Chapter 14: Winning Prizes
The next day, we all met up in Shadyside for painting our nails and game day. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We listened to NSYNC, 98 Degrees, Kate Bush, and Lizzo while painting our nails and playing the games. Then, we headed back to the Hillcrest Country Club in Lower Burrell one last time to get prizes. We each got a treat bag with our favorite treats and more raffle tickets to play The Lucky Duck Game, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, the Animal Shooting Game, and the Corn Hole Game. "We are hoping to win the Echo Show for a prize," Mr. Benson stated. "Valerie never liked the Echo Show," Spencer remarked. "Well, Valerie is not here anymore," Mr. Benson continued. "We need to win that Bluetooth speaker," Max stated. "That would be cool," Justin agreed. "This carnival was just like our senior year of summer band camp." "Yesterday's Amazon Fire Tablet was a wonderful idea for a prize," Henri stated. "I just have to have that." "So do I," James agreed. "Is there anything that us girls would want to win?" I asked. "Gift cards," Carly replied. "Definitely gift cards," Alex replied. "I said that we were going to have our nails painted in Shadyside yesterday, and little did we know that day would be today," Sarah stated. "It is fun to look beautiful whether just hanging out with Angel as friends or going on a date with John Paul." "We had fun on both of those days because your hair was nicely curled for a while," I stated. "Fun fact: I used to have naturally straight hair, but then it got wavier and wavier as I got older," Sarah told me. "Same with my hair," I agreed. We then waited in suspense to find out what our prizes were. It turns out that we all got what we wanted. Spencer and Mr. Benson won the Echo Show for their prize, Justin and Max won the mobile phone tablet with the Bluetooth Speaker for their prize, James and Henri won the Amazon Fire Tablet, and finally, Sarah, Carly, Alex, and I each won 2 25-dollar gift cards to spend anywhere that they wanted to in Monroeville Mall. After the last day of carnival week was over, it was time for all of us to go home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
