1. Chapter 1

Knives Out

Occupation: Works at The Harvard Museum of Natural History and a part-time historian.

History: Though it was a stunt to get fame for the Thrombey's Linda and Richard decided to adopt a child after trying to have another one after Ransom. Turns out when he came out via C-section, he did some damage that caused her not to get pregnant again. So Linda followed her father's advice and decided to adopt a child, but it wasn't her father's idea to make it a fame-grabbing event. Needless to say, despite Linda and Richard having a hard time finding a child in China, there was a little girl they did like. Her name was Lien meaning lotus. They found her reading a small history book to the little ones and what sealed the deal was when she was done, they found her sewing a torn shirt for a little boy with ease. They couldn't handle the cuteness and decided they wanted her. After completing the proper paperwork, they adopted her and took her home. Already Harlan got new baby stuff for his new granddaughter and the 2 took a great liking to each other. Heck, she was the one who taught him how to play GO. As Lien grew up, she saw how much her family members were…not good people to say the least. Out of everyone, the only ones she loved the most were her grandfather, her great-grandmother, and her cousin Meg. She does love her parents, but she can tell even they aren't as great as they should be. When she was a teenager she told her grandfather that she wanted to work in a museum and to be a historian and her grandfather loved the idea. The only problem is, she was afraid to tell her parents given she knew they wanted her to leech off Harlan like they did. After 3 months, Lien finally got the courage to tell her parents of her dream and before they had a chance to protest, Harlan pulled some strings and got her into a great college so she could work at a museum and be a historian. Well, they couldn't stop him and they didn't stop Lien from fulfilling her dream. During her studies, she was getting nothing but As, graduated early, and managed to get a job at The Harvard Museum of Natural History, and though her parents are happy cause of $$$ her grandfather was happier given she was following her dream and Lien loves her job. As years went by she and her grandfather grew very close and though the family wasn't into the idea of a nurse, Lien agreed that's how she met Fran and Marta and as Lien and Marta started to hang out while helping her to take care of Harlan something more grew in Lien's heart…but she has to keep it secret for Marta's sake.
