Author's Note: Another Cosmo & Wanda story. Gotta write where the inspiration takes me. Enjoy!

Cosmo and Wanda's baby would be arriving any day now. His stomach was so big and round that to any uninformed fairy it would look as though he'd swallowed a bowling ball—which, in all fairness, wouldn't be unheard of for Cosmo.

Carrying their soon-to-be-born fairy baby had certainly taken its toll on him between all the mood swings, weird cravings, and barfing, the brunt of which poor Timmy had suffered quite a bit over the past few months. Wanda had done her best to prepare by waterproofing the furniture and poofing up some rain gear to ward off the projectile puke. Obviously, though, Cosmo couldn't control it, and she still wound up getting doused a few times despite all her efforts. He muttered a meek, "sorry," every time, while she simply waved her wand to make the mess disappear and offered him a smile in understanding.

With the baby almost here, Cosmo's usual energetic demeanor only came in spurts as he ran out of steam really quickly these days, which was why Wanda insisted he rest as much as he could while she took the reins on godparenting duty. At the very least, it was a nice respite for Timmy to not have to constantly be the target of Cosmo's sparkly purple barf. Thankfully, in spite of all the gross hurdles throughout this journey, his excitement over the impending birth of his new godbrother or godsister only grew with each passing day.

As for Wanda, she wished more than anything she could feel the same excitement without all the other anxious emotions consuming her. She couldn't shake the knowledge that with each day that went by, it meant they were that much closer to their baby's due date, and her mountain of nerves only kept building. It didn't just stem from natural jitters about becoming first-time parents. It went much deeper than that. This was, after all, going to be the first fairy baby to be born in thousands and thousands of years. Despite all the odds stacked against them, Timmy's wish for Cosmo and Wanda to have a baby of their own had been granted, and now it was as though the fate of the future generation of all fairies was entirely in their hands.

She knew Jorgen could've easily denied Timmy's wish regardless of the fact that he'd forgotten to officially add the "no more fairy babies" rule to Da Rules. Yet, even with all their screw-ups in the past, he was still entrusting the two of them with the huge undertaking of becoming the first couple in Fairy World to have a baby since Cosmo himself had been born. A baby to raise all their own. A baby with new magic that he or she would have to learn to control under Cosmo and Wanda's guidance.

And Wanda had never experienced the overwhelming weight of importance behind such a major milestone in their lives as strongly as she did now. She hadn't been as nervous on their wedding day, as on the contrary, she'd never felt more certain of anything in the world than when she looked into the gorgeous green eyes of the love of her life and happily said, "I do."

Likewise, she hadn't been as nervous when she and Cosmo got assigned their very first godchild, as it was everything they'd been training for at the Fairy Academy. Their graduation day was a particularly proud milestone she reflected on with fondness.

She hadn't even been as nervous when they got removed from said godparenting assignment shortly after they started. They'd almost gotten their godparenting licenses revoked altogether after a wish gone horribly wrong nearly destroyed the entire universe. Luckily, they were given a second chance and proved themselves to be far more competent than they initially showed. Because despite all their shortcomings—many of which came from Cosmo's short-sightedness—Wanda knew they would only learn from their mistakes and grow stronger as a result.

Together, they could do anything.

She poofed into their bedroom after saying goodnight to Timmy, and her heart warmed at the sight of Cosmo lying in the middle of their plush new bed, hands cupped over his bulging stomach as he slept soundly. Even with his protruding tummy, he still looked small in that oversized bed, as it was noticeably larger than the ones each of them typically slept in. It was yet another one of Da Rules that fairy couples had to sleep in separate beds during godparenting assignments.

It wasn't until Cosmo and Wanda were officially announced to be expecting that they were given permission to swap out the two smaller beds for a king-sized one so that Wanda could tend to Cosmo as needed. The two beds rule always felt a bit harsh to her in the first place, as it was an arrangement that seemed to imply a married couple couldn't be trusted to have discretion in the privacy of their own home away from home. However, especially in their earlier godparenting days, she'd come to find it was far better to follow the rule than to risk the mortification of accidentally getting caught canoodling by someone in the human world. Besides, godparenting assignments usually averaged less than a year anyway, so it became easy to adjust accordingly during that time.

Timmy, of course, was one of the unique exceptions, having been Cosmo and Wanda's godkid for well over a year now. They usually made sure not to get too attached to any of their godkids, knowing they'd inevitably have to say goodbye when the child grew up and no longer needed them, but Timmy was one of those extraordinarily rare godchildren with whom they'd formed a special bond that frankly could never be broken. In a lot of ways, he was like their firstborn child. While they weren't his biological parents, they were still just as much a significant part of his upbringing. They were helping to teach him right from wrong, to ensure his happiness and safety and overall well-being, and this new baby was going to be his younger godsibling, which made Wanda so happy to think about. Timmy was going to make an excellent older brother.

A smile lifted the corners of her lips. Maybe she was getting herself all worked up over nothing. After all, they were great godparents, and they were going to be wonderful parents. She was sure of it.

She flew over to the bed to get a closer look at her snoozing husband, his mouth hanging open as he softly snored. Unable to stop herself, she hovered over him and pressed a light kiss to his forehead. His breathing hitched, and she promptly floated back to the side of the bed so as not to rouse him, but the damage was already done. His hands instinctively clutched his stomach as his eyes fluttered open to stare up at her.

"Wh…Wanda?"

She grinned sheepishly, crossing her arms behind her back.

"Sorry, honey. I didn't mean to wake you."

Cosmo winced as he sat up, and Wanda gasped in alarm and was right back at his side, reaching for his hand to help him.

"What's wrong? Are you in pain? Do you need to use the bathroom? Don't strain yourself. I'll help you. Here, let's—"

His hand cupped her face, and the simple gesture immediately silenced her. She met his eyes, which were still a bit hazy with sleep, though he seemed much more refreshed now. Her own eyes softened as she felt her nerves melt away thanks to his comforting touch. All she could do then was soak in this quiet moment of much-needed calmness that washed over her. Clearly, giving him the day off to rest did a wonder of good. He stroked his hand down her cheek, making her heart flutter, and his eyelids drooped with a warm, teasing smile.

"You worry too much, you know."

"I do know," Wanda admitted without any resistance. Talk about a magic touch.

She allowed her eyes to momentarily fall shut in submission to his palm cradling her face, soothing her in a way she hadn't realized she'd been craving. Her own hand found its way to his stomach, gently rubbing the growing life inside of it. Their baby. It still seemed too good to be true at times, but it was very much happening. Soon, they'd meet their child, and their family would be complete.

With her fears dwindling at last, she got so caught up in the warmth of Cosmo's loving touch to the point where she didn't protest when he pulled her on top of him. His hands grasped her around the waist as she situated herself on his chest, her wings grazing the baby bump. She took in his adoring smile and willed herself to let her secret worries about any discomfort he may have been feeling to subside, knowing that if any distress did arise, she'd be there to help soothe him. After all, they'd both endured their fair share of physical turmoil over the years as a result of his own overeagerness to make their godkids happy. Truthfully, it was always worth it to hear them laugh or see them smile.

"How are you feeling?" Wanda asked. "Sleepy? Hungry?"

"Hmm…Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Twirly, and…Dizzy? I think we named them all."

She chuckled and swept her hand through his hair, pushing away the strands that had fallen over his face. He really was cute.

"I hope our baby has your sense of humor," she said, to which Cosmo's smile widened.

"I just hope our baby's smart like you. 'Cause, let's face it, if our baby ends up taking after me, we're all going to be in for a lot of trouble."

These moments of self-awareness from him, few and far between as they were, always managed to bring a twinge to her heart. His lack of intelligence didn't make him inferior, despite what anyone, and everyone, said. Sure, sometimes it required an extra level of patience to handle his foolishness, but without it, life would be boring. Each day with him was an exciting new adventure, and it was worth every mishap. She cupped either side of his face now, as if needing to hold him in place to really make him understand.

"Cosmo, if our baby takes after you, that'll be a good thing. It'll mean our child is adventurous and sweet and willing to mess up and try again. Those are all wonderful qualities to have. And best of all, it'll mean he or she won't care what anyone else thinks and will even be able to bring out the fun and carefree side in others, something a lot of people lose sight of the older they get. How could anyone not want that for their child? I know I do."

Cosmo gaped at her with unblinking eyes, an incredulous look she'd seen from him countless times that went far beyond confusion. She could tell he was trying to understand, but it wasn't reaching.

"Sweetie, it's okay," Wanda assured him. "All I'm trying to say is that it's good you don't care what anyone thinks of you, and I hope our child will learn the value of that, too. Do you understand now?"

Cosmo's perplexed countenance didn't change. "Yeah, except…it's not exactly true."

Now Wanda's smile slipped. "What do you mean? Since when do you care what anyone else thinks?"

"Well…it's not that I care what anyone else thinks. I only care about what you think. I always have and I always will. Because you're the greatest, and our almost-here fairy baby is the luckiest to have you. I know I am."

Wanda's smile returned to her lips, brighter than before. There was only one thing she could think to do in that moment to fully express how grateful she was to be with him, let alone to hear him say such romantic things like that.

"So am I," she said before swooping down and connecting her lips squarely to his.

His hands tightened around her waist, and soon he entwined them around her back, pressing protectively beneath her wings. On impulse, she grabbed two fistfuls of his shirt, yanking him closer, kissing him harder. A stifled sound of surprise vibrated from his lips to hers, which of course only made her worried instincts kick in. She was about to pull away to make sure she hadn't hurt him, but then his tongue glided into her mouth, and any semblance of rational thought went right out the window. Her body shuddered with deep pleasure, a delicious sensation that tingled from the top of her head down to her toes. Her grip on his shirt gradually loosened until her fingers went completely weak under the gentle yet sensual caress of his tongue sweeping against hers.

"Cosmo," she moaned along his mouth.

They parted long enough for her to take in his eyes, darkened with desire, as his chest heaved for air. It was clear he was running out of energy, even despite his look of longing. With how physically spent he was, she knew it wouldn't be wise for them to take things any further tonight. He seemed to register all of this from the apologetic look that crossed her face, and he responded by taking his hand in hers, letting her know he understood. A warm smile graced her face, beaming with utter devotion over how much she loved this man, more than anything in the entire universe. He was going to be an amazing father. And their baby was going to be so, so loved. She pressed a hand to his heated cheek as their lips brushed together in a much softer kiss this time.

Sudden movement in Cosmo's stomach had them both pulling away to fixate on his belly. They waited for it to happen again, but the baby had apparently settled now. Wanda slid her hand over his stomach, while Cosmo rested his hand next to hers. They shared another joyous smile, and finally, they lay down facing each other, their unborn child resting comfortably between them. It sure was nice to be able to sleep in the same bed like this. Perhaps they'd keep this arrangement even long after the baby was here. It would just be their little secret.

And now, she truly couldn't be more excited.

Author's Note: I like writing about Cosmo & Wanda making out, as you can tell. XD

On a related note, I met Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Norris at a recent fan convention and literally worked up the courage to ask them a question about Cosmo & Wanda's sex life, and their answers were so worth it haha. If you're interested in hearing about it, I detail the whole experience in an upcoming episode of my podcast, so stay tuned next month. Info on where to listen is in my profile, or feel free to PM me and I'll let you know when the episode is available.

In the meantime, thanks for reading, and please take a moment to review! :)
