Coriolanus Snow, 74

President of Panem

Snow sat stiffly in his office chair, listening to the pitter-patter of rain on the window. The weather has been dismal recently; as had his mood. His daughter's divorce would be official as of next week and he couldn't help but be disappointed in her. Minerva knew how important a political marriage was, and she'd thrown it all away. He just had to ensure Celeste did not follow the same path.

Celeste was barely four, and the only person Snow could say he loved. His granddaughter was small and pure and perfect, and she viewed him as a god. Snow knew Minerva wished to keep them apart, but there was no stopping him when he wanted something. And his daughter feared him too much to deny him what he wanted.

But somehow, she had begun the divorce process without his knowledge or permission. She was growing rebellious, and that was something that could not happen. She had to be stopped.

The Capitol did not know about the divorce. Snow made sure of that. But it couldn't stay a secret forever as he knew Minerva would find a way to make it public. That simply could not happen.

Randolph Farrow, his former son-in-law, was a prime target for an accident… on the surface. Randolph wasn't the most intelligent man out there, but he had powerful political connections through his family. Randolph was a link to them. Eliminating him would only sever that link permanently. But if something happened to Minerva…

A young man, far from the present, balked at the idea. What kind of man killed his own daughter? But Snow was no longer that man. He was stronger; wiser. Minerva was a threat to his utopia, and that could not stand.

Sighing, Snow picked up the phone on his desk. He dialed the proper extension and waited.

"Hello Mr. President," a feminine voice answered.

"Elizabeth," he greeted coolly. "I have a job for you."

"Yes, sir," she replied. He nodded to himself. As loyal as ever.

Once the details were worked out, Snow placed the phone down as a cough scratched at his throat. He held his handkerchief up to his mouth as spots of blood began to stain the white fabric.

When the coughing subsided, he placed the handkerchief in a bin under his desk and looked back at the window. It was still raining, but he felt lifted. If one did not take action themselves, nothing would get accomplished. It was a lesson he lived by, and one he would never let his country follow.

Hello everyone! It is I, back with a new SYOT! I know I said I'd be doing the Chaos Reigns collab next, and I will be working on that, but I'm incredibly impatient and wanted to start another independent SYOT. So I am opening Lay Me To Rest! As you can see, it takes place 8 years after Death & All Her Friends because I included canon victors in my universe, such as Blight, Enobaria, Cecelia, etc. They won in the 60th-65th Games period, and so here we are.

I apologize for the short prologue, and I do plan on writing another one. I think I'm developing a cold and my head has been hurting for two days straight. But like I said, I am incredibly impatient and apparently lack 0 self-control, so here we are :)

All info for submitting will be on my profile, including taken spots and the tribute form. I'll post the submission rules there too, as well as right here. Please let me know what you think of this insight into Snow's life, and if you can, send a tribute my way!

Oh! I am also opening up escort submissions! 1 escort submission per person (for right now, at least) and their form will also be on my profile :)

SUBMISSION RULES

1. This SYOT is generally first come/first serve. If I have an issue with a character, I'll talk to you about it and see if we can compromise.

2. I will accept a maximum of two tributes per submitter. Reservations are allowed. Your slot will be reserved for two weeks. But if you need an extension, ask! I don't bite! (But I do write about teenagers being killed…)

3. When you submit your tribute, PLEASE title your PM with your character's name and district. It makes things so much easier for me!

4. Please try to leave a review once in a while. I understand how chaotic life can be, but it's nice to know people are reading. And I want to make sure I'm doing your characters justice!

(Another Quick Note: When you submit a tribute, please give them realistic traits and backstories. For example, a Career tribute from District 1 will probably have a fancy, eye-catching name, good looks, prior training, and will most likely be wealthy. A tribute from 11 is probably poor or malnourished, and may have to work to get by. This isn't a hard-and-fast rule though - just something to keep in mind.)

Have a nice day, be kind to each other, and never stop reading!
