Shock: A sudden, upsetting or surprising event or experience.

That's what everyone watching in Mrs. Johnson's driveway felt as Klaus gave Julian his blood so the dying human would change into a vampire instead.

Klaus gazed at Julian's unconscious, wounded body, his bulging chest rising and falling as he breathed. He got to his feet and turned to look at his Angel, who stood frozen, mouth gaping and eyes wide with shock as she held her sobbing mother in her arms.

Then, without a word, he lifted his hand to wipe the sweat from his cheeks and lips.

"What just happened?" Lucifer growled. "What did you do, Mikaelson?"

"I'm cleaning up your mess, obviously," Klaus told him. "You know he didn't deserve to die that way."

"Julian?" Eleanor whispered her lover's name before placing a hand over her mouth. Her whole body was trembling. "Dear Steve…he…Klaus gave him his blood!"

"Mom? Mom, come inside and I'll make us some tea. And I have some leftover cookies too. I don't think it would hurt us to have food in our stomachs." Angelica knew her mother didn't look well. And she knew for a fact that she had to get herself away from all the stress that was piling up before it did something to her and Klaus' baby. Cause her father would just love that, wouldn't he?

She tried to pull her mother away, but Ellie held her back. "It's very sweet of you to think of me, but…I'm much more concerned about you. Besides," she paused and sniffled. "I just…I just want to have this time with him, okay? I can't just leave him here!"

"I don't think it's good idea for you to stay," Klaus broke in softly with a shake of his head. "Julian is going to transition soon. He needs space. He needs calm. He needs quiet. And I need the space to be able to take care of him the best I can."

"Klaus, do you realize what you've done? Hasn't this poor man been through enough tonight?" Angelica chided her mate, hands on hips and her heart full of mixed emotions as she tried to calm herself by breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

"Of course, I do, Angelica!" He hissed, feeling just a touch of shame when he saw her wince. "You see him over there?" He gestured wildly at Lucifer, who was apart from the group, chin raised and not a hint of shame in his eyes. "Your fucking father killed his grandmother and almost succeeded in killing him! Did you see that?"

"Y…yes," Angelica nodded.

"Well, I'll be damned if I let him do away with two people tonight!"

"I know, I know," Angelica nodded, nervously rubbing her hands together. It was something he felt strongly about and there was obviously no undoing what had been done.

"And I'll be damned if I let a hybrid overpower me!" Lucifer cried. "You're just a rascal! You mean nothing!" He then balled both hands into fists on either side of his very tense body.

"I don't give a flying fuck about whether you're damned or not," Klaus shot back, not afraid at all of the rage that was building up in the devil. He then turned and spoke kindly to Angelica. "Angel, bring your mother inside and sit her down. Then call 911 and get an ambulance to come and get Mrs. Johnson's body while I get Julian into the basement."

"Her name is Angelica!" Lucifer lashed out, hitting his chest with his fist. "She's my daughter, Klaus Mikaelson, and don't you forget that! She's part of me! I made her what she is. And maybe not now, but I promise you that one day she'll be as cruel to you as she's being to me right now."

Angelica frowned. "Who gave you the right to say horrible things like that about me?" She asked. "I'm nothing like you! Or at least not this…whatever you'd call what you've become! You did make me what I am in so many ways. Taught me to question everything. Not just blindly accept what someone tells me to do because they say so. I know you meant me to apply it to Grandpa, but what makes you think that after lessons like that, I would just sit back and let you rule me? You've lost sight of who you are, and as a consequence, you've lost me. It's the only reason I can think of why you would murder an innocent, kind old lady like Mrs. Johnson: You're angry and lost and looking to take it out on someone, anyone. I've had enough. You've lost the right to call yourself my father. And of course, there's no way in hell I'm gonna let your grandchild that I'm carrying anywhere near you," she added cruelly. "I suggest you leave now. And don't ever come back. I don't want to see you ever again!"

Lucifer froze and went pale as her words hit him like a hard punch. He began to babble nonsense, but she ignored him and turned to her mother instead.

"How about we go inside now, Mom," she suggested as Ellie stood frozen, her eyes still on her lover. "I think we've been here long enough. There's nothing more we can do."

"You heard her, Eleanor," Klaus agreed as he picked up Julian's body. "Go inside, sit down, take a deep breath…you've been through a lot. And I need to take care of Julian now." He narrowed his eyes at Lucifer. "And you. If your daughter says leave, you leave!"

"Fine," Lucifer nodded, eyes narrowed. "I won't stay where I'm not welcome." But then an evil grin curved his lips and he sped over to Ellie, picking her up in his arms as she cried out in protest. "But your mother is still my wife, and she is carrying my child. So…to each their own." He then turned on his heel and carried a kicking, screaming Ellie back to his car.

"Mom!" Angie cried out in shock and tried to run after her. But Klaus' voice gave her pause.

"We can't save everyone now, Angie," he reminded her, hoping he sounded calm and reasonable as Ellie's screams issued from the car. "Julian has to come first."

He turned to take the man inside as Angelica stood speechless in the driveway, watching her father's sports car disappear into the night. Then, once it was gone, she came back to herself, nodded at her mate, then grabbed her phone out of her pocket. "You take care of Julian and I'll call the ambulance."

"Thank you, Angel," he told her. "That's a very good idea." He gave her a kind smile for courage. "I'm going to take Julian to the basement now. And I hate to tell you this…but with everything that's happened, I don't think I'll be able to finish cutting the grass today, love."

"No," she gave a little chuckle. "I don't think you will." She made the call and put the phone to her ear. "Hello, yes, my neighbor fell in her yard and hit her head on rock. She's very elderly. Can you get someone to come quick?"

Meanwhile, as Klaus carried Julian inside the house, he cursed under his breath. Lucifer had caused all this, damn him. Damn Lucifer Morningstar!

Angelica rushed inside her house, slammed the door shut, and took a deep breath. The hacienda had become her safe haven, the place, more than any other, that she thought of as home, with the mansion she'd grown up in being demoted to merely 'her parents' house', or, especially now, 'her father's house'. She was finally beginning to find peace with Klaus Mikaelson after only thinking of him as her lover and a fellow lonely soul for so long. He was her peace…and her mate, which had been a total surprise. And even more of a surprise that she still felt that way after finding out the truth about their destiny.

She took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and made her way down the stairs to the basement, holding on tight to the railing so she wouldn't fall, stepping into a dark room lit only by a dim ceiling lamp. "Klaus?" She called. "Where are you?"

"I'm over here, love," he called, then rose to his feet from a kneeling position and pulled off his t-shirt.

Stepping a little closer, she sucked a breath as she saw just what Klaus had had to do with Julian Johnson: His wounded body had been placed on a camp bed and his wrists had been bound with rope that would surely burn his skin if he struggled against it.

After blinking several times, she cleared her throat and spoke. "I just wanted to let you know that I called the ambulance and they're on their way. And a few of the neighbors are still in the yard with…with the body."

"Good!" Klaus said and took her shaking hands in his. "You need to breath again, Angel. Take deep breaths in your lungs."

"Okay," she closed her eyes and tried to do the breathing she did in yoga.

"Good," Klaus encouraged and kissed her forehead. "Good girl."

"What's gonna happen next?" She asked. "Why did you take off your shirt?" She gave him a little grin. "That wasn't just a little treat for me, was it?"

Klaus chuckled and gently stroked her cheeks before stepping away to tie Julian's ankle to the camp bed. "I think you know the answer already, Angel," he told her. "Julian will feel disoriented and weak. Then he'll realize what's been done to him and he'll fight it because he's the kindest of human souls and won't want to transition fully. But then he'll lose control and the darkest parts of himself will take him hostage."

"Yes, I know all that," Angelica nodded. "But…" she trailed off and bit her lip, closing her eyes and taking another breath for courage because she was sure he wouldn't like what she was going to say. "I know you mean well doing this, and I certainly don't believe he deserved my father's wrath, but…I don't know if, in the condition I'm in, especially, I'm comfortable having him in our house when he's transitioning."

Klaus froze. Then it was his turn to close his eyes and take a calming breath. "Okay," he said at last. "I figured you would feel that way," he told the woman he was deeply in love with. "I'm not angry at you for feeling that way, Angel. I know it was hard for you to cut your ties with your father, regardless of the behavior that brought it on, and the fact that this man who was part of your parents' breakup is coming into your home and requiring your help and civility before you're necessarily ready to give it to him can't be helping at all, but…I'm still here for you if you need me. I don't like what your father did to two innocent human beings today. They didn't deserve it and even though I couldn't save Mrs. Johnson, I have to do everything I can to give Julian a second chance. And if you can't accept it…I think it would be best for you to leave here and find a hotel room to stay in until what needs to be done is done. I won't debate you on the subject. It is what it is! I won't hear another word against it out of that pretty mouth of yours!"

"You wouldn't be Klaus Mikaelson if you let me argue with you on things like that," she replied tonelessly.

"I see," he replied, his lips pursed, and his eyes narrowed. "I understand. Pack your bags and leave. I'll pay for the hotel and tell you when it's time for you to return."

"No!" She shook her head desperately, her eyes filling with tears. "You misunderstand me! What I mean is…you wouldn't bee the man I…" she trailed off, unable to finish.

"The man you?" He questioned, swallowing hard. "The man you what?"

"You wouldn't be the man I love if you didn't try to save Mrs. Johnson's grandson," she admitted to herself. Then she watched him cautiously, wondering how he would take what she just said: if he'd like it or if it would send him screaming in the other direction.

But he just looked at her, shook his head and chuckled, crossing his arms over his bare chest. Sometimes, he just didn't know what to do with her, but regardless, she was his wildest fantasy come to life!

"Of course, you choose this time out of all of them to say those three little words," he told her. "Can I ask why now, Angel? Do you mean it? Or are you just trying to distract me?"

"Of course, I'm not!" She pouted. "How dare you? I didn't know there was some timeline for me to say those three little words! I would have thought that you'd be okay with me waiting to say them until I meant them!"

"Those three little words? Those three little words?!" He was absolutely dumbfounded. "You need to leave now. Go outside and wait for the ambulance. If you don't, I won't be able to keep myself from throwing you over my shoulder and carrying you off to our bedroom," he threatened. "But you will have to hear about it if I can't save Julian. Maybe for the rest of time."

"Would it be so bad?" She teased, tilting her head and giving an adorable pout.

He rolled his eyes and sighed. "Come now, Angel. You're being mean!"

"I'm just joking!" She explained. "I know I'm not good at it. I might not be his biggest fan, but please try and save him…for my mother. I don't want him to suffer because my father decided to be cruel. This man is innocent and had no idea what he was getting himself into." She admitted at last, reluctantly.

"I'll do my damn best," Klaus promised and gave her a shy smile.

"Thank you," she sighed and gave a little shiver. "It's chilly down here. I better go upstairs. If there's anything I can do…let me know." She turned on her heel and headed toward the stairs when he called out to her.

"Angie?"

"Yes?" She turned her head to stare at him.

"I love you too," he told her and gave her a wink, grinning even wider as she blushed deep pink and made her way back up the stairs.

"Holy moly!" Selina exclaimed with a grin as she rolled on to her side of the bed, sweat covering her naked body as she put her arm over her head.

"What?" Elijah questioned with a grin as he looked her over.

"You…that sex drive of yours is really in high gear these days," she remarked.

"Are you kidding?" Elijah argued, wide-eyed. "What about you, darling?"

"Who followed whom into our bedroom in the middle of the day?" She pointed out.

"Yes, I did that, but that's because you were walking around in front of me in nothing but a pair of tiny little Betsy panties while I was just trying to read the paper in our living room!"

"You've seen me naked a gazillion times!" She pointed out. "There was no need to take me on the sofa, the bedroom wall, and the dresser even before we ended up here!"

"You could have refused me, and you didn't," he winked. "You could have just asked. Although walking around in your underwear is a new tactic that I want to see more often!"

"I wasn't trying to turn you on!" She said. "It's…it's my hormones! I shower and then I'm hot all over. That's why I walk around in my underwear if I know it's just gonna be us and I won't embarrass anyone."

"Well," Elijah grinned and moved to face her, his hands slowly sliding over her belly and then moving to cup her left breast. "Well, I certainly won't argue that you're hot, darling."

Selina raised an eyebrow. "Is this your way of asking for round two?" She chuckled. "And you still think it's me who's the sex addict!"

Elijah chuckled. "You think we're only on round two? I'd say five at least. If this is what we have to do while you're pregnant, so you don't suffer being all hot and bothered with no one to help…I guess it's up to me to ease your pain." He gave her a smile before moving to kiss her neck.

"You are impossible, Mr. Mikaelson!" She chuckled and lifted her left leg over his pelvis, then grabbed a fistful of his dark hair.

Just then, his cell phone rang, causing them to jump about a mile in the air. "Ignore it," he whispered, nibbling on her earlobe and then moving back to her breasts. "We're busy. Whoever it is can wait."

"What if it's one of the kids," Selina pointed out. "I think you should answer it. Make it quick, though."

He grabbed his phone and groaned. "It's not one of the children. It's Niklaus. It can certainly wait!"

"Are you crazy?!" Selina whispered. "Think of everything that's been going on with Angelica and Lucifer! We've been sucked into it, so take the call!" She then looked at the clock on the bedside table and got up out of bed, grabbing one of Elijah's shirts and putting it on. "It's time for me to get dinner ready anyway." She gave him a kiss and then tiptoed out of the room.

Elijah smiled and answered the phone. "What, brother? Can it wait?"

"What am I waiting for?" Klaus snapped back. "If it's for you and Selina to stop having sex, that's not gonna happen. And this is too important! Lucifer killed an old human woman and almost killed Eleanor's lover, Julian Johnson. He's the old woman's grandson. Everything happened at the house next door to mine."

Elijah sat up in bed, jaw dropped. "Please tell me you're joking!"

"I wish," Klaus replied with a sigh. "Anyway, I'm calling because Julian is also Mikael's driver, remember, and you'll need to call him and tell him what happened. I doubt he'll want to hear it from me."

"Oh, of course I will," Elijah assured him as he ran his fingers through his hair. "How is he? The human, I mean."

"He's not up yet," Klaus replied.

"And when you say Lucifer tried to kill this man, what do you mean?" Elijah continued, although in his gut he knew the answer

Klaus sighed. "What I mean is that Lucifer stabbed him, and he was nearly dead before I gave him my blood."

"So, he's transitioning currently," Elijah clarified.

"Yes, and I could use your help," Klaus muttered.

Elijah didn't give it another thought. "I'm on my way. Just hang on the best you can."

"I'll do my best," Klaus promised. "But it's been a while since we changed a human."

"I know," the eldest Mikaelson agreed before taking a deep breath. "And it's a struggle every time, isn't it? Depending on the how much the victim wants to be a vampire."

"Yeah." A pause. "On a lighter note, how was sex with your wife? Does her pregnancy make it better?"

"None of your damn business, Niklaus!" Elijah replied, even though he knew his brother was just teasing. "And why are you asking me? You're in a position to know the answer to that question! See you soon!"

He ended the call on his brother's laughter, got dressed, and went to the kitchen to let Selina know what was going on.

"Hey!" She greeted him with a smile from the kitchen island. "I was thinking some lasagna with tiramisu for dessert. Will that work for you?" She grinned wider. "Then we can work it off with strip poker!"

Elijah remained silent as he kept his eyes on hers and gripped the back of a chair.

"What's happened?" She asked, going pale. "What did Klaus say? Did something happen to Roxie, Adrian, or Lucy?" Tears began to fill her eyes at the thought.

"No, they're fine," Elijah assured her. "It's Lucifer. He killed Klaus' human neighbor. She was an old woman. And he tried to kill a man who was Eleanor's lover too. His name is Julian Johnson, he's Father's driver, and the grandson of Lucifer's victim."

"Has Lucifer lost his damn mind?" Selina asked, jaw dropping. She shouldn't have been shocked. He was the same man who had orchestrated things so that she was able to kill her own unfaithful lovers for almost a decade and get away with it. But at the same time, he'd been doing so well for so long. It was just such a shame. "What could have possessed him to kill an old human lady? I mean I get feeling upset about Eleanor's lover, but…it's still not good to kill him or anybody!"

"But apparently my brother didn't let him die," Elijah told her. "He gave him his blood."

And he's transitioning now?" Selina asked, her large blue eyes wide enough that they seemed to take up her whole face. "Jeepers!"

"Exactly," Elijah nodded. "That's why I need to go."

"And I'll come with you," Selina replied immediately. "Just let me go change. I promise it won't take long because I know time is of the essence!" She pulled off her apron and headed back in the direction of the bedroom, but Elijah grabbed her hand.

"I know you'll hate me for saying this, but remember, I have the best intentions: You're pregnant and I don't know what will happen. I…I'm uncomfortable with the risks you could be taking."

Selina put a fist on either side of her waist and glared at him. "Elijah Mikaelson, I am touched by your concern, but this is not the first time I've seen a vampire transition! I'm uncomfortable with the risks you could be taking too, and I am not just gonna sit alone at home and wait to hear way too late if you got hurt or something." She locked eyes with him. "Do you understand me?"

"I do understand what you're saying and why you're worried," he assured her. "But for once, please listen to me. Do as I ask. I don't know Julian Johnson personally, but he probably won't react well to the news of the transition. It could be dangerous, and I don't want to risk you." He gave her a kind smile. "For once, please do this for me. If you weren't pregnant we'd be out of here in a minute. Does it help you to know that?"

"Yes," Selina sighed and closed her eyes. "Fine. But you have to call me and keep me posted. And be sure you talk to Angelica. She must be devastated by all this."

He nodded. "Yes, ma'am." Then he gently kissed her forehead before turning and heading for the door. Bake lots of delicious lasagna for me, all right? I can't wait to taste it!"

Selina chuckled. "You'll get your wish," she assured him. "With the way I'm feeling, there'll be enough food for an army when you return."

"All right," Lucifer snapped as he parked his car, opened the back door, and pulled Ellie out of it. "We're home now! Will you shut up and go inside?"

"This hasn't been home for me for ages," she shot back, pulling out of his iron grip and rubbing her wrist after stumbling a little. "What do you plan to do with me now? Chain me to a wall?"

Lucifer grinned and, once they were inside, he put his keys on the table and poured himself a large glass of whiskey that he drank in one gulp. "You know, that's not a bad idea."

Ellie strode over to him and stared at him with narrowed eyes. "What you did today Lucifer was awful and cruel. You've lost your mind. You've gone off the deep end."

"Well, if you think about it, darling wife," Lucifer told her, "you started all this." He turned to face her. "You were unfaithful. You lied to me. And you lost everything all for a human man who couldn't even save his own grandmother from death."

"You bastard!" She snapped as tears filled her eyes. "We separated because nothing was left between us anymore. What we had is done. I had every right to find happiness in the arms of Julian Johnson!"

Lucifer chuckled and clasped his hands together. "Oh, yes, dear Julian. The human with the heart of gold!" He rolled his eyes and poured himself another drink. "Just because I'm curious and delight in stories of failure, tell me…how was he in bed? Awful? I bet he didn't know how to fuck you the right way. Or did it scare him when you let him know what a whore you are in bed? I bet it did. I bet he doesn't know what he's got to live up to."

Ellie grinned as she thought of Julian roughly taking her against the table and how thrilling it had been.

"What?" Lucifer asked, eyebrow raised. "Why are you smiling?"

"No reason," she shook her head. "I assume you're asking just to stir me up and not because you want to try him out."

"Oh, please," Lucifer chuckled. "He's not my type. Although I've seen plenty of them in your absence. It's nice to be with a man again."

"I would agree," Ellie shot back. "And since Julian is a vampire now, that's how it's gonna be for a long time. He'll have all the time in the world to know what I like!"

Lucifer winced. "Eleanor, you're delusional if you think for even a second that you'll be able to go back to your lover! You see," he settled gracefully on the arm of the large sofa. "This bastard child that you're carrying will be mine in every way possible. No one will know I'm not the father."

Eleanor tilted her head and gave a humorless chuckle. "Who's delusional? It's certainly not me! Angelica will come back for me, and I'll help Julian transition sooner rather than later." She paused. "As for this baby, she'll never be yours, Lucifer! Ever!"

"Look at it this way, darling. That baby could easily replace the child I'll kill if you don't fulfill your obligations as my wife." He paused, looking thoughtful. "Now let's see…who would I pick?" He rose to his feet and began stroking his chin. "What about Milo? Your cherished son now that Vincent is too busy to pay any attention to you."

Eleanor went pale, letting out a cry she wanted desperately to keep in as she clutched the back of a chair so he wouldn't have the satisfaction of seeing her faint from shock.

"You despicable ass!" She cried. "You'd really kill one of your own children just to spite me?"

"Well, after losing my pride and joy to that bastard Klaus Mikaelson, why not?" He shrugged. "Although I do believe in time, Angelica could be persuaded to come back where she belongs."

Eleanor then winced and let out a cry of pain, holding her stomach as she felt a good, strong kick.

"What's wrong, woman?" Lucifer groaned and rolled his eyes at her disdainfully.

"The baby just kicked! Not that I expect you to give a damn," She replied dryly. "My daughter is smart. She already hates you with everything she has in her!"

Lucifer shook his head and burst out laughing at her foolishness. "Your daughter? What makes you think that bastard of yours is a girl?"

"I just know in my heart that she is. She'll be a force of nature just like her father! Full of love and compassion for others and complete and utter disdain and hatred for you!"

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "Will the theatrics ever end, Eleanor? Do we have a deal? You'll stay put in this mansion as my wife, telling everyone that we're expecting again and happy to add to our family or…I'll get rid of someone you love. Milo, to be precise."

"What…what have you become?" She asked, tears rolling down her cheeks and neck.

"This shouldn't surprise you," he told her. "I'm the devil, after all. It's what people expect from me." He went to pour himself another drink. "Have you forgotten?" But as he turned away from her, he sobered up. Of course, he wouldn't kill his own son. But it…it was the only way to get her to stay, thinking he would! He was just doing what he had to do!

"You do realize there will be serious repercussions for what you've done today? The Council won't let you get away with murder," Eleanor pointed out.

He burst out laughing. "You think I'm frightened by the Council?" He asked. "I'll find a way to save myself, woman. I always do." He downed another glass. "Now, I think you should to bed and rest. We wouldn't want to create more stress for your little girl, now would we?" He smirked.

She wiped tears from her eyes, turned on her heel, and strode off.

"Check and mate, my dear," he called, raising a glass to his own brilliance without waiting for a reply.

Just as Eleanor left the room, slammed the door behind her, and made her way back up the stairs to her room with tears in her eyes, the tall silhouette of a person who had been hiding in the dark and had heard the whole conversation turned away, tears rolling down his cheeks as he made his way to the garages, stopping for a few seconds to grab a snack in the kitchen. Then, when he reached the garage at last, Milo swore as he shut the door behind him, sitting in the front seat of his sports car and shoving the cookies he'd brought into his mouth, not even caring that there were crumbs on the floor and on the seats. That's how upset he was. Besides that, who knew how much longer he'd have these cookies? Even though his mom could be a stress baker just as easily as baking because it brought her joy, it felt wrong to ask her to make more when she was miserable. And she'd probably leave as soon as she had the chance, then there would be no cookies at all. He had to enjoy them while they lasted.

Once he'd calmed down enough, he grabbed his phone from his jeans, calling Natalie Mikaelson.

"Hey," she greeted cheerfully. "What's up? Wanna see a movie tonight or something?"

Just hearing a happy voice made him burst into tears, an anguished sound that filled both the car and Natalie's ears on the other end of the line.

"Milo, what's wrong?" She asked. She didn't sound happy now. She sounded scared. But he couldn't tell her. He didn't want to scare her like his father was scaring his mother. "You're scaring me! Just talk to me, please!"

"Sorry," he muttered. "I didn't mean to scare you. I don't want to scare you. That's the last thing I want, in fact. Just some stuff at home, that's all." Then he changed his tone to a whisper. "Natalie…are you busy? Can I…can I come see you?"

"Of course, I'm not busy," Natalie told him. "That's why I asked if you wanted to see a movie, but…do you have something else in mind? Why don't you come to the apartment? It's nice and quiet there."

"But what about your mother?" Milo questioned. "I don't want to disturb your mother."

"Oh, that won't happen," she assured him. "Mom moved into the main apartment with Uncle Kol after they got married. The smaller place is all mine now."

"Okay, I'll come," he sniffled, a shy smile spreading across his lips as some of the weight on his shoulders lessened.

"Hurry up, okay?" She said. "What ever is wrong, it's nothing we can't fix. It's all gonna be okay."

"Yeah," he told her. "Yeah it is. I'll be there in fifteen. And thanks!"

"You're welcome," Natalie told him. "And I'll be waiting for you."

They ended the call and Milo grinned to himself as he started the engine and made his way back to sanity.

"I'm not surprised by everything you're telling me," Kol said, his cellphone set snugly in the crook of his right shoulder as he threw the last odds and ends into his carry-on. "I've never really liked the guy. Way too pompous and pretentious. And what makes him think he can just kill anyone and get away with it. It's not hundreds of years ago when we could just kill whoever we needed to in order to stay alive. It's modern times and things have changed!"

"And of course, I agree with what you're saying, brother," Elijah assured him. "But you know, unfortunately, that Lucifer is related to the family in more ways than one. So, we can't just ignore him. We have to find a way to help him before he just sets everything on fire!" He gave a loud sigh as he thought of all the work they would have to do to accomplish that.

"Are you on your way to Klaus'?" Kol asked.

"Yes, I am in my car as we speak," Elijah replied. "I'm going to try and help Klaus with Julian Johnson's transition. "Even though it's been a while, I think we'll manage."

"Is Father aware of what's going on with his chauffeur?" Kol continued. "If not, he's going to have to know sometime, even though I know it's a conversation neither of us wants to have with him."

"Don't worry, I'm taking the bullet," Elijah assured his brother. "Father is going to be my next call once we're done."

"And that makes me curious about why you're talking to me first," Kol remarked. "Do you have any ideas about what to do with Lucifer Morningstar? Personally, I think he should just be chained to a wall and left to rot, but…" he trailed off, throwing one last t-shirt into his bag and shrugged one shoulder.

"Well, about that…" Elijah cleared his throat. "Could you please talk to Amy? Maybe she can talk some sense into him. Start his therapy up again. She used to and look what she did with Klaus when she was working with him!"

"Out of the question," Kol returned flatly. "I'm not going to let my wife go anywhere near that bastard. Besides, I think I'm on thin ice enough as it is…or at least we're not in any sort of honeymoon phase yet. I don't want to risk making things worse by insisting she spend time with that bastard."

"What do you mean you think you're on thin ice enough as it is?" Elijah asked. "What have you done to her? Is she okay? I mean I know she was out of sorts at the wedding, but if it's something more serious than just pregnancy hormones…"

"It's not!" Kol cut his brother off before he could ask any more stupid questions. "What am I, on trial here? It'll be fine. I was just a little overzealous about moving her in with me, that's all. Now, back to Lucifer: I repeat, no way in hell should Amy feel she has to deal with him."

"I understand what you're saying," Elijah assured him. "I do. And honestly, I can't argue with you. But I can't not put the idea out there. I would even keep Selina away from Lucifer if I could, but you know her. You try and tell her what to do, even if it's for a good reason, and she'll just fight you/

"I do," Kol agreed. "But she's a strong woman, your wife. And if he brings her any trouble, I know she'll be able to handle it." He paused. "Unless there are any more urgent matters you need to tell me, brother, I have to finish getting ready to leave for the airport now. Good luck with Julian Johnson's transition."

"Thank you," Elijah replied. "Is this a couple's trip? Is Amy going with you?"

"No," Kol sighed. "Not with the baby coming. It's too risky. Talk to you when I get back!"

"Yes we will," Elijah agreed and ended the call.

Kol slung his carry-on duffel over his right shoulder and grabbed his passport before jogging down the corridor that led to the open concept dining room/kitchen.

Amy was on the couch and flipping through a magazine with one hand on her small belly. She wouldn't admit it to Kol, at least not yet anyway, but every time she felt the baby moving, goosebumps broke out all over her body. It just…sometimes it was hard to believe that the child was actually theirs!

Suddenly, she raised her head, glancing up at the man she was forced to call her husband. "What are you doing with that bag?" She asked, eyes narrowed. "Where are you going? You're not abandoning me after that big fuss you made about us getting married and you getting me moved in here, are you?" She put her magazine down on the coffee table and stood up.

"No, I'm not abandoning you," Kol told her. "I just…have to go to the airport. Don't worry."

"How can I not worry when I have no clue what's going on?" She asked. "Why do you have to go? Where are you going?" She strode over to him, thinking that him being gone was making her feel things that she wasn't ready to feel.

"My good friend Caedmon needs me. There are problems in his village, and he thinks I can help." He explained, tucking a strand of red hair that escaped from her ponytail behind her ear.

"Is everything okay?" She asked curiously. "Well, obviously everything is not okay, but…can I ask, how bad is it?"

"There are strange deaths happening in his village," Kol replied. "And they have no idea what's causing it. He's getting desperate and that's why I'm going. I wouldn't live you alone if it weren't absolutely necessary."

"You don't have to worry about that," she scoffed. "I can take care of myself." She put a hand on her belly. "And anyone else who's coming along too!"

"Oh, I know you can, darling," he told her, stroking the tip of her nose as he smirked.

"Stop!" She demanded and slapped his hand away before crossing her arms and pouting. "Who were you talking to in your bedroom? This friend of yours in Africa?"

"Oh, no," Kol shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "That was Elijah and a whole other set of problems!"

"What sort of problems?" Amy asked, wide-eyed. "When were you going to mention this to me?"

"Hey there," Kol pointed a finger at her. "I don't have time for kinky, angry sex right now so calm down!"

"Stop it," Amy shook her head, not amused, if the remark was, in fact, meant to be amusing. "What happened with Elijah? Is there a problem at the farm? Are Selina and the baby hurt?"

"No," Kol sighed. "Everyone at the farm is just dandy. It's Lucifer who's the problem. I wouldn't care usually, but the fit he's throwing is having repercussions on the world."

Amy's eyes widened. "Lucifer Morningstar?" She shook her head, dumbfounded. "What's he done now?"

"He killed a human," Kol explained. "And almost killed her grandson."

"What in the world would make him want to do something so horrible?" Amy asked, shaking her head and feeling utter shock. "The Council doesn't technically have any control over him, but I know they won't just let the murder of a human stand!"

"The man who was almost killed is Eleanor's human lover. That might have something to do with why Lucifer did what he did." Kol shrugged.

"Her lover?" Amy repeated. "Eleanor has a human lover?"

"Yes," Kol nodded. "My father's chauffeur and Klaus' neighbor for the time being, if you can believe it. Although he's not going to be human for much longer. Although he didn't kill him, Lucifer injured him pretty badly and Klaus gave him his blood. He's transitioning and Elijah is heading over to help."

"I really can't believe Eleanor took a human lover," Amy shook her head, blown away by the news. "And that the relationship made the poor man be injured and need to become a vampire."

"Well, I don't blame her one bit, considering how horrible her husband is, and that she kind of got stuck with him," Kol replied with a shrug.

"I know a thing or two about that," Amy replied, sighing loudly.

"No, no, no," Kol chuckled. "Don't you go comparing me to that asshole, Amy Burke Mikaelson!"

She rolled her eyes and began to pace the length of the Persian rug. "Maybe I can help Lucifer come back to himself," she thought out loud, biting her nails just a little. "If I could get him in for a few sessions."

"No, don't you dare!" Kol shook his head. "I don't want you or our son anywhere near that jerk!"

"Excuse me…what did you say?" She asked, turning on her heel to face him, a fist on either hip. "Since when do you get to order me around, Kol Mikaelson?" She poked a finger in his chest. "This is my decision. And while I'm touched by your concern, I think you need to back off and let me do what I want to do!"

Kol chuckled. "That's not what you said last night when you let me tie you to the bed," he tilted his head and grinned at her. "Who was the boss then?"

She blushed bright red and took a step back, her eyes on her shoes. "When will you be back?"

"I'm touched you would miss your romantic husband so much," he winked playfully. "Don't worry, I'll only be gone for a week at most. Eric Anderson is a werewolf friend of Klaus' and a pilot who will fly me to the island."

"Where you'll be gone for a week…" Amy got out.

"Yes, I…" He stared at her. Her cheeks were flushed, her breathing was picking up, and she was biting her lip in a very seductive way.

He got up to head out the door, but she grabbed his hand and pulled him back onto the sofa, kissing him soundly. They began making out as she pulled on his shirt, sneaking her hand under it to stroke the skin there. But as he slipped his hand under her panties, his eyes widened and he stopped, pulling away.

"Nice try, darling, but I have to go!"

"You bastard!" She yelled in frustration

"Oh, don't make a fuss!" He told her. "Here," he pulled a box of batteries out and handed them to her. "These will help with your frustration."

"Why would I need batteries?"

"For your vibrator, darling!" He grinned. "And remember that you can call me any time while I'm gone. You remember my number, don't you?"

"Yes, but why would I want to call you?" She did her best to sound indifferent.

"To hear the sound of my voice," he murmured. "Just like I'll be eager to hear yours."

Goosebumps broke out all over her body again. "Really?"

"What do you think?" He took her chin in his hand and kissed her gently. "Take care of our boy, all right? And please keep your nose out of Lucifer's business!"

"I'm not stupid," Amy shook her head. "Now, are you gonna go or not?"

"I will," he said. "Enjoy your vibrator!"

Just as he reached the door, she threw a pillow at him. "You're a real son of a bitch, you know that, right?"

He turned, unbothered. "I'll miss you too, darling!" Then he blew her a kiss and made his way out the door to his car.
