Chapter One: One Beautiful World

Hanna Marin has been lying in the hospital bed, with a cast on her leg from being hit by a car. She didn't see the driver but she is pretty sure who it was, it was the same person who wrote on Ezra's car at Mona's party, the same person who was suspected to be after her and her friends. Noel Kahn was A, he has been harassing them for weeks now and she was ready to tell her friends. If only she was allowed visitors right now, only family. Her mother is sitting in the chair next to her, comforting her daughter, ready to make the person who hit her pay for their actions. Ashley looks at her daughter, "I'm so relieved all you sustained was a broken leg, you don't know how lucky you are, Hanna," she begins to tell her daughter, as Hanna looks at her. "I called your father, I told him you were in the hospital," Hanna reacts to what her mother just said. "You what?" she says, while her mother tries to explain. "Hanna, it's your father, he has a right to know," she tells her. Hanna sits up a little and looks at her mother, and the door. "Has he?" she begins to ask. "He's only called," Ashley informs her. "Sorry, honey," she comforts her as best as she could. "I do have some good news," she says, gaining Hanna's attention, trying to make her feel better. "The doctor said you'll be able to go home soon, and you can have visitors today," as she says that Hanna gets happy. "I can see my friends; can I call them now?" she gets so excited. "I called them already, they'll be here after school, Han," Ashley tells her. "Mom, you should be at work, I'll be ok, I'll catch up on my soap operas while you're gone," Hanna says while her mother checks her watch on her wrist, then looks at Hanna. "My lunch break is almost over, if you need anything, call me," she says standing up and walking towards the hospital room door. "Ok, mom," Hanna says as she watches her mother leave the room, Hanna grabs the remote control to the television and turns it on, she starts flipping through the channels and lands on her favorite soap opera, One Beautiful World, and begins to watch the show.

As Michaela, a beautiful young twenty-three-year-old stepped off the plane and onto Rosewood soil, she knew her life was about to come back into play. She left this town so many years ago to start fresh in California, and she made a change in her life. She started acting and did a few guest spots on shows, she even did a few movies. Her favorite role was on a soap opera that she plays on called One Beautiful World, she portrayed the roles of Aydan Cole and Dominique Hampton, two women who were twins separated at birth. For a second, she didn't feel the little hand grab at her big hand, "Mom," a little voice called out breaking her from her thoughts. "Yes, honey," she says looking down at the little girl she has also been raising while working. "Are we home?" she asks, Michaela takes a deep breath and answers her. "Yes, we are," and with those words said Michaela walks to the baggage claim to collect their luggage and then outside of the airport to collect a cab. She wasn't sure what was going to happen after today, how her family was going to react to everything, but she knew it had to start.

When the cab pulled up to her family's house, Michaela took a deep breath, she didn't see any cars, but she was still nervous. Shay looks up at her mother, "Mommy, you're doing it again," she tells her, "What's that honey?" she says, still holding in her breath. "Not breathing," Michaela lets out her breath. "Do you need help with your luggage, ma'am?" the cab driver asks her, she looks at him. "Yes, please," she says and gets out of the cab, her daughter in tow. She stands there and watches as the five-year-old runs to the front door, Michaela pays the driver and grabs their suitcases, and drags them to the front door. The driver gets back into his car and drives off. After she parks the suitcase on the porch, Michaela digs into her pockets for the house key, praying that the locks haven't been changed since she left. When she places the key into the lock, she was happy it fit and opened the door. "Mom," she calls out as she walks into the house, leaving the luggage where it's at. "Dad," nothing. "Han," still nothing. Shay walks into the house with her mother. "No one's home?" her daughter asks her, a little confused. "Doesn't look like it," she says. "Let's bring our stuff in and figure out what we're going to do," she adds.

At the hospital, Hanna watched TV until her friends showed up. Mona was the first to arrive, looking flawless like usual. "Hanna, this is so tragic," she says looking at the cast. "But we can make this a fashion do, instead of a don't," she says trying to make her friend feel better. "Mona, you're like the fairy godmother in disguise," she says already feeling better. "So how many visitors have you had?" Mona begins to pry. "Just my mother, I wasn't allowed any other visitors until today," Hanna tells her friend. "So, you haven't seen the others yet?" she asks her, just as Spencer busts into the room. "Mona, we told you to wait for us," she says as Emily and Aria come in behind her. "I can't help it if I'm faster in heels," Mona says, sitting down next to Hanna. "I'm surprised you even came with them," Hanna lets out a small laugh. "How are you feeling?" Emily asks, concerned about her friend. "I'm fine, fortunately, it was just my leg," she tells her friends. "I'm glad you're ok, Han, I'm here to support you," Mona says trying to comfort her friend and Spencer rolls her eyes at Mona's response. But Hanna's friends needed to know what she saw, and Hanna was ready to tell them. She looks at her friend, thinking of what to tell her. "Mona, hon, could you do me a favor and go get me some yogurt from the cafeteria? I'm really hungry," she says, trying to get her to leave. "I'm asking my best friend," Mona looks at her friend. "I'll do that for you since are my best friend," she says standing up and leaving Hanna's room. Hanna waits a minute when Mona leaves to tell them what she saw. "Noel is A," she says, looking at her friends. "I saw him in action, he was writing on someone's car," as she tells them they all freak out. "Are you extremely positive? We can't just finger someone and be wrong," Aria asks her friend, also trying to see what else she saw.

"I saw him, it was Noel, I just didn't see whose car it was and if there was anyone inside, I don't remember," she tells her friends. "Well, I think that we should find a way to make sure its Noel before we start accusing him," Aria tells her friends again. "Aria's right, we don't want to get someone in trouble if it wasn't them," Spencer agrees with them. Emily walks on the other side of the bed and looks at Hanna. "Did you see who hit you? Was that Noel?" Em asks her friend, concerned. "I don't remember that either, it's weird, because I remember everything else but those important parts like that, I'm hoping we'll find out," she tells them just as a nurse walks into the room. "Good afternoon, Ms. Marin, how are you feeling?" she asks while she walks by Hanna and just starts checking her vitals and stuff. "I'm good, glad my friends are here," she tells her nurse, Bonnie, she's an older woman who's really nice. "Well, just to let you ladies know visitation hours end at 7, but as long as your quiet you can stay until 10," she tells them, she then looks at Hanna. "Ok, Ms. Hanna, everything seems good. The doctor was thinking of keeping you for one more night before we let you go home," she looks at Hanna. "One more night? I'm ready to sleep in my own bed," Hanna complains a little. "One more night isn't that bad," nurse Bonnie tells her. Just as Mona walks into the room with the yogurt from the cafeteria. "Well, Ms. Hanna, I'll let you spend some time with your friends, and I'll come back later. We can talk some more about One Beautiful World," she says and walks by the door to leave and Mona walks closer to her friend. "For sure, Nurse Bonnie," the nurse leaves the room, and Mona hands it over. "I saw Wilden out there, have you talked to him, yet?" Mona tells her friend, as the other girls seem shocked. "I talked to him last night after I was admitted, I told him everything I could remember," she tells her friends. They all stand there, in silence as Hanna begins to snack on the yogurt in her hands, it was a Yoplait strawberry-banana flavored one. "I should get going, I have an assignment for Squidward I need to work on," Emily says announcing her reason for leaving, Aria jumps on the same bandwagon. "I should go to, same assignment," she tells them. "Bye, Han," the girls say as they leave the room as Mona sits down next to her friend and Spencer walks to the other side of the bed and sits down as well. "I'll stay for a little while, and tomorrow I'll work on getting the assignments you missed," she tells Hanna. "Thanks for staying you guys," she looks at them both. "I need some company while my mom is at work," she lets them know. She's always adored her friendships even though she was friends with Spencer longer than Mona, she appreciated Mona's friendship since both of them have had some struggles in the past with their appearances and emotional abuse from Alison.

After a long day at work, Ashley was ready to walk into the house and try to relax, she knew emotionally she was drained. She had a lot going through her head, Hanna's accident, and the financial troubles she's been going through. So, as she walked into her house, she took off her heels and placed them by the front door, she needed to sit down on the couch before she did anything. "Hello, mom," a voice comes in from the living room area, catching her attention. She almost didn't recognize that voice, she almost didn't recognize that face. "Cayla," she says walking closer to her. Michaela stands up and hugs her mother. It's been so long, and she needed to feel her mother's love again. They embrace and Ashley's soaking in all her daughter's love, she does not want to let go. "I'm…I'm so happy you're here," she says breaking apart, tears forming in her eyes. "But what brings you home?" she asks wanting to know more. Michaela wants to tell her mother everything, the truth but a lot of the truth is going to hurt her. "Where's dad? Hanna?" she asks when she realized she didn't see them, and Ashley realized that because her daughter never called or anything, she doesn't know what happened. They both sit down on the couch, as Ashley begins to tell her about Tom. "Your father and I are divorced, he's actually engaged to someone else, he's starting over," she tells her daughter. Michaela wasn't that surprised to hear that; her parents have always had a rocky relationship. She has heard the fights at night, she saw when her dad would ignore her mother and her heart would break for her. "I'm not that surprised," she says. "Where's Hanna?" she asks and gets a little more comfortable. "She's in the hospital, she has a broken leg," Ashley begins to tell her about what happened the night before with Hanna and the car accident. Michaela learning about her sister, she feels emotional that she's missed so much in the past years. She missed her sister growing up, but her mother is going to be shocked when finds out one of the reasons she came back.

"There's something I need to show you," Michaela tells her mother, standing up. "Come with me," she says leading her upstairs to her mother's bedroom. We see Shay sleeping on the bed, Ashley notices the little girl and looks at her daughter. "She's the reason I came back," she says, realizing what she needed to say next. "Mom, I was pregnant when I left," she tells her mother.
