Here's a new one for you!
Sam slammed his head down on the bartop; he was tired, annoyed, and just done. Today he had the biggest interview of his life, and he was 1000 percent sure he blew it. He was up for a chance to create not only his own comic but be a part of the Marvel Universe, and he spent the whole time talking about how, as much as he loved Tony Stark, there was no way Iron Man could truly handle Captain America.
"Sam, I am sure it wasn't that bad! Now if you want to talk about bad, let me tell you how I blew it on my date with this pretty amazing guy because I took Brittany's advice and didn't use gel!" Blaine said, eyeing Brittany, who shrugged.
"Lord Tubbington said that you should lose the gel, don't get mad at the messenger."
Mike came in and slammed himself down on the stool. "Someone remind me whose big Idea it was for me to open a damn dance studio instead of attending medical school?"
Sam looked at him. "Uh, yours!"
"Oh, yeah."
April walked over to the foursome and shook her head. "What's up, buttercup? What can I get my favorite band of misfits?"
Brittany looked at her. "April, why are you always so chipper? Lord Tubbington said you are sampling your own supply."
"Well, Lord Tubbington needs to stay out of grown folks' business before I tell you where he hides his cigarettes." April volleyed.
"He said he quit smoking," Brittany said sadly.
"They always say they quit honey; then you find butts in the kitty litter box."
"I do…." Brittany confirmed sadly and surprised.
"I don't know why you are so sad, sugar; you guys are young and living life! You should be out enjoying it, not sitting here complaining. You are only young once." April said, smiling softly.
Sam scoffed. "Young and living life? Do you wanna know what life is? Life is hard; that's what life is! They tell you to go to school and get an education, but they don't tell you how hard it is."
"And forget about dating! It's like every guy I date hates something about me. I am done. I am going to be a recluse or marry Britt…let's get married, Britt." Blaine said, turning to her.
"Lord Tubbington told me you would ask and told me to tell you no." She replied.
Mike looked at April. "Can you just get us a round of shots? We want to wallow in our misery until life gets better. What do you think, guys? That should be like five, six years from now. They say life doesn't get good til you reach your thirties."
April looked at them all, nodding, and shook her head. She had known the foursome since they started coming there four years ago. She moved around the bar, fixing them a drink they would never forget. "Guys, I really doubt wallowing in self-pity is going to speed up time… but these just might." She said, placing four shots in front of them.
Sam looked at the teal-colored concoction and back at her. "This is…new…what is it?"
"I call it the April Rhodes Special because you never know where you're gonna end up after you drink it… kinda like me!"
They stared at her, and she shook her head. "Well, go on and drink it, sugar! You only live once!"
Sam lifted his drink and looked at his friends, who did the same. "Well…to…to the future!"
"To the future!" They all said as they downed the shots.
Sam groaned, rubbing his head. "Fuckin April Rhodes." He hissed; his head was spinning; there was just too much light in his place. But he couldn't remember it being this bright.
"Sam, baby, if you're gonna join me, the time is now!"
Sam heard his name being called and sat up, gripping his head and grabbing it as he looked around. "Where in the…" He looked around until his eyes landed on the ensuite, where a very naked, very beautiful woman was staring at him. "Holy hell…" He said, taking her in.
She giggled. "If you keep reacting like that, we're gonna end up with another Logan, and I don't know about you, but I think three boys are more than enough." She replied, walking over to him.
"Another what now?" He said as she came closer to him. "What kind of game did I have last night to get you in this bed? Because I have never been this lucky."
She smiled, crawling onto the bed and straddling him. "Did you and Mike get drunk last night? This seems like hungover, Sam."
"You know Mike?" He thought back to last night. "I mean, you must have seen the four of us taking shots… When did you get to the bar again?"
"Bar? Last night? Sam…" She said, grabbing his face and looking at him intensely. "Did you two get high without me and Tina? I will kick your ass if you did!"
Sam looked at her, too drunk to pull away. "Who the hell is Tina?" He sighed. "Ummm, look umm…I'm sorry I don't remember your name. I don't usually do one-night stands, not that I am not glad about it because you are sexy as all fuck, but still."
"One night stand? So us getting married eight years ago counts for nothing? You know Mrs. Mercedes Jones-Evans…. Your wife." She said, pointing at herself.
"My wi-my what? Okay, it's time for me to go." He gently removed her from his lap and climbed out of bed. "Look, I think you have the wrong idea. I am not ready to be married, so if you are looking for more than this right here, you gotta look elsewhere…where are my clothes?" He asked, looking at the ground.
Mercedes looked at him, confused and slightly worried. "Baby, are you okay? Why are you talking like this?" She asked, grabbing her robe.
"MOMMY! Can we come in now?"
Sam looked at the door, shaking his head. "Mommy?"
"Shit, they're awake… so much for our quickie." She said, putting on her robe and tossing him some shorts. "It's your turn to make the pancakes."
"You have kids? Just how old are you?" He asked, running his hands through his hair before putting on the shorts.
"Okay, seriously, this isn't funny anymore… Whatever you and Mike did last night, don't do it again. I'm the same age as you, and WE have kids." Mercedes responded, going over and opening their room door as her phone started to ring.
"Daddy's awake and is gonna make your pancakes!" She said, kissing all three of their kids before grabbing and answering her phone.
"Is Sam high too?" Her friend Tina asked.
"Oh, so it's not just him then! Sam's acting like he doesn't even know me or our damn kids. I did not push out twins and then another baby in literally a three-year time frame for this shit."
Tina sighed. "Whatever they took, I want because Mike has literally been cowering in the bathroom for the past twenty minutes talking about how his mom is going to kill him for getting me knocked up out of wedlock… I'm like, dude, we've been married for years!"
Mercedes nodded, looking over at Sam, who was being attacked by their three sons and smiled. "How the hell am I supposed to tell him we're about to have another if he's acting like this..?"
Tina giggled. "I thought you were going to sex him up then tell him? Mike, seriously, get out of there. I have to pee!"
"I was, but he was acting like how he's acting…."
"Ah, Mercedes? Can… can we talk..?" Sam asked.
"But I want pancakes, Daddy!" Logan whined.
"Us too." Miles and Cameron said in unison.
Mercedes smiled. "T, let me call you back." She said before hanging up. "Guys, how about we make pancakes for Daddy since he's not feeling great?"
"Who isn't feeling great?"
"Daddy isn't, Uncle Stevie.." Logan said.
"Uncle Stevie?" Sam said, getting off the bed and looking at his little brother, who was not so little anymore.
"Sam, did you forget he was coming in for the party? He's staying here because you lost the bet I told you not to make?" Mercedes said, looking at him.
"Stevie…you look…last time I saw you, you were 14…" Sam said, shaking his head.
Stevie cocked an eyebrow, and Mercedes sighed. "He go with Mike last night." She whispered to her brother-in-law.
Stevie nodded before smirking. "Then it's time for Uncle Stevie to let you two talk while me and the boys go out for breakfast!" He said as the boys cheered.
"Okay, you heard your uncle; go get dressed, and for the love of God, no costumes." Mercedes said, watching the boys run upstairs before looking back at Sam, who was still staring at Stevie.
"Dude, stop staring at me!" Stevie said.
"I am losing my fuckin mind. You were 14 years old just last night! I can't." He shook his head, trying to understand what was happening.
"Okay, what did you take, and can I have some?" Stevie joked, making Mercedes laugh.
"That's what I said, but he acts like he doesn't even know me or the boys." She said, shaking her head.
"Because I don't know you!" Sam ran his hands over his face. "Why is this happening?"
Mercedes shook her head. "I don't have the energy for this…"
Sam took a breath as he took a good look at his hands and noticed the wedding band on his finger. On the inside of his left wrist, he also noticed Mercedes's name in cursive and a musical note next to it.
His hand traced over the tattoo, and Mercedes sat down next to him, offering him her wrist. He looked, and on the inside of it was "Sam" in cursive and a Captain America Shield.
He looked at her and saw so much love in her eyes. "You're really my wife…" He said, taking in her beauty. He had always said he wanted to get tattoos with his wife, just like the exact ones they had right now.
Mercedes nodded. "Of course I am; I have been for years… remember you asked me to marry you after three dates? And I foolishly said yes…"
Sam smiled; that definitely sounded like something he would do. "Again, I have to ask, what kind of game did I have because the man I was last night could not have pulled that off. Marrying such a smart, beautiful woman?"
"Dude, I told you she was out of your league on your first date. Should've married me instead, Merce."
Mercedes blushed. "And if memory serves me correctly, I told you that I like nerds." She quipped. "And your brother is the nerdiest man I know; it helps. He's kinda sexy too."
Sam blushed. "Our dad must love you."
"Oh no, that's a completely different story; he and I are engaged." She teased.
Stevie shook his head. "I've been pining after this woman since the first time you brought her home, and she accepts Dad's proposal over mine!"
Sam's eyes widened. "Oh my God, Stacey! She has to be a grown woman now! Please tell me I scared off every piece of trash Stevie couldn't!"
Stevie laughed. "PLEASE LET ME RUIN THIS FOR HIM!" Stevie said before Mercedes could say anything. "Stacey is getting married, and that's why we're all coming here to stay so we can have a surprise engagement party."
"Getting married to who!" Sam said, standing.
"WE'RE READY!" The boys said, running down the stairs, and Mercedes groaned.
"I literally said no costumes, boys, and sorry, Logan, but you have to wear pants… it's required, baby. Can you please go put on some pants?"
Logan thought about it for a moment before shaking his head. "Daddy doesn't always wear pants." He said matter of factly.
Mercedes started to say something when an intense rush of nausea hit her. "Oh… Sam.. h-handle this!" She said before running out of the room to their bathroom.
"HANDLE IT HOW?" He shouted after her.
"You seriously don't deserve her, but I got little man; go check on Cedes. We'll be back around noon… gonna use them to find me a date to the party."Sam nodded, watching his brother as he looked to the bathroom, taking a breath as he walked in.
Seeing Mercedes over the toilet, he grew concerned. "M-Mercedes, are you okay?" He asked.
She wiped her mouth and sighed. "This is not how I wanted to tell you… I was hoping we could get a few rounds in first." She said.
Sam looked at her. "Before you tell me what?" She was scaring him because he knew one big reason why people throw up.
"Well, I know we agreed to wait, but I think when we had that staycation and let your parents keep the boys for a week… and we utilized literally every surface…we had too much fun if you know what I mean."
Sam breathed as his mind thought over what being with Mercedes all over their place would have been like. "No, I don't, but I can imagine."
She smiled. "Well, they are going to be gone for a while and-" She started before quickly leaning back over the toilet to throw up again.
Sam went to her and lifted her hair out of her way. "Mercedes, are you dying? I can't raise those kids alone…"
She laughed. "I know that… trust me, you only lasted three hours when me and Tina had to go out of town for three days. I'm not dying; I'm pregnant."
"With a baby?" It wasn't a logical question, but he had nothing else.
"Yes, with a baby, you damn dork. A baby you put inside me, to be exact."
"Okay…cool…cool…" He sighed, "Cool."
She narrowed her eyes on him. "Are you thinking about sex right now?" She asked, slightly amused.
Sam stepped away from her, trying not to hyperventilate. "I umm, I need to talk to Mike…or B…or Britt…."
"Call them… I'll… I'll just get me some ginger ale and crackers." She said, standing.
"Mercedes, I'm sorry I just…" What could he say?
"It's okay; I know I dropped a bomb on you… take the time you need." Mercedes replied, moving to the sink to rinse her mouth.
Sam moved behind her. "Please know this isn't you or those kids…it's me. This is just too much."
She turned and looked at him hurt. "Those kids? We are just too much?" She looked away from him shaking her head. "Wow, yeah, you do whatever you need to do, Samuel." She said, muttering under her breath, moving him out of her way and walking to the kitchen to get her some ginger ale and crackers.
Sam may not have known her well, but he knew that her calling him Samuel was not a good thing.
Well... that was a lot, lol! I hope you enjoyed and we do have some exciting news for you all!
