A/N: So then I did like some of the shipping reviews. My favorite part was thinking about the universes I was creating so I wasn't going around just reusing the same characters from prime. Will come back to that when I can come up with solid jokes. But I have also been thinking about my rwby stories. I like them, but having to flip back and forth during essentially the same season could burn me out. So I am thinking of picking a story to focus on for three seasons since the first seasons have a lot in common. Plus it feels right, as for which story to focus on, don't know yet. But until then, this is just a side project so I don't stew around doing nothing, like the procrastinating jerk I am lol.
As for these, gonna make them tiny snippets, and not full stories.
Sometimes for all that is terrible, one must be reminded that things could always be worse. Take, for instance, Universe 13. Where things started with one change.
Fall of Beacon
Blake could only watch in horror, as Yang leaped at Adam. Time seemed to slow down, as Adam glowed red, his semblance flaring. And then he struck, fast and vicious. And Yang's defiant expression died, as her head was parted from her neck, and sent flying. "YAAAAAAAAAANG!" Blake let out an anguished cry of sorrow, as she crawled over to the body of her friend. Adam chuckled, as he walked away leaving the ebony-haired beauty behind. "She is but the first, the rest will follow." Then he was gone, all the while Blake wept.
Ruby woke up in a cold sweat, looking around. She felt unease, Uncle Qrow was there, gently keeping her in bed. "Easy kid, you've been out for a while. Those silver eyes took a lot out of you." He gently told her.
"Pyrrha? Penny? Yang? Where are they?" She asked, voice raspy and she couldn't help but feel a building sense of dread in her heart. Qrow looked away, and she finally noticed that his eyes had a raw redness to them. Ruby held her hands to her mouth. "Where?" She asked again. Qrow instead embraced her tightly, and Ruby cried into his shoulder as reality cruelly sank in. She learned Taiyang was comatose from learning of Yang's demise, Weiss had been taken by her father, and Blake had run.
Ruby felt despondent, like a part of her was empty. She had lost two friends and Yang, her big sister was gone from the world, and she had failed to stop the bad guys. Despite Zwei's best efforts, being the cute little corgi he was. Ruby felt empty inside. "Why?" She asked to no one in particular.
"Well. I don't know why for sure. But they were from Haven." Qrow said giving her a clue, something for her to focus on. He felt a twinge of guilt, thinking to himself, that maybe she needed time to mourn. But she had silver eyes, and right now, they needed everyone on board. Isn't that what Ozpin would've said?
Kuroyuri
Ruby panted, she could feel her aura running low. When Qrow had told her of Haven, she didn't want anyone else to get hurt. So she left on her own. And now here she was in an old village, surrounded by a horrifying Grimm that looked like a rider, and an insane scorpion faunus that had introduced himself as Tyrian. Ruby thought of how unfair it all was, and this bastard was likely part of the people that were responsible for beacon. And when she thought of them, something boiled in her, as she ran at Tyrian screaming in anger.
Silver light poured out of her eyes, the monsters turned to dust. And Tyrian was blinded in a split second, and a sickening sound was heard, as Crescent Rose decapitated the mad Faunus. Ruby blinked when the light died down, and she stared down at the faunus' corpse. She dropped Crescent Rose with a clang, horrified by what she had done.
"Ruby! Oh, thank the brothers you're okay!" Jaune's voice called out to her, and she looked up in shock. Ren and Nora and Uncle Qrow were with Jaune as well. The four looked at Ruby, and down at the faunus, and the Grimm fading away around them. Ren smiled, happy that the monster that had terrorized his nightmares was finally gone.
"Are you okay?" Jaune asked Ruby. She flinched and backed away.
"No. I'm not. I….killed someone." She stammered out.
"Tyrian Callows. A sick piece of work. Ruby, it's okay. You did it in self-defense, and this guy killed many people. You shouldn't be ashamed of that." Qrow did his best to reassure her.
"Yeah. You kicked the bad guy's butt." Nora shouted enthusiastically. Ruby smiled weakly at the reassurances and praises.
"You didn't have to go alone though. We're in this together." Jaune said with a little hurt in his voice. Ruby nodded reluctantly, deciding that maybe going alone wasn't the best option.
Haven
All it took was another flash of light. She had been practicing her strange eyes, and now Cinder was dying, blood pouring out of her. Emerald was enraged, but it made her lose focus. She was easy enough to knock out after that, then Hazel and Mercury went down. Lionheart and Raven snuck off, though they later found Lionheart dead in his office. And Raven had vanished with the relic of knowledge. And now that just left the bad guys at their feet and what to do with them.
"They killed Pyrrha. I say they get what's coming to them!" Jaune shouted angrily.
"That would make us no better!" Blake argued back. Nora glanced between the two unsure, and Ren remained silent. Qrow looked at Oscar, a farmboy that had joined them a while back, he also had Ozpin inside of his head.
"Miss Rose. I do believe this is your choice." Ozpin's voice said, and everyone looked to Ruby. The reaper looked at the bound foes before her, they had won, right? But then memories flashed back to Beacon, her sister was dead, and Emerald stirred angrily beneath her binds. Ruby's brow furrowed, as she remembered Penny's death. Decisively she took out Crescent Rose, and then she cut into Emerald, killing the bound thief instantly. She felt sick, yet she reasoned that at least Emerald wouldn't harm anyone else ever again. She then finished off Mercury, then Hazel, and when she stalked over to Cinder.
The woman in red laughed at the reaper. "Heh well now, look at you. Living up to your weapon. Heh, you're…" But Cinder's laugh trailed off, as she succumbed to her wounds. And Ruby felt an odd sensation, as the fall maiden's power transferred to her. It was intense, and she felt amazing power course through her. She couldn't say what would come next after this.
Argus
"Look at you. Blindly stumbling, listening to the old deceitful wizard." Raven told them. Ruby glared at her hatefully, her maiden power sparking. This was Yang's mother, and yet she had never cared enough about Yang in her eyes. "He has been hiding secrets from you. But if you don't believe me, then look at this." Raven handed them the relic of knowledge. Ozpin cried out for them to not use it. But they learned the truth, and Ruby felt immense anger after the revelation of Ozpin's past, the truth of the immortal Salem, the point being that everything they were doing felt pointless. Ever since Haven, Blake had left them. Nora and Oscar flinched every time she looked at her, and only Weiss and Jaune, and Ren seemed supporting of her. Uncle Qrow barely did anything, it was starting to get on her nerves.
"That was two questions. Yet the lamp is used up? What did you use the first question for?" Ruby asked the woman, with distrust in her eyes.
"...I asked where my daughter's killer was. And I ended him," Raven stated coldly, and Ruby softened at that.
"Good," Ruby said shakily.
"Now that you know the truth. What will you do?" Raven asked cryptically.
"We're going to Atlas," Ruby said bluntly.
"Wasn't that Ozpin's plan?" Raven crossed her arms.
"Yeah. But there is no better fucking plan. Besides Atlas has the best military." Ruby said grimly. "So let's go." She stared at Oscar with venom in her silver eyes. "And tell Ozpin to keep his mouth shut." She said coldly. From then on she started acting harsher when they got to Argus. Weiss was ordered to go into Atlas, and have Winter and Ironwood vouch for her. Weiss seemed hurt but complied nonetheless.
Atlas
Ruby felt tears come to her eyes when she saw Penny, her friend was back. But from there, life wasn't any easier. Spilling the truth to Ironwood was hard, but the man eased up when he heard how Cinder, Hazel, and Cinder's other cronies were dead. They had the advantage against Salem. But they had to press it, the only obstacle at that point was Robyn Hill. Ruby pondered for a terrifying moment of just killing the annoying woman and Jacques Schnee so they would be out of the picture. But when she stared at Penny, she relented for a moment.
She only truly needed the idiots out of the way. So she talked it through with Ironwood. And the two enacted a master plan, arresting the would-be politicians, and throwing them into the cells. Nora objected heavily, luckily Ren came through and helped Ruby put Nora in the cells as well. Oscar remained oddly quiet when he wasn't trying to reason with them. Though in response Ruby said it was only temporary. Penny looked sad with Ruby, they had talked before the imprisonment, and there had been no other real options, there were too many other risks.
Watts then tried to take down Amity, but he failed. And the message went out, though it was planned to be in stages, so as to not cause immediate panic.
Then speaking of the devil, Salem showed up. Her attack devastated Atlas, and in the process, Penny became the new Winter Maiden. Along with Raven's aid, and the ace ops, and the freed prisoners. They were able to strike down Salem, and her forces. But the issue of her immortality remained until Penny suggested an aura transfer machine. So it was that Salem was stripped of her magic and immortality. The witch cursed and screamed at them, and Ruby cut her down on the spot.
Penny was horrified at her and looked like she would cry. Everyone save for Ironwood looked at her like she had become a monster. But Salem in her eyes was the true monster. And the nightmare was finally over, but the world was still ugly.
Ruby was sitting in her bunk, she was alone. While celebrations were taking place outside, the silver-eyed warrior was in a strange mood. She had killed the monster responsible for her mother's death, she had stopped the bad guys, but then she thought about how the bad guys had come to be. Salem was a factor, but people like Adam are a result of the world, our whole system is rotten and broken. Ozpin set up a meat grinder, and now I am going to burn it all down. Ruby vowed to herself darkly as she got up from her bunk.
She walked stoically through the hallways of Atlas Academy, Ren was silent in a corner. Ever since he had locked up Nora, they weren't on speaking terms anymore, Nora had drifted away from Jaune and Ren. Raven had gone back to her tribe now that the fighting was over. Uncle Qrow had tried to talk to her a few times, but he always gave up quickly, unsure of what to say. Penny and Weiss talked a lot more to each other than they did to her. Ruby felt a twang of hurt and isolation. And yet, I have the power and have used it for the greater good. So maybe this pain is worth it? If it means no one else has to die? Ruby wondered to herself, as her feet carried her to the office of Ironwood.
"Ah, Miss Rose. Good to see you." The general said with a small smile, the man still looked tired, despite his now clean-shaven face. He seemed more relieved than anything that it was all over now.
"Hello, General." She stood before him. "I have been thinking lately." She said.
"About?" The man asked curious.
"Everything. It's so… twisted. It allowed people like the White Fang, Salem's minions could just blend in and do whatever they wanted. And it's…" Ruby inhaled as she struggled to contain her anger. "What if we can do better?" She asked him. "Atlas out of everyone has always been the most advanced. And now it's seen as the kingdom that defeated the great evil. What if we use that to make everyone else like Atlas?" She pleaded earnestly.
"But not everyone wishes to be like Atlas," Ironwood said with hesitance.
"And yet… what good has that done them? Salem may be gone, but Grimm are still out there. Villages are wide open for attack. And the next roman torchwick could crop up anywhere. So why allow that?" Ruby clenched her fists.
"We just got done with one war. Would you so willingly start another?" Ironwood sounded tired and exhausted.
"If it means there will be no more wars if it means there will be no more Cinders. Then yes. And you can do it with me, or I do it on my own." Ruby snarled at last. Her powers flaring, Ironwood didn't shake or quiver before her.
"No." He stated, and then Ruby incinerated him into Ash with a burst of elemental fire.
"So be it." She muttered darkly. She then sealed the doors behind her and leaped out of the windows, down to the cells. Watts looked at the young girl, as she tore open his cell. "You're with me now." She said threateningly.
Before anyone knew it, Watts had hacked into the robots all across the city. Including Penny, Atlas was quickly Ruby's domain. Now only time will tell what happens next.
A/N: And that's universe 13. More of a small look into it. If I focus on Ruby a lot, it's because I feel like she has been wasted as a character in the show, even though she is supposed to be the main character. But who knows maybe in other variations of universes. I could give focus to other characters. Until then, I think I will focus on Super Ruby until I get to the equivalent of Volume three in that story.
