sup, yall can call me jake. "long" story short basically if my 11 year old self in 2017 found out i would be writing a fanfic in 2023, i woulda prolly burnt my whole house down or some shit. but idc anymore, my obession with them gabby cats is too strong, my mind has grown and changed and so now im doin this. this is my first real attempt at writing a full fanfic, so i know its prolly kinda ass, my apologies 4 that, dont help that i prolly wrote half this while havin brain fog. idk how many people are gonna be reading this, but whoever is i hope yall can enjoy this corny ass fic i wrote up.

before the story starts heres some "slight" changes made to the shows world in this story compared to the actual show:

1. Gabby is 15 years old (thought that her being slightly older would be better for this story).

2. Pandy lives inside the Dollhouse full time (but not Gabby tho).

The bright sun outside shined through the windows of the Dollhouse. It was just a simple, nice day that someone could potentially enjoy to the fullest, if they chose, or if they even felt like they could in the first place.

Nothing special was going on that day inside the Dollhouse. In fact, its been a little while, about a few months to be exact, since anything really "special" had went on. Those past few months or so inside the Dollhouse, have felt just a little bit more "different", than usual.

Gabby and Pandy were in the Kitchen with Cakey, helping him prepare lunch for all of the Gabby Cats. Lunch wasnt anything special either, just some basic sandwhiches, with each sandwhich and everything thats on them being specially ordered by every Gabby Cat.

"I needa grab some more lettuce out of the Fridge real quick, you guys just keep working on Baby Box and DJ Catnip's sandwhiches, okay?" Cakey asked Gabby and Pandy, who were both sitting at the center table, already preparing both of their sandwhiches.

"On It." Pandy responded, as he placed some more ham onto Baby Boxes Sandwhich, Pandy so far had been in a really good mood that day, he also had been in a pretty much constant good mood for the past few days as well, as he felt that things were finally going as normal again inside of the Dollhouse.

"Gabby, I know I've said this like, a million times already, but, I'm so glad that you're walking and feeling normal again." Pandy, who was fueled by his good mood, told his best friend, who was sitting right next to him as usual.

"Yeah, I know Pandy, everythings back to normal..." Gabby replied back, smiling at him.

Unfourtunatley, Gabby knew that things weren't really "normal" like he had said. She was hiding something that she had only just learned yesterday, not just from him, but from all of the Gabby Cats. It was something important, something... not so good, that she knew she had to tell Pandy first, but she didnt think that he was gonna take it well at all.

A few months ago, Gabby was driving with her Father, just heading to the Store to grab some basic groceries, when a driver who was speeding down the highway in which they we're driving on very fast (They weren't even drunk or anything, they we're pretty much just being a complete dumbass.) had caused them to swerve off the road, and crash very hard into a tree just off the side of the road, with them both having to be airlifted to the Hospital afterwards.

They had both recieved a fairly large amount of injuries, with Gabby especially having recieved the most of them, including fractures in her ribs, hands, and a very large fracture in her left leg, also having suffered a concussion after being knocked out immediently after the accident had occured. Despite those, and a number of other injuries that were a result of the accident, the Doctors said that she would be okay, and she would be able to make a full recovery.

Inside the Dollhouse, the Gabby Cats only found out about the accident a whole day after it had happened, after having recieved a very special "emergency letter" which was sent by Gabby from the Hospital. All of the Gabby Cats were obviously very shocked to hear that she had gotten into a car accident, but thankful that she was going to be okay. But they would have to endure who knows how long, without her presence in the Dollhouse. During that time while Gabby was in the Hospital, it was the longest that the Gabby Cats had ever went without her being in the Dollhouse, a Dollhouse that surely felt very, very different without her.

She would have to stay in the Hospital for a whole long month, and after she had finally returned home, she would have to wear a cast thing or whatever on her left leg, and she would have to walk using crutches for a whole 2 months, which included having to wear/use those inside of the Dollhouse as well.
Things thankfully were feeling more normal once Gabby had finally returned. But, with Gabby having a injured left leg for those next 2 months after she had come back, things around the Dollhouse just still didn't feel truly back to normal yet.

After going through some physical therapy and whatever, just a week ago Gabby was finally able to take off her cast and stop using crutches, and she was able to walk normally again for the first time in about over 3 months since the accident. Things around the Dollhouse had finally started to feel normal once again after that, and she and all of the Gabby Cats had expected that everything would truly go back to normal like they had always been, right?

Unfortunately for Gabby, and all of the Gabby Cats, that doesn't look like that's going to happen...

When Gabby was at the Doctor, for another post accident checkup yesterday, during a routine X-ray the Doctor had made a very unfortunate discovery.

Gabby was not good with remembering or fully understanding medical junk at all, but from what she could understand, some part of her chest or her ribs that broke as a result of the accident had been poking closer and closer to her heart or something. And in about like 2 months or so from now, whatever is exactly going on with all that would basically cause her heart to stop working, killing her.

There is one way to potentially stop that from happening though, a surgery to fix that broken piece that's threatining to stop her heart, a surgery that she was now already scheduled to go under in almost exactly a month from now. So, the surgery will fix everything up and Gabby will be just fine, right? Unfortunately, that doesn't look to be the case.

When discussing the surgery yesterday, the Doctor had told her that broken piece is just a little too close to her heart already at this point, and that would create a whole lot of room for failure as a result. And so, the surgery only has about a 20% chance of sucess, that's if she was lucky. Chances were way, way higher that she would die during the procedure.

However, if she didnt go through with the surgery, she would eventually die anyways, about a week or so after her scheduled surgery date as the Doctor had said. Meaning that this surgery is the one and only chance that Gabby has at saving her life.

Usually, Gabby took things that had chances that were looking near impossible like this with stride, since if she, or one of the Gabby Cats didnt get it on the first try, or if they had made a mistake, they could always try again. They even had a damn song about it.
But this time around, if a "Whoopsie" was made by one of the Surgeons, which chances are, that's probably what's gonna happen, then obviously it isn't gonna be so "Okay", because then Gabby would already be dead, and obviously it would be too late. Besides, Gabby and the Gabby Cats had no control at all on what would happen during the surgery.

Gabby was, of course still really hoping that she would make it out of the surgery alive, and able to stay alive for the long years ahead. But unfortunately, again, those chances were looking a little bit too low. So, she knew that she had to prepare Pandy and all of the Gabby Cats as if she was already 100% confirmed to be dying in about a month. Gabby had always had several different plans in mind to discuss with the Gabby Cats about what to do if she were to be gone, for a long period of time, or forever. But she had never gotten the chance to do so, as she felt it was far too soon. But now, with the news she had just recieved yesterday, and a months time ahead for everything, it was important for hetrto prepare the Gabby Cats for her being gone now more than ever.

Gabby herself wasn't even really that nervous or sad about all of this, in fact, she was most worried on how the Gabby Cats, especially Pandy, would take the news, and how she would properly prepare them for the likely outcome. If she had died, the Gabby Cats weren't just going to die with her like that. The Gabby Cats would stay alive just the same, but now having to live without their leader that their whole group was litterally named after. And obviously that would just change all of their lives in the Dollhouse completely, having to deal with the hardships associated with her loss. Which is why it is so important to prepare them to be able to go on without her, in the best way possible. She feels blessed she even has the time to prepare them for this, as she could've already died entirely unexpectedly, which that woulda just been 10x worse.

And she knew she couldn't waste any time at all to tell them the news. So, she had planned on first telling Pandy today, right after they were finished helping Cakey out with lunch. She would tell him somewhere private in the Fairytale Garden, as that was the best place to find someplace to talk where no one could be able to hear there conversation. Then, she would gather all the rest of the Gabby Cats to tell them the news, and start preparing them for if she were to pass, either tonight, or if not, sometime early tommorrow morning. But she's hoping she'll get it all over with tonight.

Gabby continued to think about how exactly she would go about telling Pandy the news, as she slowly continued to prepare all of the sandwhiches.

It didn't take that long at all before everybody's sandwhiches were done and all bagged up, ready to be eaten.

"Alllll done." Cakey said, after finishing bagging the last sandwhich "Will you guys be able to help me bring these up to all the Gabby Cats?"

"I'm so sorry Cakey, we can't help you with delivering them today, we promised Kitty Fairy we'd help her with something really important in the Fairytale Garden." Gabby had awnsered Cakey "But we can bring Kitty Fairy her sandwhich on our way up."

"Oh thats okay, I can deliver them all myself." He responded, handing Gabby the bag containing Kitty Fairy's sandwhich. "Thanks for helping me make lunch!"

"Of course, bye Cakey!" Gabby welcomed him back, as she and Pandy rushed onto Cat-A-Vator.

"Bye!" Cakey bid them farewell as they had left the Kitchen.

Cat-A-Vator's door closed and they we're now being transported to the Fairytale Garden.

"Wait, Gabby, you never said anything about us helping Kitty Fairy out with something...?" Pandy questioned Gabby as they were riding in a moving Cat-A-Vator.

"I- I'll tell you when we get there." She quickly awnsered.

Quickly enough, they had arrived in the Fairytale Garden. Gabby thanked Cat-A-Vator as they ran off as usual.

As soon as they entered, they immediently noticed Kitty Fairy doing some routine watering on all of her plants.

"Hey Kitty Fairy." Gabby greeted the pink fairy cat, placing the bag with her sandwhich on a picnic table right beside her.

"Oh hey Gabby, hey Pandy!" Kitty Fairy greeted them back "What brings you two to the Garden?"

"I need to talk to Pandy about something private, can we go sit up in the Treehouse for a bit?" Gabby asked her.

"Oh of course you can, go ahead!" Kitty Fairy awnsered her question.

"Ok, thanks!" Gabby thanked her, as she ran off with Pandy again to the Treehouse.

"Of course Gabby!" Kitty Fairy welcomed her, briefly thinking about what the hell they could possibly be talking about, before deciding that it was none of her business and quickly going back to watering her plants.

As the two best friends headed towards the Treehouse, a still confused Pandy asked Gabby, "Something private? Is it important? Is it something bad?"

"Yes, Pandy, it's important. And I'm afraid that its something thats, well... not good..." Gabby had awnsered him. Pandy quickly became worried after hearing Gabby say those last 2 words.

The two climbed up the Treehouse and both sat down next to each other at the front of it.

"Look Pandy..." Gabby started the conversation slowly, mentally preparing herself to tell Pandy the horrible news. "Of course y- you know that car accident I had months ago?" She simply asked her best friend.

"Yea, you're all normal, y- you're all better now right?" Pandy awnsered back to her. His heart started beating very fast, continuing to feel even more nervous about what Gabby was gonna tell him.

"Well, no Pandy, I'm not all normal again..., You remember after the accident I had fractured ribs and bones near my chest or... Whatever? Well, yesterday the Doctor told me that one of those bones didnt properly heal, and that bone keeps getting closer to my heart, and eventually, in just over a month from now, that bone is gonna make my heart stop working and K- K- Kill me..." she continued, with it feeling difficult for her to have to tell him that last part.

"But, if I get this surgery to fix that bone, that could potentially save my life. B- but, the thing is, the surgery has an 80% chance of failure, and if I dont get this surgery, I'll be d- dead anyways, that surgery is the only chance at saving my life that I have. So, I'm so sorry to have to tell you this Pandy, but... I'm afraid there's a good chance that I'm gonna die in about a month..." Gabby had finished.

Pandy's whole body froze up, feeling like somebody had just stabbed the sharpest knife into his heart over 50 times. He was in complete, absolute shock at what Gabby had just told him. At that moment, he was genuinely hoping that Gabby was just testing how he would react to her telling him a cruel, horrible joke like this. But Gabby would never, Gabby would NEVER lie about something like this. She looked and sounded to him like she was telling the truth as well. He knew everything about his best friend, including everything about the way she acted. And to him, all of the signs were there. What she was saying was true. 100% true.

Pandy just sat there, silent for nearly a whole minute, in total disbelief, while Gabby just looked at him, anxiously waiting for him to say something, that was until Pandy finally started to tear up. "Wh- W- What? Nooooooo!" he finally responded, now starting to cry "Y- Yo- You cant! Y- You cant be dying! Y- You were gonna be here f- forever!"

"Im so sorry Pandy, but, there's really nothing I can do..." Gabby painfully responded back to him. Pandy just kept on crying harder and harder... "Nooooooo! Please noooo! Y- You cant leave me forever Gabby! Y- You're my best friend in the whole entire world! You m- mean everything to me, I cant live wi- without you, I just c- cant!" Pandy continued as he hugged onto his best friend tightly, crying into her shirt. He just couldn't believe it, he just couldn't believe what horrible things he was hearing. He wasn't having a nightmare, she wasn't playing some sick joke on him, what she was saying to him was the truth, a horrible, horrible truth.

Gabby just lightly embraced him back as he kept crying. Unfortunately this was the exact kind of reaction that Gabby had expected he would have. She felt horrible having to see the poor cat cry like this, after having to tell him that she was more than likely gonna die in about a month, and there was nothing that she could do about it, except to just hope & pray. She also felt really hurt having to hear him say how he thought that he would never be able to live without her, forever, when she knew that wasn't true at all. Gabby knew that would by far be the hardest challenge that he, and all of the Gabby Cats would ever have to face in their lifetimes. But she knew that the Gabby Cats were a team, and they were strong, never giving up when times are tough. And she knew in her heart that they could do it, she knew that they would be able to move on and live without her, including Pandy. She just needed to help prepare them for it. And thankfully, she had a whole month ahead to do so.

After about 30 seconds or so of none of the two speaking, with Pandy just continuing to hold onto her tightly as his tears kept soaking up part of her shirt, Gabby finally spoke up again.

"Well Pandy... I'm not dead... Yet!" Gabby said in her usual optimistic tone "And I might not even die, there's still a chance that the surgery will actually go well, and that I will be able to stay alive for long time! But, unfortunately that possibilty isn't looking so good for me right now, so I cant take any chances. I need to prepare you and everyone, as if It was 100% confirmed that i'm going to die. And sadly, there's nothing that we can do about it, except to just hope & pray that by some miracle I make it out ok. I really hate to have to tell you that Pandy, I really wish that I could sit here and tell you that things were going to be ok right now, at least for me, but I have to face the fact that I can't. I have to tell you the harsh truth." She continued, as Pandy slowly started to cry a bit less than before, listening to everything that she had to say.

"And look, I know it may seem hard, impossible even, to be able to live without me being here. But Pandy, I know that you can. I know that you and everyone will be able to go on and live life without me. If you Gabby Cats combine all your strength, and push through this whole thing togheter, you CAN do it! You and all the Gabby Cats CAN live without me! I know that all the Gabby Cats are here for you Pandy, and i'm 100% sure that things are gonna eventually be ok in the end, I promise you." Gabby had finished. Pandy was now only crying a little bit, after hearing Gabby's motivational talk, just like she had usually given to him, or any of the other Gabby Cats, when they were feeling down about something.

"Y- You really think so?" Pandy asked her in response.

"Yea! I really do! You know that I would never lie to you about something like that!" Gabby reassured him.

"And Pandy, I- I just want you to know that I love you, and I always will, no matter what happens to me. And if I do end up dying, then know that I will always be there with you in your heart." She continued. "And, in this month ahead that is certain we still have togheter, I will make sure that I show you just how much I love you, in all the best ways that I possibly can. You mean the whole world to me Pandy, You've always been the one that I could count on to be there for me, and I will always love you, even when I'm gone. Remember that." Gabby finally had finished with everything important that she had to say to Pandy.

"Thanks, I- I love you too Gabby." Pandy responded, still clearly sounding sad, but finally letting go of her. "So, when are y- you gonna tell the other Gabby Cats about this?"

"Well, I was planning on doing so tonight. That's also when I wanna talk more about getting you and everyone prepared for when I'm gone. I- I just wanted to tell you about everything privately first." Gabby awnsered back to him. "And I know we have plently of time to do all that, but it's time that cannot possibly be wasted."

"Oh, o- ok." He simply replied.

"Come on Pandy, we can still go somewhere to just relax if you're up for it." Gabby offered him, as she got up and began to climb down from the Treehouse.

"Actually Gabby, can I stay up here alone and just, think about everything for a while?" Pandy asked her.

"Oh, of course Pandy, you can stay up here for as long as you need!" She kindly awnsered "I'll be in the bathroom with MerCat once you're ready." She added, climbing down from the Treehouse back onto the ground below them.

"Bye Pandy!" Gabby said as they both went there seprate ways.

Pandy just said "Goodbye!" back to her. "Goodbye..." Pandy repeated to himself quietly once Gabby was out of sight. He really had to face the fact that he would probably have to tell her goodbye for the last time, in only a month from now.

Now with him being alone, his brain really began to process everything she had just told him.

He was still in disbelief. This wasnt a nightmare that he was about to wake up from any second now or anything. This was real, all too real. Gabby was probably gonna die In a month, and there was nothing that he could do about it. Sure, she was probably right about the other Gabby Cats being able to move on without her, despite how hard that might be. But what about him? He didnt realize until litterally just now, that all he is, is pretty much just a lame asisstant to Gabby, a very smart and inspirational leader, two things that Pandy felt like he didnt posess at all. In fact, he felt like most of the advice that Gabby gave was to him, and like, if he had said he was about to give up on something, Gabby would always give him a quick motivational talk to encourage him to keep on trying. And sure, that would always cheer him up and give him the motivation he needed right afterwards. But he would always eventually find himself in a situation where he was about to give up, and Gabby would need to give him that motivation again. It's almost like he never even actually learned anything that she's ever taught him. He felt like it was because he was just too stupid for his small brain to even try and attempt to understand any of that.

What DOES he even have? All of the other Gabby Cats had at least something special about them. Cakey is an amazing cook. DJ Catnip is a multi-talented musicsian. MerCat is an amazing scientist, is even smarter than Gabby, and is also an amazing stylist and knows everything related to water/underwater. Pillow Cat is extremely creative and imagintive, she could efforlessly make up great stories. Baby Box is also very creative, is amazing at crafts, and is an amazing artist. Carlita is very athletic and strong. Kitty Fairy was an expert at gardening. And even CatRat was great at playing a good bad guy role. What did HE Have? Other than being Gabby's asisstant? Nothing. He had nothing special about him at all.

He was right, he really meant it when he told her that she meant everything to him, litterally. And he just doesnt see at all how he could possibly live without her. All the other Gabby Cats would be able to eventually move on just fine, because they all had there own talents they could just continue to focus on. But for him, without Gabby, he would litterally just be completely useless. No talents, no smarts, he bet if he even tried to take Gabby's place as a "leader" that he would litterally just completely fuck everything up.

He then also started to think that the other Gabby Cats also had felt that same way about him, that all he had was being Gabby's dumb asisstant, and that without her, he was litterally nothing, except they were just far too afraid to actually admit it. Did any of the other Gabby Cats even like him for himself?

All those terrible thoughts just continued to circulate throughout Pandy's mind, as he began to tear up and start crying once again. He couldn't. He just couldn't. He couldn't live without her, he would just be nothing but a worthless, dumb cat who wasnt actually good at anything at all. He even thought that if he were to die at the exact same time as Gabby, that the Gabby Cats would only care about Gabby's death, completely ignoring his.

Pandy already did not like having to deal with change, not at all. How would he deal with the biggest change of his whole life? Was there really anything more to him than just being Gabby's helper? How would he possibly be able to find a way to go on in this life without her?

first chapter done now, to me it seems to be a bit shorter than i thought it would be, but i got some hopefully bigger plans for the rest of this story. also i know that the thing thats probably gonna kill gabby is kinda dumb, but i litterally couldnt think of nothin else that wasn't already overdone like crazy, but as the most underrated gabby cat always says, lets just roll with it (goddamn i'm so corny). chapter 2 we gonna first see gabby tellin all the other gabby cats the news then pandy is gonna have a pretty helpful talk with mercat, she gonna play a bigger role in this story btw. it'll be out when its out. love yall gabby fans.
