Mom.

Brooke's gaze was focused on Peyton's son.

The infant oblivious to anything going on.

She decided she would plan Peyton's service. Money was no object.

"He's going to be able to leave in a few days." Lucas said. As he stood beside Brooke.

Brooke glared at him.

"Look. I shouldn't of said all that stuff. I knew this was coming."

"But that doesn't make it any easier. I'm sorry." Lucas said.

Brooke took in his words. Taking a breath. The expression on her face softening.

"I'm sorry too. Leaving town was difficult back then."

"If anyone should know why it would be you."

"I don't want to waste time lingering in the past."

"My leaving town. The miscarriage. It's ancient history." Brooke proclaimed.

"We should wrap up all of this soon. You have a life to get back too." Lucas stated matter of fact.

...

The planning of Peyton's funeral. Was various agreeing to this and that. Really Brooke hated it all. But it needed to be done and the end result was beautiful.

The color theme was white black and red. It was a private service.

Peyton looked at ease. She was dressed a gown fit perfectly. Make up done.

The friend group left. One by one. Peyton was laid to rest beside her dad and her mom. This little boy was all that remained now.

Lucas. Brooke. And the baby remained.

He was fast asleep at this point.

"Peyton's lawyer reached out to me. He wants to meet." Lucas said.

When they eventually made their way over to the reception.

"I got that same call." Brooke replied.

...

Hours into the next day. Early in the morning.

Brooke and Lucas met with Peyton's lawyer.

The two were seated beside each other.

"Peyton left everything to her son. But made a note she wanted the house sold. What you do with the money is up to you."

"The biological father is named Julian Baker."

"According to what Peyton wrote down as her wishes."

"She wants the both of you to live together and raise the child as you're own." The lawyer explained.

Lucas's eyes went wide.

Brooke felt her heart leap into her throat.

"I have to make it clear. If the both of you don't want to do this."

"The child will be given to the foster care system."

"Peyton did not want Julian involved." The lawyer explained.
