Today was the first day you were going to be outside your village. As a young up-coming hunter, it was important to understand that the outside area was different from your home. You looked around, seeing the forest that was a few miles from your village.
"Stay together, children!" Your teacher said, breaking your attention.
Two full-time hunters stood next to him, ready to defend everyone from any monsters that attacked. You looked at them, finding them so amazing. Your teacher started to explain about the forest and some of the Monsters that were seen. You listen well, knowing it will help you become a better hunter. However, you suddenly hear something in the forest and turn to look. You don't see anything, but you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched.
One of the Hunters notices you and turns in the diction you're facing. Much like you, he couldn't see anything, but his skills as a hunter told him to be ready.
"What is it?" His partner asked.
His partner doesn't say anything but soon turns to him.
"Be ready," He said, giving a tone that made his partner nod.
You continue to look at the forest, still trying to find what you heard. Suddenly, something steps out of the trees, growling. Your eyes widen in shock and fear. It was an Anjanath, a Brute Wyvern! But what was it doing all the way out here?! It soon roars, making everyone turn to it.
"EVERYONE GET BACK INTO THE VILLAGE!" The hunter shouted before he and his partner ran toward the Anjanath.
It roars and charges back. You wanted to watch the fight but understood that this was not the time. You follow your class, your teacher pulling out his own weapon. Your foot hits something, causing you to trip. No one seems to notice you, but you waste no time in getting back to your fight. You hear another roar and turn to see another Anjanath running out of the trees, closing in on you. You barely had time to run before it was on top of you. You face the monster, trying your best not to show you're scared. Just as the Anjanath goes to eat you, it was tackled by another monster that jumped it.
You watched the two monsters fight before making out the monster that just saved you. A Zinogre, a Fanged Wyvern! They were one of the most powerful monsters in the world. Knowing to use electricity, Zinogres was one of the few monsters that rookie hunters must avoid. The two monsters fight before the Zinogre flips around and hits the Anjanath, knocking it back. The Zingore roars before noticing you. It turns to see you and you freeze in place. Surprisingly, it doesn't attack you. It stares at you as you stare back.
"Monster-Born,"
You hold your head, hearing a voice in it. You then feel something flying around you. When you looked, you were surprised to see Thunderbugs! You were amazed by the sight, but you soon spotted the Anjanath getting up and looking ready to fight. You wanted to call out, but the Zinogre already turned around, roaring at the Anjanath. The two monsters started fighting again as you watched. The Thunderbugs still floated around you as if they were trying to protect you.
The hunters who were fighting off the first Anjanath were able to force it away before noticing the fight.
"A Zinogre?!" One of the hunters shouted.
The other hunter notices you surrounded by Thunderbugs, watching the fight. You kept watching the fight, surprisingly that it never came close to you. Suddenly, the Zinogre charged up and entered its Charged form. However, the Thunderbugs around started to crack with electricity and you feel yourself getting shocked by them. It was enough to force you to your hands and knees, fighting to stay awake. Sadly, it was a losing battle. The last thing you saw was the Zinogre striking the Anjanath before blacking out.
10 years later,
You woke from your dream, shaking your head. It has been 10 years since that day, and everyone was surprised to find you alive. You explain everything that happened to the Elder and mention how you heard a voice that said Monster-Born. Though everyone was shocked to hear it, the Elder told you not to worry about it but you could sense he was hiding something. However, you had other things to worry about today.
Today is the day that you'll become a full-time hunter! You trained all your life for this and it was finally time. You spot your hunter gear and slip it on. You soon step out of your home before noticing your fellow students.
"Well, look who finally woke up."
You turned to see your childhood friend, Kela. Much like you, she was training to become a hunter.
"Nice to see you up on time, for once." She said, but smiling.
"I'm happy though! Today is the day we become full-time hunters!" She said, cheerful.
You smile, having liked her happy-go-lucky attitude. She was a good friend during your younger years and a great partner to train with.
"You know this is not fun and games."
You turn to see another up-coming hunter walking up. He carried a high attitude about himself and seemed to look down at you for some reason.
"And you don't think I know that? We have been training all our lives for this." Kela said.
"Why should you? You common people have no idea what a hunter is truly like." The training hunter said.
"And you're just in it for the fame, Daman!" Kela said.
"So what?" He said, scoffing.
Kela rolled her eyes before you spotted something in the air. It came close before you saw it was a Thungerbug. It flew around you as if it knew you.
"A bug?! YUCK!" Daman shouted.
"That's a Thunderbug! Wow, I never thought I see one inside the village before." Kela said.
You held out your hand, watching it fly close to it. It then flies away, making you watch it.
"Monster-Born,"
You grabbed your head, hearing that voice again. Kela notices and quickly checks on you.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
You recovered enough to nod. However, that name appeared again. What was a Monster-Born? However, you had to think about it later. It was time to see your rank in the guild.
Hunter Guild,
Many up-coming hunters enter the Guild, wanting to see where they rank. Damon forces him to the ranking paper, thinking he made the top score. He was shocked to find him at rank 125.
"WHAT?!" He shouted, wondering how he got such a lower rank.
Kela rolled her eyes as Damon started cursing. She looked for her rank and found it.
"55. I thought I would be higher, but good enough." She said, not bothered by her rank.
You soon step up, looking for your name. It wasn't in the 100s, or the 50s, or the 25s. You were shocked to finally find it. Kela looked as well and was just as surprised as you.
Rank-1st!
"Oh wow! You made the first rank!" She said, making Damon look.
"Impossible! How can a nobody like you reach top rank?!" He shouted, angry.
Even you thought that you didn't reach the top rank. Maybe around the same as Kela, but the top rank?! However, everyone was soon quiet as the Elder stepped up. He was the top hunter in the guild during his time. He looked to be a bit young, but he was much older than most villagers. But he was still able to hold his own in a fight.
"Welcome, Hunters! It's so nice to see more faces joining our family. By now, you all saw your ranks. However, don't let it get to you. Out there, ranks mean nothing. The monsters do not care about your ranks. They will attack you if you're too close to them. You may be forced to slay them, but escape is an option. Most might say that it either kill or be kill. However, I wanted to avoid unnecessary deaths. If the monster is too much, retreat. Live to fight another day. When I stepped up as the Elder, I wanted to change the way things worked here. I was tired of seeing so many of my fellow hunters being killed by monsters that were too strong for them. The last Elder did not care about the loss of hunters. So, if the monster is too much, retreat and get to safety. Use what you learn to better plan for your next encounter." He said.
You nodded, understanding the Elder's words completely.
"Right, for now. You will all be given your first hunts. You'll be allowed to take a partner with you, however, you will be going solo after that. Remember to watch your partner's back. And treat each other as respectful hunters." He said, sending a glare at Damon.
"Right, good hunting, all of you! I can't wait to hear how you did!" He added, smiling.
You smiled as the others cheered. Kela grabbed your arm, ready to start her first hunt with you.
"Come on! I pick out a perfect monster to hunt!" She said, pulling you.
Little did you or anyone know, your first hunt would turn into something more.
Well, I not only bring you my first Monster Hunter Story, but my first 1st person view story. To put it simply, I'm making the main character YOU, the readers. Since Monster Hunter is known for creating characters, I thought it would fit. But this is the first time I've done this kind of story. So any help would be nice. And since this is supposed to you, I'm trying to avoid he/she and him/her. There might be times I throw those words in, but remember it you guys/girls.
Now, this idea was something I came up with when replaying my Monster Hunter Rise game again. I'm still trying to get the Sunbreak DLC, but I'm a bit short on money. Now I first wanted to call this Monster Hunter: Fusion, because your character could fuse with monsters. That idea is still in here, but I changed the title to Monster Hunter: Monster-Born. Now, the Zinogre does play a role in the story. It also starting to become one of my favorite monsters. But I'm going to save that for the next chapter. IF you guys/girls give it a chance.
