Lysandre's Secret

The next day Aqua was on the train heading to school, she luckily managed to find a seat and Gatomon suggested reading something to pass the time. Aqua chose to finish reading The Alluring Dancer.

'Even when facing death, her soul was free…' Aqua reads in her head.

"She really did live a wonderful life" Arsene said with a nod.

Soon Aqua finished the book and Gatomon said "The great beautiy Carmen lived for love and passion. I suppose life without freedom is pointless. Well I don't know if I could live exactly like she did, but you learned a lot, didn't you?"

"Yeah" Aqua said nodding as she feels her Charm improve and soon they arrived at the station and she gets off to head for school.

As Aqua walks to school she overhears a conversation a Spirited Girl said "Do you ever use the study corner in the library? I always end up goofing off at home, and not many people know of it."

"But isn't the environment kind of a problem?" An Uneasy Girl asked, "Have you heard the rumours about that transfer student…?"

"Oh, her. Yeah, she used to be all anyone ever talked about…" The Spirited Girl said "But you remember, Mr. LeGume's big apology? The transfer student's kind of old news now. My recent test scores haven't been so hot… If I don't shape up, my allowance could be in danger."

Aqua sighs she was sad that the damage Gaston did was still around but happy most students aren't that concerned anymore with it.

Soon Aqua makes it into class which was with Chisa Yukisome the schools math teacher.

"It's possible to apply math even to an abstract concept like beauty." Chisa explained "The goldne ratio used in the Mona Lisa and the Parthenon is a famous example. But a different ratio has been used in Japanese art and architecture since ancient times. I'm sure you've all heard of the silver ratio."

Chisa looks around and locks onto Aqua "Now then, Aqua. Take a look at this." Aqua sits up and sees an image of two buildings, one was an old Greece building with the Golden Ratio above and the other was a Japanese building with the Silver Ratio but the number for it was a question mark. Chisa said "The golden ratio is 1:1.618, but do you know the silver ratio?"

Aqua thinks on it and said "I think it's 1:1.414."

"That's correct" Chisa said smiling and claps and shows it on the screen "You can see it's closer to a square than the golden ratio, right? One theory says it's because Asians have rounder faces then Westerners, so they prefer a similar shape. This ratio was used in thinks like ukiyo-e paintings and the pagodas at Horyuji Temple. One you should all be familiar with is B4-size paper. Those proportions are the silver ratio."

The class were amazed and impressed Crystal got it and Aqua feels her knowledge improve.

"Oh yeah, I hear that mascots that are seen as cute have faces that are closer to this ratio." Chisa addes smiling "In other words, if you use this ratio, you can make cute things."

"It is true that mascots then to have round-ish faces…" Gatomon said thinking and then sees Aqua looking at him "Huh? Why're you looking at me like that?"

"Oh, no reason" Aqua said giggling at Gatomon in his true form has a bit of a round-ish face.

Soon we come to After School and Aqua with Gatomon meets up with Uzi and Alexis at the underground walkway to discuss the plan.

"Alexis, Gatomon, we're counting on you." Uzi said to them. "Me and Aqua are banned from going there, so all we can do is wait here…"

"No, you two have something different you'll need to do." Gatomon said to them.

"What do you mean?" Uzi asked confused.

"You have to wait inside the Palace." Gatomon explained "Once the door opens, sneak in and look for some kind of control room. We need to make sure the door can't close anymore after it's open."

"I see, the sign said the controls are on that side" Aqua said getting it.

"Ohhh, I get it." Uzi said grinning "Okay, you can leave that to us!"

We come to a bit later where Alexis was in Zane's room as he was preparing the paints to use.

"To think you'd really come… I assumed you were lying when you contacted me." Zane said with a smile.

"I'm sorry it was so sudden." Alexis said awkwardly.

"Oh, it's not a problem." Zane said to her. "But as I told you yesterday. Sensei will be returning in about twenty or thirty minutes. So, um…. I'm sorry if that causes some anxiety on your part."

"That's why I'm here today, damnit." Alexis said under her breath.

"What was that?" Zane asked looking at her.

"Oh no, it was nothing!" Alexis said giggling a bit.

"By the way…" Zane said looking at her concerned "Have you gained some weight?"

We then see Alexis who was in layers and layers of clothes which makes her look really fat due to the sheer amount.

"You think so? I weigh the same as always… Maybe, I'm bloated today?" Alexis said awkwardly.

"So, then… can you, uh… get ready here?" Zane asked her.

"I… need to take my clothes off, right?" Alexis asked him concerned.

"Y-Yes please…" Zane said rubbing his head.

"I'm embarrassed." Alexis said looking away "Could you look the other way?"

Zane nods and turns his back to her. But then he notices a top she was wearing land near him, surprising him, then a skirt lands near him "…Oh!"

"Phew, that was tight…" Alexis said in relief.

"Tight…?" Zane said surprised and was tempted to look but shakes his head "No, I'm doing this for art!"

"Don't look over here, okay?" Alexis said to him "Hey, your sensei's coming back soon, right?" She tosses a sweater down to be near Zane.

"I believe so…" Zane said looking at it.

"Hm…" Alexis lets out and asked "Do you think we could do this somewhere else then? A little more atmosphere would be lovely…"

"This should be good enough…" Zane said simply.

"But wouldn't a room with a lock be a bit better?" Alexis asked him.

"A lock?" Zane asked confused.

"Must a girl say more?" Alexis said to him. She then tosses a tubetop over which lands in front of Zane.

"Wha?!" Zane said stepping back surprised. "But the only one with a lock it… Sensei's room…" He said a bit nervous.

"Then why not there?" Alexis asked him.

"I can't intrude… Besides, I don't have the key…" Zane said to her.

Alexis sighs and quietly says "He says he doesn't have key."

"It's okay. That's why I'm here." Gatomon whispered who was hiding in the lays of Alexis's clothes "I'll just use this hairpin…"

"Alexis, are you about…" Zane asked turning around and surprised to see the pile of clothes and Alexis standing there in her usual clothes but also some more added clothes as well. "You were wearing all this?"

"D-Don't you think it's cold today?" Alexis said rubbing her head.

"I suppose so?" Zane said thinking. "The sun is starting to set…"

Riiight? That's why a change of location would be nice…" Alexis asked smiling "I mean, I'm gonna take it all off."

"True…" Zane said nodding. He thinks and said to himself "It might make for a better picture if I can brighten my model's mood…"

"Uh-huh! That's right!" Alexis said nodding.

"She may even be willing to try out various expressive poses for use in a dynamic composition…" Zane said in his own thoughts.

"Wh-What kind of poses?!" Alexis said taken aback.

"Lady Alexis! You have to act! Get back in character!" Gatomon whisper yelled from the pile of clothes.

Alexis recomposes and said "Let's goo…I was just starting to get in the mood." She then leaves the room.

"Wait! If you wonder around, Sensei will…" Zane said in a panic.

"Ohhhh… It's sooo hot." Alexis says from out the room.

"W-We really can't use any other room…" Zane said in worry. He then notices the jacket Alexis was wearing land on the floor visible from the doorway.

"Hey, why not this one?" Alexis said/.

"Please wait!" Zane called out and ran out the room, sliding the door clothes.

"I'm counting on you, Gaon!" Alexis said.

We then come to inside the Palace where Aqua and Uzi were waiting by the red lazer security walls and the large Yvetal door waiting for it to open and the security go down.

"They seriously gonna be able to pull this off?" Uzi asked Aqua. "She was saying stuff like, 'I'll just seduce him with my acting,' but that sounds out of her league…Plus we ain't got one sign this place is gonna open… Isn't Lysandre coming home soon?"

"On top of that, even if Gaon's able to unlock the door, how's he gonna show it to Lysandre?" Uzi added a she thinks "Ant then even if they do show it open, any normal person would just close it right up again. Doesn't that mean we only got a few second to get in?" She rubs her head annoyed "To be blunt, won't it be a miracle if this works?"

"I am sure that it'll defiantly work." Aqua said with a confidant smile.

"I wanna think that too, but…" Uzi said thinking and looks at the door "…It's almost time."

We come back to Lysandre's house with Alexis wearing a blouse and shorts only now and Zane walking down the hallway.

"Please, can you just wait and…" Zane said still worried.

"What's past here?" Alexis asked smiling.

"That's…" Zane said looking at the area to the left worried.

Alexis noticing this hesitation turns and said under her breath "So the door Gaon mentioned is up ahead…"

"I keep telling you, you can't…" Zane said in worried panic.

Alexis walks up and looks to see the door with the lock but was shocked to see it was still closed as Gatomon was still working on it "You're still not done?!"

"It's hard to do this…with cat paws!" Gatomon said concerned.

"Is something the matter?" Zane asked Alexis approaching her.

"Oh, ummmm…. Sooo, what is this room?" Alexis asked putting on her act.

"It's a storage area for old paintings." Zane said thinking.

"Storage…" Alexis said thinking. She then smiles and said "Hey, Zane… Why don't we… do it in here? I won't be embarrassed if we go somewhere nobody can find us…"

"Only Sensei can go in there." Zane told her.

"Pleeeese…? I wanna be alone with you." Alexis said still acting "Somewhere like, quiet. You know, where we won't get interrupted."

"…Is she really going to buy that terrible act?!" Gatomon said as he works on the lock.

"Stay focused!" Alexis whispered to the cat hearing him looking at him.

"Hm?" Zane lets out confused.

Alexis turns back to him ans said "Ohhh, it's just soooo frustrating that my feelings aren't getting through to you! Zane, do you not like human girls like me?"

"N-No, that's not true…" Zane said concerned

"How is that working on him?!" Gaon said in surprise.

"Please? We can continue this… inside…" Alexis said doing her acting.

"S-Sure…" Zane said embarrassed but then shakes his head "I mean, no! We can't go in there! It's locked anyway, so…"

"Fine! This is too embarrassing… I'm leaving!" Alexis said to that acting upset.

"But…" Zane said surprised.

"Let's just do it in here! Okay?!" Alexis said with a smile.

"What do I do?" Zane asked himself thinking.

Suddenly the door is heard opening and Lysandre is heard saying "I'm home." This alerts all three of them.

"S-Sensei?!" Zane said in surprise

"Zane?" Lysandre said confused

Soon the lock finally comes undone and the door opens. Gatomon drops down smiling and said "All right, it's open!" He runs into the room

Alexis and runs partially into the room. Zane seeing this runs and surprised to see the door open "Huh?" He said.

Lysandre then comes round the corner and is shocked as well to see the door open and said annoyed "What are you doing there?!"

Zane turns to Lysandre worried and said in panic "I-It's… It's not what it looks like!" Alexis then getting an idea grabs Zane and drags him into the room "Wha…?!"

"Not in there!" Lysandre called out.

We then come back to inside the Palace with Aqua and Uzi still waiting for something to happen but so far, nothing.

"Nothing's happening… I wonder what's…" Uzi began to complain but then feels a shake "…Hm?!" Just then the lazer feel shuts down closing and the large door opens up "…It's off!" She said surprised, she then smiles and said "They seriously did it!"

"They are truly amazing." Aqua said with a smile.

"Yeah, for real!" Uzi said with a smile. She then looks serious at the doorway "Let's go!" The two run to the doorway and said "Okay, let's find the control room, quick! The path's gonna close up if we mess around for too long! But it's just going to be me and you for a bit if we run into any enemies. You good…?"

"Of course, if we get into any fights, let's kick their tail" Aqua said with a smile.

"Yeah, I'll be counting on you!" Uzi said nodding. The two run in but stop as they see a Basherbot but it was weaing a white coat. "Dammit, already…? Hey What do you want to do?"

Aqua nods and said "Looks to be a Captain of Lysandre's forces here. We will have to beat it."

"Yeah…" Uzi said nodding "The real problem's the fact that we gotta handle this with just the two of us…Anyways, I'll leave the timing up to you, dude." Aqua nods and they approaches the Captain Basherbot and she said "Hey, you're gonna let us through, right now!"

"Hm? Who are you?!" The Basherbot Captain asked surprised and looks at them "I see, that attire… You must be the thieves who dare threaten Lord Lysandre!" He then transforms into a large monster that was like a gorilla with yellow fur and black stripes with a black face with red eyes and a white mane. "They got past the security system?! …You cannot go any further! You are trespassing on Lord Lysandre's territory!"

"You guys ain't got nothing on us!" Uzi said to it. "I'm more scared of messing up and having Alexis yell at me!"

"Yeah she is scary when mad" Aqua said nodding and fires her gun at the Security Shadow.

The Security Shadow does Skull Crusher on Uzi, she shakes it up and does Zio on it. Aqua then has Archangel doe Giant Slice on it knocking it down and the two did an All-out Attack on it taking it out with ease.

"Phew…. Things are real tough when it's just me and you…" Uzi said sighing in relief. "It'd be a pain in the aft if we got spotted again. Anyway, let's turn off that security system!"

"Right" Aqua said with a nod.

We come back to Lysandre's house where we were in the dark storage room that Gatomon, Alexis and the reluctant Zane were in.

"Alexis, this is bad!" Zane said worried.

"Are these the light?" Alexis said feeling the wall, she flips the switch.

What that saw shocked them both, the room was full of paintings but they were all of the same picture…Lysandre's prized and well known painting, Julien. In the middle of the room was an easel with a painting covered in a purple sheet stood.

"What the…" Zane said in shock.

"Isn't this… 'Julien'?" Alexis asked also in shock. "Why are there so many of them?"

"I have no idea…" Zane said confused.

"Get out!" Lysandre said in anger upon entering the room.

"Sensei, what is the meaning of this?" Zane asked his teacher.

"I suppose I can't keep quiet not that you've seen this…" Lysandre said looking down. "Truth be told… I'm in severe debt. I handmade these 'Julien' copies and have been selling them through a special connection of mine…"

"But why?" Zane asked him.

"The real 'Julien'… was stolen by one of my pupils long ago. I assume they begrudged my strictness…" Lysandre explained. "That moment was quite a shock for me… Since then, I've been mired in a terrible artist's block…Because of this distress, some of my pupils handed their ideas over to me from time to time…"

Alexis thinks on this as she listens to the artist try and explain himself.

"I knew I couldn't keep that up, so I attempted to recreate the 'Julien' a number of times." Lysandre continued "However, it resulted in nothing more than replicas…That's when someone came to by the paintings, knowing well they weren't original…It's all my fault. I couldn't pay the price of being famous. As expectations for me rose, it reached a point where I had no choice but to keep making them…I…needed money to further your talents…I ask that you please forgive your cowardly teacher…"

"Please don't…!" Zane said walking forward believing his words.

"Hold on… Something doesn't add up." Alexis said realizing something and turns to Lysandre "If the original painting got stolen, how did you make copies of it?"

"I…happened to find a finely detailed photograph of it in an artbook." Lysandre replied to her.

"So, you managed to sell copies of a photo of the original? I'm not sure how this works, but…" Alexis said thinking "Don't people who buy paintings generally have a keen eye for the fine arts?" She looks angry and said "This sounds like a lie to me."

"What would you know?!" Lysandre asked her annoyed.

"Something just doesn't feel right!" Alexis told him.

"Lady Alexis!" Gatomon whispered from his hiding spot, looking at the covered painting "This one seems different!"

Alexis looks at it and to Lysandre's panic she removes the purple sheet and on it was another Julien painting.

"'Jullien'?" Zane said surprised looking at it. He gets a closer look scanning it and said in shock "This…. This is the real 'Julien'!" He turns to Lysandre and said "But you just said a moment ago that it was stolen!"

"That's a replica!" Lysandre told him annoyed.

"No, it's nothing of the sort!" Zane told him. "This painting kept me going… It's the reason I made it this far…Sensei…Don't tell me…"

"It's fake… Yes, a counterfeit!" Lysandre said continuing to deny it's the real one "I heard there was a counterfeit spreading around, so I bought it!"

Alexis turns to him and says "So you're telling me the actual artist behind the painting bought a counterfeit? That's pushing it."

"You're lying, Sensei…" Zane said shaking his head. "Please just tell us the truth…"

"You too?" Lysandre asked glaring at them both. He then pulls out his phone and hits a button and said walking forward "I've reported you to my private security company!"

"What?!" Alexis said shocked.

"I had it set up to deal with some problematic paparazzi, but I never thought it'd come in so handy." Lysandre said proudly.

"Please wait! Let's talk about this!" Zane said in worry.

"You can talk all you want to the police troopers…That includes you, Zane." Lysandre told them with no sympathy.

"Lady Alexis, let's run!" Gatomon called out and runs out surpriseing Lysandre, in the confusion Alexis ran out of the room with Gatomon.

"A cat?! Where did it…" Lysandre said in surprise. He then said angry "There's no point! They'll be here within two minutes!"

Alexis!" Zane called out and runs after her.

We come back to the Palace where Aqua and Uzi recover from fighting the Security Shadow.

"Welp, let's hurry up and get that stuff shut off!" Uzi said nodding.

Aqua nods and sees the Security office and the two go into the room.

"Aw yeah! This is the room!" Uzi said smiling "So… which one's for security?"

Aqua sees one computer on and goes to it and said "This looks to be it." She types into the console.

"Disengaging Security protocol…" The terminal said.

"Sweet! Now the lasers in the courtyard should be off for good." Uzi said smiling "Well, that's mission complete! Come on, let's get out of here!"

"Yeah" Aqua said nodding and the two head out and leave the room.

"Hey! Who's there?!" The voice of one of the Shadow Basherbots is heard saying.

"Scrap…! Let's make a run for it!" Uzi said worried.

The two run out into the courtyard and once out they see the generators that power the electrofields shut down and shrink down back into the boxes they come out of.

"All right, looks like the security's totally off!" Uzi said with a smile. "Let's get back and meet up with the others!" They move back to where the sign telling about the security was "I hope those two managed to get away…"

"Me too" Aqua said nodding.

"Nooooo!" They hear Alexis call out and look up to see dropping from a red vortex came Alexis in her Phantom Thief attire along with Zane who was holding her as he lands on the ground

"Ngh…" Zane grunts and then yelps as Gatomon lands on his head knocking him down.

"Aaaagh….Owwwwwww!" Gatomon groans from the hard landing.

"I thought I was gonna die…" Alexis said panicked. She then sees Zane holding her "…Hey, will you let go already?!" She then shoves him off her knocking him out. "Oh no! I didn't mean to push him so hard… Are you okay? Wake up!"

A while later Zane came too and looks around surprised looking at the group he asked "Who are you all?!"

"Calm down, Zane! It's me!" Alexis said to him

Zane looks at Alexis and his optics widen "…Alexis?" He then looks to Aqua and Uzi "That means you two are…" He looks to Gatomon "I don't recall ever seeing this cat costume before though…" He looks at the surroundings and holds his head "What is this place?"

"We're inside Lysandre's heart." Alexis told him.

Zane confused and stands up looking around "Inside… Sensei's heart? I'm sorry, Alexis…. But are you sure you're feeling okay?"

"She isn't lying. This is what that jerk truly feels." Uzi said to him "He's nothing but a greed-filled money-grubber."

"Enough of this rubbish!" Zane said glaring at Uzi.

"Zane! Didn't it cross your mind that something wasn't right about Lysandre?!" Alexis asked Zane, trying to make him see the truth.

"That's…" Zane said looking down thinking.

"You may not want to believe it, but this is another reality as viewed through Lysandre's eyes." Alexis told him. "…This is his true nature."

Zane looks around and asked "This repulsive world? Just who are all of you?!"

"I guess you could say…. We're a group that changes the hearts of rotten crooks." Uzi explained.

"If everything you say is true, then the sensei I know doesn't exsist…" Zane said looking sad.

"You gotta snap out of it." Uzi told him.

"Still… he has kept me safe these past ten years. My gratude for that won't just disappear." Zane said conflicted.

"You're gonna forgive him?! At this rate you'll…" Uzi began to say.

"N-Ngh…" Zane groans and collapses.

"Are you okay?" Alexis asked going to check him.

"I'm trying to be rational about this, but my emotion sensors are overwhelming me…" Zane explained.

"Sorry, but we don't have time to dawdle" Gatomon said to the four. "The security level's gone though the roof! We need to get out of here at once!"

"Yeah, they were already gathering back where we came from" Aqua said as Uzi nods. She then sees Zane panting "Here, learn on my shoulder."

"…No, it's all right." Zane said to her and stands up and moves with them.

"We need to get out of here!" Gatomon said to the group. "That said, we have an amateur with us now. Let's try and avoid fighting as much as possible!"

The group nod and rush to try and escape the Palace.

Well we know what Lysandre was hiding but Zane is struggling to know how to feel, wonder what will happen.

Now how I rate minions is simple:-

Standard Shadows: These are the common enemies you encounter in Palaces and can be recruited.

Red Aura Shadows: These are the tough fights against shadows you encounter and usually are way over leveled to be able to recruit them. They are more the Elite common troops.

Captain Shadows: These ones are ones who are a Shadow that you will repeatedly encounter as common shadows or (in the case of Eligar) a repeat mini-boss encounter. Archangel didn't count of this as I feel it is a bit rare to have a common encounter to class him as a Captain.

General Shadows: These are one of the a kind Shadows in the Palaces, ones that don't show up until an area later in the game or needed to be fused into to come to be. In story they are act as the leaders of the different areas of the Palace while the ruler is away and also the guardion of the final Will Seed door is always a General.
