"
Harry looked at him with knowing eyes, his lips twitching slightly, "I know. And we will. But know that I am okay with this,"
"How can you possibly be okay with this?" Severus asked, confusion in his eyes.
"Well, I imagine, since my future self married you and had kids with you, is still having kids with you apparently, that, first of all, I grow to love you, and second of all, not all is as it seems when it comes to you. Which, I figured out a while ago anyway. In any case, we will talk, and we will get to know each other, properly, without any of the masks we wear, or preconceived notions about the other person. I mean, I wouldn't marry or have kids with someone that I don't love, or who doesn't love me, or won't love our children. Are you okay with this?"
"I am," Severus said, smiling slightly.
"Good," Harry said before gasping as a particularly harsh cramp ripped through his stomach and he curled in on himself slightly.
"Are you alright?" Severus asked, concern tightening his features.
"Yeah, just a cramp," Harry grimaced.
"Would you like a pain reliever?"
"Please," Harry nodded and Severus silently summoned one to him, passing it to Harry who sat up slightly, Remi still clutching at him, and gulped it down, sighing in relief as he placed the vial on the bedside table and laid back down.
"How long have you been cramping for?" Severus asked, Harry's heart couldn't help but flutter at seeing the concern in the older man's eyes. No one had really cared that much about him before. Enough for them to be worried about the pain he was in.
"Since about three o'clock this morning," Harry said, "I am just thankful that I don't bleed as well. That would be rather awkward in the dorms," Harry yawned, his exhaustion finally getting the better of him.
"Get some sleep, Harry," Severus said.
Harry nodded, his eyes drooping slowly. It wasn't long before he joined his children in sleep.
