The night that both Minato and Kushina both anticipated but also dreaded just a bit had started, October 10th the night their child finally would be born.
The cries of Kushina filled the room of the secluded base as the whispers of encouragement from her husband kept her going.
Biwako yelled out, "Almost there, just one more big push!"
With that Kushina gathered as much strength as she could and did as command, soon she flopped back down with heaving breaths as small cries could be heard.
Both Minato and Kushina looked at the Sarutobi who was now holding a small blond child in her arms, Biwako smiled, "It's a boy." She was just about to hand the baby over to the 4th when she suddenly looked shocked and shouted, "Wait!"
The two parents stopped what they were doing and not to their acknowledgement this stopped a certain masked man from stepping out.
Biwako quickly handed the child to another nurse as she went back to position and told the shocking news, "There is another chakra source that's not Kushina's."
The two new parents were shocked at the announcement, "Kushina I know you are tired but you need to endure this one more time."
Kushina was on the brink of tears but before she could complain she felt her hand be squeezed, she looked to the source and saw Minato giving a reassuring smile. Kushina gave a weak nod and proceeded.
It was more painful believe it or not but when they finally heard the small cries of another child and with Biwako's confirmation, "It's a girl." The two new parents gave a sigh of relief.
The night wasn't over however as the previously hidden masked man attacked, threatening the baby girl and in the process killing Biwako. Soon the attack of the 9 tails happened devisating the village. With the hard decision, the 4th Hokage he proceeded to split the tailed beast in two but instead of himself holding one half he instead had both his new born children sharing the cramped altar with both having the seal on their abdomen.
With the combined efforts of both himself and Kushina the two children soon found themselves orphaned with the monster sealed inside of them.
7 years later….
A group of newly appointed genin surrounded a little girl with bright red hair, "Geez what's with this ugly colored hair? Are you already transforming into a demon?"
The group of genin chuckled as the little girl looked like she was about to cry, soon though a boy jumped from the ceiling landing onto one of the genin yelling as he began punching the genin, "Leave my sister alone you jerks!"
Soon the boy was met with a kick to his face by one of the genin and soon the boy was now surrounded getting kicked and punched.
The little girl got scared as she ran to one of the genin and grabbed his arm, "Get off of him!" The genin though swatted her back making her fall to the floor. She looked in horror as she saw red blood start to show from her brother.
Angry and desperate her chakra flared but it wasn't normal, "I said stop it!" Terrifying chakra filled the alleyway making the genin stop in their tracks looking terrified. They soon all fled as the girl sighed, "Thank you Kurama."
The red head went to her brother who staggered up to his feet but with a smile nonetheless, "You ok Shira?" The boy smiled even though his face was already bruised and swollen with a nosebleed.
Shira sighed as she placed a hand on her brother's swollen face as bright blue eyes met the other pair of blue, "I should be asking you the same thing, Naruto, you can't keep doing drastic stuff like that."
Naruto just snickered, "Well what's an older brother to do?"
Shira sighed as she shook her head, "An older brother by barely much." She then tugged Naruto's arm taking them out of the narrow alleyway, "Cmon lets go patch you up."
Just as they were heading to their apartment a voice piped up grabbing their attention, "What the hell happened this time baka!"
They looked back and saw another blondie with a pink haired girl, Shira smiled, "Ah Ino-chan! Naruto got into another fight with the usual people."
Naruto grimaced as Ino yelled out, "Huh!?" She stomped over and Shira let go of her brother's arm and stepped back knowing what was going to happen, Ino then grabbed the other blondie by the arm and practically dragged the boy, "How many times do I have to patch you up you idiot!"
Naruto yelled back, "I never asked you to patch me up in the first place!" Ino then looked at Naruto with a visible vein, "Oh so now you want to deny my treatment huh!?"
The two kept on bickering as Shira and the pink haired girl both just giggled in amusement at the two. Shira just looked at the two, "I swear Sakura, those two are like an old married couple."
Sakura just laughed a bit, "I would be surprised if they don't turn out like that later on."
As they got to the Uzumaki apartment Ino immediately began treating the annoyed boy as the other two cooked for dinner. After treating his wounds Ino sighed, "Geez at this rate I might have to stay by your side all the dang time. Especially if you're going to be a ninja."
Naruto looked the other way with a tint of red, "Well if you do it's whatever." Naruto was then promptly hit on top of the head lightly, "Huh!? What does that mean!?"
The other two in the kitchen just chuckled as they continued making dinner as the two blondies kept yelling at each other from the other room.
5 more years later….
The day that both Uzumaki kids waited for, the day they could finally graduate and become fully fledged ninjas. Even though the classes were seemingly hard for both they trekked through and made it to the final stage.
"Sasuke Uchiha."
The dark haired boy that Naruto considered a "rival" even though they were never on the same level throughout the academy. Naruto glared at the boy as he made his way to leave the room. Sasuke's fan club did the same but to Naruto.
Shira who grew her hair out to her shoulder blades now wore a tan sleeveless blouse with the Uzumaki clan emblem on her back. Lord Third also laughed by saying she was a direct little Kushina. She didn't mind the comparison but she was going to make sure she was going to be her own comparison.
Shira just sighed as she propped her head on her hand, Shira never really got the hype for Sasuke, he's going to be a great ninja but she just never saw the appeal of the rude boy as more than comrades.
Ino who was sitting next to Shira just leaned back in her chair with her hands behind her head, "Naruto is so obsessed with Sasuke for no reason I swear."
Shira nervously laughed as she looked the other way as she remembered the first week of academy.
Naruto yelled out in Ichiraku, "Great Kami! I don't get what Ino-chan and Sakura-chan even see in that teme! I mean seriously the dude is a certified a-hole!"
Shira in a weirdly elegant manner slurped some of the ramen that was in her bowl, after swallowing she looked to her brother as he hadn't even eaten a single thing in his bowl.
"Well they could possibly try and be friends with them?"
Naruto looked at his red haired sister like she was insane, "Like hell they are! They are acting like those dumb fangirls!"
Shira just sighed as she knew she would never get it through his thick head, so instead of arguing she slid off her seat and paid for her portion, "Well you can think what you want just know females can be friends with males without anything deeper, I'm going home to sleep."
Naruto gawked at his sister, "Huh!?" Before he could even say anything back she was already down the path.
"Yea I have no idea why he hates the Uchiha so much." Just as she said that, Iruka came through the door and called out, "Naruto Uzumaki."
Naruto jumped out of his seat and as he was walking to the door he looked over to the two and gave them a grin with a thumbs up to which they returned the sentiment.
It took a couple of minutes until Shira was called. As she entered the room the man she came to know as Mizuki was in the corner of the room and gave her the fakest smile she had ever seen, Iruka got her attention though, "Ok Shira all you have to do is a simple clone and you'll be on your way."
Shira nodded as she closed her eyes and inwardly spoke, "Ready Kurama?"
A deep voice chuckled a bit, "Ready when you are, remember what I told you though."
Shira took a deep breath and channeled her chakra, she then went through the hand motions, a puff of smoke came and next to her was a perfect copy. The two looked at each other confused at first but then both smiled brightly as they cried out, "Yes!" Shira jumped up and down with the clone.
Iruka smiled at the sight. He then went to the desk behind him and presented her with a Hitai-ate to which she slowly held in her two hands as if it were fragile. She then squeezed as she smiled up to Iruka who nodded for the go ahead and she went ahead and tied it to her right bicep.
Iruka patted her on the head, "You should go, your classmates are all outside celebrating as we speak." Shira nodded as she quickly left the room. Mizuki spoke up, "Not gonna tell her huh?"
Iruka's smile faded, "Either way she will find out, she might as well learn from him." Mizuki just chuckled as he shook his head, "Sure whatever."
Shira smiled brightly as she got outside and saw the whole class discussing with their families, smiling and laughing. She kept smiling trying to find her own family amongst the crowd but didn't find him. She looked harder and finally saw him, all alone on the swing, with no forehead protector. Her heart sank as she saw his expression and quickly ran over.
"H-hey brother."
Naruto looked up to Shira and quickly smiled, "Hey you did it! Congrats sis!" Shira felt a little pang of pain as he smiled to her, "A-are you ok?"
Naruto looked a bit confused but then smiled once more, "Yea? Why wouldn't I be? I mean I didn't pass but at least my little sis made it!" Shira rubbed her shoulder a bit, "Y-you still gonna come with me, Sakura, and Ino to celebrate? Better to be with others than-"
"No." It came out so cold that both siblings seemed surprised by the response. Nauru cleared his throat, "I mean, sorry but I think I just want to go train so I can get better for the next exam, but you should totally go I don't want to bring your night down y'know?"
"O-ok. If you need any help I can-"
"It's fine." This time Naruto didn't even try to hide his depressive state, he sighed, "I just need to try and control his chakra on my own."
Shira knew exactly what the issue was, the 9 tails chakra was messing up his body's chakra control and she knew why she had an easier time than him.
7 years ago when the two were only 5 Shira made contact with the 9 tails for the first time by complete accident. The beast scared her for even coming face to face with her. After the interaction she asked Lord Third and even he couldn't hide the truth. He sat both down and told them the tale of the 9 tails and how their father sealed two halves of the demon in both his children to protect the village.
After hearing the story Shira kept meeting the 9 tails on purpose. At first the beast constantly told her off but even still she kept coming back over and over, talking to him as if he was a person instead of a demon. Over the years her and the fox got closer and closer until they were having full blown conversations and emotional talks.
She soon found out the real name of the fox was Kurama and learned of his origins. Kurama started to help her with her chakra around the age of 6 and after training a bit with him she finally was able to handle his power slightly.
Things though weren't always good, one night after her and Naruto trained, after showing off her new strength that was given to her by Kurama Naruto also wanted to try and get in touch with his tailed beast. A bloodcurdling scream shook Shira awake, she soon ran from her room to her brother and saw him holding his cheeks as his body arched up. She quickly woke her brother up to see streaks of treats falling from his face, an expression she has never seen her brother make before.
Naruto quickly hugged his sister trying to calm down and recalled the horrific encounter with his Kurama. After calming him down and getting him back to bed she went to talk with Kurama and demand answers.
He sighed, "It would seem that the boy got my other half. A more sinister part of myself that even I am not proud of."
"Anything I should try to help him out with?"
Kurama shook his head, "All you can do is make sure he can train without getting the help of his version of me. Who knows what kind of destruction would be led if he ever does use it."
After that she talked with her brother and made sure he never ever went to resort to using that darkened chakra.
Now here he was heartbroken and angry at himself but even through it all he still smiled and made sure to let her have her fun.
Naruto had just stolen the Scroll of Seals as ordered by Mizuki, for some reason he needed it and promised to make the boy a genin if he completed the mission. As he waited he was a bit curious so he opened the scroll and saw it was for multi shadow clones and he groaned.
After reading it a bit Mizuki finally showed up, Naruto grinned, "Hey sensei! I got the scroll for you!"
Mizuki just smirked and put his hand out, "Ah that a lot of help thanks a bunch kid now ha-"
Mizuki felt a chill and jumped away as a couple of kunai landed right where he originally was, Mizuki let out a sharp exhale as he saw Iruka land a couple of feet from Naruto. Iruka looked back at Naruto as he yelled at the boy, "What the hell are you doing Naruto!"
Naruto looked a bit confused, "W-well Mizuki told me he would promote me to Genin if I gave him the scroll!"
Iruka looked back to Mizuki with a glare, "Is this true?"
Mizuki scratched the back of his head as he sighed, "C'mon now Iruka, are you really going to trust a troublemaker like this demon kid?"
Naruto looked stunned as Mizuki rambled on, "I mean seriously, we are talking about Naruto here, the damn kid was going to try this one day or another."
"L-Liar! You told me-!"
Mizuki just glared at the boy, "Shut it demon. You'll be handed over to the ANBU for this traitorous action."
Naruto felt his heart racing as his life was so crappy and it was just about to get even worse. Iruka though had other plans in mind, "Actually no, he won't." Iruka then tightened his grip on his kunai as he got into a fighting stance.
Mizuki acted shocked for a second but soon broke as he began laughing maniacally, "Oh man I can't believe you are actually going to die for this demon! Even after what he did to your family, you still are going to fight for him!?"
Iruka just smirked, "Yea I am because he isn't a demon, Naruto is just any other kid." He then looked back to Naruto, "get out of here and take the scroll, make sure Mizuki doesn't get a hand on it!"
Naruto nodded and leaped away, Mizuki felt anger as he got into position, "You're on the wrong side Iruka, but hey at least you'll see your family soon."
After running for a good while he finally settled behind a tree out of stamina. He was worried for Iruka but soon his worries were absolved as Iruka limped into a clearing calling out for the boy.
Naruto came from behind the tree and Iruka smiled, "You ok kid?"
Naruto felt a chill and it seemed as though 'Iruka' saw it and immediately kicked the boy in the gut, making him and the scroll slam into the nearby tree.
Mizuki lowered his henge as he sighed once more, "Dumbass kid thinking he can do something." He then grabbed Naruto by the collar and punched the boy in the face, "Don't you get it." Another jab, "You will never be a ninja." Another one, "You will never be loved." Again, "You will soon find yourself all alone." He punched him again but let go, making the boy crumble to the floor.
He then stepped on the boy's skull, "You and that bitch will only be looked at as weapons. Nothing more. The men, the women, the children, and even the damn Hokage see you as nothing more than toys they can threaten other villages with. You don't see it now but soon the people will want one of you two executed, the people fear what they can't control and when you or that cunt step out of line," he then motioned his thumb across his throat, "dead."
He didn't care about Mizuki talking about him or how he was some damn unlovable monster, the only thing you don't say against Naruto Uzumaki is anything bad about his sister. His chakra flared up making even Mizuki terrified and in that moment Naruto quickly lifted his body off the ground making Mizuki unstable and fall. Now he was looking up at Naruto who had his iris red, his whiskered scars were more darkened and his teeth were sharp.
Naruto slowly made hand signals and soon clouds of smoke surrounded Mizuki and soon the same copies of Naruto surrounded the poor man. Naruto smiled sinisterly, "You better brace yourself, cause this is going to hurt like hell."
The cry of Mizuki gave Iruka enough of a clue of where they were at that moment. As he limped to a clearing he saw Mizuki in such bad condition you would think he was dead at first glance, Naruto's back was towards Iruka looking down at the crumpled man.
Iruka slowly approached wondering if he would have to defend himself but stopped as blue eyed Naruto smiled at Iruka, "Sorry about that, he started talking ill of sis and I kinda went overboard, he's still breathing so don't worry."
Iruka sighed as he smiled, the ANBU and Hokage finally reached the scene and luckily Iruka was able to preach for Naruto's innocence to which Hiruzen understood and soon the group took the traitor for questioning.
As Iruka and Naruto left for the hospital and ramen after, Naruto looked at his hand flexing it a bit and smiled, "Maybe sis was wrong? Maybe I can use his power."
But deep inside Naruto's psyche the darker colored fox gave a menacing grin.
